Volunteers Needed:
Volunteers, 16+ years old, to organize activities and interact with the guests for the Christmas Festival at 910 W. Commerce,

Dec. 9th, 7 pm - 9 pm (adults)

Dec. 16th from 7 pm - 9 pm (adults)

Dec. 10, 2 pm - 4pm (families)

Dec. 17, 2 - 4pm (families)

Christmas Festival at 5922 Blanco, Dec. 17 from 2 pm - 4 pm (families);

Gift Wrapping Party at 5922 Blanco, Dec 7, 12 & 14 from 6 pm - 8 pm

Dec. 10th from 10 - 1,

Dec. 11 from 1 - 4.

Volunteers for gift wrapping parties can be as young as 12 years of age, if accompanied by an adult.


Items Needed:
hand sanitizer, toilet tissue, facial tissue, Q-tips, sanitary napkins, deodorant, dental floss, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, chapstick/carmex/vaseline, hand lotion, make-up, combs/brushes/hair picks, baby bottle brushes, baby sipper cups, baby sheets, beige pants, men black pants, men black shoes, scarves/caps/mittens, flip flops, slippers, trash cans/trash bags, brooms/mops, cleaning products (Lysol, laundry detergent, bleach, peroxide, alcohol), blankets, alarm clocks, towels/wash cloths, night lights, flash lights, and sewing kits.

Additional Information:
Donations need to be dropped off at our location at 5922 Blanco Road by Dec. 2.

I've got a box thats almost ready to go. I wait till all my enviromental groups start offering blankets when you renew and then donate those.  [ send green star]

Thanks for contributing. I really like the idea of the "free" balnkets, too! A couple other things environmental (and other) groups often give out are backpacks & sports/water bottles, both of which are always appreciated by the homeless. ~Deb  [ send green star]

Orientation and Education sessions are held to give an understanding of their mission and the ways that you can become involved.
They are held at the Transitional Living and Learning Center, 5922 Blanco Road, San Antonio, Texas.


The dates for 2006 are Thursday evenings, 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.:

January 12, February 9, March 9, April 13, May 11, June 8, July 13, August 10, September 14, October 12, November 9, December 14

My trip to NY got bumped to the week of the 22nd, so I've signed up to attend the SAMM Volunteer Orientaion next Thursday evening. I'll be the "scout ant" on this one and report back to the group on the experience.  [ send green star]

In case you're wondering why I never followed up on the this, I wasn't able attend last month's orientation afterall. (Got stuck at work late that evening.) I've rescheduled for the Feb. 9th session. Will let you know my impressions afterward.
