"Mickey" is a 1982 hit US pop song recorded by female singer/choreographer Toni Basil. Written by Mike Chapman and Nicky Chinn as "Kitty" it was first recorded by UK pop group Racey in 1979. With her next album, Physical, Olivia Newton-John continued to rework her image, re-inventing herself as a sexy aerobics fanatic. The first single from the record, the suggestive "Physical," was a huge hit, spending ten weeks at number one during the fall and winter of 1981-1982. Physical spawned another Top Ten hit -- "Make a Move on Me" -- and be ... (more)

What a great trip down memory lane -  I love all of those songs and videos..  MTV was great when they had VJ's and actually played videos....  I know in the begining they played the same ones over and over and over - but today unless you are up at 3 in the morning you are not even going to see a video - which is why I like VH1-Classic.  Can still see the great videos on that channel..  I miss the old MTV....

Early MTV May 30, 2006 10:13 PM

Oh yeah, I remember when WTBS had Night Tracks, Friday nights  Starting at 8, they'd do the top ten of the week, then at ten or eleven, they'd go til three or so in the morning with the music vidoes.  Then MTV hit the scene.  I was hooked.  MTV needs to go back to that format.  The MTV minute, post ups of who was on tour, where, when, and everything having to do with MUSIC.  NOT Beavis and Butthead, NOT things that had NOTHING to do with MTV (isn't the M in MTV suppost to stand for MUSIC??)  After about 1984-85, MTV went downhill.  Bring back the 24/7 videos.  Let late night (from 11-3) be a genre of music; metal, rap, rock, one hit wonders, legends...No music movies (Purple Rain) No BS, just music, music news in the afternoon, this day in rock, who has an album (oops, CD) coming out, who has disbanded, etc.  This would be a 30 or even an 60 minute show Preferably 30.  With a 60 Sunday evening at dinnertime.  Previews of what is coming up...but alas, it won't happen.  Well, at least I have my memories of those days.  These kids today just would be blown away by our MTV.  [ send green star]

MTV flashback June 11, 2006 3:40 PM

the Fishhead song!!! Yes, I do remember it.  I used to sing it to my cat.  Don't ask.  I used to tease some of my friends here that when we were young, we'd have fish head stew for dinner every Sunday night, then invite them for an after Church supper.  Heh.  No-one ever accepted.  Instead, they'd invite me for okra, collards, fat back and such.  No, I have not accepted.

I don't think my eldest daughter has ever seen a vinyl record up close.  Or an 8 track.  TV with only a handful of channels?  No computers in the house...Boy were we ever deprived

BTW, how do you get those smilies in the posts?
