Now that I have already joined--I'll start where I should have!
My name is Patricia: I am 56 years old and live in San Antonio, TX. I have strong interests in womens' issues, cultures other than USA, and religion. I guess those are what has drawn me to the group. The first thing that caught my eye was the Henna party. In my apartment complex there are many young families from India: the majority of the men are computer programmers who work as contract workers at the big company accross the street. I have truly enjoyed getting to learn about their country, spicy food, and culture. A couple of years ago a friend did mehandi on my left hand. It was a design of a beutiful peacock. She is artistic and has a steady hand so it turned out wonderful. I barely washed my hand for two weeks, trying to make it stay as long as possible.
I live with two ageing cats in an apartment. For the most part, they are my family. At this moment the biggest event in my life is trying to get my broken ankle to heal. I have type 1 Diabetes and blacked out from a low glucose in July. The surgeon put a plate with five screws in my left ankle. Now I will put a machine around it every day for 30 min. which uses an electromagnetic field to stimulate bone growth. Oh, I used to work in the health care field, so I'm interested in all medical advances.
Hi, I'm Rebecca Donovan. I'm single with no children, but would love some one day. I'm a chocoholic. I'm having too much fun in this site!

It is lovely to be here, Rabia. Thank you for inviting me. Hello and joyous wishes to everyone. I am looking forwarding to learing more about your culture, Rabia. I have never had an islamic friend before, but I have read a Pulizer Prize winning Islam author. I read two of his books about three years ago. You can learn a lot from reading about other cultures' points of view. It is quite fascinating I think that we on earth are so diverse. Our Creator is tryly wondrous.
The topics sound so interesting and I love meeting friends from different cultures to my own, sometimes even more than from my own! It is just so interesting and different. Great to be here.

I hope you will soon share some of your poetry with us. Then we'll have several good poets, and I am not one of them. I have some words rambling around in my head, but they have not taken direction. Perhaps yours will motivate me!
...less i be flagged again for mistaken profanity,
re: 'missing ToolBar'
Just wonder why toolBar disappear & reappear as they wish? Could it be that someone is rubbing Ali Baba's 'lamp' the wrong way? Perhaps i can lend you one from my toolbox, i got several...
Me got IE 5/5.5/6.0, also Netscape Moz, Moz-fFox.
Only version i don't have is B1 (aka: BushWand) coz they're too big, them made in Texas are known to be hugh & cumbersome, C?
Ms Rabia (now this is serious), if someone from your home can describe to me how & why your toolBar acted like a 'schizo' (if its a B1 or IE... i suggest changin), mebe i can help ya fix it, 4real...!
I have 2 kids, 2&4, 2 dogs, a cat, a rabbit, 2 gerbils, fish, and all the village kids...(kids of my friends that like to come over) I work at a couple of hospitals and in my spare time which isnt much I like to belly dance, and am learning to drum. Nice to emeet you. Tree
Welcome Tree hope you like the Caravan's End. Sit back get some tea and enjoy the rooms we meet on thursday in the forbidden hooka lounge. See you there.

****************************************** *************SALAAMS TO ALL*************** ****************************************** Tonite I read all the postings here and it is so good to see all of you are writing! I have many plans for this group and some of them I would like to share with you. I have been working on the "We Love Pomegranates" group and you might check it out! I will be posting some of my research about Pomegranates as well as other interesting middle eastern fruits and their history. My diet is mostly fresh vegetables, fruit, (organic) and couscous, (a pasta) rice, and beans. Free range chicken, meat that is free of chemicals (one can only hope!) and bread. When I moved here, I baked flat-bread everyday, well I have changed to buying bread at the Halal Store (Middle Eastern Market, kosher). Eggs from free range chickens, raw honey and butter made without chemicals... I am researching a natural sweetener made from the plant Stevia rebaudiana. For you who have diabetes, this will be particularly intresting. Stevia is 30 times sweeter than sugar...used in many parts of the world as a natural herbal sweetener. In Japan for example, about 40% of the sweetener market is stevia-based. In South America it has been used for at least 1,500 years. Just imagine Stevia leaves, 30 times sweeter than sugar and here is the best part...virtually NO Calories!!!! We are adding a "Roof" above the Harem that will promise to be interesting! Caravan's End will be scheduling a Henna Seminar for the next week after Ramadan, the Muslim month of fasting. "Certificate of Completion" for those members completing the class. This will be sent snail mail. There will be a notice in the home page of Caravan's End, in the announcment section, for a reminder. Keep checking the soon to be "SULTAN'S TOWER" for information on registration and supplies. I have recieved many questions about women's dress. I will be posting the "HAREM CLOSET." Insha Allah (God willing). There seems an air of mystery about our clothing, the veiling (covers the hair and chest) and niqab (several methods of covering the face). I have an interesting collection of photo's to share as well as history and culture in an open and candid atmosphere. Medicine & health...Bellydancing.............................. There are many things to enjoy, learn, and share together.

The Islamic holiday of Eid ul-Fitr (Arabic: عيد الفطر, often abbreviated as simply Eid, marks the end of Ramadan, the month of fasting. On the day of the celebration, a typical Muslim family gets up very early and attends special prayers held only for the occasion in big mosques, in large open areas, stadiums or arenas. The festivities and merriment start after the prayers with visits to the homes of friends and relatives and thanking the Creator for all blessings. Eid is a time to come together as a community and to renew friendship and family ties. This is a time for peace for all Muslims in the world to devote to prayers and mutual well-being.

Hello to my new friends, my name is Janice I live in North Wales in the UK.
I am married, with a daughter of 21 and a son of 5. I work with homeless young females between the ages of 16 to 24.
I am well traveled and have lived in many countries during the past 25 years, including Brunei and Hong Kong and consider myself to be very Culturaly aware.
I have a question about Islam? Is it really part of the religion that women are inferior to men? I'm Catholic, and I study world religions as a hobby.

I was not invited, I just happened to be wandering in the desert and saw your lights. As I got closer the lilting sound of music beckoned me and the scent of the incense wafted to me on the breeze. I heard the sound of voices and they seemed friendly and welcoming. I hope you don't mind if I take advantage of your hospitality and rest awhile?

I've never been to any Middle east country but would like to see some of them one day in the future. That's why I'm willing to learn more about this unfamiliar land/s and culture/s as all I know are fantastic Arabic tales I read in my childhood.
