I was so impressed with the facts & statistics of Gov. Henry's term as Governor. I had forgotten just how bad of shape the state of Oklahoma was in.
Now when I wonder "What has BH really done"? I'm reminded of these facts and I am grateful & humbled to the work of Gov Brad Henry. Oklahoma had a shortfall of 700 million when Henry took office...we don't have that today.
I remember the Bush Administration problems, Enron and all the other really really bad news had effected Oklahoma, like other states, we were not doing well and the all around feeling was very scary, sobering and there was a lot of hopelessness because we were (and still are) so disgusted with those in power. I still have my concerns about the direction the powerful & politicians are taking our country & world but I'm so relieved to read the positive works of Brad Henry & the state of Oklahoma!
When Gov. Henry took office in 2003, he faced the largest budget shortfall in state history. Without raising taxes or making major cuts to priority areas such as education and health care, he balanced the budget and put the state in the black. Over the next three years, he implemented major initiatives to improve education, health care, job creation, public safety and transportation.
