Kind Paola's Actions to End Poverty November 28, 2005 9:03 PM
Hola everyone
I am writing this to encourage Paola to write about what she has been doing to reduce and help end poverty. She has told me a lot, but she is so modest that she has not written much at all on Care2 about what she has done and what she plans to do
(This is also to encourage and inspire YOU to do things; and if you have done things already, this is also to encourage you to write about what you have done, so we can learn from you, too )
Thanks Paola for your compassion! Thankyou for what you have been doing Please tell us about it
I s part of my life that i dont like to talk...anyway... I started a group with my friends ,,we were just 5 ..and we did in 2000 and 2001 some good actions...how is ask for clothers in houses and give to the poor people.... also we were in the companyes asking for food, they gave to us their products...for example milk...rice....sugar...sometimes also they gave to us their clothes who they didnt use anymore and still was useful for other people.
Now...we are 16 people..and i want we be more....all this year the gorup didnt do nothing..and also in 2003 and 2004 -...maybe cuz people was working so hard..with hard moments in the life and Peru....
We has planned to go in december...to one town called LA EPSERANZA (who live many peopel who is very poor)in my city..and we will give to child clothes and food...also we will be in one school and we will give to the childrens(just one class)cuz we doesnt have enough money.... we will give ot them..chocolates..milk...and Paneton...bread with fruit
And now you know i alwasy like to talk with childrens who work in the street cleaning cars, sometime sis difficult ..cuz they are hcildrens who doesnt have education...and this is really sad...they work cuz hey doesnt have food.So...im emocionated...and maybe is for that you started this thread...lol..but is cuz i started to teach to one child in my house..and i felt so good with this...You know Simon ...my dreams is my ONG...and we want to teach to more childrens....so SImon thna you ..too..cuz you will help me to do that
Simon's right... You are truly wonderful and should talk about all that you're doing because it can inspire us to try and do better whenever we forget to spare time for the poorer people around us!!!!
CHRISTINA..you have this bright lights in your heart dear!!you are such and sweet person and friend..and i know you also have desires to help as me to the women in thi sworl
Thank You Mariannie i know also you help people you can to talk about this here

what do you mean by "save this things in 7 keys "?
Paola, I know you have done a lot to reduce and end poverty - please tell us more about what you have done, what you are doing, and what you will do? I think that you can show people how one normal person can do alot You may give ideas to people about what they can do - things that they did not think of before... And maybe you will inspire us and make us more confident to do things that we never did! As you inspired me
thank you Richard, im sure any person can do this..if really want to do it, and i can see you have great heart for this too
Simon, 7 keys-..i mean, i think that when you do sometihng for someone or for something good to other people, just has to do it and doesnt care if another people knows if you did or not.
BUT...you told me is necessary people know about the things that we do about end poverty , help people , that is our pledge if we want a equal and paceful world
I think we can encourage to people to do this..is easy..you all can help in different ways... for example tlaking to other people who their life is just tot hink in spend the money in trivial things...well..maybe sounds hard...maybe exist people very nice but they just spend their money in this when they can to help to this people who doesnt have food or clothes, and are diying for that.
Antoehr thing that we can do is give to the people our things that we doesnt use , and we have saved in our bedroom and they need that.
Also we can be more solidary people... giving a lunch a child whop doesnt have enough money for buy their food...Here in Peru exist many of them..and is sad to see that.
Well... and now...some of my firends to know that im teaching to a kid, who i met when i saw him cleaning the cars in the street..he called Robertito. he has 8 years... and is very nice boy,, his mother work selling vegetables in a public market, and well he doesnt know who is his father...he clean cars , i felt so sad to see,,and robertito is one example of many childrens who work in the street..not jus tin the street cleaning cars..also you can find asking for money , and also you can find to them in some climg looking at the trash for to see if they find sometihng that they can eat or sell....
Im teaching to him to read and write,.is not easy to me , but i think i will help to much to him to learn to defend in this life that has many types of competitions, and things that each day weare discovering.
SO here is that SImon wanted me to say to all the members..maybe you can help to someone who is next to you?? and if in your country doesnt exist childrens working in the street, maybe you can help to change theminds of this people who still donest find this grateful action for this honorable cause
Or maybe also you all can do as Simon do each month, send a money,, the money that you can give , exist many organisations that will be so happy with your cooperation!!!
I would like Simon tell to you all, how he started with this pledge in his life, and the things that he did.ANd you all also can post here, the acitons,,, for example,,send petitions also is great action!!! we value all of this
I too, am indeed very glad to have you as friends; in you two - I see humanity as it was meant to be: caring, kind and full of mercy.
Paola: just continue telling us all that you have been doing; by telling us - you inspire and encourage. And you make many of us happy by the care and happiness you give to others.
However small the things you do seem to look to you - they are huge; you are giving care, joy and love and that is truly GREAT for me.
Iam glad to read what you are doing December 13, 2005 8:06 AM
I wish your group will increase and this initiative will spread out. It might ease the immediate pain. Of course, the system must also change, that's a harder part.
We can change the world! : ) January 26, 2006 3:06 PM
Hola everyone
Paolita, you asked me to say what I have been doing for the benefit of humanity and all life on Earth. I am sorry I that did not respond until now.... Anyway, I have written below some of the things that I have been doing (I will write later about more things that I have been doing for the cause) -
(What I say below is not to brag, but to show what we are all capable of, so that maybe you who read this will also try some of these ideas.) I don't just talk the talk, I walk the walk. Literally. I walk (and once or twice a month take a bus) and I never go in a car unless it is an emergency. A live quite frugally. I watch movies when they come onto TV instead of spending money at the cinemas. I borrow books and videos and DVDs and CDs from the library or friends instead of buying them. I wear second hand clothes, or clothes that promote causes that end oppression, end poverty and save our environment.
I bought this computer second hand and I will give it away this year to a community centre in the poorest country in Asia, East Timor.
I do other things to save money too - e.g. I make cards by hand or send e-cards, instead of spending $5 on a card for someone.
And what do I do with the money that I save this way? I save it to go to Japan to teach English (and live simply again) to get money to travel in Latin America, etc., as a journalist writing reports to support Third World movements.
And I save it to give to causes, for ending poverty. E.g. of my $800 per month income, I give $20 per month to Oxfam Community Aid Abroad and $15 per month to the Wilderness Society. I gave $570 last year to fund the poor people's newspaper of the PRD (People's Democratic Party - a political party in Indonesia whose policies I support, and which I have followed closely and met the leaders of, convincing me of their integrity). I gave $100 to a similar left-wing party in Guatemala, and $200 to one in El Salvador, plus $300 to AIPWA - the All India Progressive Women's Association for their publication - so it will reach more poor women. From what I have seen, all of these groups promote the interests of women, workers, peasants and poor people generally, and when they get into power, they will do like the revolutionary government in Venezuela: providing free health care and making programs to end illiteracy, and educating the nation further, increasing equality and prosperity, redistributing land from rich people to poor people, supporting workers' rights and so on, reducing and eventually ending poverty.
Oh yeah, plus I lent $300 to a friend in Ecuador for her recent semester at university, because her vindictive father wouldn't pay for her any more (because she saw him cheating on her mother with another woman, and she told her mother).
And I also gave over $300 to my honey, Paola (in Peru), so she can pay for lunches for 5 poor children for many months, to encourage them to learn to read and write from her, because they are too poor to go to school, and if they learn from Paola, then they are not working - so the food is compensation for not working during lessons. We got this idea from the similar programs that are run by the revolutionary government in Venezuela. (Paola is already teaching and giving lunches to a poor 8 year old boy called Robertito, who washes cars for a living... so after she gets my cheque, which I just sent, she will increase the class size to 6: 2 more boys and 3 more girls - friends of Robertito.)
As I said above, I will write more later. In the meantime, I wish to clarify: I believe that I can do much, much, much more than I have done so far. And what is more, I intend to! I intend to develop myself such that I am achieving huge things for our world! I believe that anyone can become a Nelson Mandela, a Mother Jones, a Mother Teresa, a Simon Bolivar, an Emma Goldman, a Malcolm X, a Martin Luther King, Jr., a Susan Sarandon, a Michael Moore, a Naomi Klein, a Noam Chomsky, a Che or a Gandhi or a Buddha - I mean me and I mean you -you, my friend, you who are reading this!
You are awesome my dear Si you helped me in many ways, and this proyect about help this kids is still so important to me please remember that..and thank you for everything that you did for me i know people doesnt know all that you help not just with money, with actions too... and not just poor people if not people who needed before of your help in different ways..you know what i mean... you are an angel not just for our people who have less resources than us if not to me too..and you know why. .
Im moving to Lima for a new job but the proyect of the ONG or Gno is still very important.and i will do in 5 months.
