Support Marriage Equality for ALL! February 07, 2008 10:11 AM

From coast to coast, we are coming closer to achieving true marriage equality for GLBT Americans. But we need your help to fight efforts to deny marriage rights to same-sex couples, including any Constitutional amendment. Please, sign the Million For Marriage petition below, and be a part of this historic civil rights battle. Gay, straight, married, single...we need everyone who believes in marriage equality to stand up NOW.

Legislated discrimination should never be tolerated in a true democracy. Please read, note and sign.

Marriage Equality; February 09, 2008 11:39 AM

Actually, I think/hope that we're somewhere in the middle on this. We had good news in New York this past week, The courts upheld the requirement that New :York honor ALL legal marriages, and afford such couples all the rights guaranteed by the state in which they were married. It's a major step forward, but we need to actively embrace all that the decision entails in order to solidify jouar aright. I believe tat as we solidiy each step forward that we make, it makes continued forward progress more certain. I personally enjoy pointing out to opponents of marriage equality just how much that position costs in terms of real dollars. My partner is currently eligible for federal cash benefits under the SSI program, as well as coverage for all services under Medicaid. Since the government refused to honor our commitment, they cannot then legally REQURE me to provide for her financially. I'll bet if more committed couples took advantage of this, we could put the new-cons into the interesting position of having to financially support our commitments to each other.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

I am so proud that, although Northern Ireland has always been considered wayward, we conducted our first same sex marriage here several months ago. Now if the world would follow ....... I myself was ordained into the interfaith ministry so that i could perform ceremonies for same sex couples and my pagan friends. I live in an area where the church reigns supreme and would never tolerate it - but now they don't have much of a choice!

Women April 23, 2008 3:07 PM

I am a Lesbian and a Dyke.  This is my Radical Lesbian Feminist opinion about marriage.

Women are not and never have been treated equally under the marriage contract.  We can be beaten, raped, tortured and systematically brainwashed by the man who owns us.  He can kill us and dispose of the body any way he choses.  He can prostitute us against our will and it is all what we agreed to because we signed this nasty agreement.  The agreement that a woman signs does not say any of this.  But it is all legal.

If you want freedom for everyone under marriage, you need to free women, even Lesbians who got stuck into this.

Cheryl

Support my petition against Constitutional Amendment Anti-LG Marriage July 01, 2008 9:37 PM

Even if you don't agree with mariage I hope you agree that lesbians and gay men should have the constitional right to marry if they choose.  Senator David Vitter of New Orleans Madam fame has introduced a constitutional amendment which could pass and clog up the process and legislatures for years to the detriment of the multplicity of the people's needs.  Please sign my petition against this amendment ASAP.  The Reds are desparate and in a hurry.  I am Judy Miller.

Debate on Same-Gender Marriage on WHYY (NPR) July 07, 2009 8:18 AM

I welcome all of you to listen to perhaps one of the greatest debates regarding same-gender marriage.  It occurred in my home state in Philadelphia on WHYY (NPR)

http://www.whyy.org/podcast/061909_100630.mp3

Please circulate this among friends and family.  State Senator Daylin Leach presents very solid arguments why we should repeal DOMA, revise the institution of marriage, and erase all the historical institutionalized discrimination which has plagued LGBT Americans in Pennsylvania and by extension this nation.
