Just popping in before I go to bed. I wanted to report on something Kona did today that was funny as all get out. It was this morning while I was reading right before I got up and got on the computer. Kona kept meowing and standing up at my closet door and I just kept watching him in between reading. Then he started in on the doorknob ~ first he was rattling it then he actually tried to turn it! This went on for a few minutes so finally I got up and opened the door for him. He promptly went in and stayed in there asleep in my dirty clothes basket for 3-4 hours! lol

Teri, glad the insurance covers your medication. It's hard when they don't. I used to take something to help me sleep but the insurance stopped covering it and it was the only thing I could take so I had to stop taking it. I get samples every once-in-awhile from my doctor but mostly I rely on another medication I now take that makes me sleepy so I take it at bedtime. That's great of Michelle's big sister to take her to the ballet ~ I hope she enjoys The Nutcracker. Sounds like the three of y'all were really busy today. I spent too much time on the computer and didn't get to our bathroom today or get my plants watered. I'll water the plants in the morning before getting on the computer and do the bathroom afterwards.

Sugar, sounds like Mouse went thru an ordeal. Hope he recovers soon. I'm sorry about your deer. That's hard on you I know. Sounds like you had quite a few in your yard today. Thanks for starting the new thread.

Penny, good to see you here. Hope you have a great vacation with your family. Enjoy your grandchildren.

Shell, your kitties are beautiful. Of our 5 cats, 2 are very definitely Ray's, 1 is mostly Ray's but spends time with me as well especially at night when he sleeps on my feet {mostly b'cuz Ray moves alot in his sleep I believe}, and 2 are mine. The last 2 that we brought in were rescued as kittens and were supposed to be mine {I even did everything for them as babies} but they ended up choosing Ray. However, it's a good thing b'cuz Kona ways 18-20 pounds and Scamp weighs about 12-14 pounds and both have never outgrown playing rough which I leave to Ray.

Donna and Sandi, good to see y'all here.

Take care everyone and have a fantastic day.

Good morning, all! Hope this finds y'all doing well and with things going great. Things are good here. Forgot to tell y'all that when my son was over the day, he surprised us by ordering us a new printer! I had asked him about possibly getting us new ink for the printer we have and he ended up ordering us a printer instead! He's very generous that way. So, the printer's supposed to be here by Tuesday. Not much else going on since my post last night. Just reading and now computer stuff.

Take care everyone and have a fantastic day.

Shell, Princess is a lovely little girl. She reminds me of my Colette.

Sugar and Dale, so sorry for your losses I have been catching up here in the last hour or so...I hope everycat and everyone is doing ok.
This weekend my husband and I went out for his birthday and today I cleaned and did some Christmas shopping...there is laundry to fold but for some reason it's not getting done as fast as I would like We bought Whiskers and Gingersnap (and their cat cousins-my sisters' cats) catnip gingerbread man toys and a tunnel to play in for Cat-mas I am hoping that soon, we might rescue a kitty for my husband, who seems more open to it now (we lost his cat Pesty in July and he has not been open to another kitty since).

I just have to add that I am still heartbroken over the massacre in Ct. May those poor children, their principal and the teacher who died protecting her students all rest in peace. Amen...

Good evening all, finally got our Christmas tree up, did some christmas shopping, got it almost done. still have to pick up the picture from the store my 2nd son the 13 yr old is giving to his 9 yr old brother as a gift. It is of the dog Rocky that passed away on oct.

Princess is a very sweet girl but still a little food aggressive but she's a lot better than what she was.

Smokey has adjusted quite well to being in the house. Quick movements and noises still spook him but he's getting a lil better. Will just take time of adjustment. Anyway off of here and shower and bed.Good nite all

Morning everyone, not much going on today , no snow  yet. just another damp dreay day. What a nice present your son as giving his brother. Hope Princess & Smokey don't climb the tree. Talk to you later.

Good morning, all! Hope this finds y'all doing well and with things going great. Things are good here. The cats are all good, they're laying around the apartment. Not much going on here, our a/c froze up yesterday so it got awfully hot in the apartment and Ray had to work on it. He knows how so it beats calling maintenance and waiting for them especially on the weekend. Anyway, he got it working again. I finally got the bathroom clean yesterday.

Karen, good to see you here.

Kristi, sounds like you got some good gifts. I'm sure the cats will enjoy them. It's good your that y'all are going to rescue a kitty for your husband. I'm sur e once it's done, he'll feel the bond. I'm sorry for the loss of his Pesty in July.

Shell, what a great gift your one son is giving to the other! It's so thoughtful and I'm sure will be well received. It's great that Princess is a little less food aggressive and that Smokey is adjusting well to living indoors. It may take a couple months before Smokey is completely adjusted but he'll get there.

Sandi, love your tag! Sorry you're having another damp, dreary day. Maybe you'll get some snow soon. Do you usually get snow this time of year.

Take care and have a fantastic day.

Sugar, I am so sorry to hear about Mouse's abcess, I hope he has a speedy recovery. Chewy is so good to come running when Mouse cries and protects him.

Penny, you may have already left but Happy Hoildays to you too and have fun.

Darla, I live in Illinois so yes we get alot of snow usually. I won't  mind now that I don't have to get up and drive to work in it anymore since I retired, used to hate it as I had to be there at 3:30am and roads weren't always plowed yet.  Later.

Hi everyone, Salem and Princess Pea are precious. I love kitties. I watched Too Cute on the Animal Planet and they had kittens from almost new born to 10 weeks or so old and I wanted one soooooo bad!!! I really don't think there is any thing more precious than kittens unless it is more kittens. I love puppies too, but kittens are something else again.

I thank you for your sympathy on my loss of Girl Dog. She lived a good long life and I think most of it was a happy life except when I trimmed her nails or tried to sneak a pill in a bite of her food. She chased many squirrels and deer and she was a snake exterminater. She did not like snakes and you better get out of the way if she found one. It was a matter of nature that she didn't like snakes and I couldn't find fault with her for that. Darn, I miss her too. I miss my Pudge also. The other morning when I woke up Punkin was sleeping in Pudge's spot under my chin and for a moment I thought Pudge was still here.

Sandi, Cairo Illinois is as far west as I have ever been. If Cairo is kind of where the Mississippi and the Ohio come together. It has been so long I can't remember for sure. It was a lot of river!!
That I remember.

Poor little Mouse. I know he is okay but with his neck shaved just below his ear he looks so sad. He said it is too wet to go outside and that makes him a little unhappy. Since Black and White has learned to stay in the basement and garage and not come upstairs my officially adopted kitties can come and go as they please through the pet door. Tommy just couldn't understand why he couldn't go outside any more in the good weather. Things are working out for this winter.
I sure didn't want B & W to have to stay out in bad weather so I was sacrificing my kitties freedom. Things are now copacetic!

I think I am going to have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I made veggie soup for lunch but just don't want it for dinner too, so peanut butter it is! I love peanut butter.

Good evening, all! Just checking back in though ther'es nothing going on. I sat in my bedroom on my bed {the most comfortable place for me to sit to read} and read. Osiris curled up on my lap then I had Cinder {off to my side} and Scamp {at my feet} lying nearby on the bed.

Michela, good to see you here.

Sandi, Illinois, hmmmm? I guess you would get some snow. I understand how being retired and able to stay home would make you like it more! Wow, having to be at work at 3:30 am and no plowed roads!!!!

Sugar, I've watched that Too Cute when they had kittens before ~ absolutely adorable!!!! What great stories about Girl Dog! You'll always miss her and Pudge but it will get easier.

Poor Mouse, I hope he gets better soon and that his fuur grows back soon too. I'm glad Black and White has learned to be strictly in the garage and basement so that the officially adopted kitties can go in and out. Maybe has B and W learns to trust you even more  you can catch him and neuter him.

Take care everyone and have a fantastic day.

ok i have a crazy question for every1. I nev er had this happen before, I sent smokey to be fixed last wk, when he came home he had 3 shaved spots, 1 on his leg where they took blood for his test, his back end of course, but theres also 1 on his tummy of a small incision with something green on it. I have never seen this before and wondered if any1 knew why they did that. none of my other male cats ever had that done. He has been doing ok inside, quite enjoying allthe attention he gets, but he acts like a Tom when he gets around my old cat puddy. I havent had any other problems with him except he spooks very easily with the different noises of being inside. He'll get better and used to things as time passes. Few months he wont even be the same kitty

Ok nxt, my son who doesnt live with me anymore (20 yrs old) rescued a kitty off the street saturday, this kitty is in ver bad shape, skinny, pudge belly which i said was worms. He has an eye infection and bare skin and very red on inside of legs and around rear end also sore looking. they gave him to some1 that already has many kittys to help it and is supposed to get him back tomorrow. Anything else my cat lady friends can tell me to do to help this kitty?, he is supposed to be bring him up to me on Christmas so i can see him, i may end up with a kitty to for a small time frame to bring him back to health.

HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!

Good morning, all! Hope this finds y'all doing well and with things going great. Things are good here. Nothing going on. Ray's off again {with pay} and he only works a half day tomorrow as I have a doctor's appointment.

Shell, I have no idea  what that third shaved spot could be. As for his tom-like behavior around your girl cat, I wouldn't be surprised if it keeps up as I have one who is neutered but every once-in-awhile gets in a mood and goes after our female cat. I just squirt him with the water bottle when he does it. Sounds like the kitty your son found really needs to go to the vet.

Teri, glad you had a great day. Sorry that Harry injured his ankle but glad to hear a brace will help. My broken foot is about healed up. I'm allowed to wear "leather soled shoes" {of which I have none so I'm still wearing the orthopedic shoe}  for a couple weeks then I can graduate to tennis shoes. Ray figures it'll be about a month before I can go barfeoot again as I'm supposed to wear the orthopedic boot  when I go out for a while yet. Luckily, I don't have to go back to the doctor unless I have more pain or other problems. Glad the cats are doing well. Ours are well also.

Sandi and Nikki, good to see y'all here.

Sugar, sorry you don't feel like posting. Good to see you here. Have fun making your birdhouse. That'sa so great that you make them.

Take care everyone and have a fantastic day.

I love birdhouses too Nikki. I also have 3 winter roosts hanging for our feathered friends. They can huddle inside out of the wind and survive winter much better. I still haven't been able to get to the basement to drill the opening. The phone has been ringing off the hook this morning. I do have the batteries charging for my drill.

Shell I can't imagine what was on Smokey's belly. Maybe he had a little growth that the vet thought should be removed. If you get a chance to ask, please let us know the answer too.
The little stray may have been suffering from diarhea due to poor quality food and/or worms. That could make his little rear end a little red and sore. Good food and worming should take care of that. Donna is more our eye problem expert. The bare and raw skin could be stress and or allergies. Cats tend to lick them selves a little too much when stressed and you know how rough their little tongues are. Thank you for caring.

Teri I'm sorry Harry might have done damage to his ankle/ham strings. I hope the brace keeps him from using it in the wrong way and doing more damage to it. I'm glad you and the cats are doing well for now. The Lord bless you and keep it that way.

DARLA: I AGREE, I TOLD HIM TO TAKE KITTY TO VET. I DONT THINK HE HAS THE MONEY YET TO TAKE HIM. ALSO THE CAT SMOKEY IS GOING AFTER IS A NEUTERED MALE, NOT FEMALE. WHEN MY SON COMES TO VISIT DURING HOLIDAY IM GOING TO TAKE KITTY TO VET FOR CHECKUP AND ADDRESS HIS ISSUES.

Shell it funny the vet didn't tell you why they shaved his Belly, My Vets tells me everything they do & why. Sugar I think its neat your making bird houses. Morning everyone. Later. Things to do.

Shell I noticed you said you "sent" Smokey. Did you use a transport van to a spay/neuter clinic? These clinics are wonderful since they offer lower costs enabling many people who could not otherwise afford it to spay/neuter their pets. Unfortunately these clinics have to process the animals more quickly than most veterinary offices.  It's possible that the assistant prepping cats for neutering might have begun a belly shave thinking he or she was prepping a female. it's possible there was a tiny nick in the process. They would not be too quick to admit to this in your paperwork.

YES I DID USE A TRANSPORT VAN TO SEND HIM TO A SPAY AND NEUTER CLINIC. I WAS VERY CONFUSED BY THE BELLY SHAVE WITH THE LITTLE NICK ON HIS SKIN HIS BELLY. I FINALLY GOT A GOOD LOOK AT MY OLDER SONS KITTY. THE SKIN IS IN BAD CONDITION, THEYS ARE EVEN WORSE. IM CALLING VET TOMORROW MORNING AND WILL PAY FOR IT MY SELF. THE SKIN DOWN HIS RYRS IS SO RAW, ALMOST BLOOD STREAKED AND CLOUDY MUCUS LOOKING STUFF IN HIS EYES. I ALMOST CRIED WHEN I SAW HIM. I GOT HIM IN MY POSSESSION AND IM GOING TO DR HIM UP.

SORRY THE SKIN DOWN HIS EYES

Sugar - I am sorry to hear about Girl Dog and I send kitty hugs to Mouse - I hope he's feeling better.  I love that you are making bird houses to keep your bird visitors warm and cosy in the winter

Shell, I am sorry to hear about Smokey and the little stray.  Bless you for looking after them.

Hi Darla - glad to hear your broken foot is nearly healed.

Hi Teri - sorry to hear about Harry - hope you are having a good day today.

Hi Karen and Sandi - hope you are having a good day.

Donna, I read about your vultures - they are such characters!  It always makes me smile to read about them.  I get lots of birds here, but would love to have vultures - I think I am suffering from vulture envy!  And great news about Jimmy's disability coming through.

I got a mild respiratory infection a while ago which knocked me about a bit - but I am getting better.  Bumbles is giving me purr therapy   The weather here is warming up, so David and I are kept busy filling the bird baths every day.  The little birds are very neat and tidy with their baths, but the larger birds love to have a big splash!

Val

Good for you Shell!! That poor kitty sounds like he needs immediate vet care!

Shell, it sounds like he might have ear mites when you mention the skin around his ears. Poor little guy. I hope he gets all well and feeling better soon, again I say Bless you for your loving, caring spirit.

Teri, good luck for Harry and the fitting of his brace.

Cute birdhouse Sandi, most of mine aren't so fancy, I do paint them and they really look good to my birds and me.

I guess all of us will be very busy for the next couple of weeks. I will try to drop in and say hello and right now i wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a happy new year!

Good morning, all! Hope this finds y'all doing well and with things going great. Things are good here. The printer from our son arrived yesterday and Ray got it hooked up. The printer is a fancy one, it scans and makes copies too. The printer works great. I also received my Christmas gift from our daughter. I got a very pretty pair of earrings with a Celtic knot design and some pretty stones, the earrings themselves are either sterling silver or white gold {I can't see the markings on them to tell which but I'd venture to say they're silver}. Ray's gift arrived last week and it was a cast iron chili pot. She sent the gifts unwrapped which is why we were able to "open" them before Christmas. I go later today for an appointment with my new PCP. It's basically a get to know you visit so she'll okay all my prescriptions.

Sugar, I think it's great you make birdhouses and have so many hanging for your bird friends. I have one hanging on a tree outside our apartment. Used to have bird feeders but can no longer afford the bird seed as our son was paying for it and can no longer do so.

Shell, I'm glad you're taking the kitty to the vet and that they'll work with you on the cost. The kitty sure sounds like he's in bad shape. I also hope his eyesight can be saved.

Sandi, cute birdhouse.

Karen, good to see you here.

Val, thanks for your well wishes on my foot. I too am glad it's almost healed. I'm sorry to hear you had an infection but am glad that you're healing. Purr therapy is the greatest!

Teri, that's great that Michelle made cookies. Our daughter called me yesterday b'cuz she was making the homemade frosting that is a familyrecipe. She was having trouble with the first part of making it and I had to talk her thru it. Good luck with your's and Harry's doctor visits.

Take care everyone and have a fantastic day.

Hey Darla, everything is more or less okay here. It can always be better, but I am not complaining. Sounds like you got great Christmas Gifts. For some reason all of mine so far have been food! Stolens, candy, rum cake, Amish butter and cheeses and beautiful dish towels. And fancy crackers to go with the cheeses! I heard a rumor there will be bird and deer food coming next. I don't know that for sure. Just a rumor. Now if some one would send me cat and dog food/treats I would be sitting pretty. Santa, did you read that?

I mostly pray for health and happiness for all of us.

Sugar

Hi Sugar! Glad to hear that you're okay. So you've been getting food, hmmm? It all sounds good especially the fancy crackers and cheeses. I hope you get that bird seed and deer food that you've heard rumors about. I also hope that you get some cat and dog food/treats.  I requested an Amazon gift card so I could get a bunch of books but so far I haven't gotten it. Pretty much the only person left is my son so I might not get a gift card this year. I also wish for health and happiness for all of us.

round when I was a child.

I am heading off to hopefully get David's Christmas present tonight.  I want to get him something really special as this past year has been very tough on him.  So hopefully I will find something really nice.

Good Morning Darla, Sandi, Teri and Val and of course everyone else and their furkids here on Care2! Bless you all.

Oh, I just got a Lowe's gift card for $25. I am always shopping around in that place. They know Chewy and me by now. They give Chewy a treat when we check out. It's cute how his whole body starts wiggling when we get close to the register! He is a chow hound.

I'm so happy for you Teri to get such nice Christmas gifts! My birthstone is a sapphire and I always look in the jewelery departments but I just can't buy one. When I win the lottery I will get one! You, Harry and Michelle have a wonderful Christmas and of course I wish the furkids one too!

Val it has been so long since I heard carolers that I forgot there was such a thing! It was nice, wasn't it? I remember standing out on the little porch all chilly but happy to see and hear them. Oh well, I guess you call it progress when you listen to the whatever? I only hear carols in Church, the car and on TV, No modern devices otherwise.

Thanks for the carolers Sandi! A very cute Christmas 'card'.

Darla I will know Sunday about the Christmas feed/treats! I hope the rumor was true!!

It is raining here. I woke up around 4 o'clock for a potty break and Chewy wanted one too. It's a good thing he went then. He won't even stick his little nose out the door right now. Around 8 pm it is supposed to turn to snow flurries with maybe a half inch to an inch of accumulation. But maybe not! It is supposed to get very cold for today and tomorrow. Then warm up a little on the week end, we shall see.

I wonder how Shell's little rescue is doing? I think she took him to the vet yesterday, I hope he will be able to be saved without any lasting problems. Say a little prayer for the kitten and a bless you for Shell,

And wishing you all the best weekend and an early merry Christmas.,

Good morning, all! Hope this finds y'all doing well and with things going great. Things are good here. My appointment yesterday went well. The doctor was shocked at the number of meds I'm on but left well enough alone. I go back in February for blood tests as it will have been 6 months since my last blood test. She wants me to get blood tests every 6 months to check my liver and kidney function due to all the meds I'm on. I liked her well enough though I probably shouldn't get used to her as she is only going to be there thru February and then they are getting someone else more permanent which means I'll have to switch doctors again or follow this one downtown. I did get some good news in that I don't have to have my "well woman exam" since I've had a complete hysterectomy! I alwasy wondered why I did it but listened to the doctors. This doctor said the "rules" {she used a different word but I can't remember it} have changed and I don't have to go thru all that anymore. Today I need to water my plants and I'll be wrapping them up for a couple days of freezing weather. In wrapping them, there's a few I'll be putting in my outside storage closet.

Sandi, love the caroling cats and dogs. I like everyone else here will add that I also miss the carolers that used to house to house. I remember well being part of a group once or twice.

Teri, how awesome that Harry got you those rings! I'll bet they're very pretty. Blue topaz and sapphire are great stones. Ruby is my personal favorite and it happens to be my birthstone but it'd be my favorite even if it wasn't. I have a ruby ring that needs to be sized and have a missing stone replaced. I asked Ray to make that a gift for something instead of buying me something new. Maybe for my next birthday. It's great that you're able to get Michelle a Santa gift. Do you know what you'll be getting her? I hope you're able to make it to your appointment.

Val, thanks for hoping my wish gets here. I'm still holding out hope myself. Of course, I just have to ask Ray if  can get some books for Christmas and if It  can at all be worked out he'll let me do so. Hope you're able to find a nice gift for David.

Sugar, how wonderful that you got a Lowe's gift card! I'm sure you'll have fun spending it. I'd be in the garden section if it was me! So, you find out on Sundayif those rumors are true? I truly hope they are.

I too hope that the kitten Shell got  is able to be saved without any lasting repercussions. I hope we hear from her soon.

I can just imagine Chewy not sticking his nose outside! I hope you don't get too cold and rainy/snowy.

Take care everyone and have a fantastic day.

The little kitty is only about 6 mths old and weighed 4 lbs, heavy infest of worms which he was given drontal for it. we have to pat bathe him every day for the raw skin on his hiney $ down his legs  which he got a cortisone shot for the raw skin and itch. When he gets a little bit better i'll give him a bath with dawn. He has a respiratory infection which he got a shot of antibiotic that would last 2 wks and VERY bad eye infection, we got drops for the eyes done 2x a day. And he also has a very bad case of ear mites & drops for them 2x a day. Please say prayers for this lil guy he has a long road to hoe. $165 later i put a lil down on it and they said it was ok for me to make pmts on the rest of it. I also had him tested for the leukemia and aids to make sure i wasnt fighting a losing battle, But he is SO much worth every dime, He such a sweetheart. Just after 1 dose of the eye drops his lil eye looked a smidge better. It does look like his eyesight will be ok after we get this infection under control & get all the redness to go down. He's supposed to go back in 2 wks to see if hes made any progress. Will keep every1 posted on him....talk later all and  have a good day...

Oh Shell, poor little guy having all that!  Bless you for looking after him - I'm sure he will be feeling better with all the treatment you have got for him.  And I will definitely say prayers for him and look forward to a picture.

Hi Darla, I am still hoping that gift card turns up for you.

Sugar, caroling was lovely!  I only remember it from England - the crisp cold mingling with voices singing ....  I haven't had anyone come to my door in Australia - I've gone to carols by candlelight here though.  But even after all these years, a warm Christmas still feels strange. David tells me Jesus didn't get snow, but I still miss it!

So I love any snow graphics - thanks again Sandi - that's a really nice one

I am still working on David's present.  I couldn't get exactly what I wanted yesterday, so back to the drawing board.

Wishing all many blessings at Christmas and through the new year.

morning all, kitty is doing fairly well, his eyes are getting better each day. I dewormed him last night, OH my goodness, eeewwww!!!! The only thing still worrying me is he is still very itchy. He licks and bites his skin and fur constantly. But his appetite is a little better and he seems to be eating a lil more. They were giving him adult cat food, im feeding him kitten chow, i think he needs the extra nutrients to get stronger and build his body up. All other kittys doing good, Smokey is calming down with his rambuntcious attitude and attacking the old man kitty (puddy). I will get a picture of the sick kitty today and upload it so every1 can see him.

Shell, thank you again for your kindness to one of God's little ones. I am looking so forward to hear he is a happy and healthy kitty. He is on his way, thanks to you.

Snow last night! Just a small one, but things are white. One good thing, the wind was so fierce last night that it dried the rain up from the deck and roads so there isn't ice under the snow. It is still very windy. And snowing.

I will be going to the vet's office shortly to pick up Girl's ashes and get Chewy's nails trimmed. And fill up the gas tank. It went up over 30 cents a gallon since the day before when I didn't fill it up. Possibly tomorrow I won't have to go anywhere.

Darla I will most probably spend my gift card in either the plant section or the hand tool section. I will go to the plant first. I made a new birdhouse yesterday and I really need a sander of some sort to work on small projects. I'll enjoy the shopping and so will Chewy who always goes with me. Does anyone else's cats reach up their leg with their claws extended and start to stretch to get your attention? Both Tom and Rose does this to me all the time. Rosie just did me. It hurts!

It's 12/21/12, the end of the Mayan calender. Tongue in cheek, I am kind of wondering if I should go buy a new car or something and at least have it for a few hours.

Take care everyone,

Sugar

Well we got are first snow yesterday. High wind and 41/2 inches of snow, no power for over 4 hours. Today I couldn't get out the back door, had to go out the front and walk around , shoveled the sidewalks and deck off then couldn't get the backdoor to open as handle froze, had to walk around the front again, prop the back door open to feed the cats. Glad I don't have to go any where. Next Friday the 28th is my birthday I'll be 64. feel more like 84 somedays ha! ha!.   Well Sugar, don't do anything foolish as I don't think the worlds gonna end . Stripes doesn't do that to me just meows loudly and stares. Shell, can't wait to see a picture of that kitten. Hello to eveyone else. Love you all.

The Mayan calendar officially ended at the beginning of the winter solstice on Dec. 21, 2012, at 6:11 a.m. EST. Anyway, we're still here and now we have winter to look forward to.   YIKES!!

I have been so incredibly busy this past week, trying to get ready for Christmas.  I think my oldest grandson will be showing up tonight to visit for the holidays.  My daughter and granddaughter might also be here tonight.  There is still so much to do and Bob won't be home till Christmas Eve so I'm on my own...oh well, I like it better that way.  I work well under pressure.

It is snowing like a good thing outside.  Last night, a huge lynx walked down the road beside my house and his tracks were still there this morning.  I wonder if he is living under the shed again.  One of these days I will get a good picture of one of these big cats....it's just I only usually see them at night and it's hard to get a good shot.  My daughter probably scared the heck out of him with all her hollering at the window

We get carollers at my house and I live in the forest, go figure...lol.  The youth group at our local church goes out on horse drawn sleigh around the area to carol....it's really cool.  The local farmers also take kids out for sleigh rides after the Santa Claus Parade/Town Christmas Party.  I love living in the boonies sometimes

It's great to see that everyone is doing well.  I'll be looking for news on your kitty Shell.  I'll try to be back later on.  Have a great day!!

Good morning, all! Hope this finds y'all doing well and with things going great. Things are good here. Not much going on here. It got down to 28 F here!!!! Brrrr! My plants should be safe from winter's chill as I wrapped them up pretty good and put some of them in our outside storage closet. It''s supposed to right at freezing tonight then going up into the upper 60's tomorrow with a low of 50, Sunday and Monday bring us temps in the mid 70's with a low of 49, and Tuesday will be the low 70's with a low of 35. As you can see, our winter weather changes quite rapidly from day to day.

Shell, wow that little kitty has alot going on! You're so great for taking him on and making him better. I sincerely hope his vision is not lost before the infection is under control. Now that he's had that long-lasting antibiotic shot and has eyedrops to clear up his eyes he should pull thru and not lose his vision. Have you named him yet? Yes, you should be feeding the little guy Kitten Chow {or the kitten equivalent of any other brand} as he'll need the extra nutrients that they put in there for kittens.

Glad to hear that Smokey is calming down. I'm sure he'll be a great cat.

Helen and Karen, good to see y'all here.

Sandi, love the white Christmas tag! Wow, 5 inches of snow!!!! Stay in if you can and enjoy the snow that way. Yes, I usually get the blood sugar and cholesterol tests done too. I'm sure this new PCP will continue. Are you diabetic? I'm not though I was told once that I was pre-diabetic. However, my blood sugar tests have all come out normal. I used to be hypoglycemic {low blood sugar} but have evidently improved.

Teri, glad you had a great and restful day. Hope your appointment goes well and that you make it in time. Drive careful.

Val, thanks. My son still hasn't done Christmas gifts so I might get a gift card from him as he knows what my wish was. I'm sorry that you don't get any snow for Christmas. Snow's not our thing here either. If we were to get snow I'd be shocked as heck!

Sugar, so you got snow too. Is it expected to stick around or will you lose it after a day or so? That's what happens on the super rare occasions we get snow, iit doesn't really stick around. We're much more likely to get ice from frozen rain.

It's great that you got that gift card and you know where you're going to spend it. It'd be nice if you could get your sander and something from the plant department. It's also great that you can take Chewy shopping with you. No, none of my cats stretch on my legs to get my attention but Osiris will reach out and tap me with his paw {claws extended} either on the arm or in the face to get my attention. Kona and Scamp will reach out and grab you {with claws} as you walk by grabbing whatever happens to be in reach {legs if they're on the floor, stomach area if they're on a table, etc}.

Take care everyone and have a fantastic day.

ok ran into new problem with kitten, went to vet which, you all knew, vet said the hairless redness on his hiney and in between his legs was urine or feces burns. But this lil guy seem to be itching and scratching a whole lot. Maybe the itching was caused by cheap food they had him on. I dunno...He litterally bites his skin trying to get the itch...think i may not have a choice but to bathe him in dawn to see if that relieves some of the itching....now has me scratching my head trying to figure this out...

How about trying  those bath treatments made with oatmeal. thats what I used when I had a skin rash. How come he didn't give you something for it.  good luck.

It sounds like he needs an antihistimine cuz he's allergic to something. Good luck Shell.

Shell do a web search on itching in cats maybe you can find something to help. I know benadryl works but don't know if its safe on animals.

it is totally safe for animals, i have to use benadryl on 2 of my cats. I am going to get kitty bath with oatmeal in it if i can find it, thank you for your thoughts on the subject. I have no idea why the vet didnt give me something for it, i suppose he thought the cortisone shot would stop the itching. But his skin has a foul smell to it from the skin infection. Figured maybe a bath would get rid of the smell and soothe the itching....keep any ideas coming, You all are very helpful, thank you

Shell,

I have a cat that was starting to chew his tail off. He had it raw with blood coming out. Then my  cat Monique had raw spots weeping on her back. I sprayed both with calamine spray which is to dry up weeping sores, and promote healing. Both cats healed. JT  is no longer bothering his tail.

Oh wow. The snow is still here, well at least all that hasn't blown away into drifts. It was a light snow, maybe only an inch. It is chilly here.

Speaking of cats scratching my leg for attention......Kenny doesn't have front claws (not my doing, some idiot who let him get lost) and instead of scratching, he jumps on my foot and starts biting! He only has bottom fangs now but he knows how to make the most of all he has left. I just about jumped out of my seat a moment ago. He surprised me.

Tomorrow I probably won't be here on Chit Chat. Mouse may visit his thread. I will be gone most of the day and into the evening with a short break in the middle of the day.

Have a good weekend everyone, I gotta take care of Kenny before I bleed out.

Good morning all! Hope this finds y'all doing well and with thing going great. Things are good  here. I've been awake since 6:00 this morning when Ray left to go to HEB {our grocery store}. Ray's busy cleaning and I'm here on the computer. I did go out and unwrap my plants. I had to wash some of the sheets b'cuz someone either spilled something on them or threw up on them. Just makes me glad the sheets were over the plants. No one came to apologize though which is aggravating. If I had done something like that I would've apologized and offered to wash the sheets but maybe that's just me. I've got Cinder sitting on the desk in front of the computer screen {being a screen saver of sorts! lol} so it's somewhat difficult to type. Well, I just got him to move. I did get an Amazongift card! Ray gave it to me  today as my Yule gift! He's got a ham and some sides to make our Yule dinner. We'll have Kelley Dee over.

Sandi, love the tags! I have the Kitty Klaus one as a magnet that I put on the front of my refridgerator during the holiday season and hide on the side the rest of the year. Wow, 7 degrees! That is really cold.

Shell, sorry you ran into a new problem withthe kitten though I think you're right about the vet thinking the cortisone shot would help with all that itching. Like others I'd recommend an oatmeal bath or Benadryl. Though with the Benadryl you'd probably need tocall the vet to be sure of how much to give him. Donna's idea of calamine spray {or maybe even the lotion}would work too and you wouldn't have to consult a vet on how much of it to use.

Angie and Donna, great to see y'all here.

Teri, glad you made it to your appointment and you got your sleeves for your arms. It sure was nice of Michelle to shovel the sidewalk and steps so you and Harry wouldn't fall.

Sugar, so you got some snow and it's cold. We're warming back up and will be warm {low to mid 70's for a high} thru the weekend. I'll have to wrap my plants back up Monday night for Tuesday morning's low of right at freezing and Wednesday's low of below freezing {27 or 28 I think it said}. So, Kenny grabs and bites does he? That makes sense since he doesn't have claws. Though we have Kona who nip at Ray when he's being playful and he's got claws. Poor Kenny to have been declawed. Will miss you tomorrow, have a good day.

Take care everyone and have a fantastic day.
