A suggestion for this woman's grandchildren who are attending college is to contact the American Indian College Fund (303) 426-8900 or 1-800-776-3863. They are on the web. e-amil: scholarships@collegefund.org and/or info@collegefund.org. Maybe they are eligible to receive a scholarship. Regarding this woman receiving money from the government, I would recommend contacting your state government. They may have a Bureau of Indian Affairs or some similar department that may provide information. I don't know if these suggestions are viable, but I wanted to provide them as potential resources. Wishing you and her all the best.

I work with a woman who is 65 years old. My best friend is a Indian, so I was asking this 65 year old woman I work with if she receives any money from the US government because her father was a full blooded South Dakota Indian. She said she knew nothing about this. I know all Indians don't receive money, but I figured it might be worth it if her father was living in the early 1900's in South Dakota, to find out for her seeing as she has children & grandchildren who are now going to college with the help of her limited income.

02-20-2006 Searching for gr grandmothers heritage
All of my life I was told My gr grandmother was born on an Indian Reservation in Michigan. This was a Potawatomi Tribe. I have been tracing my roots for over 10 years. I cannot find any information on my gr grandmother anywhere. Her mame is Marchia Kathleen white, born 1889,in Marlette MI, daughter of Anesty and Alice White.I am wondering if it was my gr gr grandmother that my grandma was always speaking of. I have been told the records from the Indian Reservation were burned in a conflict with the white people. My grandmother was proud of her heritage as I am. I would like to find out how to trace back the Indian blood in my heritage. If you can help me please write.

02-16-2006 What Band of Pomo Indians do I belong to?
Hello!
I am trying to find out what band of Pomo Indians do I belong to. My great Uncle Andres Osorio was the last known Pomo Indian of Half Moon Bay. My dad (George Osorio) said we were from the coast (Pomo) but doesn't really know exactly where we ended up (rancheria). His family extends from Clear Lake, SF, Redwood City, Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz. He thinks we were with the Lytton Rancheria but then again we hear that we were part of the Clear Lake Bloody Sunday and migrated witht he Miwoks. I'm trying to research our family heritage and I could use some help.

Our Native American Brothers and Sisters are being treated unfairly by the Governor of Oklahoma, Governor Brad Henry. He says "Do not do business with Indians". Please call the Governor's office at 415-521-2343 in Oklahoma and protest his discriminating against Native Americans. Please tell all your friends and relatives to call also. All native Americans must band together to stop the mistreatment of our people by the Government. It has happened once before, let's not stand by and see it happen again. in the past 3yrs its been i`ve discovered,that i have native ancestory.(micmac, port-au-port area).i some how knew,growing up,that we were a family of lost souls!it finally makes sence.im proud too know i`m from a long list of micmac decendants. not to mention a family of 12 wich i grew up with!but too the point!!through 3yrs of goverment garble, i know no more now,than i did then!!i have a green card through the k.m.a(micmac alliance) of the port-au-port penninsula. but i also hear! i can pursue my hunting and fishing rights from here ,in nova scotia.do i have other rights that i`m unaware of.who do i talk too!! dazed and confused sean duffney

She was the daughter of a person named Jones & a 100% Cherokee born in 1805 in KY. It is unknown if the Jones was a man or woman. Elizabeth married William Scott in in Morgan Co., IN in 1823. My daughter Kristina, who is a 7th grader at Chavez Middle Shool in San Berardino,CA. Has recently intervewed and accepted to participate a member of the People to People Student Ambassador Program to Europe this Summer. The objective of this program is to promote international understanding while building leadership skills among America'syouth. The 20-day experience includes meeting with government officials, interaction activities, and other students my age, educational activities and home stays with host family.
I am currently seeking financial sponsors to help me with tuition, and hope I can count on your support. In case you haven't heard of People to People, please allow me to share some history with you. President Dwight D. Eisernhower founded the organization in 1956. He believed that if people from different cultures could come together in peace and friendship, so eventually would countries. Since its founding People to People haslaunched many international programs, including Sister Cities, Project HOPE, and Pen Pals.

LAME WOLF FEATHERS LONG LOST SON HAS BEEN FOUND!
tHANK YOU MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS!
One of the lost ones son that has been lost for 42 years was found through your help-Lame wolf was an Ojibway from Canada, who's son Jackie was found living in San Francisco he was helped by Jack "Red Cardinal" Myerson.an Apache who was living in San Francisco also-Jack said his grand son was reading the earlier list I had posted in my group-one of the first ones and copied out the old original one and his grandson Barry said: " he had worked with someone who was one of the adopted cases in Canada-his fellow worker (Jackie) had been about 10 at the time, when welfare had taken him and his two brothers and sister away from their parents* Fredrick (Jackie)Marshall had been searching many moons for his roots, but had trouble finding anything, due to a fire at the orphanage where he was taken and then was adopted out-Iam awaiting an update for next year when he reunites with his Father who is now 81 years old-Jackie said: "He still has a sister lost and 1 brother still lost, he wants to search out and find" to restablize the family once again-as one!" Thank you my brothers and sisters for help making this"Lost one" refind his home and family, as well as his roots...." WE ARE ONE, WE ARE MANY WHEN ALL BROTHERS AND SISTERS COME TOGETHER IN AN AJOINING GOUP TO HELP EACH OTHER, THE CALL OF HELP IS HEARD ROUND THE TRIBAL WORLD!" Let us hope we may find others as well , then all brothers and sisters know it has been a good day for all! The call has been sent out and hopefully our "lost ones" will be found.

Okay here is a confussing one. My grandmother was full blooded Dakota but she moved to Illinois from Oklahoma. That is all of my heritage I know. Can anyone tell me how to trace heritage with very little information?
