waking up July 16, 2005 11:10 PM

What is the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning? I quickly go and wash my face and grab my big oatmeal cookie because I am always waking up about 15 minutes before I have to leave for work. I,m not a morning person.  [ send green star]

I have a coffee!!!!!!!!! then sit quietly at the computer and drink it and all...... then, whatever I feel like but my coffee is a very essential part of waking up!  [ send green star]

anonymous  July 16, 2005 11:35 PM

First I stumble out of bed.  Then I turn on the computer. As its loading, I tend to the childrens needs.
That includes telling them NO when they ask if they can have icecream for breakfast.

Quench the thirst and the craving... July 17, 2005 12:49 AM

I tend to be an early riser - anywhere from 5.00am onwards - never later than 6.30...

It has to be coffee and a cigarette for me - both seem essential to survival and the starter motor to inspirational thought...

Mad maybe - but I guess it works for me...

Usually there is my cat kneading  on me to get up. I have a pre-set coffee maker, so the smell of coffee leads me out of bed. I hit the bathroom first, do the normal stuff, then I get me a coffee and feed the cat.  [ send green star]

Just lay the body down to recuperate from the ecstacy and bliss July 29, 2005 10:15 AM

When I wake up, it feels like no time at all has gone by which is good 'cause then I have less of a sense of having missed out on anything. First thought that goes through my mind is, "What kind of amazing miracules lie ahead of me today? How is God going to make things happen today?"  [ send green star]

Hey, isn't like just goig back to sleep by hitting the snooze button for 15 minutes?  I'm on to you...

First thing, turn on the computer, then go for coffee in my big puma slippers.  Check my daily schedule, and then it's shower time.

 August 28, 2005 1:03 AM

Hmmmmmmmm...I lie in bed and watch the sun rising and give "Thanks" for another day and to give me the strength to face it...

Then, I hit the snooze buttom as many times as I can and stress myself out, by rushing...Ha!  I'm trying to work on this problem!

I fix my glass of tea, sit up on my bathroom counter, with my feet in the sink and watch the news as I put on my make-up...

I hit the snooze button as often as I dare.  When I am finished hitting the snooze button, I call out to my cat Moxie.  He likes to say good morning to me.  We have this little ritual.  We play a little bit and he gets his attention and then I hang my feet over the side of the bed and greet my other cat, Chloe.  Then we walk into the hall where Mitzy waits, and I pet her, and then we all go downstairs.  I feed them and the feral cats outside, and then I get my OJ, take my vitamins, and sit at the computer a bit.  Coffee comes later when I get to work....or herbal...it depends on my mood.  [ send green star]

This article really woke me up:

What do the Statue of Liberty and WTC Towers have in common?

An architects' two cents worth:

The Statue of Liberty had to be repaired due to galvanic corrosion in air. Not what most think is possible but in ocean environments, very possible. Normally galvanic corrosion is only a factor in an electrolyte such as sea water and the stern drive on the boat - having steel and aluminum components - erodes, turns brittle and snap - it fails - if electrolytic grounding plates are not installed.

"""The galvanic reaction between iron and copper was originally mitigated by insulating copper from the iron framework using an asbestos cloth soaked in shellac. However, the integrity and sealing property of this improvised insulator broke down over the many years of exposure to high levels of humidity normal in a marine environment. The insulating barrier became a sponge that kept the salted water present as a conductive electrolyte, forming a crude electrochemical cell as and Volta had discovered a century earlier."""

In 1989 - there were plans to erect scaffolding and disassemble the WTC towers and rebuild them. Cost projection was around $5.6 billion. One of the architects shows up to work one day and the MIB's were there - had confiscated all of the plans, specs, details, etc for WTC. They even confiscated their office cubicles and had tape on the floor outlining where they went.

Reason - the exterior cast aluminum WTC panels had been directly connected to the steel superstructure of the building, thus causing galvanic corrosion. In short, the "life cycle" of the WTC was not 200 - 300 years, more like 30 years or so.

The exterior skin of the building - in being aluminum and connected directly to the super structure - was making the building weaker every day.

That could explain why there appears to be explosives set only about every 25 floors. Once the failure started, the brittleness of welds, rivets, bolts, etc would fail much easier as the loads became progressively greater on the way down.

That same process would also explain why the concrete was "powderized" over time because electrolytic processes weaken concrete too by "debonding" the Portland that causes concrete to bond in the first place. However, bear in mind that the "concrete floors" were not load bearing reinforced concrete. They were supported by what was a weakening by the day superstructure and cross members.

There was a 1989 meeting and the folks at the architectural firm [Emory Roth, the project architect that took over after the design architects completed the conceptual drawings] that had their office, records, plans and specs seized - were told that the $5.6 billion "take it down, rebuild it" project was cancelled and in about "10-12 years" they would "blow it up and start over". Consider that - and consider that NYC and the US Govt could not stand the global embarrassment of being so stupid or negligent that they did not consider the effects of galvanic corrosion on the superstructure. That is structural design 101 in architectural school and why they want architects to take physics and chemistry for Christ's sake. I did.

I am an architect by the way, quit practicing in 1988.

Guess what?

The fat lady HAS SUNG. You know, the one in New York Harbor with the torch of Liberty and Freedom held high.

I want to find the sick bastard that thought it would be a cute idea to have close to 3,000 in the building and use that as an excuse to go take on a whole new energy policy, war policy, and lining the pockets of just certain people.

I think a Statute of Liberty hanging for that person would be most appropriate.

I hit the bathroom first, then pop my medications for diabetes, stumble out to the coffee pot and pour a stiff one. Make my way over to the computer and check the obituaries to see if I'm in them. If I'm not I either shower or have breakfast.

On Sundays I make breakfast for my wife and have it ready by the time she comes in from church.

A routine say The Great Invocation November 03, 2007 5:14 AM

My rioutine is just before going to bed and when I woke up I say thre great invocation

THE GREAT INVOCATION
From the point of Light within the Mind of God
Let light stream forth into the minds of men.
Let Light descend on Earth.

From the point of Love within the Heart of God
Let love stream forth into the hearts of men.
May Christ return to Earth.

From the centre where the Will of God is known
Let purpose guide the little wills of men,
The purpose which the Masters know and serve.

From the centre which we call the race of men
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.

Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.

that way saying the great invocation i think i help the planet

but I´m spanish and logically I say The great invocation in spanish i say

LA GRAN INVOCACIÓN.
Desde el punto de Luz en la Mente de Dios,
Que afluya Luz a las mentes de los hombres;
Que la Luz descienda a la Tierra.

Desde el punto de Amor en el Corazón de Dios,
Que afluya Amor a los corazones de los hombres;
Que Cristo retorne a la Tierra.

Desde el centro donde la Voluntad de Dios es conocida,
Que el propósito guíe a las pequeñas voluntades de los hombres;
El propósito que los Maestros conocen y sirven.

Desde el centro que llamamos la raza de los hombres,
Que se realice el Plan de Amor y de Luz;
Y selle la puerta donde se halla el mal.

Que la Luz, el Amor y el Poder, restablezcan el Plan en la Tierra.
