Washington, 25 nov (PL) the United States executed to a person every 10 days during last the three decades, and maintains today to three thousand 400 prisoners in the running call of the death, according to indicated institutional means.

Ever since the moratorium of capital punishment in 1976 rose, the 58 percent of the executed ones in this country was individual of white race, while a 34 percent was black, needed Death Penalty Information Centre (DPIC).

One recent survey of Gallup agency reflected that the 64 percent of the American public defends the capital sentence, the level more under endorsement in the last 27 years. A previous search of 1994 projected a support of the 80 percent.

In agreement with analysts, years back the debate on the supreme sanction was centered in his was worth like dissuasive being of the crime, while today many are asked if in fact it is possible to trust that the government will not kill by error an innocent.

We have a judicial system that commits errors. If you accept that proposal, must be prepared for the eventuality of which some will be sentenced by other people's crimes, Thomas Hill commented, outstanding defense counsel of Ohio.

After an exhaustive investigation that included more than one decade, American experts the past concluded Tuesday that the state of Texas would have executed to the man mistaken in 1993.

One is the case of the Hispanic Ruben Cantu, processed by homicide to the 17 years of age and executed although there was no material evidence that tied it with the crime.

In agreement with the newspaper Houston Chronicle, another person accused and the only witness of the crime, soon retractó and was declared that Cantu was innocent.

Single recently the public prosecutor, the president of the jury and the defense counsel recognized that the process of Cantu "seems to have founded on omissions and lies".

By its side, the State of California confirmed for coming December the execution of the Stanley prisoner Williams, a name afroestadounidense five times for the Nobel prize of La Paz.

The Supreme Court of the United States it failed against the last appeal of Williams, sentenced in 1981 to the capital punishment and who assumes founded the Crips gang, in Los Angeles.

The maximum North American court declined to review the case of "Tookie" Williams, who waits in the corridor of the death of the jail of San Quintín by the murder of a worker of a warehouse.

Stanley Williams was postulated several times to receive the Nobel prize of La Paz, like prize by its work in the state prison, from where it has collaborated substantially to diminish the violence of the youthful gangs.

Of not receiving the mercy of governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Williams, of 51 years of age, could be executed next the 13 of December, remembered average news reports.

He is something truely sad, an one step back of justice, said Stephen Rohde, lawyer in constitutional laws. The Court the door to Williams has closed him. That means a systematic exclusion for the color people, emphasized.

In the United States they are the 33 departments that established the Maxima pain, but the majority does not apply it regularly. To single three states (Texas, Virginia and Oklahoma) it corresponds more than half of the thousand deaths in 30 years.

Many of those executed are innocent. It is a shame that this type of thing is aloud to continue. If they were absolutly certain in the eyes of many it may be acceptable but as for myself it isn't. There are to many factors that lead to the innocent being put to death. That doesn't sit well with me. Even in my country it was found that many who hade been convicted of crimes were latter found to be innocent. No Justice system in the world is perfect. There will always be innocent people put behind bars for crimes they did not commit. That is reality.  If one innocent person is put to death that is one too many.

even if a person is guilty the death penalty is wrong. murder is murder is murder. by putting a person to death we are just as guilty of murder as an individual.   [ send green star]  [ accepted]
