Hi everyone! I just joined this group 2 days ago, and the reason is almost the same to Marina.
I got my certificte in 1999 from CMAS. I took diving lesson in order to be able to do my research for my paper about coral reef in Seribu Island, Jakarta, Indonesia. The further diving site I had was in Batangas, Philippines, when got stipend from the Earthwatch.
My dving experience almost for work, but I always had a chance to do fun dive though.
Hi! I'm a new diver, too! My husband and I got PADI certifed for our wedding/honeymoon in Hawaii - that was in 2003 and we can't wait to go again. Right now we are saving $ for adoption, so diving is on hold temporarily - but we still talk about it all the time! It's such an amazing thing! My biggest fear is jumping or rolling off the boat - but as soon as my face is in the water I relax and enjoy the scenery. Sigh! We are hoping to go diving in Bonaire or Belize next.

from what I understand, is that the kung capacity is much greater than we think. YEARS ago, my brother used to be a diving instructor, and he had something similar happen-and had to put that knoweldge/theory to work. As scared as he was-he discovered it is true....our lungs can almost always have room to exhale-even when we think it can't, and that it's fear that is our worst enemy. I had to remember that lesson once when snorkeling-I went a little deeper than I guess I thought!! :>) But I kept exhaling my deep inner breath as I surfaced....and was actually ok-it was the fear I had to control moreso than the breathing. But it was awesome.

First thing we learn in Scuba Diving, Never stop breathing, if you follow this u will never face any probelms in the lung, even if you are run out of Air and need to go out of water u should go out with an (ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh) that the air go out from ur lung
[send green star]
The bends...., exploding lung..... UGH!!!! I had one chance to dive, but at the time had bronchial pneumonia-so was not allowed. This was in West Palm Beach, Fl. I am simply someone who at this point is just a snorkler(for lack of money and training)living in St. Augustine, Florida. I am hoping to do some snorkeling down in the Florida Keys in Sept...
I want to learn much here-I have ALWAYS been connected with the water since I was a baby, and will be till the day I die.
Thank you for this group, and all your experiences.

My fear was always that I will run out of air and my buddy will be away and that I have to go out from the water fast, what is yours?

Welcome Marina, not only to this discussion board but also to the world wide community of scuba divers. So, hang with us and one day we are bound to meet in 60 feet (20 m) of ocean water, with perfect bouancy.
Peut-être un jour vous viendrez sur un de mes voyages.
Safe diving.

hello Marina,
let me tell you that I got many dives, but still each time I want to jump in the water I got the same fears as u do.. it is normal thing coz we are guests underwater, my best dive was in Sharm Elshaik Ras Mohamad, I was going inside small cave, it was very crouded with the divers lol, also at Sharm & Hurgada, u can take a full map which is water proof, and u can follow what u will see in the map, at Aqaba dives (red sea too) I enjoy the Kiwi site and the wreck, it is great places to visit..

Hi, I joined this group by curiosity, maybe find some divers community.
It seems that a lot of you already have a strong experience in diving.
I did dive twice in feeric seas (west indies and red sea), now I passed my first level in France. It is also known as level 1 in CMAS... I don't know how you would call it.
It means I can dive with a experienced one, level 4 I think, and go max to 20 m deep.
I enjoy it even if sometimes I'm still a little scared before going under the surface.
I hope we will find nice discussion topic.
I know in Porquerolles, France, they have created a touristic diving track. I mean there is a thread you can foloow under the sea, with numbers. And when you go dovong you are given a book that goes underwater on wich is written what is to see at each checkpoint.
I find it interesting for beginners...
Do you know of other places where there is such a thing?
Marina
