Yep - it was definitely time for a new one so that anyone on dial up didn't have any problems waiting for pictures to load. Here's the link to the last thread, and don't forget to look in the thread index for all of the great photos posted since the thread began.
This thread, for anyone just joining us here, is where we share our own photos (or photos from friends or relatives when they've given permission) of nature - wildlife, scenary, old cars, photo art - you name it - as long as it is not of your kitties. We want them to have threads all their own!! Or you can also post them in our "This is my Cat and I'm PROUD" thread. Please remember, these photos are the property of the poster and shouldn't be for any reason.
Okay all you shutterbugs! Let's start posting those pics!
I forgot make sure photos are resized to no wider than 640 pixels before submitting so they don't widen the thread. If photos are too wide, we'll have to delete them and then you can post again after resizing. Ana, I loved your pics! Post some more in this new thread!!!
Here's one to get us going - taken this winter. The background color is the color of the sky. Photo was taken at sunrise.
Nice new thread, Deb
I see a spider on that icicle..really!
Deb - thank you dearheart for the beautiful new thread! Umm, are you pointing the finger at us?! I'm only kidding, it is a FANTASTIC PHOTO!!!
I have some new Wildflower pix taken at Indian Sands to post & share with youse guys, WHEN/IF I can get Care2 to cooperate?! Grrrrrrrr!!! the dang thing !@#!!#$!! is wearing me out and inflaming my temper!!!
Indian Paintbrush blossom that I photographed at, belive it or not, Indian Sands! We have several different varieties of Indian Paintbrush here on the coast. This short beauty does NOT fit any of the photos or discriptions in my Wildflower book! These bright, and very beautiful, flowers were just beginning to bloom, this one was very short so I was down on my knees, again!
Oregon Anemone, I thought! After more researching I believe it is Western Wood Anemone, anemone lyallii of the Buttercup Family (Ranunculaceae).
I have a few more but I need to get out of here and get some work done, like housework, uck! Also to give others a chance to post. Take care Shutterbugs and have a wonderful Friday!
Those are really pretty, Meralyn! Good job. My husband thought I'd hurt my back and was stuck in the weird position I was in taking that icicle from that angle We do just about anything to get that shot, don't we? Here's another.
Gorgeous shot Deb and so unusual! Really quite unique shots!
Yep, we sure do, go to great lengths that is in trying for a great shot! We're not a bit crazy, though, just a bit fanatical, LOL!!!
Great shots. They are so clear and beautiful. Nice job.
Very nice flowers Meralyn, and that is unusual Deb. I like it!
Pretty flowers, Meralyn!
Great shots of the icicles, Deb.
I would never be able to get into the positions you girls must to get these shots. Good going!!
Thank you very much ladies!
I can only do hikes like I did to Indian Sands with the help of extra strength pain killer. Oh well, that's how I get thru the day most of the time any way.
Have a great weekend Shutterbugs, and HAPPY EASTER!
ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS SANDREA!!! WELL DONE!!!
And thank you with all my heart!
Have a wonderful Easter everyone!!!
That photo is beautiful Sandrea. I love it, and Happy Easter to everyone here. I am watching the 10 commandments now. It is really good.
Work has been crazy the past few days, so I have not had much free time to stop by. I need to get to bed the alarm will be going off WAY TO EARLY. Beautiful photos everyone sorry I don't have time to night to comment on them individually.
PS Happy Easter
Lila, that is really a great shot. I love your water drops. Sandrea, what a gorgeous picture. Have you been holding out on us, girl??? We will expect more posting of photos now that we know you do take them!
Lila, that's wonderful pic with water drops. So much prettier then the rain drops running down my window right now.
Hey, Deb! Thanks!
Lila - your macro of water dropletts is RIGHT ON, AGAIN!!! Superb work girl!!!
Sandrea - your shot of the Easter Lilly with the Cross in the background is ETHERAL!!! Tell us how you achieved the soft look fore & aft!? Please?! I am honestly very impressd with it! And, you can sign your work thru Picasa, easily.
Have a wonderful Easter, or just Sunday, Shutterbugs!
It was simply a well meaning Easter greeting. I'm sorry if i mislead anyone, but i did not take that pic; i borrowed it. I assumed you would know that since i've mentioned a few times that i don't own a good camera and, evidently,
am no photographer, either amatuer or professional, and yes, i would have signed my name to it if i was that good.
Sandrea - since you posted it in this Photography thread, which is supposed to be our own photos, or once in-awhile a family member or friend's, we of course took it to be yours. It was a lovely thought on your part but perhaps it should have been in Chit Chat as a graphic?
We wont beat you, too severely, 'cause your heart was in the right place!
We'll forgive you this time, Sandrea, since it is a gorgeous picture, and the message beautiful as well. We know you put it in here with the very best of intentions.
But don't do it again!
Okay, well, I guess you have all missed seeing my sunrises/sets???? Well, I'm going to post this one anyway since it is the only new photo I have for now.
and here's another of the beach in So Cal
Deb - gorgeous sunset! I never get tired of them. And great wave shot, too! Your camera really stopped down the water droplets! Must have been a bright enough day for it to use a fast shutter speed or was it manual?
Hi Deb... thanks for this new thread...your shots are just great I love the icicle! Lila, Sandrea, Meralyn, great pictures too, lovely flowers and sunsets.
I need to read my camera's manual in order to change the settings, I think I have not done many improvements on the quality of the pictures.
Here is one I took yesterday, on Easter day
Thanks, ladies. Meralyn, the camera was on auto for the wave. I was too busy trying not to get soaked up to my knees in the rising tide when I was taking these to mess around on manual. It was also a crop of one piece of a picture of a large wave. I did, however, shoot the sunset on manual and, of course, I did not write my settings down!! Arrgggggg. The sky was way too bright on the auto, so I just started messing with it on manual. Anyway, I guess I need to take pen and paper with me now so I can know what settings I used. I usually just mess with them until I get the look I want in the little monitor. Ana, your rose is really very pretty. The colors on your camera are good. I think your camera was focusing on the leaves in that shot, instead of the rose. Most cameras have a little box or brackets which let you know what it is focusing on. Sometimes you just have to keep moving it and pressing down on the shutter lightly to see where it is locking on in the picture you are trying to take. Also, check to see if your camera has a "macro" setting. If so, put it on macro and then move in a bit closer to your subject - in this last one that would be the rose itself and not so much of the leaves. It just takes practice and reading - lots of reading that manual. Try stuff with the camera with that manual right there with you. I used to go around the house shooting doorknobs just so I could see how to do what the manual was saying for me to do! You can also crop your rose if you've taken the photo on the very fine setting. Your pictures are good, Ana. They will just get better and better as you and that camera get to know each other.
Ana - gorgeous rose! It really is a beautiful photo but just a tad bit out of focus. Deb had a lot of good advice for you so I wont go there also. But you might try sharpening your pic thru Picasa just for the fun of it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't depending on the resolution. If you go too far the photo will start breaking up and go grainy.
Thanks for the info for me, too, Deb. I gotta go to bed now, bushed! Went out for a walk late afternoon, strong, cold wind, too much!
Deb and Meralyn, great advise. Yes, the focus is on the leaves instead of the rose, you can see some dried drops on the leaves... I will try the "macro" option, I will have to read quite a bit I think! Deb I forgot to say that the picture of the drops is beautiful, I love it! Good night, I am tired...
That is a pretty color flower Ana. I love yellow.
Wild violets in a field where I love to walk. The field lies just above the beach so catches the wind, boy howdy didn't it yesterday! The wind has also blown the sand up there and there are a few small sand dunes! When your fighting a 25-30 mi pr hr north wind it is NOT fun to walk, my walk yesterday was short! But I needed to get out and excercise! I did feel better afterwards, after I thawed out!!!
The violets are small, very short, so these shots also required getting down on my knees and using my arms as a tripod! Care2 is being as stubborn as a jack-ASS this morning, AGAIN! So I'm having to copy/paste these one at a time, can NOT make two connections!
I cropped, sharpened a little, other-wise this is from the original photo.
I'll be back later Shutterbugs, have to get off the Internet now so Harry can call me!
Have a great day, we are NOT! Raining, COLD, snow down to 700', BRRRRR!!!
Here is more violets, and also dandilion with a hunny bee coming in for some pollen.
Wow, we have some very talented ladies in this group. Lila, Ana, Sandrea, Deb, Meralyn you all have the most wonderful photos. Keep up the photography.
Janie you are so talented, great photos, I love the yellow flower with the bee. Your camera must be very fast to make that shot! Also a great close- up!
Thank you Ana. I love the photos you have been submitting of the flowers. They are excellant. Hope you are feeling better and I do like your new car, love the color its my favorite.
Ooooooh! those are great shots, ladies! I love the little violets. Both of yours make them look so large. And that bee catch!! Janie! That is a great shot. Were you on macro or did you zoom it? Ana, I'm glad you got your little car and hope you are feeling better. Nothing to share now. I will try to get some photos uploaded later.
coming in at another angle
Beautiful flower and Bee Janie, and I love your Sunset and ocean too Deb. That water is very inviting.

Thank you Donna, and Deb
beautiful photos every, well here is my ugly bug.
And here is a close up of the head:
Great pics, ladies!!
Lila, I love the "ugly bug" very cool!
Great ugly Bug Lila. I am wondering what the thing is that sticks out of his head.
There's more to bugs than meets the eye
Lila, that is a really great picture! Don't you love seeing those little bugs up close and personal? Amazing what they actually look like when magnified! As always, beautiful flower! How are you doing with your camera, Ana?
Lila, that is just so pretty. Even the bud is lovely!
The flower is very pretty Lila. I had to go back and look at the bug because the last time I looked it I thought there was ONE thing sticking out. Now I see that there are 2. So they are antennas. Are they also called feelers, or am I thinking of something else?
Jimmy says there is a wasp that actually turns his head to watch you. Not sure which one it is, but that would sure be interesting to see up close. I know that I read that Hornets and yellow jackets are MEAN.
Hey, Donna - Jimmy is RIGHT!! I got stung by 5 or 6 yellow jackets on my hand once when I was cleaning out the horse's water trough. They would NOT let up!! Ouch!! Anyway, here is my flower contribution. I have no idea what they are - they were just pretty. I hope I didn't post them already
Deb...those are very pretty!
Thank you, Sandrea. I guess I read your post wrong, Donna - I have no idea if the little buggers turn their heads to look at you so don't know if Jimmy was right or not - I do know about the dang things being mean, though!!
Those flowers are so pretty Deb, and the yellow jackets don't turn their heads but they keep on stinging. We have those boarer Bees out now that make holes in wooden and go into them. They are awful.
The guy next door disturbed some yellow jackets and they attacked him going down his pants too, and he ran in the house to pull them off. I would have looked the other way. He moved something that they were nesting in. There is a big assortment of wasps out now. I hate all of them along with this weather. It is 80 degrees in here now with a hot cat on my lap.
Hello everyone!! The pictures are just wonderful. With all the bugs and flowers, it is really beginning to look like spring! I thought I would jump on the flower bandwagon.
And a close up.
Oh, and one more. This little guy was keeping an eye on me while I took the pictures. If I got too close he would run further up the tree.
Eve, really pretty flower shots! The squirrel looks so cute staring right at you. They seem so brave now. When I was in Denver, I saw them all over downtown and just running around with the people like no big deal. Great to see you posting in here! Thanks for sharing - and thanks, Donna, re flowers.

Eve those are very good, are they azelias? Sorry can't spell today.
Oh I love that Squirrel shot. I have never had a squirrel come to me out front, or just not run for that matter. He is so cute.
I love that color pink too. It is beautiful.
Hi-everybody-this is the first time I came in this thread-the pictures are beautiful-Janie, Deb, Eva...Wow! I have to come in here more often!
Pretty flowers, Eve and that squirrel is real cute!
Donna, those are nice pics. Pretty scene.
How nice to see green grass and a tree blooming. We don't have that here yet.
We have one more day of heat, and the temps will drop back into the 60's again. This heat is hard to take.
Deb love the blue flowers the are wonderful. Eve that squirrel is just darling. Donna I love the dogwood photos. I am glad that you will be getting some relief from the heat.
Lila, those are fantastic! I love seeing insects (and flowers) up close. COOL!
Sandrea, have you explored your camera ? I have not been very active lately. Too much work to do, so little time to take pictures...
Oooo... Lila, that bug is really neat. I love the detail and the fact that you can get a shot that close. Donna, I love dogwoods, especially when they are in bloom. Keep up the good work everyone!!
Hi Ana! I got so enthused when you mentioned the same camera that I got the manual out, but it doesn't tell much.
I tried to play with the setting but can't seem to get it to do much. I've only tried it indoors. Tomorrow I'm going to practice on some purple flowers coming up out front.
See how they turn out
Well, you can all call me the unpro. I am really not very good at it, so if something turns out I am surprised. You guys are good though.
Lila, I love to see those creepy things up close. Could you tell me what that bug is. I get the feeling it is one of the wasp family. I tried to get a close up of the horrible wood boarer or borer bees. The huge things that drill holes. It was flying around too much though.
I do have a super creep surprise for all of you if I can find it in my album. It is a forensic bug, and they find out how long someone is dead by when they show up. They show up in the heat when the canned food was going bad, like if I fling the food off to the side or before I get back to collect the plates. Canned food can't be left out for long in the heat. OH, and the darn ants got up on the picnic table into the stainless steel bowls I use for dry food.
Yay! I can't wait for the super creep surprise
I haven't found the bug yet. I was almost thorough the album and then it vanished. here is Junior.
Awe, hi Junior! He's so cute! That's a good picture, Donna.
I found the Bug. They can tell when a body dies according to when this bug shows up. I can tell the when the food dies when the bug shows up.
I love all the pics!! Lila, you are just getting better and better!!! Those bee (?) shots are absolutely fantastic!!! I'm so glad you shared with us! Donna, you really have some beautiful scenary at your place - I love the dogwood tree! That's a pretty big one, isn't it? Cute bug lol I think I heard about that little thing on CSI. Well, I hate to disappoint here, but I am not adding any bugs tonight. The first one here is a digi art that I did of icicles
And this next one here is a 'can you find all the deer' photo
These guys hang out across the road from us as there is a reservoir beyond the trees. And the next is one of my infamous sunsets - this one was scanned because I took it back in 1980 with the slr. Sunset on the farm - Iowa
Beautiful Sunset Deb. I like those trees too.
The Doe out front.
I took this through the door, and the thing in the front going across might be part of the screen door.
I took this through the window, as the Turkey was on the bushes.
The super creep bug! Thanks for finding that pic
Nice icicles, Deb. I don't see one bug in them. In the next pic I see 3 deer, a moose, and a jack rabbit
Lovely sunset from the farm!
I can't imagine a doe on my front yard. That's great, Donna!
You have an incredible eye. When you saw all that stuff I went and looked and they blended in. I saw 2 deer I think.
I forgot to mention that there are a lot of deer hanging out in the back now. My next door neighbor has a sign now that says wild life habitat, and we let ours close up real nice for lots of wild life to live in peace.
Thanks everyone re my photos I had thought that was a bee but some one in my photography group told me it is a flower fly. They look like bees but bees have 4 wings and flies only have 2. Dona great photo of Junior and your bug is interesting I had never seen those before. Dona great photo of the turkey we have wild ones here but they never come in our yard. Deb I love your sunsets. That icicle is cool (pun intended) Great job of catching those dear in such a natural environment. I could not decide if I was going to post a flower or a bug tonight so I am doing both these are yellow star tulips they grow wild here and if you look close you will see a spider.
I see it, Lila!! And that is a great photo!! I do like your camera, but you know that you have a really creative eye!
