Carol C.	ban foie gras September 25, 2006 7:50 AM recently, chicago's city council put into effect the first ever us foie gras ban! the mayor of chicago is less than pleased, calling the ban "silly", and is trying to tell chicagoans that they are now the laughing-stock of the country. please sign my petition to mayor daley telling him that animal abuse is not "SILLY" and that chicago is looking much mroe progressive and compassionate than the "slaughterhouse capital" reputation they had in the past. http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/815636066 [ send green star]

Rhodora M.	save dogs from the philippine DOG MEAT trade January 27, 2007 5:20 PM http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/879609320 Because this exceedingly brutal commercial industry provides a steady flow of income not only to the traders but to individuals in government positions acting in their own interests, the dog meat trade remains unscathed from the Animal Welfare Act. However, House Bill 2991 is currently pending in the Committee on Revision of Laws that provides a stiffer penalty to dog meat traders. Introduced by Representative Francis Escudero, the creation of the bill was based on the need to upgrade an Act that, as noble as the objectives of the law are, the traders remain elusive because the penalty is unrealistic. The penalty must be upgraded. OUR GOAL is to obtain OVER 50,000 signatures by JUNE 30, 2007. It is obvious that the only way we can ensure that dogs in the Philippines are protected is to place the Philippines government under the international spotlight. [ send green star]
