Poor children’s vision is a disability too!

Schools are letting children slip through the cracks that have poor to severe vision problems. Often this is diagnosed as learning disabilities or worse. Please help Janet Hughes bring attention to this problem in Illinois and elsewhere so that more children are not misdiagnosed. You do not need to be a resident of Illinois to sign this petition; it is the start of a United States wide drive to help these kids. Without 1,000 signatures by October 18th this drive will fail. For more information the petition site is and my friend Janet Hughes Care2 page is: Amblyopia is the leading cause of vision loss in children and young adults. Amblyopia can be prevented and cured if caught in its early stage. “During the school year, my daughter produced beautiful work with pictures and printing better than most in her class. She read simple buzz books with excitement and a love for learning. My child also passed the mandated vision screening. Everyone thought her eyes were fine until the following summer. We suspected a vision problem and brought her to an optometrist for a check-up. An eye exam found what vision screenings missed—high refractive error with large amounts of astigmatism. My daughter needed lenses so strong that she had to be eased into her glasses!” Thank you my Care2 Friends!
