WHAT DO CALVES EAT?
WHAT DO CALVES EAT? Nursing calves reduce milk production. The farmer's solution is to feed soymilk to baby cows! Ö There are many people think SOY & SOYMILK are toxic to our body after reading Mercola, Sally Fallon & Mary G. Enig web pages. But if itís a GM food, itís a deadly poison food. How many of you know that calves drink soymilk? Itís all known all factory-farming animals eat generically modified grains (corn, soy, wheat, rice etc) due to cost of feeding according to USDA. GM food is fatal regardless where it ends up with such as human, animals, soils & plants/forest that destroy, alter and make it harder to detect the cause of problem. I have been thinking why many people bash the SOYMILK and TOFU when they get to eat soy fed meats? When a personís body is polluted with the additives, preservatives, antibiotics & inorganic chemicals, he/she will crave more processed food. For people whom listen to MERCOLA & Sally Fallon & Mary G. Enigís new dietary theory, then they should follow their diet pattern that is RAW MEAT, COCONUT OIL, and their processed snacks. By the way, Sally and Mercola talked about the animal tests on rats for cancer and soybeans. Well, itís all up to you that link to believe. I just want to clarify the wrong message here. Dead raw flesh and cooked animal parts should not be served with body fluids from diseased animals.Every cell in your miraculous body craves life, not death. Cells and enzymes from carrots and oranges.Green plants containing chlorophyll and calcium with magnesium in a proportion that is efficiently utilized by the human body. A rose will never become a dead chicken, even if it is so re-named. Neither would a phytoestrogen become a steroid hormone, nor act like one. For health, eat isoflavones and phytoestrogens. Your body will thank you. Phytoestrogens are widely distributed in plants. There are three categories of phytoestrogens--isoflavones (which are found in soy), lignans (seeds, fruits and veggies), and coumestans (broccoli and sprouts). So should we all discontinue to eat that contain phytoestrogens by listening to Mercola? On an old issue of Hoard's Dairyman (January 10, 1956), that 9-10 pounds of milk are required for a nursing calf to gain just one pound of body weight. Farmers today receive about $14 for every 100 pounds of milk that they produce. The break-even point for his baby "veal" is nearly $1.40 per pound. Farmers receive around 40 cents per pound when selling that calf to the meat processor, which would represent an enormous loss. Therefore, milk-fed veal is impossibility at today's prices. WHAT HAPPENS TO CALVES? Baby females are raised to become milk producers. Males suffer a different fate. These days, calves are kept chained to a stall in a tiny crate that keeps them from standing and exercising, which would add muscle fiber to their flesh. They remain weak and anemic so that their pale white flesh resembles the milk-fed veal of days long ago. These animals cannot even turn in their stalls. They are force-fed and lay in their own feces. Those who call themselves compassionate vegetarians and still use milk and dairy products are unaware of the cruelest aspect of the factory-farm business. In order for cows to give milk, they must first give birth. Milk drinkers indirectly support the veal industry. Dairy farmers cannot afford to be compassionate to their animals. Compassion is bad for business. The 43-year old Hoard's article directs this ending comment to the dairy farmer: "The nursing calf is a big milk waster as well as eater, and in the end he may not be the only sucker in the barn."

Calves are fed after birth , asap, the milk from the mother for the boost to the immune system. Although I don't doubt it, most farms can't function so barbariclly. Yes, female calves go to one side and are fed mothers milk. The males born normally are seperated, fed mothers milk, and driven away when the veal truck comes. Milk replacer is also fed after intensive "lessons" in bottle feeding which has ingredients to boost the immune system even more. Eventually they learn to eat grains. If you want to talk about milk, why do so many "vegetarians" continue to eat cheese, which contains more than just milk... Eat Cabot cheese!

ďIf you want to talk about milk, why do so many "vegetarians" continue to eat cheese, which contains more than just milkĒ Ö Lisa, that is a good point. I have been trying to tell them eating cheese/dairy products also promoting factory farming. Interestingly they are aware of all that but they cannot quit eating because of their addiction. If they all care about their good health, they should stop eating altogether instead of being cowís dairy slaves. From what I have heard from some vegetarians became due to the food allergies causing a big health problem. But I know some of my friends eat cheese & other dairy products although they still have other health problem but wonít give them up. Some other vegetarians I see with care2 groups, they cannot leave the thick and rich taste, but I hear many comments how caring about animalís welfare and against factory farming. I still do not understand why itís so difficult to leave all animal products after learning the animal cruelty. Plus the cow milk belongs to the cow babies, not for people. Since the dairy product contains more than just simple milk, it causes many health problems such as various cancers (breast), allergy, and asthma, bone weaning, etc. The dairy products have 10 false promises from the advertisement that have been spending over 3 billion dollars to people to eat more.
Other problems with milk...

There is good and bad about milk. Like everything else it's been over-processed and changed. Raw milk can actually be good for you. Especially when itís properly prepared yogurt (not the store stuff, it contains sugar and other no-nos). Some autistic kids have a huge problem with the casein in milk. It goes through their damaged gut and right to their brain, where it acts like a hallucinogen. Once casein is taken away, some autistic kids improve. Although, some have been greatly help with properly prepared goat yogurt (different type of casein) and ghee. I haven't taken that chance yet and use nut yogurt. Francine. .

Actually that wasn't my point, but kind of. The one point I was making about the cheese and vegetarian comment was because of the rennet content in cheese and some dairy products. I still enjoy cheese but "Rennet free, Baby!" It is sad that there is factory farming but I've worked on many a farm and haven't seen anything like that, not saying it doesn't happen but hopefully not as often as believed. They seem ok: http://www.cabotcheese.com/index.php

Many people argue with me about drinking organic and/or raw milk is good for our body. Some others will go for GOAT MILK. Why not go for the cat, rat, tiger and dogís milk? If all animalsí milks are that great and nutritious, the peopleís disease should stop now and the pharmacists will be out of business by now, right? People who love the dairy food must not think why COW MILK is born. Pregnant mother feeds to her infant prior to wean to the regular solid food. She refuses to feed her breast milk when her child is capable digesting the adult food. Understanding this simple fundamental idea, humans do not have problem. But then why is it so difficult to understand about COW MILK? I never understand this. I was weaned off from the rice/barley/soy/corn milk from the start. Do any of you understand this sick theory? Many centuriesí people survived without drinking milk, ice cream, half/half, cream cheese, etc. When the science and technology are invented more for humans, there are more diseases and drugs arriving in the market. How about Buddha and people who belong to the religion? I have been seen people who devote to the Buddha religion that they are healthier both mentally and physically; they rarely get sick. If they get sick, they go on fasting to detox the body. You will not die not consuming milk since there are so many choices to choose from the plant/grain based foods. I know people still argue with me if just once or another case is infected from the animalís disease wonít make any difference to their eating habits. How many of you know this fact that peopleís diseases are coming from the bad eating habits. This old wisdom never fails. MILK AND TUBERCULOSIS According to Virgil Hulse, M.D. (Author of Mad Cows and Milkgate), half of the dairy herds in America have cows testing positive for bovine tuberculosis. One cow infects another cow with tuberculosis. Last week (January 10, 2005), America became aware of the Michigan hunter who caught bovine tuberculosis from a deer. The deer most likely ran out of the woods onto the cow's turf and became infected. This story should act as a warning to both hunter and dairy consumer. Eat body parts or drink body fluids from diseased animals and suffer the consequences. See: http://glrc.org/story.php3?story_id=2524 (read the below) Some say that half the dairy herds in America are infected with bovine tuberculosis. Others promote the consumption of raw milk. Neither thought should be comforting to milk and dairy consumers. Milk & Tuberculosis "Infected raw milk is the chief means by which milk-borne tuberculosis is transmitted to man." Journal of Dairy Science, 19:435, 1936 "Many diseases such as tuberculosis are transmissible by milk products." Journal of Dairy Science 1988; 71 "Some strains of mycobacteria, similar to those that are associated with tuberculosis, have been found to survive pasteurization." The National Mastitis Council, Inc. 1970 Washington, D.C. "A Mycobacterium bovis-infected dairy herd of 369 Holstein cows with lactation duration between 200 and 360 days was tested... 170 cows had positive tuberculin test results, and 199 had negative results." Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, 1998 Sep, 213:6
