What a wonderful group to be part of. In 1996 as part of a clinical trial to see if meditation would help alleviate depression, I attended a 12-week class on Jon Kabat-Zinn's Mindfulness Meditation. Not only did the meditation help alleviate my depression (didn't make it go away entirely, but it was not as deep), but it helped tremendously with pain relief of fibromyalgia. I have taken several refresher courses since then. I had the priviledge of attending a book signing by Dr. Zinn, and I told him of the positive changes in my life due to practicing mindfulness meditation. He took my hands in his, thanked me for telling him what joy it was to hear that I was still practicing (he even remembered by teachers' names!), and asked permission to use my story.
The Wonderful Power of Now is the concept I follow in living. This moment is the most important moment of my life. Putting each moment together with the next is incredibly powerful.
Thank you for the invitation to join this group. I will be inviting others to join and share the power of now with us.

... to everyone. You know what I observed? You can have presence or "now" in a moment, and then starts to wear out. More and more. How do you close the "gaps"?

Hello everyone! I'm new to your group and I just thought I'd introduce myself. I read a lot of different books on sprirituality and they all seem to stress the importance of living in the present moment. In the present moment is where life and God exists. Your'e not really living if you're not in the present moment. At least that's what I think. It is hard to constantly remain in each present moment, but I do make attempts to focus and be more aware. Hopefully I'll get better as time goes by. Take care everyone, Heather M.
