Target: Constantine Caramanlis, Prime Minister, Greece
Sponsor: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/870477005
We declare ourselves against the mentalities and practices that lead to the destruction of the world’s heritage and we ask the Greek Prime Minister to exercise his authority so that, without any further delays and hypocrisy, this unique monument is finally saved and restored.Sponsor: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/870477005

Thanks for giving this a rattle, it is a real shame so few people are willing even to sign a petition to protect the worlds heritage places. The Care2 Thornborough petition has been sent at least once to around 100,000 Care2 members. I guess for many people, unless our corporate controlled media tell them to worry about an issue, they do not recognise there is an issue.

CHARLES, it is unbelievable that these petitions you posted do still show such a reduced number of signatures! Signed them all in August / September 2005! Will cpost and make shares again also supporting Eleanor B´s efforts for them all.
PABLO - Petition signed some time ago.
KATHRYN - I think you should contact ThePetitionsite and see what is going wrong with your petition. It is shown as DRAFT petition, so NO SIGNS ARE VALID.
Strongly suggest that, to get signatures to it, that you take action, otherwise it will be there for years, as a draft petition and no results as you want and need for your first petition.
Here is what is in the top of the page there:

As I don't want to create tons of new topics, I'll post all the petitions here, if I am allowed, of course.
This is the text:
Tell Kimberly-Clark: Use Recycled Paper Instead of Old Forests!
Did you know that over two acres of ancient trees in the Boreal Forest are killed every minute? Did you also know that many of these trees end up in landfills as disposable paper products such as Kleenex, Scott, Huggies, Pull-Ups, Depends, and Kotex?
As regular consumers of household paper products, we should have a say where that paper comes from. Sign this petition and tell Kimberly-Clark to use post-consumer recycled content, not ancient forests!
Between 15 and 30 percent of Kimberly-Clarks' pulp fiber comes from logging of the Boreal Forests in Canada. This forest encircles the far Northern latitudes of North America, Europe, and Asia and plays a vital role in slowing climate change, keeping our air clean, and producing more freshwater than any other system in the world. The Boreal Forest is one of the last of the great ancient forests we have, and companies like Kimberly-Clark don't want us to know it is being logged, and fast!
Companies like Kimberly-Clark should be using recycled post-consumer material rather than natural resources. When new paper products are created from post-consumer material such as the paper that goes in the recycling bin, we all come up winners. New materials are kept out of the landfill, ancient trees continue to grow, and big companies can still support their employees.
And this is the link:

Thanks for reading until the end!

Heritage Petitions
UK - Petition to stop the quarrying of the Thornborough Complex.
In the UK, the largest prehistoric religious site, the Thornborough Henges Complex, is being quarried for gravel by Tarmac Ltd. The company is part of the massive Anglo American Corporation, and are not only destroying one of Britain’s most important ancient sites, but also they are using there financial muscle to make it appear to the general public that this is of benefit to British heritage!
Please help us try to stop this, Thornborough is not the only important ancient site Tarmac are quarrying, lets us send a clear message to the British government that this must stop.
Note: Two versions of the same petition – in case you have trouble loading one.
To HM Government - stop quarrying at Thornborough Henges

Ireland - Petition to re-route the M3 away from the Hill of Tara.
One of Irelands most important ancient monument complexes is located at the Hill of Tara. This was the place where the ancient High King was crowned, it plays a central role in Irish legend. The Irish government has decided to build a motorway right through the Tara complex, splitting the complex in two and raising the very real threat of extensive development for the wider area.

UK - Petition to save Silbury Hill
The tallest prehistoric structure in the UK is the 4,000 year old Silbry Hill. Unfortunately modern man has violated this ancient site by tunnelling into it then failing to properly fill in the holes. As a result the hill is subsiding and is in danger of collapse.
The hill has been subsiding for more than five years and there seems little political will to repair it – please sign the petition for urgent action:

UK - Save Priory Park ancient burial site
Trees will be cut and an ancient burial ground of a Saxon King will be turned into a road. Stop the insane roadbuilding mania! Don't let cars rule the world! Save precious natural and historical sites in Britain and elsewhere! Sign this petition and pass it on. Please!

Turkey – Save Allianoi Roman Town.
One of Turkeys most important heritage sites is the Roman Spa of Allianoi. Unfortunately a new dam is going to flood the entire site which will wreck it. A small change to the dam design would stop this.
Sign the Care2 petition at http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/174631703

USA – Petition to protect Native American burial grounds
In the USA Native American burial grounds are being lost and lack protection.

Australia – Demand greater protection of the Great Barrier Reef
Merely 4.6% of the Great Barrier Reef is highly protected as a marine sanctuary. Please act now to protect our reef.

International - The Venerable Trees of the Earth
The Venerable Trees are part of the Biodiversity and the Sustainable Development. They are the “Spirits of the Earth”. The ancient trees represent an historical, natural, and cultural heritage. Seen the fragility of the Environment and the non-respect given to the old trees, it is important that they are protected and classified as World Heritage in UNESCO.
