Hare Krishna Hare Krishna
Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama
Rama Rama Hare Hare
Translation
"Oh Lord Krishna, Oh energy of the Lord, please engage me in Your devotional service." (This is a simple call to the Lord and His energies. It should be chanted exactly like a small child crying for it's mother. The transcendental sound vibration of this mantra is the essence of all the Vedas and non-different from Lord Krishna personally. In the temples, this mantra is sung during some portion of almost all kirtanas.)

4 Three Rivers Hare Krishna (15:11)
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare
Calling from deep in the heart, from where the eyes can't see and the ears can't hear, from where the mountain trails end and only love can go...
In India, one of the most holy pilgrimage places is in Allahabad, called Prayag or the Sangam. This is the spot of the Maha Kumbha Mela which is held every twelve years. It is where the three sacred rivers meet: the Ganges, the Yamuna and the Saraswati, which is an invisible river that flows from Heaven and comes up from underground. It is where the light waters of the Ganga and dark waters of the Yamuna embrace and millions of pilgrims come to have their sins washed away. While we were in Pittsburgh doing some recording for this CD, I was totally taken by the beauty of the city. All the old polluting steel mills have been closed and the sun was shining gold and bright on the green hills that rise above both sides of the two rivers that flow through there; the Allegheny and the Monongahela, which meet and form the Ohio river. That's why they call the Stadium where the Steelers and Pirates play, "Three Rivers Stadium". But as we were driving around town, Jim Donovan told me that there was another hidden river that ran under Pittsburgh. It blew me away and I realized that we been brought to Pittsburgh to receive the blessings of the Sangam of America!!!

Dragging up an old thread here...why not?
You can't say it enough!!!!!!
Anyway, the first post here says it should be chanted "exactly like a small child cying for it's mother" But I find myself, unconciously, chanting in all manner of ways....including singing when I feel sooooo full of love!
So...does it really matter HOW you chant?
chant from the heart. let the words taste sweet in your mouth. Let the sound ring as eternal music to your ears. let the chant bring you the vision of Krishna appearance. Write/type His name, let your eyes smile. Let your rememberings echo with His name. Sing to Him. Sing of Him. Turn your senses toward His will, your happiness will be remembered.
Chant with love.
Hare Krishna

Holly, thank you! Sometimes I feel an overwhelming intensity which is almost....well, indescribable actually...like the sweetness of tears and something tugging at my insides???? Other times a complete ecstacy which makes me chant in a singing voice so loud even the larks can hear it!! And also sometimes in a quiet and very peaceful way, almost like a whisper.
I have no taste for the name.
Sarvo...que???
"O my Lord,
Your holy name alone can render all
benediction to living beings, and thus You
have hundreds and millions of names, like
Krsna and Govinda. In these transcendental
names You have invested all Your
transcendental energies. There are not even
hard and fast rules for chanting these names.
O my Lord, out of kindness You enable us to
easily approach You by Your holy names, but I
am so unfortunate that I have no attraction
for them."
Well, it is now 11.43 and I am still buzzing with The Tune...no...a thing like a star in the middle of my head, a channel, a connection a strange sensation in my head, a light, a glowing disc, like the size of a silver coin..........anyways, you will all think I'm crazy! So I will to my bed!
OMG... Lynn, you're amazing, that's all. You're just fantastic and amazing. I think I'm falling in love with you.

THE MANTRA" SHREE KRISHNA SHARNAM: MAM: " IS EASTA YOUG.
It's truly amazing. If that experience happens to you again and again, think yourself to be truly blessed. May be ur on the way to perceive the Divine Inner Light which opens up the doors to His Kingdom, though a lot of journey is still left. Nonetheless, it's the most significant initial experience for a spiritual seeker, of course if it's a real one.
Wishing u all the best!

My dear Sarvo,
Here's one of the stories about Chaitanya Mahaprabhu I've lifted from my yahoo blogs (http://blog.360.yahoo.com/praveshksingh)...
Do Not Run After Petty Worldly Craving for Fame! -Entry for March 18, 2008Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu those days was known by his earlier name “Nimai”. He was 16 years old. Having completed his education in Grammar, he had been making a keen study of ‘NyayaShastra/ Nyaayashaastra’ (jurisprudence) and been authoring a book on the subject. At the same time his classmate Pandit Shri Raghunath ji was also busy writing a book titled “Didhiti” on nyaaya which eventually turned out to be a renowned reference on nyaayashaastra.
Incidentally, Shri Raghunath ji came to know that Nimai, too, was writing a book on the same subject. He expressed his desire to have a look at the book. The next day Nimai brought his book along and while both were crossing a river in a boat on their way to school, Nimai started reciting from his book. Raghunat Pandit became grief-stricken to listen to its contents. Tears began to roll down his cheeks. When in the midst of his reading Nimai raised his head to have a look at his friend, he saw Raghunath crying. Quite taken aback Nimai asked Raghunath, “What is the matter? What makes you weep?” Raghunath replied innocently, “I had been attempting to write a book on jurisprudence in the fervent hope that it would be regarded as the best and the most authentic source of reference, but my hope stands demolished now. Who would care to read my book after going through this magnificent book of yours?”
“Oh, come on! Is this very petty thought causing you so much of anguish?” Nimai burst into laughter like an innocent kid, “This must be an extremely bad book which caused so much of agony to such a dear friend of mine!” And before Raghunath could understand anything, Nimai had tossed his book into the river. Its pages had scattered and were flying afloat the waves of the holy river Ganga. Raghunath got speechless and was about to fall at the feet of Nimai, but Nimai’s lifted him up with his broad limbs and embraced him with a caress soaked in love…
Thank you Lynn, for being just how you are...if that's crazy, then I wanna be your kind of crazy too...
It says in the first post, amoung many other places, that The "transcendental sound vibration of this mantra is the essence of all the Vedas and non-different from Lord Krishna personally"
to me this is saying that Lord Krishna is so joyful, and giving, loving, and desiring of us to completely surrender. I feel such release, and surrender in chanting, I love the way the sounds vibrate in my throat, and through out my entire being. I am the child crying out...and I feel, for maybe the first time, the true warmth of loving arms willingly embracing my truest heart, leading me to a fuller awareness of just what love is.
So...if this is crazy...baby, I'll take it!![]()
Love, Genna

You just gave my heart such hope. Thank you.
Thank you Sarvo....just a shame I wasted 30 precious years allowing myself to be influenced by a husband and then a partner who clearly didn't have my best interests at heart! Anyway, feel like I'm getting back on track now.
I was born into an atheistic family and for many years was completely convinced by that approach to knowledge. I made every mistake in the book and suffered like anything. Now, however, having been there myself, I'm in a really good position to lend a helping hand to someone who is on that kind of a perilous and very negative path. Whatever difficulties we've had to face and overcome in our lives can only make us that much more valuable to others who may be going through similar changes.
Lynn, you didn't waste anything. You were learning amazing and remarkable lessons that make you a very valuable and effective purveyor of spiritual truth.
CC Madhya 9.31: "As far as the holy names of Rāma and Kṛṣṇa are concerned, they are on an equal level, but for further advancement we receive some specific information from the revealed scriptures. CC Madhya 9.32: "[Lord Śiva addressed his wife, Durgā:] 'O Varānanā, 'I chant the holy name of Rāma, Rāma, Rāma and thus enjoy this beautiful sound. This holy name of Rāmacandra is equal to one thousand holy names of Lord Viṣṇu.' CC Madhya 9.33: "'The pious results derived from chanting the thousand holy names of Viṣṇu three times can be attained by only one utterance of the holy name of Kṛṣṇa.'
Sarvo.......................can you please post one of your lovely maha mantra graphics here. We need to get everyone chanting again.

Just in case anyone forgot......this is what this group is about:
What does it mean to be a Hare Krishna? What can I do to end suffering in this world? How do I revive my God Consciousness? Does chanting really help? How can I become a human being instead of a human doing?
Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna, Krishna, Hare, Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama, Rama, Hare, Hare.
gee its about time
hare krsna
hare krishna
i am looking forward to join u all on this holy path
