HOW ABOUT THESES?

Every rug is an individual, like its weaver. Many traditional weavers still depend upon their own resources. They raise the sheep, shear, wash, comb, and spin the wool. They then dye it as taught by their mothers using, in many cases, native plants.

In buying a weaving, consider if it is symmetrical with a nicely balanced overall design. However, the real reason should be if you fall in love with it and the colors are right.

I never forget a face, but names elude me! Yes, I remember since you struck me with the name. It is such a small world, At the time I met her and some others, I think she was wearing a doeskin skirt and had a necklace of a half-moon made of torquois stone, if I remember correctly. Ooosh it has been many moons ago...She introduced me to some others their....IT IS A SMALL WORLD..I DO BELIEVE IT WAS NEAR ATLANTA BACK IN THE LATE 70'S, EARLY 80'S OR THERE ABOUT. I remember her, because she was quiet, but really a nice person...Besides she was to drum that day...I never saw her again after that...Besides I always have this thing when one drums-to get to know them-Thank you little sister for that little bit of info....TomH

Got to thinking, the kids kites were colorful and they were playing nearer to the cabin, I think that is a road side showing curves ahead.  The road is very curvey.

It is a kite, it got stuck up there, the kids were playing before our gathering which is held at my cousin's house in WV.  He has 69 acres and half is for powwows and gatherings.  Here's another picture of Dancing Moon Woman, closer verison with Chief John.

That is my cousin, her name is Dancing Moon Woman.  She lives in West Virginia with our family and you may have seen her at powwows.  Her brother Wally and his wife, Pale Moon Woman, do drums at powwows and sometimes Dancing Moon Woman goes along with her husband Jim.  They are great, wonderful people and very very friendly.  I wouldn't be surprised if you had met Jim, he's very outgoing.

I thank you my honored brother for your contributions and the beauty of the paintings and pictures. I must apologize for not being on top things lately, as I have been down with nasty cold and touch of pneumonia these past two days, and the medicine  and herbs are healing me slowly, but they leave me very sleepy at times..Thank you once again.."May the eagle guide you in wisdom, strength, fore sight, and knowledge in your many journeys". PAC_SU_12.JPG The Elders say the Native American women will lead the healing among the tribes. We need to especially pray for our women, and ask the Creator to bless them and give them strength. Inside them are the powers of love and strength given by the Moon and the Earth. When everyone else gives up, it is the women who sings the songs of strength. She is the backbone of the people. So, to our women we say, sing your songs of strength; pray for your special powers; keep our people strong; be respectful, gentle and modest.

i STARTED WHEN i WAS 6 AND DROVE EVERYONE LOONEY, UNTIL i LEARNED THE TRIBAL DRUMS AND FLUTE..iT WAS DIFFERENT IN THE PERCUSSION SECTION WHEN i WAS IN SCHOOL....AT SCHOOL, i WAS A PERCUSSION SPECIALIST, AND COULD PLAY ALL PERCUSSION INSTRUMENTS INCLUDING, BELL LYRIA, KETTLE DRUMS,(CONCERT ) GONG, IF IT WAS PERCUSION i PLAYED IT....AND THERE WAS A BIG DIFFERENCE IN BOTH WAYS OF THE DRUM.....

Wado Tom, he does enjoy it.  He's only 10 and joined band this year at school so we'll see.  Problem is, my family is in West Virginia and I'm stuck here in Ohio so his drumming is limited so everytime we go to see family, that's what he bugs everyone about.... DRUMMING!!!    LOL

Hah little sister, do my eyes decieve me? or do I see a kinship and future follower of the drum after my own heart. You tell that young man to keep on his drums, and teach him well my  sister. Ahhh perchance my replacement in the circles soon huh? Ahh I remembe those days so well when I was so anxious to play the drums and flute at the many circles I attended so long ago...Oh what a surprise in small package huh? You know me well my sister....Now have him make a flute of his own, their is much magic in your instruments if taught well and has good spirit and willing to continue into his adult hood...Lol lol lol one who may follow in my own tracks sort of...Thank you for informing me of this...You are just full of surprises lol lol lol...WELCOME MY TINY BRAVE TO THE FUTURE CIRCLE.......

I took this photo inside the Cherokee Indian Museum here in North Carolina..It is a photo of life size wax figures depicting Cherokee Chiefs visiting England in the 1600's.. Please note Cheokees even back then could pass for white and this was when the first Europeans arrived..The English when they finally breached the Appalachian Mountains and visited Echota which was the capital of the Cherokees sent back a messenger to the coast where English settlements were being made with the following message " We have breached the mountains and on the other side we found the Lost Tribes Of Israel" It was said when the English explorers arrived at the entrance to Echota they were met by a fair skinned brown haired blue eyed Cherokee who told them to leave their weapons at the entrance.. John Ford and John Wayne were the ones who created the thoughts in everyones minds that all American Indians had red skin, black hair and dark eyes when in reality American Indians are a mixture of skin colors and some have light hair and blue eyes..
