Annoying Ads are Fronts for Criminal Enterprises: PROOF
1 year ago

You know those "annoying" ADS on threads, where a "Cute young thing", often a blonde-haired young woman, or a Mom, or even a cute guy, says something like "my roommate makes hundreds of dollars a day from her computer, easy, I couldn't believe it at first, she paid off her mortgage and bought a new car..." - yes, THOSE ads? Well, here is the REAL TRUE STORY on those - not at ALL what they seem! The pics and the names are both STOLEN IDENTITIES... but that's just the BEGINNING. These ads are an actual DANGER to all members here.....

BMutiny  - seattleweekly.com

The Russian cyberheist was carried out with the help of nearly 100 different accomplices in the United States, who were HIRED THROUGH WORK-AT-HOME JOB SCAMS run by a crime gang that has been fleecing businesses for the past five years; SCAMMERS EXPOSED. [Also known as "Spammers".]

Jesse Willms, the Dark Lord of the Internet - Taylor Clark - The Atlantic
Society & Culture
BMutiny  - theatlantic.com

Willms defrauded consumers of some $467 million by enticing them to sign up for "risk free" product trials and then billing their cards recurring fees for a litany of automatically enrolled services they hadn't noticed in the fine print. SPAMMERS UNMASKED

It's mind-boggling, what Tor users may have available. If these sites are genuine, then it's clear this underground network is rich with beneath-the-table resources, including
And the WORST of it, is.....

I "suspected" something fishy from the VERY BEGINNING, I have DONE MY HOMEWORK, DONE THE RESEARCH - WHICH ANYBODY WHO WANTS TO, CAN REPLICATE AND VERIFY.

.

There are References on Wikipedia, and the Guardian [British newspaper], among other places:

You can look up such subjects as Deep Web, Dark Web, TOR, bitcoin, Silk Road, RussianBusinessGroup...
on & on it goes....
Atlantic magazine, The Seattle Weekly [Rick Anderson]... more stuff coming to light all the time...
.
And THIS is why those ads should BE DELETED AS SOON AS THEY APPEAR here, they are DANGEROUS...
there are ALWAYS the careless, the unwary.... we have a RESPONSIBILITY to them, even if we think they're "stupid" and WE wouldn't fall for these CYBER-SCAMS... there are enormous sums of money involved, for Illegal and Immoral purposes, not on the up-and-up... very, VERY Dark things... we want nothing to do with that, here!!!

.

In the first News Article, there's the story of even a "sophisticated", but jobless and desperate, person like Contreras, who FELL for the "offer" and thus became a "MULE" - unwittingly carrying out the business of an INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL GANG.
THAT is what is REALLY being offered by those annoying "work from home" ads.
.
By the way, the STOLEN MONEY is being used to FINANCE, among other things:
DRUG TRAFFICKING
WEAPONS TRAFFICKING
HUMAN TRAFFICKING, including Trafficking of Women and Children for Sexual Exploitation
TERRORISM, and Civil Wars over Minerals, Gold, Diamonds, etc.
and, POACHERS AND INTERNET SELLING OF ANIMAL PARTS, including Ivory, Rhino Horns, parts of Tigers, etc.....
THAT'S what those "Cute young thing" ads are REALLY ABOUT.
When you see them, think of POACHERS, Endangered Species...
.
I'm just TRYING to WARN ya....
The Ultimate Role of those Annoying Ads...

The $19 billion global black market in wildlife is not only threatening the survival of elephants hunted and other endangered species. It is threatening the very stability of governments, says a just-released study (pdf) by the conservation group WWF. Rebel groups are using funds from trafficking to purchase weapons and finance civil conflicts and even terrorist cells.

.

John Scanlon, secretary general of Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (Cites), said that rebel groups are literally “cashing in” on world-wide demand for elephants, tigers and rhinoceros, whose body parts are in high demand in parts of Asia for use in traditional medicine. In northern Cameroon, Chad, the Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo, 450 elephants were slaughtered last year and their ivory directly used to finance arms and bribe government officials. The number of rhinos killed for their horns (worth some $600,000) has risen from about 20 a year to an expected 600 this year.

.

The illegal sale of animals and plants is, says the study, the fourth largest kind of illegal trading in the world, after narcotics, counterfeiting of products and currency and the trafficking of people.

.

The study is based on interviews with 15 government officials and seven representatives of international organizations that deal with trafficking. But two government officials objected to answer questions about government corruption and Vietnam, which has become a central market for the illicit trade in rhino horns, refused to participate.

.

Organized Crime Has Entered the  Illegal Wildlife Trade

.

Even more, the WWF report suggests that “ power and sophisticated crime syndicates” are behind a huge rise in the illegal wildlife trade.  The internet has also played a role as it has made illegal products available to many, many more

It's up to US, to tell our friends.....!

I believe that the Management of this Site here, does not take this entire situation SERIOUSLY ENOUGH, as sometimes they've been known to leave those intrusive "ads" up on threads for entire weekends.... and apparently they resent efforts to point out the DANGERS.

.

Management acts as if they think the ads are really only "what they seem to be"...

.

I would like to see EVERY SINGLE MEMBER OF THIS SITE DIS-ABUSED OF THAT CRAZY NOTION, THAT THOSE ADS ARE "WHAT THEY SEEM"...

Hittin' it...hard

CREDIT CARD THEFT - the TARGET example

VERY INTERESTING stuff that's coming out now about the massive Target Credit Card Attack:
.
Haven't I been telling people to BEWARE of having their Info and Credit Card Numbers STOLEN - that there's HI-TECH stuff out there that can do it EASILY?!
.
"The malware involved something called "memory-scraping," Reuters reported. That means that the moment you swipe your card the malware grabbed your credit card info.
This POS malware seems to be a known variety, spotted as early as June, 2013, Krebs says. It looks like something called BlackPOS that sells on hacker forums for $1,800-$2,300.
.
Hackers can sell the credit card numbers for $35 - $100 each. Gold or platinum credit cards go for $60 each, business credit cards $80 and some platinum cards, $100, Cisco security researcher Levi Gundert wrote this week in a blog post. That's a stunning potential payback on a $2,300 piece of software.

Alert: DANGEROUS CYBER-CRIMINALS, NOT MERELY SPAMMERS
(4 comments) — I feel Care2 members should KNOW about the "work from home" ads, RECRUITING "MULES" TO CARRY OUT ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES. Just like the Drug Cartels do... A person who was recruited unwittingly by one of these ads, was given in a seattleweekly.com article ...  more
HOW SCAMMERS ARRIVE ON CARE2

It is EXTREMELY EASY to spot the FAKE NEW MEMBERS. Do this YOURSELF: go to "Community", then to "People", then to "People Home", then to "Members", then to "New Members". You will see a block of exactly 42 "New Members". That is 6 rows of 7 each = 42. As more New Members come in, others drop off the "Block"; so it changes all the time.

.

You will INSTANTLY SPOT THE FAKES. I don't even NEED to tell you how! They all look alike! The American and Australian Fakes are these doe-eyed young girl drawings; the Polish Fakes are generally hideous Horror or Sci-fi-type Pics, or some are this Cartoon character you will come to recognize; or you see the same Pic over & over again. Some of the Fakes are recognizable by 4 squares in the lower right-hand corner of the pic. Of the block of 42, AT LEAST HALF AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT, ARE THE FAKES. There is a new Fake Profile coming onto C2, I estimate at least every 10 minutes. That is day after day, hour after hour, week after week, month after month, year after year... day in & day out, day & night, every day with not a MOMENT'S letup...

.

If I can figure this out, Care2 can! But, they do NOTHING - it's obvious why. They don't have the PERSONNEL.... It would take 24/7 Duty to even begin to do this. That means PAYING A CYBER-SECURITY GUARD TEAM.

.

I believe that all these FAKE PROFILES, [they are just EMPTY SPACE!] LURK and DO NOTHING, until they are "activated". Then the FAKE NAME is united with a FAKE PICTURE - not the "entry" cartoon, but a STOLEN PHOTOGRAPH. [Generally of a "cute blonde-haired young thing". Who is probably quite unaware of its use...] The pic is ACTIVATED - AND THE SPAM/SCAM GOES OUT TO DOZENS OF THREADS AT THE SAME MOMENT, i.e. "3:43 pm Jan 18th", for example. This is a HI-TECH OPERATION, to SIMULTANEOUSLY APPEAR ON MANY THREADS AT THE SAME MOMENT, that no "real" C2 member is capable of. They must have this ADVANCED EQUIPMENT... one click and the IDENTICAL PIC AND THE TEXT, appear say 50 times.... all over Care2. After being used, IMMEDIATELY after that button sendng them out is pushed, the Fake Profiles can be scrapped because they've served their purpose, and there are literally THOUSANDS MORE on Care2 where they came from...

.

Please DIS-ABUSE YOURSELVES, AND EVERYONE ELSE, that these HI-TECH CRIMINAL OPERATORS, bear the SLIGHTEST resemblance to "real" C2 members, even Vicious ones! That's what they WANT people to think! The Fake Profiles, besides the cartoony pics, they have "content" that is often GIBBERISH AND NONSENSE - but, it is made to look like, for such clumsy filters as C2 has, look like the real profiles, in the LAYOUT. Often, the City is given as something impossible, like "Safeco Plaza, Washington" [no such town]; the age is given as something like 9; and the boys' names go with girls' faces, and the girls' names go with boys' faces. Just as long as the LAYOUT looks "real" to a MACHINE - it would NEED A HUMAN BEING, to tell the difference!!!!

.

I am sure that the HIGH-TECH EQUIPMENT, once the FAKE PROFILE is safely ensconsed on Care2 - and there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO STOP IT FROM BEING SO, Flagging DOES NOT MATTER, C2 said they would IGNORE SUCH FLAGS... Once the FAKE PROFILE is on, it can get put IN ANY THREAD, MECHANICALLY. They can OVER-RIDE, they are on the CUTTING EDGE of Technology....

.

Again {and again!}, these are NOT PEOPLE, and they do NOT get on threads thru the same routes that you and I do! They don't even need to know how to speak English... these are employees of SUBSIDIARY COMPANIES that could be located ANYWHERE in the World... contracted to RUSSIAN GANGSTERS; or maybe to POLISH CRIMINALS {I'm beginning to suspect, but no proof or evidence YET}, who just hire these people to do the boring, impersonal clicking, on schedule... it's just a job, puts food on the table for the kiddies... the mysterious innards of the computers do the REAL WORK... including probably choosing where to go...

.

My investigations continue. I suspect the Polish Group are into truly hideous stuff to match their hideous pics. I suspect THEY are USING Care2 as a Gateway into deeply hidden parts of the Dark Web; WORSE stuff than recruiting "Mules". I suspect they, the Polish Group, are the Worst of the Worst. But I may never know.... But it's productive to have HYPOTHESES to work on... To use a GATEWAY, those "in-the-know" go to a site [like C2], go to a certain place, click a certain obscure section, which opens up ANOTHER "portal", which may open up another "portal"... and so on, all these sites looking fairly innocuous, but the "in-the-know" person goes a specific route...

.

By the way, there are dicey places on Care2 also. If you TYPE IN THE NAMES OF PORN STARS, you get links to HARD-CORE PORN SITES ON CARE2 - in the News Items and in the Shares. Or, if you type in a name LIKE that of a porn star... which is how I ACCIDENTALLY found this out! Have uncovered about a dozen Hard-core Porn locations on Care2 so far, don't know whether C2 deleted after I TOLD them about it....

.

THIS is what happens when one ASKS QUESTIONS, and doesn't just "take for granted" what one sees - Why PORN on C2? Why all those pics that LOOK ALIKE? Why all those postings with the EXACT SAME TIME in all those DIFFERENT locations?

.

Am I the ONLY C2 member that ever asks anything?

It's amazing that they use the same picture over and over again. I do try and flag any of the spammers I see. Thanks for all of the information, but not sure what do do but flag spammers and be on the look out and be careful.
