Thanks for this group!
I had one Eskie, Leandrah, who I rescued... and then... it was all over!
I got a book about my baby, and learned a lot abuot the breed, I was in love!
I found someone who had a miniature Eskie, Leah is a Standard. We got them together, and had some pups because I wanted one of her babies!
I felt bad later on, and vowed to rescue the next one I get, because I learned there were many needing homes!
How on earth could anyone have a beautiful Eskie and not want to keep Him or her?
Now, My Leah is going to be 13 in January, and her pup, Shinowah, is turning 7, on May 5th.
I love my babies, and I don't think I'll have anything but Eskies from now on!
I have a few pics in here..

HI Valerie!!
Welcome to American Eskimo Dog Rescue. We are always glad to see new Eskie owners here. Your babies are beautiful!!
I really want to use this group to raise awareness of Breed Specific Rescue. Yes...we only take one kind of dog...but we are also aleviating the over population at Shelters and saving more animal lives. People should look to shelters and breed specific rescues before going to breeders. Well off my soap box now. ![]()
Welcome to the group!!

The next time I get a dog, I'm going to do that, try to rescue one! AND it will be an Eskie, too!

Hello ![]()
I saw this group and just had to join. My name is Jess and my Eskies is Mitsie. She was a rescue dog, I got her 5 years ago, she was found locked in a barn in January, which in Ottawa, Canada averages about minus 20 degrees C.
Since then she has become a huge part of my life and spoiled me for other breeds. They are so intelegent and have such wonderful personalities that I wish I could have more. 'sigh' Appartments. ![]()
I am so glad that there are organisations that are devoted to caring for them.
to the group!!!
Two more Eskie Owners. Woo Hoo

Panda came into our lives when she was 3 yrs old - an older woman owned her and a Collie, and had difficulty keeping up with 2 dogs. She decided to get rid of Panda, and keep the Collie, who she's had for about 8 years or so.
She was going to get Panda put to sleep, but my father's friend, who rescues dogs and finds home for them, heard about her and took her in. One month later, when I was visiting my parents, he stopped in and mentioned the dogs he was currently looking after. I've always wanted an Eskie, so my husband picked her up the next day. She's been with us ever since!
What a beautiful picture of Bear bear, I am so glad you rescued him!
He IS an American Eskimo Dog, they are actually members of the Spitz family, like akitas, pomeranians, Samoyed and a few others.
There is also a Japanese Spitz, which I think is an Eskie... really.

My hubby was given a tiny just born puppy that still had it umbilical cord attached.A woman had found it in her driveway just before living for work. She said she hadbeen trying to care of it but did not have enough time to take care of him properly. So my hubby brought him to me. (ofcourse)He was very tiny. At first I thought he was a kitten. I gave him to my son. He was to raise him himself. He did and the puppy grew into a dog .We were very attached to him.One day he bolted out the back door and into a passing car.It was devistating. It hasbeen 5 years since that day.It still hurts and I can't bring myself to embrace another one.He was very special and no other will ever be able to fill the void.
She never has ran out like that again.
Here is her full grown pup, shinowah.
Shinowah was just recently nabbed in the eye, deep in the cornea, by a cat's claw, and we are trying to get this healed, without a lot of luck, now, for 2 weeks. Any advice will be welcomed!
Hi my name is Kelly. I got my first rescue American Eskimo in 1992. Since then I have adopted two more and two other mix breeds.
I am a big fan of Heart Bandits. That's where I got my second two.
Once you own one, there's really no other breed for you!!
This is C.C. my current American Eskimo. I like to call her Princess Pork! LOL

This is Ricky, my first. The love of my life. He passed away at 14 in 1994.
