Wagmiza Wasna June 09, 2005 9:58 AM

Lakota recipe: Wagmiza Wasna.

This is a cornmeal pemmican and can be eaten like candy
or just like popcorn by the handful:

2 cups yellow cornmeal
1 cup oil (suet is good)
1 cup raisins
1/3 cup sugar

Toast cornmeal in over (375 degrees) or skillet-stirring
to prevent burning. Heat oil. Grind cup of raisins and mix
with oil.
When the cornmeal is nicely browned (in about 30 minutes
or so), mix all ingredients together with 1/3 cup sugar.
Very quick to make and delicious.
