Sick and tired of high gasoline prices? Exxpose Exxon's dangerous game! August 31, 2005 10:52 AM
Labor Day weekend is one of the busiest driving weekends of the year. Thanks to our country’s over-dependence on oil, gasoline prices this weekend are expected to reach almost $3 a gallon. This Labor Day weekend, whether you are stuck in bumper to bumper traffic or staying at home, put your frustration about America’s energy policies into action!
On July 28th ExxonMobil announced a record-breaking 2nd quarter profit of $7.84 billion! Is Exxon using that windfall to invest in more affordable energy alternatives? No! ExxonMobil has decided that it benefits from America’s dependence on oil—and it’s fighting tooth and nail to maintain the status quo.
You can help us expose Exxon's dangerous games by writing a letter to your local newspaper expressing your frustration over ExxonMobil’s failure to take steps that would reduce high gas prices by reducing our oil dependence. Tell them you’re upset that instead of using its record-breaking profits to move America toward a cleaner energy future, ExxonMobil’s president has said that America just needs to “accept the reality” of our oil dependence rather than try to solve it.
SaveOurEnvironment.org has made it easy for you to write and submit your letter to the editor online - click here to get started now!
Or, if you are sitting in traffic (or just hanging out with friends and family), tune in to a radio talk show program and call in! Share your frustration with others across the airways. Click here to view some talking points for your call. And, of course, keep driving past those Exxon and Mobil gas stations and buying your gas elsewhere!
Please let us know if you wrote a LTE or called into a radio station by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thanks to our country’s over-dependence on oil, gas prices break records every week, and the U.S. must import millions of barrels of foreign oil every day.
We can't afford to pay the price for ExxonMobil's dangerous policies any longer!
We really need your help to spread the word in order to put enough pressure on ExxonMobil to make the company change its policies for the better. Click here to send a message to ten friends urging them to join the ExxposeExxon.com campaign as well. With your help, we can make a difference!
SaveOurEnvironment.org and the other groups that make up the ExxposeExxon.com coalition thank you for your continued support!
