Happy New Year! October 03, 2005 9:38 AM

L'Shana Tova A New Year's prayer for you

Dear Lord:

May we get a clean bill of health from our dentist, our psychiatrist,  our opthalmologist, our cardiologist, our gastroenterologist, our  urologist, our proctologist, our gynecologist, our podiatrist, our plumber and the  IRS.

May our hair, our teeth, our facelift, our abs, our honey cakes, and  our stocks not fall and may our blood pressure, our triglycerides, our cholesterol, our white bood count, our weight and our mortgage interest rates not rise.

May we find a way to travel from anywhere to anywhere in the rush hour  in less than an hour and when we get there, may we find a parking space.

May we all relax about the third millennium of the common era, and  realize that we still have 239 years until the dawn of the sixth millennium of  the Hebrew calendar by which time the computer will be long since obsolete  and so will we.

May we be awe-struck by G-d's sense of humor as we realize that he  really does not want us to touch our toes while exercising or he would have  put them further up our bodies; and, the reason so many of us take up  jogging is to hear heavy breathing again.

May what we see in the mirror delight us and what others see in us, delight them. May someone, as well as G-d, love us enough to forgive our faults, be blind to our blemishes and tell the world about our virtues.

May the telemarketers wait until after we finish dinner to call us.

May our checkbooks and budgets balance and may they include generous amounts for charity.

May we remember to say "I love you" at least once a day to our spouse,  our child, our parent, all of our significant others but not our boss, our intern, our nurse, our masseur, our hairdresser or our tennis  instructor.

And may the Messiah come this year, and if he does not, may we live as if he has, in a world at peace, with awareness of G-d's love in every sunset, flower, baby's smile, lover's kiss, and every wonderful astonishing  beat of our heart.

May we smile and laugh throughout the year.

First Resolution September 11, 2005 9:45 AM

Our friend in Europe has been offered a job teaching English to kindergarteners in Istanbul. She is very excited and relieved. Thanks for your prayers! God Bless AGW  [ send green star]

Aaron September 07, 2005 7:56 PM

I'd like to come into agreement now with you that your friend with your cancer will be healed by God's healing hands.  May he send warring angels to surround him and to make his body whole.

I pray for your friend in Europe that she may find a job that God will direct her to.  God's will be done, not ours.Amen.

Please Add Your Prayers September 07, 2005 6:23 PM

I just found out that a friend of a friend has lung cancer that has matasticized into two brain tumors. Needless to say, the prognosis is not good, but all things are possible and miracles can happen. Please pray for healing. Another friend of a friend has been stranded in Europe looking for a job. She was supposed to teach English in Poland and the job fell through at the last moment. She is hoping to find another job somewhere in Europe, hopefully teaching. Please pray for a positive resolution. Peace & Love AGW PS I'm sure I do not have to remind you all to continue praying for the victims of our most recent national disaster, Hurricane Katrina. Please pray for rescue, healing, reunion, and renewal.  [ send green star]

I need a couple more prayers August 31, 2005 7:55 PM

My husband is going next week to Austin to take his Master's Plumbing Exams.  He's taken them once and passed but he allowed his license to expire and he must retest.  He hasn't been able to find time to really look over any material for this test, so I ask for God's guidance and his will be done.

My second prayer request is for our two daughters.  They are in 2 different foster homes and are being moved around a lot.  Can we just pray that they may come home to our family soon if it God's will?  Thanks everyone.

Heavenly Father, I pray for those who have been deeply affected by this hurricane.  I pray for those who lost their lives and to those who have lost their homes.  I pray they may look upon this and be able to move forward.  I pray for the animals that have been lost, died or hurt from this also.  May your will always be done.  In the name of Jesus I pray.  Amen.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Why haven't we heard about this before? August 03, 2005 7:29 PM

Rest assured Misty will be in our prayers. URGENT ALERT I just learned about this. This has been going on for MONTHS!!! The government of Zimbabwe is raizing "illegal" housing. It has left hundreds of thousands of people without homes in Operation Murambatsvina/"Clean Out Garbage." Please pray for these poor homeless people who have been devastated by the country that should be helping them. There are many, many articles on this. Here's one: http://www.africafocus.org/docs05/zim0507.php The Homelessness Group has a long digest of topics on this: http://www.care2.com/c2c/group/Homelessness Despite a devastatingly critical report by UN-HABITAT Director Anna Tibaijuka, the government of Zimbabwe is continuing its drive to destroy "illegal" housing and shops that is estimated to have made at least 700,000 people homeless in the last two months. Zimbabweans, rejecting the government's term Operation Murambatsvina ("Clean Out Garbage") compare the assault on the country's poor to a "tsunami."  [ send green star]

World Uniting In Prayer Tomorrow August 02, 2005 9:44 AM

What Serendipity! I have just started this group to help people come together to pray and there is a World Prayer Happening Tomorrow!

WORLD UNITING TOMORROW IN PRAYER

Tomorrow at EXACTLY 2 pm EST, there will be a gathering at Jerusalem's Western Wall to beseech the Divine for mercy and protection by reciting the "Shema". The one-line prayer is the central to accepting upon oneself the sovereignty of the Creator. The verse (Deuteronomy 6:4) is: "Hear, Israel, the L-rd our G-d, the L-rd is One." (In Hebrew: Shema Yisroel, Adonoi Elohainu, Adonoi Echod).

Please join us.

God Bless!

Pray for This! July 27, 2005 7:43 PM

I would like to begin collecting thoughts, people, communities, etc. for which anyone would like to pray or join others in prayer. It is important when we pray or meditate that our thoughts are not negative, i.e. " I wish the Sudanese genocide in Darfur would stop." Instead, we can think: "Let the violent men and/or women of Darfur come to their senses and learn new ways to solve their differences." On this note I would like to begin a prayer chain for the people of Darfur. I will begin this prayer when I wake for my morning prayer/meditation. Please feel free to join me and/or suggest other prayers... There's room for everyone!!!  [ send green star]
