Hi Sue,
Diving at the Red Sea would e amazing! I've only been diving in West of Scotland..the waters aren't that clear and it's pretty cold.
There are alot of diving sites in Scotland of ship wrecks which attract alot of marine life. Loch Striven is such am interesting dive, though many divers have been lost there because they are wuite dangerous waters - you wouldn't think initially think it was. I haven't been diving there but I have snorlkelled regularly there.
The Corryvreckon, off the Sound of Jura in the Western Isles is also a famous dive for scientific studies. There is a whirlpool there but again constant changing tide races make it a divign site to take extra care.
I am no way a confident diver and was unable to finsih my trainig due to fianances, but one day I hope to start again and go diving in some of these wonderful, marine rich places around the world.
we will probably be going to sharam as it is the cheaapest and easyest destination for us but we are travelling independently so where would you recommend
Which place at the Red Sea you are going to dive at? that I can give you a full information about it..
Visibility of red Sea during Nov is about 20m up to 25m Water Temprture is about 20 up to 22c Most of the Diving Clubs there are proffissionals.. but hope you will tell me which City you are looking for that I can give you some of the Diving Clubs that would help good
hi guys, thinking of heading out to do some diving in the red sea and was wondering about conditions in nov, best place to be based and any recommendations for dive companys
The water temp was 80* F on the surface, 74*F at the bottom. The max depth we went to was 22 feet. They say there is a spot in the quarry that is 30 foot, but no one in my group had ever found it
Visibility was about 5-10 feet. It wasn't the best dive conditions, but I really enjoyed it! I don't live near the Ocean unfortunately, so any water I can get that is realitively clean is good for me. I've always loved swimming, and diving is just like swimming, only I don't have to surface to breathe!

Well my last dive wasn't someplace tropical and exciting, but I got to go dive. I dove at the Twin Quarries in Ohio. There were a lot of people there certifying (I was one of them) and they kicked up a lot of silt from the bottom, but it was still great! There were plenty of Bluegill and Bass to play with, and lots of seaweed. Also plenty of freshwater jellyfish! I thought that was pretty cool....especially since they don't sting.
I had a great time! 4 dives in 2 days...wonderful way to spend the weekend in my opinion!

You must come to Mexico, here are a lot of beautiful places to dive and very natural, its Cozumel one of the biggest reef, near is isla mujeres and here is the cave of the sleeping sharks, and in Yucatan in Holbox Island you can Dive with the whale shark between the months of arpil and september, and this island its natural there are no roads all is sand, in one side is the lagoon with flamengos, turttles, crocodriles, etc, dolphins, the bird island.
You will enjoy it, hope to go there soon, you will be welcome here in México, and its very cheap you can have room for 40 to 100 dollars and in Mazunte a beach in Oaxaca you can have a room for 15 dolars is natural and if you like to meet a lot of people thats the place, theres the turttle museum.
Some of my friends was inviting me to dive in Mexico, maybe one day I will.. Cayman island is my new diving destation .. just I will ask my body for the good time to do it

Well i havent dive but i snorkeled, my last site where i snorkeled was Veracruz and i stayed one night in a desert island waiting for the arrive of turttles, i didn´t saw none but i saw their nests and believe me that was such an incredible experience to see the darkness of the night, the stars, and the noise of the see complete alone with my friends.
The beach in Veracruz Anton Lizard its a beautiful beach where there are no waves and you can walk for 500 mts and the water in your shoulder, there are a lot of coral reefs and sunked ships where you can go and dive.
And let me tell you that in the aquarium they have 3 tiger sharks, really beautiful its a little bit sad because i would prefer to see them free, but finally i saw my favorite animal.
Well hope you have a nice diving in the Cayman Island hope someday i will visit the islands too.
There is some great diving to be found at the wall, and reef of Cayman Brac and in the Bloody Bay area. If you don't mind crowds of people in the water, and out of the water, this is nice place to dive. Very beautiful!!!
I much prefered Grand Cayman, on the East End, There are some wonderful diving spots on the East End. I liked these dives better because there were not large crowds in the water, or on the beaches. I stayed at Morritt's Tortuga Club and Resort on Grand Cayman, the East End, and had a glorious time in the water and out.
Thanks for joining our group.. and I am very glad that you like it.. also thanks for visiting my scuba diving album.. hope soon you will start make some underwater bubbles like most of the divers
Hi Jeanluc! More info for Mohammad January 24, 2005 2:16 AM
Hi Jeanluc,
What's the diving like in South France?
Mohammad, I checked the diving sites in Cayman with some friends there. Apparently the hurricane didn't do too much damage to the sites so the diving should still be top class there.
my last dive was in the south west France ,in the gascogne gulf, in november and i wait my next dive probably in march with 12°c woooooh the tropical water falt me...
I will try and check the state of the diving sites after the hurricane for you.
No I still use the old fashioned method for my logs. I have a Stinger computer so if I bought the software and connection I could download them but I'm happy enough with my book
Anyway I will shortly stop logging them on paper I think. While I'm instructing I always forget to fill them and then weeks later I can't remember the details
Thanks.. but still thursity .. No I dont look for a job there.. already I am a Managing Director of Travel Agency.. I belive I can get some good hotel rates.. but for sure.. to be there it will be at least 2 weeks.. I will prefare to get an appartment.. do u post ur logs on the net Jon? if so, where can I find it? thanks for your post
The weather in Cayman is great all year round. In fact the 'worse' time is probably Jan-March when you 'might' need a 3mm full wetsuit or shorty but even at this time of year it is still 27-28 degrees in the water!
My favourite sites were Orange Canyon and Trinity Caves but really there are hundreds of fist class dive sites especially if you like soft coral and smaller fish.
Are you just looking for a vacation?
Because it is very difficult to find work unless you are an instructor there simply because there are so many instructors. However as Cayman is still re-building maybe the situation has changed now?
The big problem with Cayman is cost. It is a very expensive island for everything but especially accomodation. I would try to do a lot of research about finding some cheap alternative because if you have to pay for a hotel you will cry at the cost!
For sure dear.. hope you can post a full information about it.. I am doing now my dive master as well.. but in Aqaba and the Instracture will be at Sharm El-Shaike (only the Exam). I will be happy to have this information, which is the best time to do a vacation during the year??
kiwi & king Abdullah Reef January 18, 2005 5:41 AM
My last Dives was at Aqaba City on the Red sea, first dive was at Kiwi reef.. it is so great reef with Marine life and alot of lion fish's and many kinds of morays.. king Abdullah reef is famouse with the big Corals every where and the entrance to the diving site is like zig zac on the depth of 8M.. My dives was from the shore and only in King Abdullah reef where I do face current problem. I was out without any air. Already I post some pictures in my albums
It's over 6 months late but if you still want some info on Cayman I'm more than happy to help. I was there last Jan-March for 2 months doing my DM and Instructor's. So I logged over 90 dives there over that period. Cayman obviously was badly hit by Hurricane Ivan and I don't know how much the diving sites were damaged by that.
Overall I would say that Cayman has some of the best diving I have experienced, visibility is out of this world (only challenged in my opinion by Cozumel), sometimes 50m+ The only downside is you don't see many big fish apart from Tarpon. It is very rare to see a shark. However some of my favourite ever diving is from there.
We stayed at the Three Corners Empire, which was good since it wasn't as huge as other hotels and rather close to downtown Hurghada. Food was good and friendly people. We dived with Easy Divers Red Sea, located at Amal Village (Three Corners Beach Resort) and Grand Azur.

My last Dive was 10 days ago at Sharm Elshaik, it was so great dive and really I enjoyed the Draft dive more than anything else.. my new dive will start next Sunday also in the Red Sea, but this time in my country Jordan at Aqaba City I will do the wreck dive as well.

Mine was here at the Mediterranean, just in front of Alicante, Spain. It was a sad experience, because that part is so polluted that barelly we saw mullets, crabs and seaweed. Some day the oceans will give us the paycheck!
