Do any of your pugs like to swim? Hamish has taken a keen liking to our wee pool. We strap water-wings around his middle & off he goes! If he can't get in the pool he cries & throws a temper! What a brat!

thank you for the invite to this group.I am absolutely in love with my pug ! She is the heart of my soul.
If you don't mind , I would love to tell you how I got this little girl.Oh,excuse me.., her name is Hazel.
I am a shelter director for a small no-kill in Granbury,Texas.Back in June of 2002 , I received a disturbing call from a pug breeder here in town that I knew all to well.He calls me telling me to come get these two senior breeders that had become worthless to him or he would kill them.So I go to his place and get the poor old gals (they were so worn out),and discovered the most horrifing situation and living condition of well over 50 pugs !
I return to my shelter and call our local animal control officers and the local and state health departments..,within three days we raided his place and confiscated 30 pugs , three min. pins. , two boxers, twenty pug pups (2 weeks to 6 weeks of age ) only 8 of them were alive.
Anyway , as we were removing these animals and tagging them , I was putting the tags on one and told the officer it was a pregnant female , so we put her in my car for a little bit more comfort.
When we got to the shelter we had to reload them and get them to another location in Dallas for they protection.I asked to keep her at my shelter until she delivered and the pups were old enough to move.
Well , needless to say , she came to live with me and two weeks later she had 5 of the cutest pups I have ever seen , unforunately we lost the tiniest one.But the others did well and went to wonderful homes.I could not let Hazel go and of course I adopted her.
She is the best little thing to come along , and she is a momma's girl.
What a fantastic story. Hazel is a really lucky little girl. I hope she is as spoiled as our Hamish who is the wee prince of our house. (Currently snoozing on one of his many well-placed poufes!)
Please post some pictures of your lovely girl.
Here is Hamish on holiday in Scotland when he was a wee lad.

I would love to put Hazel's picture on here.,but I am one of those people that has no clue on how to do this action.
Hamish is a handsome Pug in deed ! Hazel does not like water. And oh my !! Hazel does not know that she is of the canine persuation.,oh no no ! And we must never tell her so !
She is such a unique little girl.So full of life and spunk. We finally received a small amount of rain last night,so went it was time to take care of business for Hazel..,the little princess put one paw on the damp grass and decided it was to wet and she was not about to get her toes wet.
When we had our first set of puglettes: Apple & Peaches - we lived in Germany. I remember in the Winter my husband used to have to carry them down the stairs of our apartment & across the road & place them in the snow so they could powder their noses. Then reverse the whole process just to get them home. Our flat was on the top floor of a four story building w/no elevator. The funny thing - at least to me - was I had clipped two mini cowbells to each of their collars - I got them in Garmisch & thought they'd be cute. Well, my husband thought they were embarrassing. He always said that he thought when he grew up he'd have a manly-man dog. Instead here he is with these two snorty, round, jingle, girlie-girl pugs that he had to carry up & down stairs & through the snow. (O' & in the rain too - even tho' the girls had matching raincoats with hoodies to protect their pretty ears. (Hand-made polar-fleece for water-resistance!) Another thing my husband cringed at. Especially when he met our neighbour out walking his two Bernese Mountain dogs. Gynormous dogs - bigger than a St. Bernard!
