love your picture Darla. I'm reading Heather Graham's  The Death Dealer its a follow up to The Dead Room.

Yes, it is, Darla. During the Middle Ages and the time when the Black Plague was going on. The latest thing that has happened is that the bridge leading to Kingsbridge collapsed from having too many people on it at once and a lot of people died and were hurt, so the monks and nuns that lived there were helping to take care of the injured and dead people and Mattie Wise, the town's healer, has been helping, too, and the bridge is still being rebuilt.

Sandi, thank you. Love the picture you posted. I missed The Death Dealer somehow. I've got it on hold at the library now.

Laura, historical books are quite good. Sounds like this book keeps you enthralled.

I'm 74% of the way thru Sacrifice of Love. I'm on pins and needles. Sally, you're going to love and hate this book.

Happy reading everyone!

They sure are, Darla. It is. The latest thing that happened is that Mattie disappeared because the townspeople thought that she was a witch and she didn't want to get burned at the stake, so Caris was tried in her place, and Godwyn was all for killing her, but Caris was forced into divorcing Merthin and became a nun to keep herself from getting killed, and Merthin went to Florence, Italy, and the plague has gone through there, and he is now back in Kingsbridge, and Mother Cecilia has sent Caris and another nun to see the English king so they can get their money for Caris's hospice, and the plague is getting ready to enter Kingsbridge.

Laura, sounds like a lot is happening. Enjoy the book.

I finished Sacrifice of Love and it was absolutley fabulous! I give it 5 stars.

I'm now reading Dead Ringer by Mary Burton. The summary is ~

Beside each body, he leaves a simple charm bearing a woman's name. Ruth. Martha. Judith. The victims were strangers to each other, but they have been chosen with the utmost care. Each bears a striking resemblance to Kendall Shaw, a local anchorwoman...each brutally strangled by a madman whose obsession will never end...In front of the cameras, Kendall is the picture of stylish confidence. But at night she's haunted by nightmares in which she is young, alone, and filled with fear. Are these memories - or omens? Despite warnings from Richmond Detective Jacob Warwick, Kendall can't stop investigating the recent string of murders. She knows she holds the key to catching an obsessed psychopath - if he doesn't get to her first...With Daylight, the deeper Kendall and Jacob dig into the victims' backgrounds, the more terrifying the discoveries. For from the shadows of the past, a legacy of evil has resurfaced. Every murder, every moment has been leading to Kendall. And this time, nothing will stop the killer making her his final victim...

I finished Dead Ringer and it was excellent. I give it 5 stars.

I'm now reading Senseless by Mary Burton. The summary is ~

The vicious burns scarring the victims' flesh reveal the agony of their last moments. Each woman was branded with a star, then stabbed through the heart. With every death, a vengeful killer finds a brief, blissful moment of calm. But soon it's time for the bloodshed to start again. Ten years ago, Eva Rayburn and her sorority sisters were celebrating the end of the school year. That party turned into a nightmare Eva can't forget. Now she's trying to start over in her Virginia hometown, but a new nightmare has begun. Every victim is linked to her. And Detective Deacon Garrison isn't sure whether this mysterious woman needs investigating - or protecting. Only Eva's death will bring peace. Only her tortured screams will silence the rage that has been building for ten long years. Because what started that night at the sorority can never be stopped - not until the last victim has been marked for death.

I finished my Sherlock Holmes book while waiting for Dad at his dental appointment. Holmes and Watson did not have an easy time on this case. Moriarty somehow survived Reichenbach and came back and he shot both Holmes and Watson and their client killed Moriarty for them and took them to the hospital and Watson had a fever for two days, but he and Holmes were soon well and celebrated Christmas together.

I thought I was going to get into reading the new Grey Wolves series after that, but I got hooked into the witchling series as well. But letting you know it is good.

Sally, love the little mouse. Glad you enjoyed Autumn Storm. Hope you enjoy the third book just as much. Well, when you get to the Grey Wolves series book 7 you will be hooked and want to read it quickly.

I finished Death Dealer and Haunted by Heather Graham, I give them both 5 stars. Darla I knew you'd like those books by Mary Burton.

Sandi, Death Dealer is on its way to me from the library and I've read Haunted which I also gave 5 stars. Yes, the Mary Burton books are excellent. Thank you for loaning them to me.

I finished Senseless and it was fabulous. I give it 5 stars.

Next I'll be reading Merciless by Mary Burton. It features the sister of the main female from Senseless. The summary is ~

Each skeleton is flawless - gleaming white and perfectly preserved, a testament to his skill. Every scrap of flesh has been removed to reveal the glistening bone beneath. And the collection is growing. When bleached human bones are identified as belonging to a former patient of Dr. Dillon Dixon, Detective Malcolm Kier suspects the worst. Dixon was recently acquitted of attempted murder, thanks to defence attorney Angie Carlson. But as the body count rises, Kier is convinced that Angie is now the target of a brutal, brilliant psychopath. Angie is no stranger to the dark side of human nature. But nothing has prepared her for the decades-long legacy of madness and murder about to be revealed - or a killer ready to claim her as his ultimate trophy.

I've gone back to reading those books. Before he and Watson got shot, Holmes got attacked by someone related to the case and he hit his head on the mantelpiece and cut his head, too and he passed out for a while, then came to and hailed a cab to go back to Baker Street and was going to pay the cabbie and the cabbie wouldn't take Holmes's money because he had driven Holmes home for free and Watson took care of Holmes and put him to bed and the next morning, Lestrade wanted Holmes to come and look at the body of their client's friend, and Watson wouldn't allow it because of Holmes's concussion, but Holmes went anyway and Watson went with him. I'm reading Rendezvous At The Opera Popularie now. The Phantom Of The Opera is terrorizing the opera house and this is Holmes's last case because on his previous case, he got shot in the leg and it shattered the bone and messed up some muscle, but Holmes had some physical therapy and he is a little bit better, and a couple days after they got to Paris, Watson came down with a cold and had to sit out the first few days of the case until he was better.

Laura, sounds busy. Holmes sure had his share of bad luck. Enjoy Rendezvous at the Opera Popularie.

I'm still reading Merciless and it's very good so far. I'm waiting to see how the two main characters get together.

Happy reading everyone!

She has always had a magical side—a gift that finds its way into the glasswork she creates—and she struggles to keep it contained. But when Lucy is blindsided by the most bitter kind of betrayal, she questions many of her choices. Kevin leaves her and his new lover is none other than Lucy’s own sister.

Meanwhile, facing the severe disapproval of Lucy’s family, Kevin asks his friend Sam Nolan, a local vineyard owner on San Juan Island, to “romance” Lucy so that she can more easily move on. But when Sam and Lucy begin to feel real sparks between them, Lucy must ask herself if she can easily risk her heart again. Questions about love, loyalty, old patterns, mistakes, and new beginnings are explored as Lucy learns that some things in life—even after being broken—can be re-made into something beautiful. And that it is only by discovering who you really are that you can find the one who truly deserves you.

It sure is, Darla. One of the boys who witnessed the shooting had to be admitted to the hospital because he was suffering from post traumatic stress disorder and his behavior had regressed a little bit ( sucking his thumb mostly) and now his mother and brother are all settled in at his bedside in the hospital and he will be in the hospital for a while so he can recover and the doctor said that things are to be kept as normal as possible for him when he gets discharged.

Laura, too bad the boy has PTSD. That's a hard thing to get thru.

Today Autumn Whispers by Yasmine Galenorn comes out. It's part of her Other World series featuring 3 sisters. I've been reading and collecting the series from the beginning. I had pre-ordered mine at a special price of $4.59 and it comes today! Also being released today is The Night is Forever by Heather Graham. It is part of a trilogy I've got on my Kindle and the trilogy is part of a series about the Krewe of Hunters which is about a special team of psychic FBI agents.

I'm still reading Dream Lake ~ I'm about halfway thru it and it's very good so far.

I'm now reading Under a Spell by Hannah Jayne. It's fifth in a series about Sophie, ahuman impervious to magic who works at the Underworld Detection Agency {UDA}. UDA is akin to the driver's license bureau but it's for the beings of the underworlld ~ werewolves, vampires, ogres, angels, witches, etc. Here's the books in the series ~

Under Wraps

Under Attack

Under Suspicion

Under the Gun

Under a Spell

And here's the summary ~

Sophie Lawson was seriously hoping life at the UDA would get back to relative normal now that her boss Pete Sampson has been reinstated. Unfortunately, her new assignment is sending her undercover into a realm where even the most powerful paranormals fear to tread...her old high school. Being a human immune to magic is no defence against soulless picture-perfect mean girls - or a secret witch coven about to sacrifice a missing female student. And Sophie's Guardian, uber-proper Englishman Will, is determined to convince Sophie he's the kind of temptation she should indulge in permanently. Now as the clock ticks down to apocalypse, he and Sophie will have to summon every trick in the book to battle devilish illusion, lethal sorcery - and betrayals they'll never see coming.

Its about The Little Det. Agency ran by Bernie Little and his dog Chet, told from Chet point of view, they go to New Orleans looking for a missing person, where they encounter all kinds of strange people, a gator etc. Chet the Jet as he calls himself is awesome you have to laugh!

I sure did, Darla. Yes, it is. The jurors were hungry and not in a good mood because lunch took so long to arrive.

Sandi, sounds like it'd be a cute story. My library had it so I put it on hold.

Laura, glad you enjoyed it. Nothing like being hungry with no food in sight to put you in a bad mood!

I'm still reading Under a Spell. I'm about halfway thru it and it's going great.

Happy reading everyone!

Darla, You might want to read the first 5 books not that it matters but I like to read them in order. They are                Dog on it,  Thereby Hangs a Tail, To Fetch a Thief,  The Dog Who Knew Too Much, A Fistful Of Collars.

Sandi, oh, it's a series? I'll make note of them and read them later if my library has them all.

I finished reading Under a Spell and it was excellent. I give it 5 stars.

I'm now reading Fifth Grave Past the Light by Darynda Jones. It's fifth in a fun series about Charley Davidson who is the grim reaper meaning ghosts can pass through her to get to the next place they're going. The books in the series are ~

First Grave on the Right

Second Grave on the Left

Third Grave Dead Ahead

Fourth Grave Beneath my Feet

Fifth Grave Past the Light

And there's an e-book story, For I Have Sinned, to read between books 1 and 2 if you can get get it. I haven't read it and am missing nothing from the series. And the summary for this fifth book in the series is ~

Charley Davidson may not look like your everyday, run-of-the-mill grim reaper, but she has vowed to reap grimness wherever she goes despite this unfortunate fact. Sadly, she gets sidetracked when the sexy, sultry son of Satan, Reyes Farrow, moves in next door. Since he is her main suspect in an arson case, she has vowed to stay away from him until she can find out the truth. But when dead women start appearing in her apartment, one after another, each lost, confused, and terrified beyond reason, Charley has no choice but to ask for his help, especially when it becomes apparent that her own sister Gemma is the serial killer's next target. With Reyes's ability to observe incorporeally, surely he can find out who's responsible. Even if he can't, arsonist or not, he is the one man alive who could protect Gemma no matter who or what came at her. But he wants something in return. Charley. All of her, body and soul. And to keep her sister safe, it is a price she is willing to pay.

Yes, it does, Darla. I finished it today and have downloaded another John Grisham book called "The Chamber." I haven't started it yet, but will read some before bed and tell you tomorrow what has happened.

Hi Darla~ I'm still busy reading the third book of the witchling series. I really love how this author has put the stories together. So I am hooked on it. I'm pretty sure I will be wanting to get into the fourth one after this. I love the pics of the cats and the books. I have to say that this book thread is wonderful as it is so diverse with many interesting reads to share. So it gives us a choice in many categories of books to be interested in or may want to read. Kind of like a library of books here. Thank you Darla for starting this thread.
