Okay, if no one is going to post, this group will be disbanded. I have tried everything to keep it going, even though I have been having computer problems. I tried to get someone to co-host during my computer issues and no one wanted the job, but I just cannot keep it going by myself. Should you decide to stay a member of this group, please start posting and tell us about your favorite British Comedies and episodes or even the actor. But please, no vulgar language or putting down a comedy that you personally don't like. There are a few BritComs I don't like, but others do, so I respect their views...who knows maybe someone can find something about a particular show that I don't like and try to convince me why the show they like, even if it's one I don't particularly like, is so good and why I should watch it...on the other hand, I can try to convince someone why I think they should check out a particular comedy that I really like and see if I can get them interested in watching a particular show...
I really need you guys to keep posting or I will disband the group...I thought this was a good idea because there are more British Comedies than Monty Python or Fawlty Towers! Invite your friends and family members to join this group. I would like to see this group grow, but if it doesn't get the response I am looking for by the end of January 2006, this group will be disbanded

Thank you, Fred, for posting! I just wish I could watch more of the British Comedies than I do! I only get 2 here--"Keeping Up Appearances"--one of my favorites, and "As Time Goes By"--one I don't particularly watch. The British Comedies are a heck of a lot better than the American ones on TV lately! I get to see a few others when I visit my family in Delaware, but not that many! I can see more if I were to get digital cable or satellite--neither of which I want nor can afford anyway!

Hi, December 29, 2005 5:10 PM
I didn't really watch Brit comdies per say until my husband and I got together. Now anywhere I can get my hands on Red Dwarf, and the other one Craig Charles does where he's a boss in an office, I'll rent them.

Not that I can post much either at the moment, but I'll stop by at least twice...maybe three times a week?
I've actually not watched too much British Comedy. Although I do love watching ABFAB when it comes on and if I can catch it....I can never seem to catch it unless they do a marathon.

PS....Is it possible to turn on the text and smilies?

Okay, I just played around until I could figure out how to do the text and smilies! I wondered why I didn't get this when I started the group! Now I've fixed it. I will also ask that when you post that you use no less than the 4 pt. font and bold it--my eyes aren't what they used to be!
Yes, Benny Hill was a British Comedy. Okay here's a bit of trivia for you: did you know that Benny Hill appeared in the movie "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang"? It wasn't a big part, but he was the toymaker.
Welcome to all the new members of the group! I have my computer working now, so I will be in here more often. So keep the posts coming!
Welll "Fawlty Towers" you might - about a manic hotel owner in Torquay. "Only Fools and Horses" - classic stuff about two brothers and a grandfather - working class Cockneys living on the fly on an estate in Peckham. Little Britain is new, really sick and twisted humor and League of Gentlemen also a sort of dramedy but quite weird sinister and funny.
I don't know where folks live but I would recommend getting BBC America if you don't have or going to the BBC website - a lot of these are on DVD or VHS now. Good luck!
Fawlty Towers! I LOVE "Fawlty Towers"! John Cleese cracks me up! My other favorites include "Monty Python", "Keeping Up Appearances" (which is on right now, but I am watching another PBS station that is showing Lawrence Welk), "Are You Being Served?", "Are You Being Served, Again?", "Waiting For God", "Good Neighbors", "Take A Letter, Mr. Jones", and I think that's it.

hi Rebecca,
if you like "Fawlty Towers", "Keeping up Appearances" and "Waiting for God", then you will definitely enjoy "One Foot in the Grave"
i will post a separate thread on this show later on.

Just thought of something! January 12, 2006 11:02 AM
I was watching something last night on VH-1 (I Love the 80's 3D), and the show mentioned "Mr. Bean"....I realized that two shows with Rowan Atkinson no one mentioned were "Mr. Bean" and "The Thin Blue Line"....I liked "The Thin Blue Line", but "Mr. Bean" was okay....My dad likes him in "Blackadder's Christmas"....anyone like these shows too?
