Mouse here, I am having problems making a new thread. I hope this one works. I will put the link in the next post. 1 min ago Mouse here. Noss no sign of comehere yet. I am afraid she is gone forever. Later today mom will be taking her binoculars and Chewy and walk even further down the creek for the last time. Her mom thinks maybe a hawk got her. She said she was a small cat. She was a rescue abandoned when her previous owner moved out and left her and she was very sick when found about 5 years ago. She had a good life since then, but I think too short. She deserved more. Oh life can be sad. I am a happy cat now but I hope I have a full lifetime of this happiness. And all of you too! Comehere lived across the creek and up the hill from me. This worries mom. We have never had anyone to just disappear according to her. She could even be in someone else's house. One of the bad things, her front claws were removed. Say a little prayer for her. Hi Stripes, missed you lately. Loved you always, Mouse edit post
Maybe it worked this time. Here is the link to our last thread. http://www.care2.com/c2c/groups/disc.html?gpp=47&pst=1697538
Morning Mouse. Hope comehere is safe somewhere. Her mom has to be upset. I love you Mouse! Stripes.
Stripes here, I just got up from my nap. My Mom's Brother brought her over Some Turkey scraps for the outdoor cats. I didn't see him as I was hiding under the bed as I don't like people except Mom! They all chowed down. Where's everybody been? I miss you Mouse! Love from Stripes.
Hello to Mouse & Stripes.
Mouse~ I am sorry to hear about Comehere not being found, it makes me sad and even sadder to know that her front claws were removed. Be careful if your going outside to play okay.
Stripes~ That is good to hear of your mom's brother bringing some scraps for the outdoor cats. Bet they were happy.
Looks like I will be getting a roommate. Mom needs to take in Sushi which is my mom's daughter's cat. He is a boy cat, fixed and has stayed here before. Needs to stay here awhile with us. Not use to having another cat around and don't know how he is going to take to the dog. As the dog comes in for the night. So this should be interesting to see. Well, not much else happening. It is getting cold here at nights so sleeping on uncle's bed or under the blankets. He lets me take up all the room I want. Meows~ Noss

Hello everyone! Ajax here...just stopping by before my humans catch me blogging again. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Sugar I'm sorry about your missing cat. Your family is in are prayers.......OH oh...here they come...My humans. Got a go now!
Hello my Stripes! Mouse here, your faithful boyfriend! Hey I heard on the news today that turkey makes you sleepy! There is something in turkey that has a chemical that is good for a nice nap. Since mom fixed that turkey breast for us Friday I have been sleepy! So it works.
Noss you might have a little fun while Sushi is visiting. I can just see and hear in my mind's eye the three of you running and chasing each other. Keep warm!
Ajax it is our neighbor's kitty that is missing. Mom just can't imagine what happened to her. She says she has lived here for 35 years and nothing like this happened before that she is aware of. Now she will worry about all of us whenever we go outside. Little Joe and I are the two guilty of wanting to be outside. She makes sure I am in before she goes to bed, but Little Joe stays outside most of the time. It has been a little cold lately and he has been staying in at night again. Comehere got out sometime in the day and by night fall everyone was out looking for her. Including me and mom. Oh, my prayers are still with her. That someone took her in. We live in a rural setting so there are no close neighbors.
Goodbye for now, and stay inside Stripes, it's cold out!
Good Morning to my sweet Mouse. I haven't been out since Sunday when I ran out when Mom was taking her wash to the car, I was pretty sneaking as she doesn't let me out on Sundays as she does her wash at her Dad's as she doesn't have one of those things to put it in. I was out a long time as she yelled at me, but got mad when I wouldn't come so left me out. She came home just before dark I met her at the door I was so glad to see her and I was hungary. I'm still praying for comehere. Noss it might be fun to have another cat help gain up on the dog! Ajax good to see you here! Mouse do you think those other cats ate too much Turkey and there still napping as why then haven't been on. I going to tell Mom I want something to eat, then a catnap. Later. Love you Mouse! >^..^< >^..^<
Hey all you kitties. Hi to Mouse, Stripes and Ajax. What happend to all the others? Oh well. Yes, I am still praying also for Comehere. It has been getting cold at nights as well. Winter is here as now we will get snow from time to time on the mountain tops. Since it has been getting cold at nights I sneak in under the covers with uncle to sleep. We keep each other warm. As for Sushi coming over, guess we will make do and see how we all get along. That dog just loves to run around the house, that's when I don't like it and stay clear unless it bothers me then I'll swat a paw at that dog. Okay everyone. Hope you have a good nite and keep warm you fur balls. Noss
Mouse here. Speaking of warm, boy the bed feels so good at nights and days right now! I ate a large breakfast and went back to bed early this morning. I just got up and stuck my nose outside and decided to go back to bed shortly. The ground is white with frost. I call it ice. Black and White slept under the rain cover on the last comfortable chair mom has out on the deck. Soon she will bring it in. She stuck her hand under the cover while he was still sleeping and it was toasty warm from his body heat. No wind can get through the cover. Any way she didn't open the garage for him again. She is kind of nervous about opening it because of coons. So far no coon troubles this fall. I am crossing my fingers cause they look really mean!
Stripes I am so glad to hear you made it safely on Sunday. You gotta be more careful of yourself. Bad things can happen so quickly and unexpectedly. When mom leaves I really wish you would stay in side. Look at poor Comehere. She is lost, maybe forever. I don't want to hear from your mom any bad news about you. Worrying about your eye was enough to last me a life time. I bet all the turkey has caused everycat to nap a lot more and that's why they aren't here. I guess we just have to have more turkey too and take naps right along with them.
Hey Noss you are going to have fun with a partner against your dog. Wait and see! Little Joe has been coming in for the night these cold nights. That makes mom happy and I am not decided about it yet. He hasn't bothered me yet, but I keep one eye open when he is in. I guess that is why I need more naps in the day!!!! Since Comehere has went missing she worries more and more about us. She just isn't used to things like that happening around here. She took several pictures this morning of Rosie and Punkin and Chewy and is so disappointed that she can't show you that she hasn't even downloaded them yet. She says she used to download immediately cause she was so excited to post them.
My bed is calling, so My sweet Stripes and good buddy Noss, happy nap time,
Stripes here. I sure wish your Mom couls post again, can she put them in her album cause I know my mom would post them for her! asked her. I'm being good, mom hasn't let me out since Sunday. I've been napping alot even without Turkey. Hugs and kisses to you Mouse. Later. >^..^<
Hi Mouse, Noss, Stripes and Ajax! This is Pablo Picasso. I haven't been able to get to the keyboard lately but I wanted to ask you guys about a weird thing that happenedto me last week. First, Mom didn't give me any breakfast. I thought that was unfair--I was hungry! Then she put me in the traveling box and strapped me into the car seat. I was scared. Strange people in a strange smelling place handled me and when I woke up and it was afternoon. I felt all woozy, but Mom came to get me and took me home in the traveling box. That made me feel better. Since then my back end feels a little different, but I can't really say it hurts. Any idea what happened? I hope it never happens again!
no pablo, she just had you have a little operation, that makes you not want to run off , my mamma got me the same surgery, and yes it feels a little strange at first, but it goes away after a few days. well i have not been on the key board lately either so hi noss, stripes, and mouse, and ajax, mamma had to do some christmas shopping, and i have been helping her wrap, but she does not like the way i wrap, i do not know why though, i just really try to help with the ribbons and bows, we have not got our tree yet, we usually get it after the first of dec. i love the christmas tree, it is so fun to climb, i am getting to big to go up in it, so i think this year i will just look at the pretty lights, cause again for some reason mamma does not like me too climb it, because i tend to knock it over when i climb it. well got to go eat my breakfast. love and purrs. babette
Hi babette,Pablo, Noss, Ajax & Mouse! Pablo I had that happen to me 3 years ago. Babette my mom doesn't put up a tree as we have no room. Its fun to help them wrap things isn't it. Let me know if you decide to climb the tree! I'm going out as its warmer today, so gotta go. Love to all. I Love you Mouse! >^..^<
Hello Pablo, Babette, Ajax, Stripes and Mouse.
Pablo~ I know I had that done to me when I was small and so don't remember much. All I know is I don't like that strange box to be put in as I know it takes you some where and I don't like it. I'm sure your mommy did something good for you as you are back and no harm done.
Mouse~ you got coons there? Do they bother you? I have only seen thme on tv where sometimes these racoons will go through a pet door and come in the house. One even came in to get the dog's food and a cat's food. The cat tho' seen the coon come in and trying to get his food so he put on his ferocious look, fur all out and chased that coon right back out. It was funny to watch. But I am wondering if they really do bother cats. So you say you got snow out there now. Wow, I bet it is cold. Yep, I would be back in bed as well.
Stripes~ We don't have a tree in the house either, mom says the place is too small for a tree in here. I help with wrapping presents and the ribbons too. It is fun but mom doesn't think so when I lay on everything. I like to be the center of attention you know.
Babette~ You'll have to let us know when you get your tree and what kind of things you can get into with it. wish your mom could take a picture of you to post.
Well got to go as the dog is in here causing all sorts of trouble and you know me, I got to get in to scolding it too. Bye for now. Noss
Mom says this the only tree i'm allowed in. I'm going outside maybe I will find it. He! He! That will teach her! Love to all. Mouse I Love & Miss you!
Noss, love your picture! Purrs Stripes.
Mouse here. It's good to hear from everycat! Hello my Stripes, Pablo, Noss, Babette and Ajax! Oh poor Pablo. I had that a few short months ago. I am fine now, I feel normal now. Maybe a little more relaxed than before. As time goes by you will be glad your mom took you in for this operation.
Noss a raccoon will hurt a cat or dog for food. Not just out of the blue and you may be lucky and never have a problem between them, but mom doesn't want to take a chance. Also they have diseases and parasites which are extremely bad. They have some kind of worm that is really bad. Mom saw it on the Animal Planet, the monsters inside me. She couldn't go outside one morning, a racoon had gone crazy and even tried to come in the patio glass doors after her. She had to call the police because she thought it might be rabid, but it was just a disease, a common one, distemper, that coons suffer from. Don't get me wrong, She thinks they are adorable and has pictures of the 4 babies that made moves to hang around my deck. She used a squirt gun with a little vinegar added cause they, and cats, don't like vinegar. Now and then one will show up again. She had to buy a humane trap last winter, one came into the house like the commercial, through the pet door, and she had to trap and remove it. She has pictures of them in her care2 albums, wildlife I think. She makes sure all of us have rabies shots even though there hasn't been a case of rabies in this county for many years. We want to keep it that way.
Stripes mom says we aren't getting a tree either, just the ones in the yard. The blue spruce she bought many years ago is a giant of a tree. She said she used to trim it. No way now. Well my Stripes, mom says she need to say hello in Chit Chat and then she has to leave. I guess that means it is nap time for me. Love you Stripes,
Ajax here, yep! no tree for us either. My two rescue sisters botched that for us last year....Sigh...My brothers and I are very upset about that.
We to have raccoons terrorizing the neighborhood. We so want to join in there mayhem. "It's for the cause." They told us as the scurried away. I hope everyone is having a great day. Enjoy yourselves and thank goodness it's Friday.
Just wanted to say goodnite to all the fur kids. Love you Mouse!
Noss here. Hello to all the kitties here. Oh Mouse, I did not know that racoons can be that dangerous. I know they can be a pest but did not know the diseases they can carry or go crazy. Please be careful and your mommy. Hey, sounds like a nice tree you have in the yard. Have you tried to climb it?
Hello Ajax~ Well, as you can see from the picture I posted here, we won't have a tree either. Too much trouble or shall I say we would get into too much trouble with it.
Hello Stripes~ Nice picture you posted. Love the glitter thing going on. I guess Pablo still must be feeling under the weather.
Well, good night to all. It is quite warm tonight. Trying to keep cool. Guessing we are going to have a storm coming. G-nite. Noss
Mom just got home! I wonder where everyone is! They must be climbing the xmas tree. Mouse where are you? I miss you! Love Stripes.
Hi all catz....Bandit here!! What is all this talk of trees??? Thanks for the pictorial Noss but it still doesn't answer my questions. It sounds like you mean they bring a tree INTO the house...oh my gosh is that right??? I know my mom loves me but holy smokes, I had no idea she loved me THAT much!! Maybe she needs it for all the cookies she is making. The house smells so good lately because mom has been baking for a few days. She has everything she owns on the kitchen counters and is still mumbling about missing something.....could it be the tree? I have a feeling this is going to be a very good month!! I am sleepy and I don't think I have eaten turkey for awhile. I ate breakfast and mooched around the house for awhile. Roxy is sleeping in her bed and Savanna is sleeping by the stairs, with one eye open watching me. I don't know why but she seems to have mellowed out a bit lately. She still chases me around but now she comes and lays near me and tries to play with me. I'm confused; she told me a long time ago that my days were numbered around here. Mom says she is finally accepting the fact that I live here now...I hope so. She keeps life interesting but sometimes it's nice to just snooze in the sunbeam on the living room floor and not worry about her pouncing on me. Speaking of snooze, here comes my mom to take the computer. I think I will get cozy on her lap. Ciao everybody!
Mouse here. Ajax, what cause? Coons here just want FOOD! After she had that bad year with the coon coming into the house, she is extremely nervous about them. She said she used to feed them all the left over food but now she thinks its better not too. Also not too far away there supposedly has been sightings of coyotes. There is no way she will put food out now. That would draw them in too. Can you believe a government being so dumb as to introduce coyotes into an area where they were run out many years ago. They said to control the deer population. Dummies, don't they know coyotes don't go after healthy deer? One that is dying or already dead, yeah and if they stumble onto a baby, maybe. Deer babies don't have any smell to attract them. Oh well, I'm just a cat and what do I know?
Bandit! Wow! It sounds exciting at your house. Nothing is much different here. Mom promised to put a tree up next year and she wants to decorate it will all natural things, you know, like pine cones, thistles, etc. And maybe a string of popcorn, what ever that is. I haven't seen that yet. Aren't sunbeams the most marvelous things? Little Joe has mellowed out too. He still watches me and I am a little wary of him, but he hasn't tried to hurt me since the last big time attack. Black and White attacked me when mom and me were outside a few days ago. She came running and was about 4 steps to short to stop him from jumping on me. Chewy got there first and stopped the fight and sent Black and White to the deck. He is a funny cat. He will be just fine for a while and then suddenly he becomes the cat from hell.
Hi Noss. I have upteen million trees and am trying to climb them all some time. I run as fast as I can on the ground and then straight up the tree. Mom is so afraid I will run head on into one of the trees sometime. She keeps telling me to be careful. I love your pic of the tree with the kitty. I don't think mom will have one that big next year. She said just a small one. Maybe as high as 4 feet.
Hi Stripes. Oh Stripes, yesterday Girl Dog had an accident, she could have been seriously hurt if mom hadn't jumped in and saved her. Girl is the old dog that is clumbsy and seemingly senile now. Living in the country we alwas burn our paper trash when ever it rains, and it rained and drizzled all day yesterday. Mom was standing there with her fire stick keeping everything going. When along came Girl with her nose to the ground. Mom knew that as clumbsy as Girl is that she could fall into the fire. She reached down to pull her back and when mom touched her she jumped right into the middle of the fire. Mom didn't hesitate, she reached down into the fire and tried to pick Girl up who was fighting her more than trying to get out. She got her and put her on the ground and put out her burning fur and ran to the house with Girl fighting and screaming trying to get away. She put Girl under the cold water in the utility room sink to cool any possible burns down as quick as she could. Long story short, besides a lot of scortched hair, shorter whiskers now, she seems okay. Even her feet is okay. She only lost hair. There is no sign of a burn to her skin. Mom can't believe it. It seemed forever until she got her out but it could only have been a matter of a very few seconds. Mom is hurt. Girl chewed her arithitic thumb up. She has bruises and bite marks on and all around it. No burns though. Her boots might have suffered a little. Thank God she had them on, it kept her feet from being burned. She had to stand with one foot in the edge of the fire to get under Girl and get her out. All's well that ends well. I know Girl will not be allowed within a mile of a fire again. A very good thing to know, if I am ever in trouble mom will be there. Or Chewy. I've missed you too Stripes. Mom has some pictures to put in her album. One will be me peeking out of a bag. Since I read about bags here I wanted one and mom got me a couple. She will put it in my album later today and you can go there and look at it. I was thinking of you when peeking out! It's nap time. Even Little Joe is in and napping.
Love you Stripes,
Wow Mouse a lot of things happened at your place. Glad girl dog is okay, & your Mom was there. I had some catnip Mom bought from the store, I ate some of it then rolled around in it, I had it all over me, Mom laughed at me, She gave some to the outdoors they all took turns rolling in it Mom said it was made in some place called Chins, She said maybe I would like it better if it was fresher, cause it didn't do much for me! Glad Little Joe is being nicer, He knows Chewy will protect you or else he'd afraid Santa cat won't get him anything who ever that is. Bandit I think its some kind of fur tree ( a tree with fur how funny is that) then they hang things on it and put lights on it and won't let us climb it. at least thats what my Mom told me as we don't have one . She told me about Bandit and Smokey Joe cats that were born before me that aren't here anymore( she said there at the rainbow bridge) climbed the tree and knocked it over and broke somethings. I'm going to nap now as I'm tried. Love you Mouse!
Hello Bandit~ Sounds like your mommy has been really busy cooking a lot of things there. Must smell delicious over there. Glad Savanna is starting to like you now instead of chasing you around. But you never know when she may get the urge to do that again. As for trees in the house, I really don't know why they want to bring a tree in the house but I am all for it. Makes a wonderful thing to climb.
Hello Mouse~ You have coyotes there as well. Yikes, I heard they will even get cats and small dogs. I can understand how the dumb the government can be as we have something similar here. They brought in mongooses to control the rat population but you know what.....the mongoose hunts by day and sleeps at night. The rats come out at night and sleeps during the day. Go figure. OH my! That must've been quite a scare with Girl Dog. Glad she is okay and did not get burned seriously and you mom. My mom got an email from a friend about using white flour on burns. When something like your hand getting burned, even in boiling water accidently, quickly put your hand in a bag of cold white flour for ten minutes, it will prevent you from getting blisters, and ease the pain and maybe no pain at all. So if you ever get a burn try covering it in flour for 10 minutes. Suppose to help better that cold water. But so glad the Girl is okay and your mom, whew what a scare.
Stripes~ Did you say catnip? Where? I need to get some more of that stuff, I'm an addict. Mom was making a catnip bag for a friend's kitty to have and I was going crazy over smelling that stuff. Mom gave me some of course to roll around in but wow, something about it I just love. Okay everyone, hope you have a good nite. Noss
Mouse here, hi lovely Stripes and my friend Noss. Girl and Mom was very lucky. Yesterday morning mom got to check Girl out totally, belly, butt etc. and except for hair loss the skin isn't even red. Thanks for the flour tip though. I will tell mom. She has an aloe plant she uses for burns, but the next one she will try the flour first. She spent a lot of time yesterday just soothing Girl who really appreciated it. She gave her special food too. I have catnip in two places outside and both places are still green. One is in a very protected area and should last quite a while. We also have some of the dry catnip which is grown in Canada (thank you Canada!) and packaged in USA. Mom has never heard or seen a coyote and neither has her neighbors. I spend quite some time outside in nice weather at night as does mom. I laugh at her. She takes a sheet outside and covers everything but her eyes and nose so mosquitos don't get her. She lets me lay on her lap. But she heard some one say they had seen a coyote and it was only about 10 miles away from home and that isn't much ground for them to cover. We don't know much about them but aren't they night time critters?
Mom just realized Tom has only 3 months to go before he is 22. And he is a healthy 22. Tomorrow Punkin goes to the 'vet'. You know that place I went to and came home with a sore rear end? But it's as good as new now of course. The last time she went to the vet mom told the tech not to get her out of the carrier, but she wouldn't listen. Punkin came out and climbed the walls, the blinds and it took her forever to get her and put her back into the carrier. When she made Punkin's appointment she told the lady she didn't want anyone but the vet opening her carrier. The vet, according to mom, is a wonderful lady. I go to a man who I don't think is wonderful. Maybe she will change my vet.
Wow, now that the leaves are just about all gone I can't believe all the squirrel nests! At least that is what mom thinks they are. One or two she though might be hawk nests but she isn't sure. They were made a little different. Some one or the wind has taken a few down this summer. I bet the squirrel nests are cosy and warm for the little ones. I wouldn't mind having a large one for myself! Dead leaves are one of the few things that smell good when dead. Oh that Chewy drug something home that was beyond dead earlier this summer and mom was hacking and hacking, I thoroughly expected a hairball to come up. She dug a hole, buried it and put a log on top of the grave so Chewy couldn 't get to it again. That's one bad thing about Chewy, nothing smells too bad for him. In fact I think the worse it smells, the better he likes it. Have any of you cats noticed that? The only time Chewy gets a bath is when he has found something dead. He likes a bath. He jumps right into the tub and stands there with a smile on his face while mom sprays him with warm water and then shampoos him. He likes the towel drying too! I don't think I would like any of that, so remind me to stay away from dead things.
Every cat here is okay. Tom, Punkin, Kenny, Rosie, Little Joe and of course Black and White Tom. And I am too, though when I can't get on I miss my Stripes and the rest of you.
You all take care, I am going for a nap, Love you Stripes,
Stripes here, wow Mouse that was a long post have you been in the catnip! he!he!, Where did your Mom find the bought catnip? Mom said ours wasn't to good. She tried growing it but the outdoors eat it down to the roots and it didn't come back. Noss, I see your asking Santa Paws for some catnip in excange for the dog, Way to go! Maybe he'll take the dumb bird and bring me some! well its nap time for Mom & me. Love you Mouse. Stripes
Mouse here, Good news, Come Here has been found. She is safely home now.
love you Stripes
stripes here, so glad comehere is home. nite mouse, love you.
Mouse~ That is great news to hear that Comehere came home! Oh, how wonderful and so the family will have a wonderful Christmas now. As for catnips, my mom did try growing some out here but with other cats around here, it would not last. If mom grows it indoors, she needs to protect it from me. Mom is growing some mint and I love the smell of mint, just like cat nip. Your mom must look funny all wrapped up to go outside and enjoy the night air. What about setting up one of those type of tents that has mosquito netting only to see through, then maybe you and your mom could enjoy being in there moquito free. I think they have canopy tents like that.
Stripes~ As you can see I have cat nip on my mind. Tonight I played baby sitter for my mom watching that dog. She placed me on the chair and the dog was interested in seeing how close it could get to me. I just watched the dog and all I have to do is move a paw or my tail and the dog will jump back. Ha, ha. But mom was busy on the computer and did not want the dog to bother her. So I kept the dog's interest on me. Well, hope everyone has a good night. Noss
Mouse here. Good morning my Stripes and Noss. Noss that netting sounds great but mom says it costs money and she would rather spend it on more important things, like cat food and treats!!! Sheets are are already paid for years ago when she had money. They are very used by now but work great for mosquitos and on kitty covers. The neighbor who discovered Comehere in her barn called Mary (comehere's mom) when she saw her. It is a miracle. There were two miracles this week. First Girl Dog not getting really hurt in the fire and then Comehere's return. It sounds like you h ad an interesting night dogsitting. I would have liked to be a little mouse and watching that dog. He must really be a little afraid of you.
Stripes, it is cool if not downright cold outside this morning. It has been in the 50s, this morning it was in the 30s. I already have been outside checking the bird feeders out. I sure don't want them to be empty. I tell mom when they need refilling. I love birdfeeders, don't you? Well I have to be honest, I love watching them and dreaming of catching a few. So far they have been safe. Mom has the feeders up a little too high for me to have any success.
Poor Punkin, it is vet day for her. I hope she gets home safely.
Love you Stripes,
Hello Mouse. I am so glad too that Girl dog did not get burned and that Comehere was found, that is a miracle. Just awesome, I say. Yeah, mom know about how expensive things are, so maybe recycled bed sheets is a good idea. Yeah, I dream about birds too and even getting one. For now watching them from the window is good.
I am on babysitting duty again tonight. That dog is scared of me but tries to see how far she can get close to me. So far it doesn't bother me at all and I ignore her. All I have to do is wave a paw at her while I am laying down on the chair and she jumps back so quickly. It is funny. Other than that I have gotten use to the dog. Well, hope you and who ever else checks in is having a good night. Aloha, Noss
hi mouse , stripes , noss, and everyone else. well sorry i have not been on lately, but mamma is having real trouble with the new operating system of her computer. it is running really slow, and keeps crashing, she may have to take it too the computer guy up the street tomorrow. so how have you all been doing>? mom and i are still wrapping, and dad has been putting up twinkie lights, with our help of course! well just thought i would drop in and say hi, and a big MERRY CHRISTMAS,and HAPPY HOLIDAYS! purrs. babette
Mouse here! Hi Babette we've missed you. Mom has a little problem a few times when she is logged on. Nothing will work until she logs off and back on again. It's like a temporary laziness. If she would wait for what seems like an hour, it would start to work again,
Good morning everycat! It was cold last night. Stripes, Noss and Babette guess what mom is making me? Mackerel cookies! I can't wait to try them. They are baking right now and they smell so good. She let me taste the dough and wow! If the cookies taste that good baked,.,,,,,I'm gonna be a happy cat. As if I'm not already. I hope they cool quickly so I can have one soon.
Noss I wish I could come help you baby sit that dog. That can be a big job. I bet Stripes would too. Between the three of us, we could drive that dog bonkers!!!
Punkin got home okay, a little back to her wildness. She was a wild cat before being trapped and spayed and then adopted by mom. Mom says for a whole year she when she brought her home, she slipped around like a ghost outside and in the garage/basement. Mom said she was just giving her a home base with hopes that some day she would come into the house and be one with the others. It took a full year. She did come into the pet door into the basement during the worst weather but would skeddadle back outside if anyone came into the basement. She was still some scared and certain things can still put her back. But as soon as she forgets about the carrier and the vet she will be loving again. It happened the same way last year. The vet said she will probably always be afraid of unusual happenings. But mom says we gotta get her checked out and given any shots necessary. Our vet has changed their shot routine. Rabies will be every year now instead of every 3. Regular shots will now be every 3 years instead of every year.
The cookies are about ready to be cooled! I am going to sit in front of the counter and wait! I wish I could share with you Stripes and Babette and all cats.
Love you Stripes
Mackerel cookies sounds yummy! Good to hear from you Babette. This is gonna be short as I'm getting to go out side today since I've been good. Later! Love you Mouse!
Mouse here, a short note here too! Have a good evening everycat. Love you Stripes,
Mouse how were the cookies? Love Stripes.
Yeah! Where are those catnip cookies? I'm happy for you Mouse. Sounds like the cat world is in order and all is okay in our world.......Wait a minute Mackerel cookies?
Mouse here, Sorry Ajax, those mackerel cookies are in my refrig. If you want to come and visit I will save some for you and Stripes for a couple of days only. Sorry Noss and all other cats, there aren't that many to go around to everycat. Us kitties have been doing a little snacking. I've been trying to get Chewy to open the door so we could help ourselves. No luck yet.
Mom is worried about Girl Dog. If you send her prayers, pray for a peaceful passing over the Rainbow Bridge. At her age that is all that's left for her. Mom thinks maybe the ordeal in the fire has done more damage to her heart even though her body isn't burnt at all. I'll keep you posted. Her uncle came up last night and kind of checked her over. He thinks she might have had a minor stroke yesterday. Girl ate breakfast and went to potty already today.
Stripes those cookies were very good. I wish I could share them with you. Mom even broke one in half for the dogs. They liked them too.
Black and White has been gone for over 24 hours. Mom says he is 'tomcatting' whatever that is. I know she checked all around for him early yesterday morning when he wasn't here for breakfast. He isn't here this morning either. Now she will worrry until she sees him again. She said every time he goes out like this he comes back with an abscess and she has to scrounge for meds for him.
Love you Stripes,
Mouse, Mom 's going to make me some of those cookies later today! I think ' Tom catting is looking for friends" Hope Girl dog will be okay! Were praying for her! Love you Mouse! >^..^,< Stripes
Hi, Mouse here. Stripes mom says Girl will not be okay until she crosses the Rainbow Bridge. The years have caught up with her. I think she is going to call the vet shortly and make an appointment for tomorrow. Girl's life is not good right now. Mom feels so bad for her.
Talk to you later love,
Mouse I am so sorry to hear about Girl Dog's condition. Maybe the fire was too much for her poor heart to handle. What ever may happen, my prayers to you and your mommy to get through this okay. I know Girl Dog will be okay once she crosses Rainbow Bridge, it is just that it will be sad for awhile without her. Please post a picture of her when you can. Praying for a peaceful passing for Girl Dog. Hugs to you both.
Ajax, I agree with you, Mackeral cookies? I have never heard of that for kitties but does sound good. How the dogs over there? Me, I am still scaring the dog here. This morning it still was dark and so I waited for that dog in the living room to come down. Mom usually takes her out to go potty and she did not suspect me down there by the door. I chased back up and gave her a scare. Mom did not think so tho'.
Hi Babette, hope your mommy gets her computer fixed. Like to see you here more. Glad you were able to check in.
Stripes~ you know how to do those mackeral cookies? What about cat nip ones, yum. Mom caught me being a bad kitty last night. She saw a cabinet door open where the linens are and some were out on the floor. Yup, it was me playing in there. Well, looks like I don't have to babysit the dog tonight but yeah, it sure would be fun having you guys help out. That dog would go bonkers for sure. LOL. Meow to all. Noss
Posting this for Sugar, I hope she doesn't mind. Mom's making me Mackeral cookies now, boy the house smells fishy. I had catnip earlier I never though about cookies. I like to get into where she puts the towels and take a nap. My favorite place as the draw with socks and underwear, I throw it all on the floor so I can get behi nd the draw, sure gets her upset. I would have loved to see that with the dog. Were praying for Girl Dog here. Mouse you be good for your Mom she's going to need your hugs. The cookies are done, let you know! Stripes. I love you Mouse.
Stripes here. Mouse I love you. Stripes.
Hello Stripes, is that a picture of Girl dog? Sure hope things are okay for Mouse and her mommy. Getting kind of concerned as Girl Dog wasn't doing so good. That is a nice picture of her, she looks like a nice dog, pretty too. Yeah, you should think of cat nip cookies next time. Tonight I almost swatted the dog here. She running abk and forth and getting close to me by the chair I was on and almost got her. Wishing every one a good night and praying things are going well for Mouse and her family. By the way, I love the new look to the thread here. Noss

merry christmas kitties! i am having just a glorious time ,climbing up the tree, mamma is not too happy with me though, cause i tipped the tree over! well it is kind of a weak tree, so i do not feel it was exactly my fault. mamma was just a little miffed cause a few of her ornaments broke, but not my catnip ornaments, i am playing with one as we type, and mamma is fixing the tree, but i see her look over here every once in a while, i think to make sure i am not getting near the tree. well i will leave it alone since it means so much to mamma. so how are you mouse, noss, and stripes? having a good holiday season ,i hope, well am going to have a snack. type at you later. purrs and happy holidays. babette
Mouse here. Thank you for posting Girl Dog. She went to the vet's Saturday. Mom is very sad right now. She went out and bought a beautiful poinsetta to make a little happier home. Mom got the clothes together that she wore to hold Girl as she got ready to cross the Rainbow Bridge and Chewy just smelled and smelled. Then when she went to get the poinsetta Chewy smelled and smelled the car where Girl was for her last trip. He seems to know she is gone. He checked her bed out once. Thankfully dogs and kitties understand and don't grieve forever. It is so sad though to see mom right now. She will get better. Chewy seems a little down.
Stripes my cookies are about gone. I shared them with Girl Dog and Chewy when mom baked them. How did they turn out? Mom said the next time she is going to bake them for 3 to 5 minutes longer. Oh Stripes, I just don't know. We are supposed to get snow flurries later today after it has been very warm for several day with lots of rain. Mom caught two buckets of rain water for her flowers. She also has been getting a bucket of water out of the creek to water her house plants. She used to do that for her garden but never thought about using creek water for her inside plants until now.
Noss and Babette I am also a little down. I hope you cats have a wonderful week!
Stripes thank you and your mom for everything. Love you,
Mouse, Sorry about girl Dog, be nice to your Mommy she needs you. Mom made me cookies but I didn't care for them, she said I was a spiled rotten cat. I don't think I smell bad, I think she didn't do something right. I had some catnip which I really enjoyed. Its cold here today, so I've been napping. Babette so you climbed the tree, and saved the catnip ones. Later. Love you Mouse. Stripes.
Mouse~ dear friend and your mommy, you have my condolences for Girl Dog. She is at Rainbow Bridge now with all our other beloved family members enjoying themselves up there. She had a good life with you here and was well loved. She and our other loving family will be waiting for us till we meet again. Give your mommy lost of love, head rubs and cuddling. Keep warm there through that snow flurry and hope things don't ice up.
Babette~ Sounds like your having so much fun with the tree. I know I would be doing the same thing if mom them got one in here. So far mom just made a nice anthurium arrangement on the coffee table. But I got into that too and no matter how much mom scolds me to stay away from it, I keep coming back to it. Hey, what can I say, I am just a curious cat. But I think she does not want me to eat anything from it for fear I may get sick. So she may move it out of my reach now.
hi Stripes~ Hey are we on that catnip trip again. Been trying to bug mom to make me a cat nip pillow to play with. The dog took my other one and made it all slobbery and smelly with it's smell on it. So I don't want it anymore. Can you blame me? G-nite all. Noss
oh dear mouse , i am so sorry about girl dog, but just remember she is at rainbow bridge, happy and healthy, and waiting for all of her family to come up eventually. so please don't be sad, and help your mamma out by being really good, and cuddling with her. love you my mouse. purrs your babette
Stripes here. I'm staying in today cause its cold again today. Babette have you climbed the tree again. Mouse I hope your being good your Mommy needs you. Tell her Mom & me sent her a care2 card. Think I'll take a catnap. Later everyone. I love you Mouse.
Mouse where are you? love from stripes.
Mouse here. I'm trying to type with Punkin trying to sit on the keyborad. Not easy. Well Mom is doing a little better. She will be with you soon on Chit Chat. Now she is going to be a worry wart about Tom and Kenny and nothing seems wrong with them to me. A little old maybe, but in good shape. Stripes I am a little chunky for sure. I tried to ignore that fact but I just saw myself in the mirror and I have grown and gained weight both. Mom wants to pick a date for my birthday. When do you think it should be. I know I am a good year old now. I don't remember a winter as mom calls the cold, snowy weather, but I guess I could have been born some time last winter. I know that some one fed and took care of me when I was a baby. She said I have been loved by some one and socialized. But not potty trained. Remember? Why did I leave? I'm not sorry, but it worries me. Did I just get lost? I don't want to get lost ever again. I love it here. Mom thinks I was close to a year old when I moved here so maybe September? What do you think Stripes? And what would be a good day? One that even I could remember. Stripes I have missed you. Mom had the computer all zipped up in its case and I couldn't get on.
Noss and Babette I've missed you cats also. Where is everycat else? Thanks for your kind words for Girl Dog. She was a quiet, good girl. But she loved to chase squirrels and deer. Last night mom told me she dreamed of Girl, she ran across the driveway and chased a squirrel up the hill. Mom says she called and called but she wouldn't come back. She would if she could.
You all take care and appreciate all your family and friends and even the dogs. I love Chewy and the other felines in my family.
Love you Stripes,
Hello Mouse, glad to see your back. Tell your mommy that with Girl Dog appearing to her in her dream, just meant that she was telling her mommy that she is happy now and not to worry about her. She is enjoying what she did best, chasing squirrels. My mom also had a dream of our dog, Ka'u who passed away ealier in May. She said it felt real, she came to her all happy, tail wagging and let mom give her a hug and then she was gone. It was a way of telling her not to worry, everything is fine and she is happy in where she is at. Yes, you take care as well. Let us always appreciate our friends, families, felines and dogs.
Hello to Babette and Stripes. Hope the other kitties will check in. As for me, still babysitting the dog ocassionally. Love it. All I have to do to scare her is to move my paw slightly. Oh it is so funny, I enjoy it. It is a way of playing for us. Meows to all. Noss
stripes here my birthday is oct 12 so how about the 12 of sept. mouse I'm glad to hear from you. I bet girl dog was just saying she was happy now and doing what she loves. I've been giving mom a hard time as I like to sit and stare at her. Noss I bet you have that dog scared of you keep up the good work. Mom's going to give me a snack then were going to bed. nite all. Love you Mouse my sweet.xxoo
Mouse here, aw I am so aggravated. My nice chatty thread got wiped out. I will try to remember all the things I was sharing. One thing, Stripes my Birthday is officially Sept.12 and your's is Oct. 12. That will make your Birthday easier to remember. You know how males can forget important dates like that. I am still so sorry I missed your Birthday Party last year. I could tell it was a real blast from all the pictures. I wish I had been there.
Noss I would like to see you move that little paw and see your dog guest get scared. Maybe you should try moving toward him a little to get him started running. You could chase him through the house! You two could get lots of fun exercise. I will share with mom your moms explantation about her dream. Mom kind of felt that way. I will take over Girl's squirrel chasing. I can do that for her. Girl said she had never caught one, but she kept them in their place! Mom says I better not catch one or be ready to get run through by a sewing maching! They are fast little bitters and have long front teeth! I will just give them a scare. I have enough trouble with Little Joe. He attacked me again and Chewy was on the spot again and put a stop to it. Thank you Chewy.
Stripes, bad news for me. Black and White discovered how to open the pet door.e (punkin is bakc! can you tell by my toying? I called mom, she came and got her. She loves the keyboard and rubs on my feet so I can't type and will not go away on her own. Any way, when mom got up, there was Black and White sitting on the top step coming up from the basement waiting for his breakfast. He didn't stink either for a change. So mom took him down and fed him in the garage and closed off the basement. This means I can easily get left in the garage if I don't come in at mom's bedtime. Oh well, what can you do? And speaking of stink, if mom mentions any where that I am rotten inside, don't believe her. It's her nose. I have learned to cover my 'little gifts' quite well. I've come a long way. I know in the beginning mom was almost ready to make an outside furkid of me. But I learned and I love being an inside kitty as much as I love you Stripes. No rain, snow or sleet for me! Now this snow I am waiting to see. I have heard some say that it is kind of fun to play in. We will see. When mom woke up yesterday she thought there was snow on the ground it was so white outside. Her window has a great view and even though it wasn't even dawn yet, the ground was reflecting light.
Well Noss, Stripes and everycat, keep warm. I am going to take my morning nap. I don't want to be late,
Love you, Stripes,
Stripes here. Gosh Mouse such a long post have you been in the catnip again. I see Little Joe is mr. Dec. but don't worry I love u. Wow your birthday is on the same day as mine only a month apart, hope you have a party cause I;ll be there. Here's some dancing mice for you to play with. No snow here either. Its fun to play in, mom made me paths last year, said she would make me a smowcat if we get snow. Be sure to come in when your Mom calls you, I don't want you scaring your mom like you did when you stayed out all nite. well its time for me to check out that dumb bird. then after my nap I'm going outside. Later love you Mouse, Stripes.
Savanna here...hello all cats. Stripes, they let you keep a bird in the house? You must have a really understanding 2 legger living with you. We spend hours staring out the windows at all the bird feeders mom has going on the property. I wish she would make sure my bowl stayed full all the time like she does for them. Oh I can't complain, she's pretty good. I think having a bird living in the house would make it alot more interesting around here. I wonder how I could drop the hint.
Things are good here. There is snow outside now so I am happy to stay inside, no more impromptu trips outside to chew on the grass--you can't see the grass anymore. Bandit is getting bigger and more annoying every day. I have some great ambush spots around the house where I know I will catch her if I wait long enough. Problem is Roxy..I won't see her for hours and as soon as I get all set up to jump Bandit, there is Roxy standing in the way growling. That Bandit is such a brown noser....I don't know how she did it but she managed to make Roxy feel sorry for her. So what's the story with Black and White, Mouse? Wasn't he allowed to use the pet door? I tell you...you just turn your back for a second and someone is hauling another animal into the house and forcing you to be nice to it. You can't be too careful Mouse....keep an eye on the situation or else he will be sleeping in your bed soon. And you don't look chunky to me in your picture Mouse. You want to see chunk, you should check out Roxy. Mom is always threatening to put her on a diet.
Talk to you all later. Meow for now!!
glad to see you here Savanna, Its my mom's bird its a cockatiel and she keeps it in a cage he goes by the name of Sam. I like to lay on top of the cage. sometimes I stand in front of it and look in. Mom lets him out when I'm outside as she doesn't trust me. He's 30 years old so he would be tough anyway. well I in from outside so its nap time. love you Mouse.
Hi Stripes and Savanna, Mouse here. It is so sunny today. Mom took Chewy for a walk and stopped at the feed mill to pick up more birdfood for all those busy little birds hanging around the feeders. I would like to have a bird or two here in the house too! Maybe some day. Some friends of mine has a large parrot named Charlie. They give her a wide berth. She's got a mean beak! Charlie kind of rules the roost there. If they would gang up on her maybe they could get her, but they are all afraid of her.
Savanna Black and White isn't allowed in the house. He is a stray tom cat that has lived here for 4 years now. He is wild and mom can't trap or get him to the vets for neutering. So he is allowed into the garage on cold nights and when the weather gets really bad in the day time, he will be allowed in then too. Right now he is basking in the sun on the deck. He did spray in the house a couple of times and it drove mom nuts getting the smell out. Thankfully one spray was on just the comforter and she was able to wash it out. The other was on her leather recliner and it ran down to the carpet. She worked and worked for days to eliminate that smell. He doesn't spray in the basement or garage. But some times he smells also. She just brought home a bag of fresh straw to put in two of the kitty houses. They are warm also. If Black and White should get left out he can always take advantage of one of them, and he has before. There are 4 great, warm houses and 2 that is good to keep dry and out of the wind, but not too good for the cold.
Stripes I am almost always playing with something that has catnip! From mom's old catnip filled sock to my round toy. She keeps both fresh and dried catnip on it. Good place for a nap. The catnip is still green where it is protected. Sometimes I am just wordy like mom. She told me she just planted some in a small pot for indoor use. I hope it grows. And thank you so much for the dancing mice! They are so cute. Not as cute as you, but cute! Love ya!
Stripes here. I getting ready for bed. I love you Mouse.
Hello all you cats. Stripes~ I tell you what, I just about scared the crap out of the dog tonight. I was with mom in the room on her bed. Enjoying my private time with mom and then here comes the dog busting through the door. I got quite upset and started defending my space on the bed. Dad came in and sat at the foot of the bed on the floor. Then Sachi went to him, I jumped down and about pounced on that dog's butt. I really did scare her as she practically jumped right onto dad's lap and tried to get as much space between us as she could. Mom had to shoo me out the door. I guess that was a bit too much, maybe over kill. LOL. But it was fun.
Mouse~ Hope Black and White stays away from you. That must be scary, glad Chewy was there to the rescue. Right now there is a stray male cat coming around and spraying around my dad's workshop and he is not happy about it. We think the cat actually is hanging around the neighbor's place. But the smell is terrible and dad is trying his best to cover the smell with some spray cans that smells better than what it smells now. So I can understand how your mommy feels. At least Black and White has the garage to keep warm in.
Hello Savanna~ Yeah, I like to view the birds outside as well. Especially when they get close to the window. So how big is Roxy? I'm about 13 lbs and look pretty big. But it is only because my stomach hangs down. Ever since getting fixed as mom says, my stomach has been that way. But I have seen other cats with tummys hanging so I don't feel all that bad.
Okay, good night to all and hope you keep warm. Noss
Mouse here, I only have a minute or two. Stripes consider your self kissed good night AND good morning also.
Noss the Black and White had access to the garage last night, but stayed in one of the houses with fresh new straw. I think he is just about trained to stay out of the house proper. Two nights in a row he could have come into the house and didn't. He did sleep in the garage the night before. I wish you and the dog could become friends like Chewy and me. But I am glad you are having fun scaring the heck out of him! Oh, Rosie has a hanging stomach too. She is still beautiful. Punkin has so much long hair who can tell about her belly?
Stripes, mom has to leave in a few minutes and will be putting the computer away. I'll talk to you later, love
Stripes here mom got me a new toy today it crinkles when you squess it and its shaped like a caterpillar and almost is long as me.. I also got some catnip and fussy little po pom's i played real hard than took a long nap. Mouse I heard you got bit my little Joe and have a thing on your neck. I wish I was there to make you feel better, we would gang up on him. Noss I would have loved to see that dog jump. the out door cats got catnip too they were rolling around on the sidewalk they sure were funny to watch. Gotta go and play with my new toy before bedtime. Purrs & meows to all. I lve you Mouse, Stripes
hi stripes, noss, mouse, and all the rest of you wonderful kitties! i just am really feeling the christmas spirit tonight! helped mamma wrap a bunch more presents, and we are still not done! hey stripes that sounds like a really cool toy your mom got you, i know mamma has got us kids all a bunch of toys too, and i cannot wait till christmas eve, that is when we open our presents. i have quit trying to climb the tree anymore, and mamma is very happy about that. we are now watching START TREK, FIRST CONTACT,mamma loves star trek, and it is cool data has a cat named spot. well am going to go and take a nap. you guys all have a wonderful evening, loves and purrs. babette
Mouse's mom here, I took him to the vet at 10 this morning and he was put under and his neck shaved and the abcess was lanced and cleaned out. I brought him home and I have been holding him just about ever since. He is still pretty much out of it. He should be okay by tomorrow. I know he would wish you all a good weekend. He is going to be getting medicine for a couple of weeks.
Stripes here, Give my sweetie a hug and kitty kiss for me. I love you mouse.
To Mouse's mom, hope he will feel better. Sorry to hear that he had to go through that but better to not get it worse. Lots of love and kitty kisses to him
Babette~ my mom likes Star Trek too. From the old ones to the new ones.
Hello to Stripes. Gotta go, daddy wants the computer now. Noss
To my Mouse Love Stripes.
Mouse hope your feeling better. I love and Miss You. Good to see you here Noss are you being good? Stripes.
Mouse here, Hi lovely Stripes! I am doing better. Mom changed my medicine. Why would a vet give a cat liquid medicine orange flavored? Kitties don't like citrus. Mom used to use orange peels to keep a cat out of her closet that wanted to spray in there. Now I just get a pill. I didn't want that other medicine. Mom gives me a kiss everytime she gives me a pill to make it go down better. Boy we had a storm here a little while ago. Is Spring coming again? There was lightening and thunder and rain.
Noss I have slept just about all day. It has been a funny day. Little drizzles and then a big rain. Mom's rainwater buckets were all filled so she didn't put any out to catch more. I am sending prayers out that Little Joe doesn't grab me by the neck now. I don't have any hair there. Mom is watching out for me. He is giving me a wide berth right now for some reason.
Black and White is getting trained not to come into the house proper. Today mom took Chewy away two times and Black and white didn't come up at all. He stayed in the basement where he belonged. Boy is she glad.
All you cats take care, I'm gonna try and be careful. Love you Stripes, it's good to be back.
Mouse~ I am so glad you are feeling better. What was that vet thinking, orange flavored liquid medicine? We cats definitely don't like citrus smells much less taste them. The sun finally came out today, hoping for tomorrow too. I miss my sun spots to go to around the house. They make great places to just warm up and take long naps. We haven't had that kind of storm in quite awhile with lightning and thunder. I don't think the dog would like it, she has never been through one yet. I will go seek comfort with somebody in bed and snuggle up to them. Hope Little Joe doesn't grab you ever again. And yes, be careful.
Hello to Stripes~ Well, it all depends on what you mean by being good here. I'm still trying to get mom's flower arrangements. Caught several times. I still love to play with the dog a sort of hide and seek game. I will hide and wait for the dog to come passing by and I will jump out to scare her. Or my favorite hiding place is around the corner to pop out at her. So just the usual, I guess I'm good. Meows to all you kitties. Noss
Mouse here. Noss what a gorgeous picture. Is that you? I am definitely going to ask Little Joe to post soon.
Stripes I am doing much better. Mom took a warm wet cloth and held it on my wound and it felt so good. It is draining good. Mom put a big towel on my bed to keep it clean.
The weather is so dreary and wet right now. The creek is up and looks like a river. Some where I learned recently that rivers and creeks were defined by the distance they traveled not by how wide and deep they are. I always thought that was the case. I know when mom saw the Swanee (sp?) river she was shocked at how little it was, it looked like her creek. Now she understands why it is called a river. You know what? Maybe we should share anything and everything we learn with each other and soon we will be as knowledgeable as our moms and dads for those who are lucky enough to have a dad. Hey do you think I could call Chewy my dad? He is old enough and seems to know a lot,.
Stripes, Noss you cats and all others take care,
Love you Stripes,
Mouse, Mom says I was a bad cat yesterday, as I knocked things over racing through the house, She said I was full of Beans, I was only catnip overload. I think Chewy would be a great Dad he already looks out for you.Glad your doing better, I'd kiss your neck and make it feel better! I love u. Noss , Santa Paws won't come if your not a little Angel at least thats what Mom says. I opened my gifts early she's not a good gift wrapper! Ha! Ha!. Glad that your keeping that dog in line. Hello to all the kitties out there! I'm going outside now. Love you Mouse. >^..^<
Hello Mouse~Mom wanted to put that black kitty pic up as it looks exactly like me, all black with yellow eyes. The picture was really pretty. Hey, now I know more abour rivers and creeks. So with lakes they are different because they are wider and big? What a great idea to share things as well. Can't think of anything right now but happy to answer any questions about here. Glad your neck is doing better. So Chewy going to be your hanai dad? Hanai is Hawaiian for adopted, foster child or foster parent. Chewy daddy sounds good. LOL.
Stripes~ I know what you mean about racing around the house, that's how I got my name. Full of NOS. He, he. But you probably had too much catnip didn't ya. Oooh, I better start being a good kitty so I can get some presents. That dog has more toys than me. I want some new toys too.
Well, the sun came out today and enjoyed snoozing in the sun spots. G-nite to all the kitties out there. Noss
Mouse here, Hi beautiful Stripes and beautiful Noss. Hey I don't know about lakes yet. The ones I know are small and are fed by springs and rainfall. If I get the chance I think I will look up just what makes a lake a lake. Interesting point Noss.
Stripes you are so cute and sweet that Santa won't forget you. I'm so glad you are enjoying the coming season and your catnip. Mom just planted some catnip in a painted coffee can. She saw this morning that something was coming up! And it has to be catnip, I can't wait! I will be running around here like a little demon and thinking angelic thoughts of you! Noss thanks for telling me about hanai dad, I will tell Chewy he is my official hanai dad now. Merry Christmas Stripes and Noss, I know Santa will be good to you,
I love you Stripes,
Here is part of the answer of a lake.....The difference between a pond and a lake grows primarily out of the source of creation. A lake is natural and a pond is man made. This still doesn't answer it's relationship to rivers and creeks. I will have to dig deeper.
Mouse here, Okay I dug deeper. The difference between rivers and creeks is water movement. The rivers and creeks have moving water. Lake water is more still. Here is the description in more detail.
I like this learning!!! Simple little things in my life suddenly become exciting!
Stripes here, you keep reading Mouse I love a smart cat. Guess what I did yesterday, Mom let me out and when she let me in she didn't notice I had a bird(starling she called it) I already killed it and it was mine, & I told her to back off. I ate it on the rug in the kitchen, she was upset with me, but hey I'm a cat thats what I do. I left her the beak, feet & feathers. She told me that her bird was off limits to me, he'd be tough anyway he's too old. I'm grounded today so after getting all my toys all over the house I'm taking a nap. later love you Mouse.
Mouse here! Oh Stripes honey, you are precious! Keep up the good work, there are a few too many starlings anyway and Mother Nature gave you the ability to catch one for a reason! Somecat has to keep the population in control. Mom doesn't know when I catch one. I make sure I keep it to myself. There are too many hungry, green eyed monsters here that want to take it away from me! Like Little Joe and Punkin! Rose and Tom and Kenny don't care one way or another. Right now I feel so much better that I am going outside and hide under the shrubs and watch for squirrels. I'm still trying to catch one and mom is still telling me I would be sorry. What's she think I am, a wuss? Just because Little Joe beats me up now and then? Some day the worm just might turn!!!
Take care Babe! Love you,
Hey mouse~ I looked up that information on the difference between a lake and river. Wow, it is much more understanding to me. Always was confused on that. Thank you for the info'. So I know that our little rivers or creeks also come from springs or run offs from the mountains. Ponds are mand made mostly and lakes are still and surrounded by land but big.
Stripes~ you got a bird! You must be a good hunter. I agree with Mouse. Mother nature made cats to have this ability to hunt and survive outdoors. Keep up your prowess. Mouse, I'm sure you'll be abel to get close to a squirrel at least. Not much else happening today. Just snoozing on the bed. Got to find something to share here. Take care all you kitties. Noss
Noss & Mouse, had a really boring day as Mom was upset with me for bringing the bird in the house to eat. I going to bed now. see you later. love tou Mouse.
Mouse here. Oh Noss mom worries about every little thing possible. We have this wonderful creek here alongside our home and she fears that some day some one will build a subdivision and wipe out her creek. She has seen it happen more than once in her life time. This one real neat creek she used to wash her car in is no longer in existence. And a few others met the same fate. Instead they put it underground in concrete and charge us money for getting rid of a wonderful thing. It's called runoff now and you pay to get rid of it. We have wonderful fossils here. One time further upstream a woman found a tribolite(spelling?). Mom said she tried to buy it from her, but no luck. She said she also used to pan for gold but no luck there either. A little gold was dropped off near here by the glaciers many years ago. I think she is wanting to try it again with the price of gold. And have you noticed all the drains filtering runoff into the drainage system have large openings? They are big enough for small mamals to fall into and be drowned! Any time she is walking alongside a road she checks these drains for an animal caught there. She is a bit of a worry wart, but I am glad. That's why I am safe and secure in my new home because of that. She was afraid I would get hurt or sick.
Time to say hello to my Stripes, the love of my life. Isn't she something else again? I love her feistiness and sweetness, keep warm and dry my little girl.
I love you Mouse. Stripes.
Hey guys, had a wonderful day today. The dog got to stay indoors all day with me. Due to the outside having soooo much rain and wind. Yep, was kind of storming out there today. So I had fun teasing that dog. When my dad threw the dog a piece of treat, I decided to go after it before the dog did and she put on the brakes and backed off. Yep, I ate it too and it really puzzled the dog and my mom them. I just wanted to tease the dog. Then I would hide in a box and see if I could jump out at her. It was great playing around for awhile. Then I got tired and needed a nap.
Mouse~ Your creek sounds really neat to explore. I would rather have it stay natural than have it taken away. I mean you may find fossils, gold and maybe other neat things there. What about stones? Do you have river rocks, you know the kind with different colors and all smooth? Wish we had those here, I think they are cool to play with. Mom got some for her little pond container to put around but it was from the store. It would be nice if Hawaii had some of those colorful river rocks to be found here. Glad your mom checks those drainage systems for any animals that may be trapped in there.
Stripes~ Are you grounded again? Maybe you should've eaten the bird outside if possible next time. I know my mom would be upset with me if I got a bird here. We have a lot of Hawaiian native birds that are song birds and it wouldn't be nice to get one of those. They are special and probably protected. Hey, how is the bird in the house there?
Okay, guys time for me to nap again. Yawn..... Noss
Mouse here, hi everycat especially my Stripes and Noss.
Yes Noss, we have some nice rocks. Mom goes hunting for rocks in the summer and early Spring. There are all types of rocks. Her favorite though are the fossils. She has a short wall about 4 feet long made of her fossil rocks. Some times I catch her just looking at it and dreaming of long ago. She takes lots of the rounded, smooth rocks and puts them in her flowerbeds. When she moved here 35 years ago there was a very large, beautiful rock in the creek right across from the house. Rhubarb used to jump over to it and watch the fishes and frogs and of course the birds coming in for a drink. It has glitter in much of it and all kinds of neat stuff. Any way a very large flood moved it downstream a little ways and even broke a small piece off of it. This happened about 10 years ago. She was so afraid it would get washed even further downstream and be broken into pieces eventually. A friend brought a bull dozer down and brought it up out of the creek and now she admires it and remembers Rhubarb and the baby ducks who used to sit on it and sunbathe. Mom loves history and learning. She thinks it was brought here by the glacier. I wish I had a friend who was a geologist who could tell her more.
Stripes we had rain yesterday and the wind started blowing and at least dried the water off before it snowed so we don't have ice. Chewy and I must be related. Neither one of us wanted to go outside this morning. We stuck our heads outside and then backed right back into the house. Stripes I think I am going to dream of a little Catnip too.
Stripes Here we had high winds and snow yesterday also. We didn't have power for over 4 hours so Mom & me took a long nap to keep warm. Mouse Mom has all kinds of rocks also from the creek by her Dads house, she told me once she'd like to have one from every state but knows she can't . she does have some from 7 states. she also has polished some smaller ones, there in a glass container as she likes to look at them.Mom also collects marbles since she was little there in containers all over the house, except the big ones she lets me roll around. I stuck my nose out today but didn't want to go out as theres white stuff all over. Think I'll take a nap. Later.
Mouse here. Oh Stripes, that reminds me. Mom said she used to collect all kinds of marbles. The ones that were clear she used to hold to the light (light bulbs used to just hang from the ceiling) and she would look through them imagining different worlds there. She had a large dresser drawer just about full of marbles and she knew so many of them. When she came home from her grandmothers one time they were all gone. Her mom had thrown them away. She was devastated. Evidently people moms don't understand a lot of things. Another time she came home she found her pet rooster on the dinner table. She never ate him and to this day she has a hard time eating chicken. She always rode the bus to her grandmothers house and she would carry her Rhubarb with her on the bus. I think she worried what would happen to her if she left her behind. The bus driver or passengers never minded her at all. It is strange how memories stay with you. Mom says these memories are as clear to her today as if they happened yesterday and she was a very young person then. I hope I haven't bored you Stripes with the above, but with winter here I am sure mom will be sharing even more with me. The 'making memories' must have made me think of these things she shared.
It's white and cold here too. Since you are further west you probably got it earlier than me. It is still windy here. There are lots of fallen limbs all over the place and a couple of things in the driveway that doesn't belong there. The squirrels and birds are famished today. Mom has put food out on the deck twice now for the birds and filled the feeders up once. She will have to do it again this afternoon. Well Stripes, my love, I think it is time for another nap.
Mouse Thank you for sharing that with me. I have a lot of memories also. My grandparents lived next door. I thought I had the greatest ones in the world. Love you Mouse Stripes.
Stripes here, They were delicious! Ha! Ha!
Hey kitties. It has been cold and a bit wet here. Just glad we don't have snow here but it still gets cold. So I snuggle up on a bed and keep warm. But if we ever did have snow around here, I'd be staying in bed. Oh but mom says we do get snow on our two mountains here. Just on the tops only.
Mouse~ I am so glad to hear that the boulder was at least moved out of the creek and saved. So you can go see it when ever you take your walks. I really do thinks stones are neat. What a wonderful story about your childhood memories. Stripes too. Hey, my mom has a collection of marbles too. It is a big container and sometimes mom lets me play with it. Yeah, Mouse those marble you hold up to the light to see the color is so cool. Mom has a really really dark purple one, looks black but when you hold it up to the light you can see the purple come through. Mom's glad she still has them and probably will pass it down to her granddaughter one day. Imagine that, we all have or had collected marbles. Mom says she remembers going into her grandma's sewing room and look at all the different buttons she had. Some were flower shapes, some out of coconut shell, different colors, just so many different buttons to look at. Since grandma passed on, she doesn't know what happened to them since her oldest brother and his wife moved into the house. Things either got thrown away or given to someone else other than family. So mom doesn't bother with them.
Stripes, I hope you are keeping warm there. What kind of rocks does your mom have so far? I don't think we have much in a way of different stones here. Mostly lava rock and some of those little green olivine in them. The thing is, people shouldn't take the lava rocks here as a souvenir as bad things happen to them I heard. It is because of the volcano goddess Pele, she doesn't want people taking her rocks. Have you ever heard of that? Okay kitties, I need to turn in. Hope you all keep warm, stay out of trouble and be safe with that winter snow out there. Meows, Noss
Mouse here. Well without the fierce wind we have had the last few days the 20s seems a lot warmer. There are still small drifts of snow. Black and White was gone in the worst of the weather, but this morning he was in his usual spot, well fed from the food mom left him last night and snoozing. He will mostly just eat and sleep for the next day or two. At least he stayed where he was allowed. Mom always worrys he will come into the upstairs and pee on something. Not pee as needing a litter box, but marking. He uses his litter box like a good boy. Just like me now.
I tried to paste something for mom, but it won't work for me either. It was a very close up of a hungry kitty. Only the nose and mouth and chin was showing. The caption was if you can see this, you are awake enough to get up and feed me. Or something like that.
Stripes I am very tired today. I was outside for a little while last night. Mom got up about 1 o'clock and made me come in. I am ready for a nap now.
Noss if I ever get to Hawaii and visit the Goddess Pele, I promise not to take her rocks. Mom's read many books in which she is a part. She respects her power.
Stripes, Love you,
Stripes here. Want to wish all my friends a Merry Catmas! Its only 7 out today so won't be outside. Hope everyone gets lots & lots of goody's. Mom said she played with her grandma's buttons also and has some. Noss she has a rock she said came from Arizonia called petrified wood ( how can wood be a rock!) some pretty stones like Amethyst, Turquoise, Quartz, some pretty pink ones, too many to list. She wouldn't take any lava rocks either. She has all kinds of neat stuff that she collects that I can't reach. She has some really cool things hanging in the window that makes rainbows when the sun shines on them. Getting sleepy so must be nap time. love you guys but loved Mouse the Most. Stripes >^..^<
Merry Christmas to all you kitties out there. Or as we say in Hawaiian~ Mele Kalikimaka! Popokis (cats)! Mouse I am sure glad you know what I mean about Pele and her lava rocks. Wouldn't want to send any bad luck to you. You and your family keep warm and safe now.
Stripes I sure would love to see all your mom's beautiful stones there. My mom is waiting for a book to come in that she ordered. It is called "The Crystal Bible" that will show all the different stones and what they are. Mom has a few of these crystal glass hanging in the window to catch the sunlight. When I am in there and the sun shines through it, you can see a rainbow of colors going everywhere. On the floor, walls, bed. I try to see if I can get it but doesn't want to come off.
Well kitties, keep warm and stay indoors if it is snow storming out there. Noss
