This site has basic information, but I see no info on how a person would go about requesting assistance under any of the programs. There is also no email address listed/linked for the Acting Community Actio Director, Matthew Hackler. Maybe a phone call is required, to request informationthat would actually be helpful?
Thanks for the invitation. I have wanted to start a folder on this group of Harmony's on TEXAS RESOURCES... but alas... all states the countries would certainly have every right in having one!
I would like to post this url to the Homeless Cicil Rights group
Good to see you! i know you're in Austin, so if you have related information for that area (or any other) feel free to open a new thread and post away. There is a link to the Homeless Rights group as well as the main Homeless Community Action group on the welcome thread. But there's no reason we shouldn't have them here, too.
I just saw the link to your group on "Recent Groups" on Care2 Groups.
It's EXCELLENT that local liason groups are being formed I will aim to have my awareness out for San Antonio as I network in this and other groups around the internet.

Shelters.org, provides a directory of more than 750 homeless
shelters in the United States with contact information (including
street address, phone number, URL and contact e-mail address) and a
listing of the services offered by each shelter. You can access the
directory through the main Shelters.org site or directly athttp://apps.grassroots.org/shelter_links. Shelters are grouped
by state but can also be located through the site's search tool. In
addition, visitors can submit their own shelter information to the
database including additions and corrections. In the coming weeks more
features will be added to the directory including the addition of
Canadian shelters as well as the ability to view a shelter's location
through a link to a web-based map. The site is maintained by Lois Lannin, the manager of the Goodwill
Inn Homeless Shelterin Traverse City, Michigan. You can contact Lois
directly atloisl@goodwillnmi.org.

I don't know how many other HCAs that aren't on your billboard, but I started one I don't see up there. I started an HCA for the city of South Bend, Indiana, a community with over 100,000 people. http://www.care2.com/c2c/group/HCASouthBendIndiana

PS There are some very large cities that I haven't found HCAs for including New York & Chicago. I'm sure they have their fair share of homelessness & I hope someone starts groups for them.

Thanks for the info on the South Bend HCA, Paula. I'll put a link on the front page. Sorry about the oversight, but I've been offline while travelling for business. (The boss shipped me off to Chennai, India.) Now that I'm home again, I'll update our boards. ~Deb
