     My Promise Today.

      It may not seem like much, but over a period of time it may make a slight difference in the grand scheme of things. I believe if everyone made a slight difference in their lives for the sake of the environment it will eventually make a Big difference. *Hopefully, I can convince other people who are in my life to do the same thing.

    I Promise today, to find alternative cleaning agents for around the house. I am going to find natural solutions for all of my household needs. So far, in the last bit, I have replaced a lot of products. But I still need a replacement for laundry soap, wooden furniture polish, as well as an alternative for my hardwood floors. (They get dull and lifeless if I do not take care of them. If Anyone in here has a solution, please let me know.)

I haven't had a lot of time to address this in group thread lately.

Here is my daily promise.

 Today & everyday, I promise to leave as little of a footprint as possible. 

 Last year I went 100% organic in my yard & garden.

 I have switched 98% of my house hold cleaners to natural eco-friendly cleaners.

 I'm currently working on converting all of my personal hygiene items to all natural, eco-friendly products. (Getting my hubby to use different items...Maybe that will come sooner rather than later.)These include trying to make some on my own. So I may reuse packaging. Like bottles & such.

 That taps in on my biggest struggle, reusing more items, instead of just recycling them...

 All of which I work on daily.

 I also promise to share what I know with others. Of course I do these things anyway. But I promise. Here it is in writting for all to see.

Yes I will. I've never planted sunflowers before....I'm not sure when they will bloom. I was given the seeds by MeMe's mom. She's the one that suggested that the Sunflowers would be the best to plant for them. Now I'm going to have to look up the way to care for them, but they are worth all my time. House Bill Proposes Savage Cuts in Land Protection Funding

Dear Representative Paul:

I write in regard to the Interior Appropriations bill. Of greatest concern to me is the fact that the bill reported by the committee essentially zeroes out funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) and drastically reduces funding for the Forest Legacy Program.

Taken together, these two programs are the best tools available to us to ensure that burgeoning population and sprawl do not consume our most important environmental and recreational lands. It is profoundly shortsighted to gut these programs at a time when sprawl accelerates.

I also urge you to support several conservation amendments likely to be offered during floor debate. One, an amendment by Reps. Chabot and Andrews, would eliminate the outrageous subsidy taxpayers give to logging companies by paying for new logging roads in America's largest national forest, the Tongass in Alaska.

The Tongass is a wonderland of wildlife habitat, important to fishers, hunters, Native people and local communities. More roads and clearcuts can only harm them. Already the Tongass has more than 5,000 miles of roads and the timber available from existing roads is more than adequate to supply local mills.

Last year, taxpayers spent $48 million for logging and road building on the Tongass, but took in only $800,000 from logging companies in return. Over the next decade, if the Forest Service carries out its logging plans, the cost could exceed $1.2 billion. It is long past time to stop subsidizing timber companies to ravage one of our great national treasures.

Here are other amendments I strongly urge you to support:

- One by Rep. Alcee Hastings to help to help ensure environmental justice for low-income and minority communities; and - One by Reps. Bart Stupak and Clay Shaw to prevent the EPA from making final its proposed weakened sewage dumping policy.

Does CO2 Cause Global Warming?

The planet's temperature increased 1.5 degrees C since the mid 19th century, two-thirds of which occurred before 1940, when carbon dioxide emissions by humans were minimal. Since 1979, carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuels have risen 19%; yet the planet cooled 0.09 degree C during that period. One must seriously ask how the earth's temperature rose before human-caused CO2 was put into the atmosphere? This is a case of an effect coming before the cause.

The chief hothouse gas is water vapor-not carbon dioxide or methane. It accounts for over 90% of global heat retention. Currently, human activity puts about 6 billion tons of CO2 into the atmosphere per year. Non-human activity, mostly volcanoes, accounts for about 200 billion tons. Human activity, then, constitutes 2-3% of carbon dioxide, which itself is less than 10% of the total. As professor of physics at Purdue University L. van Zandt said in the National Review:

Human activity, carried out at the present rate indefinitely (more than 12 years) cannot possibly account for more than 6 per cent of the observed change in CO2 levels. Entirely shutting off civilization-or even killing everybody-could only have a tiny effect on global warming, if there is any such thing.¹ He went on to say:

Why do all these supposedly educated, supposedly sane people want to end civilization? Since humanity can't possibly be causing the CO2 level to go up, isn't it time to start wondering about what is?
