Description
We are constructing an 800 acre Non-Profit Eco Lodge just North of Managua. The lodge has a River and Lake front with views of the mountains past the valley. Horse back riding and hiking trails are being developed through the property. Each trail is "themed" with History or Natural information. One main lodge building and 12 smaller bungalows that are of open design. Each with it's own fruit trees and private surroundings. The Lodge is of an Eco mind set, using environmental philosophy. All inclusive with Food, Beverages, Tours and Fishing. The trails and land area are being redeveloped to support local wild life. Each of those with camping shelters with grills etc… There will be no Hunting except with a Camera however, we will offer fishing in the River and Lake. Monkeys, Fish, and over 250 types of Bird are in this area.
Profits of this project will go to helping support three public schools in the area. At a later date construction of 80 low income homes will also take place. Our charity (CINDURMA) is registered with the Nicaragua Government in Managua. Copy of my certification is posted in the Group "Files" area. If you are not interested in donating to this project please look at some others in the Country - there are many !
If you or your group are interested in working with this project please feel free to contact me (Glenn Seavers in USA glenn_seavers@yahoo.com) for more information and free DVD. We need: Workers to come build, people interested in developing the area schools, Financial contributions.

The daughter of a Peruvian diplomat, Midori de Habich was born in Japan and also lived in Denmark, India, and Russia as a child. What was it, then, that drew her to the field of health care reform?
She credits Peru's Universidad Católica, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in economics, with fostering her interest in social issues.
"Unlike some other universities in Peru, the Department of Economics and Social Studies at the Universidad Catolica leaned toward the public sector," she recalls. Upon graduation she was quickly hired by Peru's Central Bank for a position in its Department of Social Sector Studies, where she continued exploring the overlap between economics and social policy.
Habich left Peru briefly in 1987 to get her masters degree in economic policy and planning at the Institute of Social Studies, The Hague. When she returned to the Central Bank, she was transferred to a different section, this time analyzing macroeconomic trends and indicators.
"After three years things became pretty routine," she says, "and I missed the social component in what I was doing."
Unexpectedly, in 1995 Peru's Ministry of Health invited her to participate in USAID's Project 2000, a bilateral project between the United States and Peru to improve mother and child care in 12 Peruvian departments. Her career in health care reform was launched.
"My work at the Bank had been more conceptual," she explains. "We made large-scale recommendations, but we never got involved in their implementation." She welcomed the opportunity to take a more active role in effecting social change and to actually see the results, however tentative, of her efforts.
Habich, who admits that she relishes a challenge, had her work cut out for her.
"There are few economists in Peru who specialize in health care," she says. For her, however, it is an intriguing area. She finds that the classic model for the functioning of economic markets simply does not work in the health care sector.
"The balance between supply and demand is skewed since both sides are not equally informed," she says. "When it comes to medical issues, the patient never knows as much as the doctor."
Given this imbalance, Habich believes that much needs to be done with regard to regulation, and that the role of the state — what it should and should not do — is very important. The contribution of economists, as well as others such as anthropologists and sociologists, is also crucial.
"Traditionally, in Peru as in other countries, health care has been left up to the doctors," she says. "Only recently has there been a more integrated approach."
While Habich finds her work in health care reform demanding, she also finds it very stimulating.
"We are always looking at new things in different ways," she says, "and no two days are alike." She also seems to enjoy combining her technical know-how with the political savvy it takes to implement social reforms.
"Decision makers must come up with their own solutions," she observes. "The process works best when specialists don't actually give politicians the answer, but when they help them to find it on their own. Without this sense of ownership, any reforms will be unsustainable."
Not all technical advisors are such skilled facilitators, however. The process is complex, says Habich, and requires patience and self-confidence.
"An advisor needs to lower his own profile in order to be effective," she adds, "and to control his ego."
It sounds like something she may have learned years ago in her travels as the daughter of a diplomat.
"The health priorities are not defined by politicians who come and go, or by officials who change with each presidential administration. They come from the people themselves, and the people will be watching to see if their mandates are carried out."

Paola, I work for BHP- Billiton, an Australian mining company( the worlds biggest diversified miner) and they have copper mines in Peru. How are they seen by the local people??? friendly or otherwise!!! ??
the community, is very annoying, with these mines in their towns, by many things, in those towns the people do not feel contented, also the mines count on a tributary stability that she is not right for these towns, much deb to that the government accepts east type of things, also, the environmental impact has caused environmental changes in these towns, the people have denounced these types of disasters, but BHP counts on being able económico(power economic). They are paying for this news dont be public but, here in Peru, this already has been public. I can give you sites links, but they are in spanish, and i will open a thread, where we talk about the minery in Peru, if this give benefitis or not for the people and also about the all disasters of the enviroment and health.
In another ocuntries, they ask for a study of the enviroment..lamentably, here in Peru, people who is in Politics,,just care fo their pocket...bolsillo...status..money..so they accept all of this...But paeople in comunities..are stand up their voices
