Walk for Wolves October 26, 2005 8:37 AM

Hei everyone!

I'm so pleased and thankful that this group has been started, and I'm eager to hear your voices about how we can help wolves and other animals around the world as well as share what wisdom I may have.

For those of you who would like to get involved in Walk for Wolves, I would like to invite you all to also to join our forum at http://forum.walkforwildlife.org/

We will be sharing important scientific, folkloric, and environmental resources pertaining to wolves, and getting everything together to make Walk for Wolves a great success which we hope will reach literally millions of people across the globe.  This is a great opportunity to re-educate the public that wolves are not villains, but a vital part of this Earth's life force and cannot be destroyed.

Thank you and Peace!

anonymous Hi Kimberly October 26, 2005 9:55 AM

Thank you for joining us here.

I think through our concentrated efforts we will indeed have the ability to make positive change in many areas.

I Would also like for everyone to feel free to join any of our other groups which may be of interest to you, remembering that we are all part of a circle which is related in every way. Just as habitat is related to wildlife so are oceans and clean water.

Thus the interconnecting and inter sharing of ideas can bring an expansive ability to develop practices which will improve and focus our efforts as well as make new allies.

With Respect to all.

Hi kimberely,

I will do some contacting here in Arizona with PAWS and some wolf sanctuaries to see if they would be interested in Joining us. I will also contact all of my Arizona contacts by email to invite them to join.

Just a few things I need though...

Is there a date?

What about posters/signs/flyers?

Newsletters, emails?

We could draw up some petitions and take them with us for the public to sign.

Any details would be helpful

Thank you

some info November 01, 2005 5:42 PM

Hi Cindy!

I noticed your pins today and I was so thrilled to see them! Thank you so much - your support is great. For others who want more information or wish to get involved as an event host, please sign up on the main forum which is at http://forum.walkforwildlife.org

There we will be joining together as a team to help plan and execute this campaign to its successful completion! There is a forum set up specifically for Hosts (aka event coordinators). These are the folks who will be having a Walk for Wolves in their local area. We will be able to mash ideas and create everything we need to make it work. Input is welcome from all.

To sum up again, Walk for Wolves is going to be a multi-national event in which people can host an event in their local area on the same day as all of us. This will give international attention to the plight of wolves everywhere, and give local activists a chance to speak to the public about their local area wolf situation. On the outset, it looks like a hefty task to organize, and believe me I have spent many a day feeling a little overwhelmed. But I have come to see it for how beautifully simple it really can be. All we really need are the wonderful people (Like you all!) who really want to make a difference for the wolf to get in step with us and it will be amazing.

I'm excited to see what you have in mind for the flyers! Please do share your list of contacts so we can all use them, if you would.

The date we have planned for right now is August 9, 2006. We debated about the date a bit and finally decided on the 9th because it is the full moon in August, and I think having the walks happen in the evening would be great. Full moons are famously related to wolves (among other things), and after the walk is completed a great outdoors celebration could take place. I know it is the middle of the week. Part of my thinking on that is that we would be able to gather more of a crowd perhaps if the walks are started around towns instead of trying to get people to travel to a park somewhere first. A lot of this has to do with the advertising part of it, so I am open to suggestions. The date is not set in stone just yet.

Cindy said: [Putting
an ad in the newspaper is a good idea. Exactly what will you say? If we
all run it in sequence (similiar) then it will seem more as a worldly
effort, The same add going out all over.]

This is where the Host forum at walkforwildlife.org is going to come in. We can create news releases, and ads and flyers and everything that will be spot on to show the concerted effort by every host. Each news release can have the same basic information, and then each host can include information that is specific to their area. The forum, I hope, will become the central place for all volunteers to gather their Walk for Wolves information. I will be able to host files that will be available for people to download from the forum, as well as display information for people to copy and paste.

I have contacted someone about campaign organisation, and I think she will be more than willing to at least give us some helpful tips. She's a pretty savy lady.

Any questions, also, you can contact me at warden@walkforwildlife.org. For those of you who use messengers, I hope we can exchange contact information so we can chat live at times as well. I can set up a private IRC channel if needs be so we can have group meetings in real time.

With the passion and dedication I've seen from you and others I am more encouraged each day.

For every little thing you do... Thank you!

Peace,

Kimberley  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

documents November 01, 2005 5:52 PM

Hi again,

I have uploaded the pamphlet I made so you can download it on the walk for wildlife forum.  It's a 2 sided, bi-fold word document I made for a wolf conference in Sweden.  It's not what I would use specifically for Walk for Wolves, but it has some basic facts.

Peace,

Kimberley
