To anyone else that might actually visit my thread.
I have six, Kenny, Wosie, Punkin, Mouse, Little Joe and Tiger, the newest I just brought in before the global cooling started! All are rescues over the years. And I have one very special dog who thinks he is a cat. Chewy is his name. He is a rescue also. We all live in a very secluded place with lots of room with trees and a creek. Also Black and White a stray/feral tom who has called this place home for some time. He has started his fifth year here. I've tried to capture him for neutering, but no luck. He has shelter and food and fresh water when he is here which is most of the time.
That is my family,
16 kittys: Tiggy, Sassy, Baby boy, Stinky, Pooka, Salem, snowy, ozzy, Bella, Footless, Tigris (road side kitten), Smokey, Lil Pid, Trixie, Kiki, Princess P. Fostering Ashes but told we could keep her when we move.
2 dogs: Vader a black lab, and Missy a terrier something or other.
1 foster dog black lab pitbull mix
All rescues or dump offs or abuse. 3 were adopted from spca's or organizations

O.O Wow sixteen kitties.
Nice Sugar D
Right now I have 4 kitties, Teddy, Maggie, Roxy and Alan, I also have 4 outdoor ferals that I care for Absha, Tab, Gris and Shy. I also have 2 Red Footed Tortoises named Easton and Zett and a Grey Tree Frog named Mr. Frog.
Shell, what will happen to Big Momma when you move?
I may have a home for big momma with an older man who lost his wife but loves kittys, back up of maybe a sanctuary. If not i will take her, i refuse to leave her here, and will not call animal control either. Maybe make a large pen for her down there inside the barn on the property, to keep her safe from the critters.
I am really glad to hear that Shell, I always wonder what I would do if we had to move. I have my 4 ferals and they are truly feral and do not allow me to touch them. We have rehomed many strays from my yard including my Roxy and Alan but the other 4 I do not believe can be tamed but I will keep trying. Right now I do not have plans to move so we are good. Glad that you may have a home for Big Momma.
We used to have 3 cats & a dog,but all have passed on apart from my 20 year old tortie,CB who is our baby now as the kids have left the nest
Though it is history, I still remember the days when I was in high-school! At one time, we had 4 mother-cats and 14 in total! I was the main caretaker!
All were related. The first set of 3 kids arrived with mother and just joined home and we were happy to kittens! In India, people just gift the kittens when the kittens are old enough! Mostly to take to control the number of rats and other natural threats (in a natural way)! Only these days, people really go to a certified seller etc mainly in urban areas!
Also I never heard of neutered/spayed cats until I heard it on internet. So almost all female cats became mothers.
We had a cat, who would have crossed 50 as its kids easily over its 15 year-span! I used to count the number easily for other mothers, but not for this main-cat! Because she was so independent, never allowed anyone of us to touch her! Many times she used to give birth outside the home (garden, roof-top shelter etc) and later used to come to home with her kids! At one time, she had 5! 4 of her own and 1 more addition (she picked it from outside - either abondoned or even kidnapped!)
Also I had seen extreme emotions from cats! Anger, jealousy, indifference and also unconditional love, affection and co-operation. Also sudden leaving of home and joining another home too! Cats showed me different angles of life in a quick and philosophical manner, much before humans showed me!
I could never make any cat obey my orders at will! Always their choice! I am yet to see a cat in any circus, though could see elephants, lions, tigers and many others meekly obeying the exact instructions!
Male cats would leave home once they attain certain age and become a kind of vagabonds and nuisance to us and other cats!
Also we never took any cat to any vet all those years. None of them would allow any of us to take them in any way! Many had miraculous cures themselves by eating special grass, vomitting and fasting! Some died suddenly, some due to stray dogs, some kitten due to attacks by vagabond male cats etc.
Also a suprising analysis from my side. Female cats, however friendly and affection-filled as kittens, become SERIOUS after becoming a mother! Though some were just waiting me to sit on a chair and just jump onto my lap and have a long nap, after motherhood, NEVER came to me on her own. I had to make a special effort to even touch her!
Only regret that I have is that I don't have a single snapshot of any of our cats as we didn't have any camera! Total would have easily crossed 100-120!
