Poverty May 13, 2005 9:03 AM

Why do so many people remain deprived of basic needs. The reasons are complex, the primary causes are of a Political, Economic, Structural, and social nature, aided by a lack of political resolve, wrong attitudes regarding the deployment of financial resources, Unless we can over come these problems with positive solutions then we will never have a safe, clean, peacefull planet.  [ send green star]

Poverty - causes and consequences. May 14, 2005 7:22 AM

Poverty is a problem about who uses or has a profit from the resources of our world. And poverty exists because the rich people or nations wonít accept to give something from their riches. One reason is because they donít care about the others. Another reason is that they got used to their high standard and they donít accept to lower their quality of life by sharing what they own with someone else. Unfortunately, this attitude will cause a great damage to our future. And when I talk about future, I talk about our children. Yes, the children are favourite targets for poverty. They are weak, without defence. They are susceptible to a lot of diseases. And the development of the children is important. A child has to learn, needs education and needs food in order to become a strong person and to live enough to bring a lot of creative ideas. Letís remember about so many intelligent children that died without creating anything, just because they had the ďchanceĒ to be born in a poor family. I truly appreciate the grants given to poor but clever kids. Thatís a good thing because creative ideas are so necessary to the development of our society. The old persons are usually considered useless, because they donít produce anything. But we should remember that they once produced a lot of things that made our life possible. They are the creators of our world and they are still a source of knowledge and wisdom. But we usually forget this and we send them into poverty, which will kill them, in the end. Lack of human rights comes with poverty. When we are poor, the richer people or countries will consider that they have the right to tell us what to do, and usually that wonít be in our benefit. Thank you.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Thank you Cear.O May 14, 2005 10:48 AM

Yes thank you for the post unless we can take positive action, To help people living in poverty to help themselves we must first help them with food and health care then with employment and protect their children from harm and being exploited. "Some concerned people are to obsessed with techniques of measurement, yet they are unable to measure suffering. It is this unmeasurable side of suffering that is awakening us to the realities. And what kind of society is it that remains indifferent to the abuse of a child? We need to clear both our minds and our souls" (Surchal Wun'Gaeo, Thailand)  [ send green star]
