Welcome! My Name Is Davey Jones December 25, 2008 7:56 PM

Welcome and let me introduce myself

My name is Davey Jones and I started life as part of a family. At first everything was great. I was warm and never hungry. My mommy took really good care of me and my siblings, but things soon changed.

Before my eyes were focused and I was four weeks old, the people took me and my litter mates in the car and dumped us in a really scary place. It was cold and wet and no matter how loud I cried, my mommy never came. I was so frightened. I had to find my mommy.

I started walking really fast, but I couldn't really see where I was going. It was dark and I walked until I ended up in a horse barn. I couldn't find any food and there was no one to help me. I curled up and took a nap. When it was light, I started crying, hoping that mommy would find me. Mommy never came, but a big man with a gruff voice picked me up and tried to put with the other barn cats.

I tried to snuggle up to the other cats, but they hissed, spat, and yelled at me. The big man tried to get me to drink something by putting my nose in a bucket. I couldn't breathe and I fought as hard as I could. I bit his hand. Another big person said that kittens probably didn't like skim milk. I can tell you that it didn't taste at all like milk.

The big man said that he knew where to take me. I was taken in a truck, but this time, I wasn't put in a box. This time the big man
held me. I tried nursing on his hand, but it didn't taste any better than the skim milk. Finally, we stopped and the big man got out of the truck and gave me to a smaller person with really gentle hands.

She looked at me and said, "You certainly are a tiny thing. Let's get you something to eat." It wasn't very much longer that I was eating out of a syringe until my tummy was full. The lady stimulated me, just like mommy did and I did my business. Then I was placed in a carrier with a big fluffy towel and allowed to take a nap.

I was warm and dry and full. Just as I was drifting off to sleep, I heard the lady talking to a Veterinarian to make an appointment for a new kitten named Daisy. It must not have been for me. My name is not Daisy.

Several times during the day and night I was fed and burped and stimulated. I was held and cuddled and loved. It felt nice to be here.

The next day, I went for another car ride. I was afraid that the lady was going to dump me. At least she fed me before we left. The trip was long. Suddenly, people were talking about how cute and tiny I was. There were lights and lots of noise. The lady held me and then another lady came in and held me and examined me. This was the Vet. She told my lady that the kitten could be tested and vaccinated at 9 weeks and neutered at 6 months. The lady said, "Neutered? It's a boy?" The Vet poked at me 'down there' and said, "Yes, It's a male, and on the light side of 4 weeks."
She was impressed that my stool was solid and I looked so healthy.

The lady looked at me and said, " Well, it looks like your name is Davey instead of Daisy." Then she laughed. We went back in the car and rode for a long time. We came back to the lady's house. She didn't dump me at all.

My lady's sister laughed really loud because I was a boy. I didn't understand what was so funny, but I was glad to get something to eat and take a nap.

After my nap, my lady picked me up and said."Well, Davey Jones, are you hungry?" I was and ate really well. I think that the lady will be a good mom. I think that I will like it here.
