CHIT CHAT DECEMBER 6

Good Morning all. We are in December now. And it's time for a new thread. Here is the link to the previous....http://www.care2.com/c2c/groups/disc.html?gpp=47&pst=1702194 I had a kitty that used to erase messages on my machine, but as far as I know none has ever made a call. Mouse is going nuts this morning. I just took his mackerel cookies out of the oven and he wants one NOW. I can't get it across that he will burn his cute little mouth. I keep saying it won't take long! Take care everyone. I have to hang laundry right now. Back at you later, Sugar

Sugar, how do you make Mackerel cookies,  I'd like to try that. Tell Mouse stripes will talk to him on his thread.

Good morning, all! Hope this finds y;all doing well and with things going great. Things are good here. I was up extra early this morning thanks to Osiris. He started waking me up at 3:30 am then allowed me to go back to sleep til about 4:15 am wanting something from the kitchen {ham, turkey, milk, or cheese} but we're all out of everything he likes so I couldn't get him anything and I kept telling him so. He wasn't listening and he just kept with his paws batting me {yes he uses his claws too} trying to get me up. I finally got up and got some coffee at 4:45 am b'cuz I knew I wasn't going back to sleep. And Osiris finally made do with some  of his cat food. I certainly wasn't a happy camper though I don't think he was either! lol Kona is lying here on the computer desk as I type and Scamp is lying on his pallet nearby while Shasta is lying in the window. So, I'm surrounded by cats which is a good thing.

Teri, hope all goes well with your cancer doctor. And hop they can get the lymphodema under control. Glad to hear that Michelle is reading and laughing and that your day was okay. How funny that you had a cat who listed to your answering machine.

Sugar, thanks for starting a new thread. How funny that you had a cat who would erase messages. So, you made mackerel cookies for the cats? I can just picture MOuse wanting his cookie NOW! I'm with Sandi, how do you make them?

Sandi, good to see you here.

Taake care everyone and have a fantastic day.

Dang keyboard giving me double letters! That's "Take care...."

Mackerel cookies are really simple.
1 can mackerel (15 oz. can)
1 cup whole grain bread crumbs
1 tablespoon minced onion (optional)
1 tablespoon minced green peppers (optional)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 large egg beaten

Preheat over to 350 degrees

Mash the mackerel with a fork in medium sized bowl. Add the remaining ingredients and mix well. Using your hands roll the dough into walnut sized balls and press to flatten them slightly and bake on a greased cookie sheet for about 20 minutes, They should be firm and slighly browned. Flip the fish cakes over and put them back into the oven for about 5 minutes more to dry them out slightly. Cool completely then store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

And that's it,

Boy I made a meatloaf this afternoon and I ate too much! I'm miserable. You all have a good night,

Sugar

Thanks Sugar will try them.

December 6, 2012, is coming to a close....  This has been a WONDERFUL day for me!  I was at one of our local hospitals from 12:30 p.m. until about 5:30 p.m.  No, nothing wrong, and I was not a patient.  One of my granddaughters was the patient.  Having a baby!!  Tonight I am the proud great-grandma of a new baby girl born this afternoon!!  I'm not a first-time great-grandma.  This is my 4th great-granddaughter.  ALL are precious, of course.  This one is just beautiful -- just simply heaven-sent perfection!  I got to hold her for about 10 minutes this afternoon.  Oh yes, I'll be going back to the hospital tomorrow -- can hardly wait to get my hands on her again!!  : )

Betty, Congratulation to the great-grandmother. What's her name?

Wow Betty! Congratulations on your 4th great grandchild. When you can, post her picture. A brand new person! And a girl at that. Best wishes for both mother and child and of course
Great Grandma!

Things here were a little different. Girl Dog isn't feeling well at all. She isn't sick to her stomach or anything. Possibly a minor stroke. I may be losing her very soon. I will decide today. The prayers she needs are for a painfree passing over the Rainbow Bridge. I adopted her when she was a year to 2 years old, they didn't know for sure at the shelter. I have had her for 16 years last month. I don't want to lose her. I still have 3 senior kitties plus Girl and I could lose any of the 4 at any time. Then I will only have 2 at 7 years and of course Mouse who is probably a year and a few months.

Speaking of Mouse, he has really grown since being adopted. He has had good food and all his shots to keep him healthy. He isn't really fat yet, but he is a long legged chunky fellow and as sweet as he can be. He looks great.

Black and White has gone tomcatting. I knew he must have been getting ready because he was smelling stronger and becomiing grouchy with Little Joe and Mouse. Everybody really. As they passed he would slap them on the butt. So prayers for him would be nice. That he gets back safely. If I could trap him I would get him neutered, but no luck. I tried. He is just too smart. He is an independent cat.

I will talk to you all later and let you know how Girl is doing. I hope she will stay with me a little longer.

Congratulations Betty on the birth of your fourth great granddaughter. What a wonderful gift!

Good morning, all! Hope this finds y'all doing well and with things going great. Things here are good. Nothing much going on, just my usual. I did buy a hand-painted candle today from a friend's Etsy site. It has a butterfly on one side and a rose on the other done in purple. I'm looking forward to its arrival. My friend has some beautiful things including poinsettia candles for the holidays. If anyone wants to check it out her "store" is called Enchanted Rose Product.

Sugar, thanks for the recipe for mackerel cookies. Will have to give them a try. I'm so sorry that Girl Dog is sick. I will keep her and you in my prayers. I know it's hard to lose them but you've had a very long time with her and I'm sure you have plenty of happy memories. Mouse sounds like he is doing well. It's a testament to what a good mom you are. It's too bad you can't catch Black and White Tom and get him neutered. Will keep him in my prayers for a safe return to you.

Sandi, great to see you here. Love the tag you posted for Betty, it's so cute.

Teri, how very scary to have stopped breathing in your sleep! I'm so glad your cats woke you up and that you had your inhaler to help. You take care and know that you're in my thoughts and prayers.

Betty, congratulations on your fourth great granddaughter! Do post a picture if/when you can. Would love to see that beautiful baby.

Michela and Penny, great to see you here.

Angie, great to see you here too. Thank you for the sweet comment on my page, it is very much appreciated.

Take care everyone and have a fantastic day.

I am still going over and over of what to do with Girl. It seems like she is miserable, but is she? She has been pacing from room to room since 5:30 this morning. I did take her with me on a quick errand. She has finally laid down and has her eyes shut. I put one of her sweaters on her this morning. She has been shivering. Do I make an appointment for tomorrow morning or not? That is the question nagging me. I am miserable worrying about it.

Everyone have a good weekend. I don't know if I will be back on for a couple of days.

Sugar ~

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your sweet Girl.  I understand so well the heartbreaking decision that you could be facing.  This day holds sad memories for me.  It was on December 7, 2004, when I took my Teddy to the vet for the last time.  I held him as he went peacefully to the Rainbow Bridge.  His pain ended that afternoon.  Mine didn't.  I knew in my heart I'd made the right decision for him.  It didn't prevent or stop my heartache, though.  I cried for days.  Christmas 2004 was a sad one for me.  I tucked my favorite picture of Teddy on one of the top branches of the Christmas tree.  I'm sorry, Sugar.  I didn't mean to ramble on about my Teddy.  I do understand what you're going through right now.  Know that I'm thinking of you and praying for you and Girl....

Hugs,

Betty

Sugar, My prayers are with you & Girl Dog. I know what your going through as its a hard decision to make, but you will make the right one. Give Mouse and all the fur kids hugs from Stripes & Me!

Betty I seem to remember when Teddy went over the Rainbow Bridge. It still hurts doesn't it? I know all my furkids have left a hole in my heart but the joy they brought was and is worth the hurt. I have been watching and watching Girl. I still haven't decided. One moment yes, the next no. Right now she is standing, kind of wobbly, looking in a corner. She seems to be stuck and doesn't know how to turn around. I just helped her and now she is starting stuck again next to a plant. I am going to have to make the appointment. She can't go on like this. Her tail is tucked between her legs and she wobbles and just looks terribly sad. At four o'clock I am going to make a decision.

Betty , Congratulations on your new great grand baby...

Sugar, I am so sorry. It is never easy is it...   Even to make the call is so difficult to do.

Praying for you my friendSugar, I am feeling so sad for you.  I know how heart wrenching it can be; it's been almost 6 years since my dogs crossed the rainbow bridge and I still hurt when I think about them.  All of my pets from years gone by have left an imprint on my heart and yes you're right, the joy they offer makes it so worth the eventual pain of loss.  I've taken several of my dear friend's furbabies to the vet's office for their final ride because my friends couldn't bring themselves to do it.  Hang in there Sugar.  You are in my thoughts!

Sugar, oh, I feel for you. I guess by now you've made the decision about whether or not to take her to the vet. I know you'll make the right decision and do what's best for Girl. Y'all are in my thoughts and prayers.

Oh, Sugar it is so hard to make THE decision. Like everyone in this group I've been faced with it. How I wish our fur folk could tell us what they are feeling.

Good morning everyone!  It's been raining here all morning and it is sooo depressing.  I need to find something fun to do so I guess I'm going to start getting ready for Christmas.  I've hauled out my baking pans and the cookie cutters and I am going to spend the afternoon creating some joy.  I cleaned out my freezer last week so there is lots of room.  I want to try to make an assortment of cookies for gift baskets.  Also, I need to get some done for my daughter who lives in Montreal as her in-laws, my neighbours, are going to be making the drive out there for the holidays and I want to have a basket for them to take out there.  I'm hoping the snow holds back for a little longer so I can spend a day shopping with my twins next week.  They both sound like they need a boost to their spirit.  All of my cats are full of beans today, I don't know why.    They've been chasing each other around and jumping out of hiding places in front of me all morning.  You'd think with all this rain they would be sacked out somewhere.  I was thinking I might make some cookies for them too, thanks to Sugar's recipe for Mackeral cookies.  That should make them happy.

I will check back in later!  Enjoy your day everyone

Good afternoon, all! Hope this finds y'all doing well and with things going great. Things are good here. I was busy this morning with stuff for my Maine Coon rescue group.  Other than that I've been doing my usual. Ray cleaned out my Bearded Dragon's {BabyFace} habitat {I still can't balance on the stool so I can't do the cleaning} this morning and gave him crickets as a treat! Ray also cleaned the aquarium out and added 2 red claw crabs to our aquarium community.

Sugar, how are things going with Girl? Did you take her to the vet? She's a beautiful dog. Thanks to Sandi for posting the picture.

Angie, so you're going to do some Christmas baking? Sounds good. I'm sure everyone will appreciate homemade cookies. And I'm sure the cats will really appreciate the mackerel cookies! That's so sweet that you want to make a basket for your daughter and son-in-law. And how great that her in-laws live next door to you and are going to Montreal. Isn't it funny how cats pick the oddest times to suddenly start running and jumping around everywhere! My cats did that last night.

Everyone else, good to see you here.

Take care everyone and  have a fantastic day.

Mystery

Am missing my Tortie girl, she got sick a few days ago and when taken to the vets the x-ray revealed a small heart, tiny liver and her kidneys were poor with a tumour, her lungs had fluid and nodules.  At age sixteen she lived a relatively long life and although she was blind in her last years she was adorable.  Sadly, her body had cancer and her journey was ended with an assist to cross over to The Rainbow Bridge in order to feel no more pain as she was in some discomfort.

My Dad passed away unexpectedly in September, he was very old but wasn't expecting it anymore than I was expecting Mystery to succumb from internal problems that flared up. No Christmas with either Dad or Mystery.

A neigbhour was kind enough to lend me Missy, one of her two cats who visited me over the past year, she kept me company over night.  Both cats are regular visiters in my apartment.

Hug your fur friend tonight, they are all precious!

Don't know how to post photos, just a link to flickr where I posted a tribute Mystery.

I'm so sorry to hear your news about Mystery.  I read your tribute and looked at pictures of beautiful Mystery with tears in my eyes.  I know your heart is heavy right now Dale but Mystery has left so many memories in the wake of her life; memories that will help soothe and comfort your grieving soul.  Mystery has no more pain and can again see all the beauty around her while she plays like a kitten in the meadows across the rainbow bridge.

It has been a hard autumn for you with the passing of your dear father and now your beloved pet.  You are in my thoughts and prayers my friend!  Take care.

Good morning, all! Hope this finds y'all doing well and with things going great. Things are good here. Spent my morning with some computer problems that Ray was able to take care of. Also did some work with the Maine Coon rescue group I volunteer for {with?}. Forgot to water yesterday but we are waiting for rain today so if we get it I'll just water the plants under the porch.

Teri, glad you had a good day and that Michelle understands about not having Christmas presents at Christmas. Sorry your cats are coughing, hope they all get better. Big Mack is a pretty cat.

Dale, I'm so sorry. You have had a tough fall/winter season losing your dad and now Mystery. I'm sorry that Mystery got so ill so suddenly. At 16, she had a long life and you would have lots of happy memories. It was sweet of your neighbor to loan you a kitty for the night.

Sandi, Betty, Michela, and Angie, good to see y'all here. Betty, thanks for posting the picture of Dale's Mystery.

Take care everyone and have a fantastic day.

Darn it Dale, I am so sorry for you losing both Mystery and your Dad. It hurts so much right now I know. I lost my husband in September 2 years ago and I lost Pudge a few months ago and yesterday I had to help Girl Dog over the Rainbow Bridge. We just have to tell ourselves we were blessed to have them as long as we did. Ray had been very sick for some time but it was still a shock when he left. I hate saying that word Died. I am very sad and weepy right now, but I know the good memories will eventually rise to the top. Right now I can see Girl walking along the edge of a pond one summer day. She never wanted to swim but she walked alongside water looking for jumping frogs and snakes. I had her for 16 years last November. I got her from a kill shelter when she was 1 1/2 to 2 years old according to the shelter's best guess.

Have a good week everyone. And bless you Dale. Let's try to remember the good things about our departed loved ones and not grieve so much. I know they wouldn't want us to hurt.

Good afternoon, all! Hope this finds y'all doing well and with things going great. Things are good here. I'm currently working 2 applications for kittens and have one of my Adoption Counselors working 2 as well with the Maine Coon rescue group I volunteer for. We've had more applications than kittens! Our weather is going to get cold {down below freezing} so I've wrapped the majority of my plants and moved the others {my ivies and mini roses} inside my outside closet/storage room. Not much else going on here, just reading and now computer stuff. I like the new look for our group.

Teri, sounds like you have your week cut out for you. Hope the visit at the cancer doctor goes well. Your cats sound funny. My Osiris lets me know right away when his food bowl is low on food. I keep food out all day but if the bowl gets even slightly empty he lets me know about it. lol

Sugar, I'm so sorry about Girl. She's over Rainbow Bridge with Pudge and your other furkids now and is in good health again. I know you'll remember all the happy memories of her. She sounds like she really liked walking beside the pond.

Shell, sorry for your recent loss. I'm glad you're getting Smokey neutered and his shots. It's great that they have a transport to get that done for you.

Donna, Sandi, Michela, Karen, Helen, Maura, and Penny; so good to see all of y'all here.

Take care and have a fantastic day.

Hello everyone, sorry I have not been around.I have been helping Teri witha lot.since her pain and
being she not able any more of do ing a lot of stuff,I have been busy doing it for her.I so sorryto hear of the loss everyone here has had.I know my buddie Tyerlee past over this past April as well as his bother Raymond whom past over on March 11,2012..now on a lter note.I find this in the email file and thought I post it.I's a letter that Michelle decide to sentto Santa for help for us.

Dear Santa, I am wrtting this for my Grandma and Grandpa.Whom have care for me since I was 2years old,and give up a lot just to do so.This year because a auto weck Grandma and Grandpa were in.WE are so financial hurting t hat they are not able to buy each other any thing for Christmas or even have a nice family Chritmas dinner.Grandma amd GRandpa both have been very drepress over it the past few months.Grandma's health is not that good any more and eithre is Grandpa, but Grandma is in very bad sharp.I went to to do something nice for them but because the financial being so tight I have had to give up my allowance the past nine months so I have no way of doing any for them to make them happy once again.I know that Grandpa and Grandma both have said all their went for Christmas is their settlement from the auto weck,Santa,is there a way you could help push it a long for them please.Love ,Michelle

Darla I had a Main coon for 10 years-he was the love of my life. They are the most loving docile awesome animals. He died from kidney failure years ago. We did the iv fluids for over a year-I wanted to give him one of my kidneys!!!!! I can see why so many people want to adopt them. I have to see if my son can post a pix for me-I am electronically challenged-we decorated the outside kitty house with christmas lights for them. I hope they find it attractive and inviting. I think my husbands right-I have potential to turn into -that crazy cat lady.

Good morning, all! Hope this finds y'all doing well and with things going great. Things are good here. One of my applications yesterday that I was able to get written up for a vote will be approved. Voting officially ends at 2:00 this afternoon but he's already got enough yes votes! The other application I'm waiting on some further info that I need. My cat, Kona, keeps dumping over my trashcan to get to the paper inside of it ~ he loves to tear up paper as I've mentioned before. Not much else going on here, just my usual reading and computer stuff.

Harry, good to see you here. It's so great that you do so much to help Teri. Ray does everything around our home b'cuz I cannot do it. Well, I do clean our bathroom but that is about all I can do and I'm usually hurting by the time I am done. Sometimes, I also dust but typically Ray includes that in his chores. Michelle's letter to Santa is so sweet. I love how she asks for you and Teri but asks nothing for herself. Such a sweet girl.

Sandi, good to see you here.

Helen, Maine Coons are great cats! I've been volunteering with the  group {MCRA} for a little over 2 years. I'm so sorry that you lost your Maine Coon even though it was years ago. I can understand your wanting to give him one of your kidneys. I'd want to do the same for my cats. I'd love to see a picture of your Maine Coon. I know I have the potential to be a crazy cat lady! lol In fact, I have a coffee cup that reads "Crazy Cat Lady" on one side while the other reads "and Proud of It!". I also have a cap that reads "Crazy Cat Lady". I got both of them on the Animal Rescue Site. I have 5 cats in a small 2 bedroom apartment.

Take care everyone and have a fantastic day.

I picked up smokey from the transport van at 12, he was so happy to see me, he was talking the entire time. How many shots do you all think he should have, he had 1 distemper vac. today and rabies. He got his fiv/felv test while he was knocked out too, which thankfully was negative. I was very happy to see him again, i worried about him the whole time he was gone. They took him to the nxt state over to do it, gone over night and back this afternoon. There was 30 cats on that van.

Darla: thank u, i miss that old dog very much, i had him since he was 6 wks old, and he passed in his sleep at 14 yrs old in oct. I choke back tears every time i think about him.

We were decorating for Christmas a little bit today and i still hang my other animals that have passed on, they have their own spot together on the wall.

er time I tryto do something to help make things get better and it just back fire's in to my face and it let me hanging deeper than I was to start with.I know that I should let in all in God's almight hands but its just, but I tend to forget.

Yes Teri I do sometimes I just go back to bed hoping that it will get better. Glad to see Darla here. Shell I bet Smokey was real glad to see you. Take care everyone its bed time for me!

Teri,
Give it to God, because if you bang your head against the wall, insisting on doing things yourself, God will get the idea that you don't need HIM. God helps those that cannot help themselves. The ones who think they can help themselves do not need God.

Shell, when that transport van opened the door, did all the cats jump out at your place???? Maybe rumor didn't have it that the food was good, or that the husband has possibilities.

Shell, will Smokey be going outside? If not I think those are the only shots he will need. I think that's all my kitties get because they are all indoor. I am gald that he came back and was so happy to see you and the the tests were negative.

 Good Morning everyone.

Good morning, all! Hope this finds y'all doing well and with things going great. Things are good here. Today is watering day for my plants but they're all wrapped or in storage so I'm not sure if I should water them. I'd hate for them to freeze b'cuz they had water on their roots. Well, I just checked weather on-line and we're supposed to have another day of freezing temps then tomorrow the low will be in the 50's while the high will be in the upper 60's while Friday the low will be in the low 60's and the high in the low 70's so I think I'll water tomorrow.

Teri, all teens have their moments of not being sweet. Is the change a good one? If so, I'm glad she has changed from how she was last year. Yes, I know what you mean about being totally lost without Harry b'cuz I feel the same way about  Ray. I'm sorry you are having a bad day.

Shell, glad you got  Smokey back and that his tests came back negative. I'm sure he's glad to be home. If he's going to be an inside only cat then he's got enough shots. You're welcome. I'm sure it's still hard to think about your loss of that dog. You had him for a very long time and I'm sure you have many happy memories of him.

Sandi, Donna, and Michela, glad to see y'all here.

Take care everyone and have a fantastic day.

I had to meet the transport van at a store about 15 minutes away from me, u know like a central location meeting place that every1 could find. all of the kittys were were mouthing off when they got back.

Yes smokey is going to be indoor now, no more outside. He's quite enjoying being warm and cozy with plenty to eat. Perhaps he thinks he's died and gone to heaven. The only problem i've had with him so far is he uses the box fine out in the sunroom. But in my sons room he started scratching at the carpet as like a litter box, hmm son has the box covered with clothes. So i quickly scooped him up and took him to the sunroom where he used his box. I dont think he's sure of the covered boxes my other cats use. I went out to shed & got the bottom part of 1 of the covered boxes, going to clean it up and put it out for him to use without the top on it.

Donna no thank goodness all of the kittys didnt jump out at me, id be in some serious trouble if they did.

Good morning all!!  I love the new look....I thought I was in the wrong room at first I'm just sitting here watching it snow and debating whether I really want to drive to town. My back has been killing me this week so I haven't spent alot of time sitting at the computer.  I had quite a bit of reading to do this morning.

Teri~~I think we all have those kinds of days.  Hang in there, things can only get better!!  I have to agree with Darla...all teens have their moments.  I told my husband that all we can do is try your best to be there for them when they need you, prepare to be ignored alot and sit back and pray that they come out the other side one day.  My youngest 2 will turn 19 in a few weeks and I've lived through alot of teen angst over the years.  I hope everything goes well for you at the cancer doctors this week.  Great to see you also Harry!!

Shell~~I'm so sorry for your loss.  I know how long the pain lingers; thank goodness for all the happy memories that help to dull the pain.  What a neat idea...a transport van to the vet's office.  I live in a rural area and have to drive a good half an hour to get to the vet's.  Smokey sounds like he's fitting right in!!

Darla~~below freezing....wow!!  The garden guy in my area says that when temperatures get cold and there is risk of frost, we should water the garden well.  The idea is that the energy made by the plant in it's efforts to dry it's leaves will keep it warm and help keep it safe.  I've tried this over the years with mixed results but remember, I live in a place where the temperatures can dip below freezing in September.  I usually water them well and tent the things I feel need help staying safe.  In your case, you have the option of bringing them inside.

Anyway, hi to Sandi, Michela, Donna and Helen, Penny, Maura, Karen, Betty, Sugar and Dale....and anyone else I might have missed. I have to get out of this computer chair; it is agonizing on my back    I will try to check back later.  Have a great day everyone and hugz to all the furbabies!!

My cats never cared for the hooded boxes. Not sure how this group would be, but the old group from long ago didn't like them. I had to removed the top, and then they would get in. I think it might be that some cats do not want to be stuck in one with no other way out if someone is after them.

Cats like to do their claws on rugs since they pull so nicely. Kind of like certain chairs and couches that are weaved somehow. My cats won't leave the front door alone, and they have bowed it so that all the nice frigid air will come through.

Oh a happy note, Jimmy got his disability.. He really is disabled too, but he tried hard to work. He can hardly stand sometimes.

I'm so happy that Jimmy's disability came through. What a Christmas Gift!! If you have to be disabled you should at least be able to collect a disability payment.

Thanks Karen,
He collected 2 back payments. They said the other 5 months was just a waiting period. It was a little let down as we depended on it to give to the bank, but we can make other arrangements, hopefully. It will be up to them. They said we have to be caught up in order to lower our interest rate, so well, we couldn't do anything before, so this is very hopeful.

oh what a great christmas gift that Jimmy finally got his disability. Hopefully things will start working out now.

Hooded boxes, most of my critters dont seem to mind them, i have 1 that is VERY finicky about how clean its kept which is stinky baby. The other (Salem) dangles on the edge of the box like hover round.

I would agree he was wanting to claw the carpet but this wasnt clawing type behavior, something just told me he was looking for a place to GO. maybe go get a couple open boxes so he has place he can go. Thanks for the advice on the shots every1.

So glad to hear Jimmy got his disability at last Donna.Great Xmas gift.

My cat Yoko always used the family room door as her scratching post, wouldnt use the scratch post.Cats have their own ideas,Floyd used to use our love seat but it was at the back of it so not so noticable.CB is the only one to use the post bless her little heart.I dread leaving her when I go to Michigan to spend xmas with my grandkids, shes 19 & nearly blind.Shes going to my sons house while we are away but she sure is always glad to get back to her own house when we come home even though they treat her kindly,my son grew up with her & loves her lots.I will be away from Dec 15 untill middle of January unless I get sick on the plane back(Which is what happened last time. With having multiple myeloma I have no immune system & catch other peoples germs all the time!!)

Sandrea I love what you did with the site, its so bright & cheerful thank you

Thanks for the mackrel cookie recipe Sugar Ill have to make some for CB when I get back.

Ha ha Darla my CB is the same as Osiris once she decides she wants feeding she walks all over us & meows & pushes stuff on the floor untill one of us gets up & feeds herWhere did you get the name Osiris Darla? It sounds so elegant & kingly!

Sorry to hear about your back, Angie my back was destoyed by the cancer so I think I may have some idea of what your going thru but thank goodness for painkillers which see me through the day.I do hope your back pain gets better soon.

Smokey should soon get used to the box if you keep on training him like your doing Shell. My cats were/are indoors .I got them from the shelter & had a hard time training Floyd as he had been a stray.Eventually he got used to it but was never very happy about itGood luck with the training Shell

Hi Terri & Harry good to hear from you & hoping everything goes well for you all this holiday season.

i would love to show all of you my handsome smokey, i think i uploaded a pic into my pics albums on here but i cannot load them to here, I used to be able to do it but then windows upgraded somehting and i cant do it anymore. I also have pictures of Ozzy my aids kitty and pooka my black beauty. I love them all but pooka is my favorite, and i think he knows it too.

Smokey will use the box i had in the sunroom for him until he got his test, but i caught him just in time before he used my sons floor. and i havent seen him use any of them in the house yet. I put out an open top 1 just for him, will get 1 or 2 more when payday comes again. Ozzy doesnt like topped boxes either, i had to get a special 1 for him too.

I think Puddy is going to pass over the rainbow bridge soon. His coat looks unkept and hes not eating as much as he was. hes 14 now i cant explain it i just feel something is up....im not going to stress him out by taking him to the vet for all kinds of tests and being poked with needles, i feel like i will have to make another decision i dont really want to make....

Congratulations Shell on Smokey. You might remember I had a small problem with Mouse when I first brought him into the house. But now he is thoroughly trained. He knows those boxes are to be used for potty. My kitties don't like hooded boxes either. When you think about it, they are so enclosed that when they poop it must be horrible inside. Any way if they are rotten inside like Mouse (Mouse don't read this!) Shell I know about the unkempt fur. Tom at 21 years and 9 months looks like a hurricane went through his fur. He never allowed me to groom him except from the top of his head down his back and to the base of his tail. And that's still all. When he sleeps I try to cut knots out but he is a light sleeper.

Donna you know how thrilled I am for you. You still remain in my prayers as does Jimmy and your furkids.

Teri, congrats on your good news from the cancer doctor.

Thanks everyong for your kind words for Girl Dog. She will soon be gone a week. It still doesn't seem real.

ok great new on Smokey, he was caught using the  other open litter box (i just took the top off). OH MY GOODNESS he should be called stinky.....sheeew he was rotten. The 1 i put out for Smokey to use, pooka was playing in and rolling around in it. Like it was a new toy (oh look mama gave me new litter toy) throwing litter everywhere.

Sugar:that is exactly what his fur looks like, he doesnt like me to groom him at all. and he doesnt seem to have much energy to do it himself most times. He seems to do fairly well when i can keep him eating the canned food, but when he eats the dry he gets sluggish and sleepy. I was thinking maybe diabetic. Hes very stubborn in his old age. the canned food is his but he claims the dry food bowl too...old stinker but love him anyway

Good Morning PictureShell you have some good looking cats there!

Good morning!!  What a beautiful day outside..the sun is shining and the temperature is floating around freezing.  I thought I'd go for a walk through the woods and see what's going on but I have to wait for my hair to dry so I wanted to pop in and say hi.  I don't see any clouds over the treeline so I'm sure I have a few minutes.   My great hunter cat Roxy just brought me a present.....a chili pepper.    It must be leftover from the summer harvest but it doesn't speak well for my housekeeping skills....I finished canning stuff in September.  I wonder where she dug it out of?  I'm glad she didn't eat it.....she was holding it in her mouth so gently

Teri~~I'm so glad your visit with the cancer doc went so well.  It's great to hear that shopping with Michelle was such a good experience.  She sounds like an excellent helper.  I made a rule many years ago that none of my kids would accompany me into a store until they were adults.  Long story....bad times; the rule has served me well.

Shell~~what a great looking bunch of furkids you have!!  Thanks for all the pictures.  I remember when I started to be able to post pictures again...I was the same way, like a kid in a candy store.  None of my cats like using covered litter boxes.

Donna~~great news about Jimmy's disability!!  It sounds like it's been a long time coming.  I hope it makes for a merrier Christmas.  5 months seems like a long waiting period though I'm not familiar with how disability works in the U.S.

Penny~~sorry about your back.  Yes, thank goodness for pain killers, they just don't seem to be working for me right now.  I hope you enjoy your annual trip down to see your grandkids.

Sugar~~good to see you.  Sorry things are still feeling surreal but I'm sure things will get back to the way they are pretty soon.  I'm guessing all your furkids are feeling much the same way.

Sandi~~what are you doing posting a morning picture of me online??  I'm so embarrassed!

Have a great day everyone!!  I'm off to hike in the woods and hopefully take pictures.

Good morning, all! Hope this finds y'all doing well and with things going great. Things are good here. I uncovered and watered all my plants today. Other than that I've just been reading and doing computer stuff. Wow, we've really been busy here ~ that's great!

Shell, yes, it sounds like Smokey's not too sure of the covered box. It's good that you are getting more uncovered boxes for him.  My cats use deep uncovered litterboxes. I used to have one of those igloo type {forget what they're called} covered litterbox but our biggest cat {that's Kona, a DSH tuxedo cat at about 18-20 pounds!} always managed to get his poop on the ramp so we got rid of it. The cats seem to like these deep boxes just fine. I'm sorry about your Puddy. I truly believe we have a connection with our furkids. You should watch him carefully. You have some beautiful cats. My cats pictures are all in my photo album. I cannot post pictures here anymore. I do have some posted here in threads but some of the threads were put into the archives for some reason. It's great that Smokey's going to be an indoor only cat. I'm sure he thinks he's in heaven! All my cats are indoor only.

Angie, I'm sorry your back has been killing you. My back was hurting yesterday despite the pain meds and stuff I'm on so I do understand what you're going thru. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers and send healing energy your way. So, the garden guy in your area says to water the plants and you've tried it with mixed results, hmmmm? I'll have to try I guess. The guy who was just approved by MCRA happens to be a landscape guy and I just sent him a quick e-mail. I don't know if he'll answer my question or not but we'll see. I couldn't imagine freezing temps in September. In September here we can still go out to the pool! At any rate, our temps are supposed to be in the 60's and 70's for a few days so as I said above I've uncovered my plants, brought the ones out that I put in the storage room and watered them today. They all looked okay after the ordeal of freezing temps for 2-3 days in a row.

Donna, congratulations on Jimmy getting his disability. I had to fight almost 2 years for mine {I ended up getting an attorney} and yes, they keep the first 5-6 months as a waiting period or some such. Personally, I think it's a way to get out of paying more. In my case, the injury I have was listed as an injury for senior citizens and had an automatic approval but b'cuz mine was due to trauma I had to prove I was really disabled. Messed up, isn't it?

Penny, I'm sure you'll miss your CB while you're gone but I'm sure your son will take good care of her. Do the other kitties also go to your son's or do they stay home and have someone come in to take care of them? Sounds like you're going to have quite the vacation with your grandkids! I hope you don't get sick on the plane. As for how I got the name Osiris, actually he told me that was what his name was! Osiris is an Egyptian god and I believe that Osiris was an Egyptian temple cat in a previous life. Elegant and kingly fit Osiris very well. It's cool that your daughter has a Maine Coon! They are great cats. We have a Maine Coon mix {or so I'm told} and he's something else! He's Ray's cat and sleeps with him at night. Ray was so happy one of the cats finally decided to sleep with him as most of the cats sleep on me. We have one {Kona} who sleeps on a pillow {one that he pulled out from under the covers and off the bed} next to the bed but the other 3 sleep on me.

Sandi, love the pictures you posted. The morning one is awesome and the lady with all the cats is wonderful. I too love the kitty in her pocket. The kitties coming out of the pots are cool too!

Teri, so glad the visit with the cancer doctor went great. That's awesome news! It's great that Michelle helped you in the store and you were able to get in and out so quickly. Even though Muchie is not gaining weight as long as he's eating and drinking I'm sure he's doing well. Glad to hear that your cats are all great.

Sugar, I'm so sorry about Tom' fur being so unkempt. I know you want him to be around awhile longer and I truly hope that he is. We have a cat {Scamp} who won't let us groom him {our Maine Coon mix} and trying to cut the knots out of his fur is truly dangerous with his claws. Ray "jokes" that he is going to get some welding gloves so he can groom him. I know how heartbroken you are about Girl Dog and you remain in my thoughts and prayers.

I hope I haven't missed anyone. If I did, I apologize. Take care everyone and have a fantastic day.

Hi Darla,

Thanks for explaining that great name, its true some kitties pick their own names as soon as you see them the name comes to you!My other two kitties have gone over rainbow bridge,we got 3 of them all together but from different shelters & CB is the last one left.Im glad my daughter has Simba(the maine coon) as I still get my daily kitty time with him Kona is also a very pretty name too.

Thanks Angie for the good wishes for my trip.Im stocked up on painkillers as running round after a 2 year old keeps me busy but I try not to pick up him as thats a killer on my backMy grandaughter is 8 so shes a good help when shes not at school.Hope your back starts feeling better very soon Angie.

Good news about the cancer Terri Im so glad.

Thats how I look in the morning Sandi

Have a great day everyone.

Hi guys, finally got a minute at work ( and I have another headache) but anywho...now that I have this spiffy new outside kitty house I can't get them to go inside !! I put the dry food inside last night but Mr.Mittys (Mittens) ate his wet and walked away. My other outside baby is Chester Sue ( I didn't know if she was a pregnant girl or fat boy-thus Chester and Sue-Chester Sue) hasn't been by in 2 days. Any ideas? It doesn't even have a front door or back door (right now) to not scare them away...I though once someone likes it I'll put a back flap to keep the heat in. I even put the kitty lounge chair under the tree where Mittys waits for his dinner for him, thinking he'll lay in the bed, nooo now he walks around the chair and lays in the dirt
suggestions??? I worry so much about them, I want them warm and comfy. Oh and little miss feral that came inside...loves to stretch on the couch in front of the fireplace and snuggle now. I wish i could bring in just 2 more.....I swear no more after that really.
Helen

oh my Helen that sounds like me...Just smokey no more after that i promise....hmm I also worry about the feral female outside too, we have skunks that come up to eat the food at night so i can only put it out during the day. I left the back barn door open with a blanket on it so she has a place to get into.

I cannot get the pics of princess to upload at all, i dont know why. She is a very beautiful calico kitten, she is maybe 3-4 mths old now. Certain pics i can get uploaded but others i cant, im going to try to get the 1's off of my fone. They seem to upload fine.  And i certainly hope he thinks he's in heaven. He doesnt have to fight for food, and now is nice and warm, no more trying to find a warm place to sleep.

Darla: that is jilarious about the welding gloves to groom the cat. My hubby used those plus a thick carhart to help me deworm and put flea stuff on Stinky. He still scratched him through the coat, and tried to bite through the gloves but didnt work.

Good morning all. We have another sunny day but the frost is still looking like a little snow covering. In a couple of little spots the sun has reached the ground and has melted it.

Chewy and I together may have finally taught Black and White that he can't come upstairs into the house proper. For two nights he has stayed in the garage and/or the basement. Actually last night he went back outside and slept in one of the houses with fresh straw. Right now he is in the basement in his favorite chair. As long as he doesn't spray there he is welcome. The first spray and no more basement, just the garage will be open to him. He isn't afraid of me any more, but I am still afraid of him. He has tried to attack my feet and legs more than once. When he is on a stair step I carry a blanket, towel or cookie sheet to protect myself. One time I didn't notice him and he grabbed by foot but thankfully I had good shoes on and he didn't bite through.

For some reason I am famished. I don't know if it is stress from losing Girl Dog or what. I am also sleepy tired. I think I will take a nap and then take a walk later. I still can't believe she is gone.

Take care everyone,

Sugar

Oh no, I just found an abcess on Mouse's neck next to his ear. That is where Little Joe bit him. Now I have to call the vet and make an appointment to get it lanced and drained and then meds. I have been checking for this and I found it. I am so aggravated. Little things never stop. What can you do? Life just goes on and on. Some times I feel like it is a freight train about to clobber me.

Sugar

Sugar sorry to hear Mouse has an abcess from Little joe biting him. Keep in touch to let us know. Stripes sends her love. xxoo  Angie that was supposed to be me before my coffee, we must be twins before our first cup. ha! ha!

No problem Shell. If you upload it to your album I can even take it from there.

Sugar, I only had one cat taken in for 2 drains after developing an abcess on her abdomen. I didn't know what it was... I never expect to see one there. It was the size of a lemon. I took her in because  I had no idea what was coming out of her. It was in a bad spot as far as dragging it into some dust or dirt, and then a super infection would happen that could kill her.  I had a feral kitty with one under her. It took me 11 days to capture her and it was too late to even operate. The vet scraped the dead flesh off and there was nothing left to hold in her organs.

Now, I had rusty  with about 6 to 8 abcesses all around her head, and Tasha had 7 on her back/ I  did both of these cats myself with hot compresses all day long until these abcesses were drained. I guess I was at them every 20 minutes all day. Rusty looked horrible with her head blown up, and it took me around 4 hours to get it all under control. I had a pan of warm water that I kept changing and making sure it was still warm, but not too hot for the cats to be able to stand.

OH, and Sugar, I think once a cat instills fear, it stays there where you never fully let your guard down. With Lucky, I went into his yard with a trash can lid, and I swung his play desk in circles until I fed him and got out.

Now, with Geezer peezer pumpkin Pie, I carry the hose with me, and it is usually frozen now. I hope he doesn't catch on to that.

Good evening, all! Hope this finfds y'all doing well and with things going great. Things are good here. I spent this morning reading some then doing some work for MCRA. Then my son surprised me and came over to take me to lunch! We went to Salt Grass, a popular steak house here. I got a chicken fried steak and it was very good. After we got  back home from lunch, he stayed over and we visited. Then Ray came home from work early so I wasn't on the computer. I've been watching Big Cat Week all week on Nat Geo Wild. It's been great. There were actually 3 shows on mountainlions/cougars {one in South America on pumas as they're called there and 2 based here in the states} which are my favorite "big" cat even though technically they're not a big cat. Don't have time to direct something to each perosn who posted. Will try to catch up tomorrow. In the meantime, hope everyone's doing well especially those of you in mourning.

Take care everyone and have a fantastic day.

Good morning, all! Hope this finds y'all doing well and with things going great. Today is watering day so I'll be going out later to water my plants. I'll also be cleaning the bathroom which is the one room I clean. Except for mopping the floor and {while I'm in this orthopedic shoe} the bathtub so Ray will do those. I also have to do a write-up for MCRA. I was supposed to get some further info from this guy but he never supplied it so he'll probably be denied.

Penny, you're welcome for explaining the name. Yes, I truly believe they tell us their names as the names just come to me. As for Kona, when he was found the maintenance guys kept him all day and were calling him Loka as he was truly a wild cat and they thought he was a girl. I really liked the name and it fit him but we discovered he was a boy so we had to find another name. Kona is the name of some very strong Hawaiian winds so I thought that would fit him just as well. He liked the name so that's what his name became. The other cats all have names that they told me. For Shasta I was going thru a baby name book and calling out names to Ray. I got to Shasta and she climbed into my lap and put her paw on the pageso I couldn't turn it! Cinder got onto a table of candles that were burning and tried to check them out right after he was found. I hollered out "Stop it Cinder!" and that became his name. And finally, Scamp, I was just looking at him watching him run and the name Scamp came to mind. I also thought of Shadow {b'cuz he has shadow stripes on his gray fur} but he liked Scamp better. I'm so sorry that 2 of your kitties have gone over the Rainbow Bridge. That's such a hard thing. I'm glad you get some kitty time with Simba in addition to the cat you have left.

Helen, sorry you had a headache. Hope you didn't have it very long. Also, sorry your outside kitties aren't using the new house. Have you tried putting catnip inside? Maybe that would work. Chester Sue is a great name! lol Have you found out what he/she is yet? I'm so glad that Little Miss Feral loves to snuggle now, that's really great! I know what you mean about wanting to  take just one or two more in. There's a couple great outside cats who I'd love to take in but I already have 5 in a small 2 bedroom apartment and I logically know that anymore would seriously throw off the dynamic that we have. But no more after that, right?!?!?

Shell, yes, I do laugh whenever Ray mentions the welding gloves! Princess does sound like a beautiful kitten. I love calicoes. I'm sorry you can't get her  picture to upload. I, like Sugar, can't do pictures at all so I understand the frustration.

Donna, sounds like you've had some dealings with abcesses. You're so right in that once a cat instills fear it remains. I hope your Geezer doesn't catch onto the frozen hose either!

Sugar, I'm glad that you taught Black and White Tom not to come into the house but also glad he's able to get into the garage and basement when the weather is really cold. Sorry to hear about the abcesson Mouse. Let us know how things go at the vet.

Teri, it's great that Michelle is going to help y'all with laundry. I'm glad you had your inflammatory pills. It's smart to take them right before bed and again first thing in the morning. I take multiple pills several times during the dsay for my pain and muscle spasms. It's great that your cats are doing so well and playing.

Take care everyone and have a fantastic day.

Poor little Mouse was put under, his neck shaved and lanced and drained. I knew Little Joe was trying to kill him, he has attacked Mouse twice now in the last couple of months. Thank God for Chewy, when Mouse crys, Chewy is right there to save him. I have been holding him since we came home except for having to get up every now and then to take care of some one else.

Teri, thanks goodness you finally got the insurance company to cooperate. And I am glad the meds are helping you. I hope Michelle enjoys the nutcracker. I have heard of it for years but never seen it. Any thing like that is in the city and even as a young adult I wouldn't go there. I have a thing about cities. I don't like them.

I remember about the kitty with the abscessed belly. Bad thing happen, I know you did your best to save her. You know most of the time Little Joe bypasses Mouse with just a mean look, but at least a couple of times he attacked him. One good thing, Mouse is a large cat too.

This morning I had 8 deer milling around, eating in my yard. They went across the creek and it wasn't but about 10 minutes when I heard a heavy gun go off. I bet that guy down the creek a little ways and across it got one of my babies. I keep telling them not to go down the creek at all. There is safety here and up on the hill. I understand he eats them, but especially wants the ones with trophy antlers. I try to keep them safe.

Well I am going to go check on Mouse.
