Save Iraqi Children September 25, 2005 7:49 AM Children in Iraq suffer from leukemia and infant cancer by radioactivity included in "Depleted uranium munitions" used in the Gulf War in 1991 and this war by US millitary Though 80% recovers from that now usual,a lot of children are dying one after another in Iraq because serious medicine shortage continues by long period of economic sanction and destruction in current this war. The sanction was extended to the inporting imformation of medicine imformation to Iraqi children's doctor.Even alchol for disinfection was not allowed by US and UN. Before that,Iraqi medicine was the highest level in the Middle East.But after the sunction,doctors can use only 13 years before medical technic. So 1million5hundred thousand children were died by the economic sunction by US and UN for 13 years. US goevernment admit this is from DU. Please appeal this and save Iraqi children. Yes,many British and American soldiers died as a result of using DU. I had looked so terrible photoes of deformed children and they were borned so much in Iraq. Deseased US soldiers can't have any proper medicine.Doctor say just "I can't do.Because i have never seen such symptom." Because US don't admit this is from DU and incinerated enormous records of their health. WHO have not done medical support for Iraqi children.(WHO,UN is sensitive to USA) Because of that people all over the world don't hear about DU. So only Iraqi people have to prove this is from DU.But from economic sunction,there is no money at all.They can't buy even instruments to peove,and the reserch takes long time because the incubation is from 5years to 60years. But it is clear that from 1989 to 1998,the percentage of leukemia and infant cancer is 2 time. Before that,cotton,injection,bed,Incubator,etc...all basic medical instruments are extremely shortage. Iraqi docter said "We use instead of cubeoxygen mask,cube for industry.Because of shortage of incubator,babys were died.Incubater is by nature for save life but here,incubater became to be a dead box." I want to tell you many imformation.I will tell you. I'm belong to NGO which is nedical support for Iraqi children.But they are Japanese NGO. And I introduce you to sites.But I can't find foreign sites treat mainly Iraqi victims and medical care.But there are some sites about DU and for abolish DU. Very, very sad photographs of Iraqi children born with birth defects October 04, 2005 5:41 PM In Seattle {where I live}, a group of artists is causing controversy by putting out posters showing the REAL "face of War"; INCLUDING photographs of the maimed and the dead of BOTH sides, and, yes, one of their subjects has been the children born with birth defects due to DU poisoning. They put out a new poster about every week; with up-dated casualty figures of the dead on BOTH sides, as far as they are able to get them. Some of their posters are grisly and hard to look at; some, on the other hand, have classic simple designs of flag-draped coffins or white crosses. They are INTENDED to be down-loaded and used as a means of consiousness-raising, by any individual {or group} anywhere. So, I thot it would be appropriate for this group to know about this. Some may want to follow the suggestion; on another group, {Seattle the Underbelly}, some Care2 members have done so, and posted these in their own neighborhoods! The posters can be seen and downloaded, at http://replacementsneeded.tripod.com "Replacements Needed" is the name of the website as well as the ironic comment on each and every poster. They have been posted in many parts of the world. Several of them show Iraqi children; but, I think only one so far shows the birth defects; just scroll down until you find it {about number 14; when the body count of American dead had risen to 1103}. From The Daily Collegian, student newspaper of Seattle Central Community College {Part of an article} .......... Thomas Hays and his friends took their protest to the streets, broadcasting the body count and raw images of war in posters. That was April 2004. Since then every week, Hays and his friends update the number, print 1,100 posters, mix a bucket of wheat paste, and head out, plastering Capitol Hill with their message. “The idea came from reading about the Vietnam War and how people started to turn against it after seeing the body count,” said Hays, a Seattle Central student. “We wanted a way to remind people here about how many soldiers and Iraqis are dying over there.” They’ve gotten more savvy over the past year. The group started a website where people can download and print the posters. They email the posters to friends, who in turn email them to their friends. That email chain has sent them all over the world. “It blows my mind when I hear from people in Berkley, Egypt or South America who say they are putting up the posters every week and ask me to keep them coming,” said Hays. In fact, they’ll soon be showcased at an exhibit in Belgium. Hays’ posters so impressed local artist Selma Waldman that later this year she is using them in an art show at The Hague, site of the International Criminal Court and so many other world organizations that it is known as the “city of peace and justice.” The blunt imagery of the posters riles. Usually the photos are graphic, some showing mangled or charred bodies not seen in the US media. “People have come up to me and said that it’s done in poor taste,” Hays said. “But if the poster is in poor taste, how can they not think that the war is in poor taste?”............... “Whatever problems people have with it, the important thing is that we’re not letting them forget what’s happening over there,” Hays said. “If you don’t bring attention to it, no one will know what’s going on.” [ send green star]

I didn't realize that not only are Iraqi children dying from bullets and bombs, but disease as part of the WAR initiated by Bushco. I am sickened by the pictures I saw of babies from neighboring Afghanistan. I don't understand how Americans (all of us) can look at those pictures and go on w/life as usual. I feel haunted and I don't know what to do except tell people to VOTE to get NEOCONS out of office - I feel helpless as a citizen of this country which I don't recognize anymore. Although 9/11 I'm sure is also based on lies like everything else Bushco does, I am even more concerned about the WAR that goes on and on and that our government has been hijacked right from under the People of America - it has become something twisted that we have no real control over. I want Bush impeached and I want the government back under the other party's control - yes, I know they are not much better, but they are some better than what we have now - we have to do something....what can we do for these children - and their parents - the grieving parents.....We must do something for the children who are living through this horror - it's no wonder if they grow up to hate us while American public sits over here watching Desparate Housewives and worrying about the lotto, next year's vacation to Europe and the latest fall fashions....ugh!
