Oklahoma Girl, Alleged Abductor Found Dead: Caitlin Elizabeth Wooten September 25, 2005 7:44 AM

ADA,
Okla. -- A teenager who was abducted as she left school last week was
found shot to death Saturday along with a man her mother had once
dated. Authorities said it appeared to be a murder-suicide.

The
bodies of Caitlin Elizabeth Wooten, 16, and Jerry Don Savage, 47, were
spotted from an Oklahoma Highway Patrol helicopter, said city spokesman
Mark Bratcher.

Savage, who had dated the girl's mother, Donna Wooten,
reportedly called the girl's grandmother Friday afternoon and
threatened to harm Caitlin, Bratcher said.

He said
Savage was recently arrested on charges of attempting to kidnap Donna
Wooten. Wooten obtained a protective order against Savage on Aug. 30,
court records show, but he was out of jail on bond when Caitlin
disappeared.

Caitlin was last seen Friday getting
into a dark green pickup truck after classes ended at Ada High School.
Bratcher said the pickup was found on a street in Ada, about 80 miles
southeast of Oklahoma City.

The deaths appear to be murder-suicide, said Jessica Brown, a spokeswoman for the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.

Savage
had previously lived in the area and knew the owner of the land where
the bodies were found, authorities said. The landowner, Saye Sliger,
was arrested as a possible accessory to the crime, Brown said.

After searching almost 20 hours, authorities discovered the body of a missing Ada teenager.

Just feet away, her abductor was also found dead.

KTEN’s Jocelyn Lockwood has the details about this morning's search and grim recovery.

There are still a lot of questions to be answered in this case.

However, officers did locate the bodies of Caitlin Elizabeth Wooten and her abductor Jerry Don Savage, both had sustained fatal gun shot wounds.

16-year-old Caitlin Wooten was helping a friend load some football gear into a car after school yesterday when authorities say she was abducted from the Ada High School parking lot in broad daylight.

Police don’t know if Wooten willingly got into her mother’s ex-boyfriends car or if she was forced.

But, they know the abduction ended tragically when both bodies were found at 10:00 this morning.

Wooten and her abductor Savage were found on a county road 6 miles from Highway 1. The bodies were a half-mile in on private property.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol helicopter first spotted the bodies.

“They then sent in a ground search team to that location and recovered the two bodies,” said Mark Bratcher, Ada Police Department Spokesman.

Jerry Don Savage was arrested and charged four weeks ago after he kidnapped Donna Wooten – Caitlin’s mother.

“It’s my understanding that he was arrested, charged and jailed and he bonded out, it was $200,000 and he was able to meet bond, which that’s pretty unusual because that’s a high bond,” said Bratcher. “He was out on bond when he abducted Caitlin yesterday.”

Ada Police, the Pontotoc County Sheriff’s Department, Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, and the FBI are looking into various individuals in connection with the deaths. OSBI spokeswoman Jessica Brown says landowner Saye Sliger was arrested as a possible accessory to the crime.

Ada High School officials say there are vigils and prayer sessions scheduled, and counselors will be available tomorrow and into the week for students coping with the loss.

Wooten was a member of the colorgaurd at Ada High School.

ADA, Okla. – The bodies of a 16-year-old cheerleader and a 47-year-old man were found Saturday less than 24 hours after the girl was seen getting into a pickup at her high school, officials said.

The bodies of Caitlin Elizabeth Wooten and Jerry Don Savage were spotted shortly before 10 a.m. Saturday by troopers searching for the girl, said Mark Bratcher, an Ada spokesman.

The deaths appear to be a murder-suicide, said Jessica Brown, a spokeswoman for the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.

Mr. Savage had previously lived in the area and knew the owner of the land where the bodies were found, authorities said. The landowner, Saye Sliger, was arrested as an accessory to the crime and is being held in the Pontotoc County Jail, Ms. Brown said.

Mr. Savage at one time dated the girl's mother, Donna Wooten, and was recently arrested on charges of attempting to kidnap her, Ms. Brown said. He was out of jail on bond.

Ms. Wooten, a member of the color guard at Ada High School, was last seen about 3 p.m. Friday getting into a dark green, late model Dodge pickup.
