Hi! I'm the host of FWA. I hope you all enjoy this group!
If I expect you to introduce yourselves I guess I should introduce myself, too.
Well... I'm a university student from Espoo, Finland. I study in Helsinki University. I'm majoring in horticulture. My life is quite simple - doesn't take too many words to express it. Most of the time I study either at home or at the university. The rest of the time I try to make the world a better place here in Care2 or somewhere else. My friends are also very important to me.
Niina, thank you for inviting me to this group. i wish you all the best in yr life and studies, as well as to this group. It will be interesting to see how things develop as this is the first action group at care2 as far as i know that concentrate Finnish issues.

I couldn't resist joining up with our easterly neighbours. I'm in Stockholm and currently spending too much time looking for work, instead of working. Hope the group can help the Finnish environment and spread the word about the land of a thousand lakes.

It's good to know that there's something going on with Finland too.
About me: I'm currently living in Madrid, but will soon be back home in Finland to make some more studies. I'm originally from Helsinki, but I'm studying leadership in a school of economics and business administration in Lappeenranta. Not always really my thing since I'm more interested making people feel happy than making money.. I live together with my boyfriend and on my sparetime I like to do sports, tap dance or go out in the nature kayaking or trekking.
Thanks for great group Niina !!! Hope this group is going to collect finnish (and likeminded) care2 members together Well, I live in Turku, sometimes writing my geologian gradu.Besides that I hang around here in care2, read books, play RPG games, go out to nature ... or comfy pub. I'm semiactive member of KVT/SCI.
Öitä!

Hello everybody! I think it's a great idea to introduce ourselves in the group!
I'm living in Helsinki at the moment. Woprking hard in a huge iron store. As a horticulturist I take care of the gardenint department, especially plants. I don't really like this doing money -job...
I have been working on organic farms and thats more my thing. Though there is many good sides of living in a city.... It feels great to meet friends and family after 8 years of living abroad or in countryside (which is abroad, too -outside of Keha 3, You know... just kidding!)
I know exactly what you mean by that Kehä 3 thing. I was working outside Kehä 3 last summer - four months - and I feel like I have missed the whole summer. Not that I didn't enjoy my time "abroad" but somehow I didn't come to follow the world events and anything that happened during the summer is completely unfamiliar to me.
Maybe you have clicked the email tracking link at the bottom of the page... You can cancel the email tracking by clicking the "cancel email tracking" link.
Thx Jouni for inviting me here! I'm really happy to see other Finns meeting around this and/or any other concrete, important issue.
I am a traveller but have my roots deeply set into the rocks of the Finnish archipelago. I live close to the waters, the meadows and the forests around me and I feel bad when it seems they feel bad. Moose are my totem animals. I'm looking for soul mates and kindred warriors. I'm looking forward to hearing what you're up to.
I've just left Finland for the Middle East, but was living in the Helsinki area for 5 years. I'm married to a Finnish man, and will always be connected to Finland because of family and friends. I can speak Finnish at intermediate/upper intermediate level - fairly large vocab, good pronunciation, but bad grammar It is great to meet you all, and I look forward to staying current on Finnish environmental concerns, and adding my voice to protect the beautiful country that Finland is.
I'm Cissy, a Finn who loves nature and wildlife, and cats especially. I am an English teacher by profession, currently working also as a class teacher. This looks like a great group!
Thanks for the invitation, Jouni!
I'm Niina (so that makes two of us in this group!) and I live in Helsinki, although I'm originally from Rovaniemi. I'm a postgraduate student and a freelance writer.

Thanks to Jouni for the invite. I was happy to join this great group. I will promote any major wildlife campaigns on my website http://www.greatmysterypublishing.com , which by the way has a Finnish Proverb "Even a small star shines in the darkness" as it's motto!
Hope you all do not mind that a 65 year old shut-in with a kitty (14yr) companion has joined your group! When working was among many things a Social Worker, now I do what good I can do by signing petitions and harassing government officials when they are in the wrong. One of my dreams was to visit Finland, now I do it by armchair travel.
Want to wish all the members a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
Am also a tree hugger and my little piece of ground has been recognized by the Nat'l Wildlife Federation as a Natural Habitat.
Well, now there are obviously 2xElina S. February 21, 2006 7:03 AM
I got an invitation to join, thank you. Now what should I tell about myself... I study English philology at the university. Nature and animals are a very important part of my life and right at the moment I'm most conserned about the global warming. It is just sad that sometimes the majority of people can't see a catastrophy coming... And. I'm a friend of wolves. I love "howling" (read "music") and enjoy going for walks in the woods. Let's take care of what we have left of our nature!

Hi, I am an American who lives in Boulder, Colorado right next to the mountains. I just spent my morning releasing seven raccoons back to the wild. Needless to say I love wildlife. Hopefully I will make it to Finland one day! Love, Andrea Lawless

I am from Ukraine, but I now live in Helsinki. I am 15 and go to secondary school at 8th grade. I live in a nice forest/park (as some call it "Maalla keskellä kaupunkia" , a friendly place.) I am a bit lazy of going outside, but still see interesting things happen in our little back garden.
I'm Kaisa and I've been here for a while but haven't post any (?) messages yet.
I'm 22 years old and I live in Mikkeli, Finland with my boyfriend and our two Cornish rex cats. At the moment I'm a student and I'll be graduating in this spring.
Thank you Jouni for inviting me to this group. It is nice to have a forum to discuss about how to spare our unique nature. I love animals and forests and all nature and I hope we could have it untouched near the cities too. I am an old horselover, we bought our first horse with my sister at the year 1973. She had then 4 foals and I still have one of them, who is now 26 years old and also his son It is learning all the time, the horses are good teachers and now I try to give them so natural life surroundins as possible.
I have also a cat, very clever and lovely cat
At my old ages I have learned many new things to save our nature. Have you heard about EM? Effektive mikro-organismen? You can use it in so many places.
Hi all, I am truly sorry but I need to leave the group. I am on total group overload and am downsizing drastically. I do treasure all of your friendships and do hope you understand. Hugs, Karenlee

I am also trying to change the Copyright laws with a Petition on Care2.
It's nice to be included.
Respectfully and sincerely, Electra

HI! I just joined this group and thank you very much for the invitation Jouni. I am currently studying Drama in London but otherwise am 100% finnish. I am pursueing an acting career and at the moment everything seems to be going according to plan. I do spend all my holidays in Finland at my parents place in Espoo. I've always loved everything to do with nature and am encreasingly concerned for the environment and its unique aspects like the rainforests. Nice to meet all of you! Hope we can make a difference together!
Let's try to keep the language in English, babble English, US English, Finglish... ... it will be challenging and exciting to all members to stretch and brush up English (there are some ongoing petitions that we will translate into English on discussion board). Keep posting and vehemently inspiring all of us!!!

Hello there!
I'm Liisa, I grew up in Finland and have been then living 5 years in Germany and 6 years in the Netherlands since I left Finland to study. Now my circle through Middle Europe may get complete if I really decide to return where I came from. Maybe I'll be back in Helsinki next year. I like to support the protection of the Finnish nature by supporting Suomen Luonnonsuojeluliitto (www.sll.fi) and I will buy christmas presents at their store with nice, natural products (www.luontokauppa.com).
Thanks Jouni! (your invitation is already very old, but I'm just now beginning to get active here in groups).
I am a 3rd generation Finn. I visited the Beautiful country about 10 yrs ago. I love the swiss cheese effect of the lakes and trees. I am interested to learn Finnish and connect with members of this group to learn about conservation practices in Finland and teach them to kids in Canada.
to all new members! This group hasn't been that active lately, but I think the best way get you started, Jaana, is that if you'd start a new thread (or use an old one if there is one) about learning Finnish. There you could ask and hopefully get some answers too.
My name is Marc and i am a 50 years old Frenchman into Shamanism and Druidism.
My first connection to Finland was curiously through the band called Killing Joke, which i saw in Switzerland.
I meet a traditional Finnish Music band in London a few years later and was amazed at the beauty of the people i saw as well as their positive and harmonious attitude toward the crowd and myself.
There is a lot i got to learn about Finland but i think i will learn with pleasure. Regards to all members. Marc
I am 45 years old environmental lab assistent from Helsinki. I care specially of Baltic Sea and climate change. I live close to Keskuspuisto, the lungs of Helsinki. I am keen in nature and I love my two cats, Kipinä and Säinä.
