anonymous Introduce yourself/Welcome to the Group June 03, 2007 7:20 AM

I thought it was time to start a new thread for introductions and welcomes, so here it is.  [report anonymous abuse]

anonymous New member June 03, 2007 1:08 PM

Thanks for having this group!  I'll introduce myself here, I guess.

I have been a protestant/fundamentalist Christian since high school.  But I had always been curious about Catholic beliefs.  I love history, politics, religion, and  reading...so, eventually I took up the task of really finding out about early church history and teachings. To make a long story short, I converted to the Catholic Church after much reading, studying, and prayer in 1998.

I have struggled since then.  But, that's just me....it's not the Church or anyone else's fault.   I get off track a lot.  But, there is no place I'd rather be than in the Catholic Church.  It's where Jesus meant for me to be, and where I have found real shelter during rough times.

Hello Gerry. It's great to see you here. We seem very much alike inasmuch as I struggle too. It certainly isn't easy to live the Catholic faith as we should but it's important that we try our best. I look forward to discussing our faith with you. Welcome!  [report anonymous abuse]

Hello Lisa. Welcome to the group. The group is dormant and, try as I might, I can't get people to discuss anything here. Perhaps you would post something and see what happens.  [report anonymous abuse]

To a Dormant Group August 21, 2007 8:04 AM

Hello Everyone.  I'm Patrick and I'm brand new to this group.  Perhaps no one reads these posts, so what I write won't make any difference.  Or, maybe if a few people do, someone might respond.

I love Catholicism.  It is truly a beautiful expression of Christs' love and saving power.  I particular love the Real Presence in the Eurcharist and the Communion of Saints.

The Catholic CHURCH, on the other hand--the polity--I find much harder to swallow.  Some of the bishops are as megalomaniacal as a mafia Don.  Others are a front for the Republican Party.  But not even such people can drive me away from Catholicism, for its every bit as much MY church as THEIRS.

Hi folks August 26, 2007 11:26 PM

good to see a Catholic group here. i was a cradle Catholic who wandered for years. Came back after 20 yrs. So many doors opened and the next thing i knew opened a Catholic message board that defended the Church. We've had our board for 3 yrs. Started with care 2 because of the email program but since discovered this group and a chance to share the faith with others.
Good to meet everyone!! You seem like very nice ppl. It's nice to run into other Catholics who are devout and try to live out their faith. God bless all of you!

Welcoming September 06, 2007 6:29 AM

Thank you, James.  I would like to be a welcome member.  I am a serious Catholic.   I am probably not as institutionally loyal to the Vatican as some of the members I've seen posting messages here.   There is so much that is beautiful and unique about Catholicism that without it, enduring this world without falling into hedonism would be next to impossible for some people (probably myself included).

I promise to my more conservative friends that I will try my best to behave.

Patrick

Hello September 26, 2007 11:25 AM

Hi, I'm glad I found this group.  I have been learning and reading all that I can find about the Catholic Church for a couple years now.  I recently moved to a new area and haven't yet found a church.   [ send green star]

INTRODUCTION September 27, 2008 1:50 PM

I am Thomas Grow, husband of Maria (petralamb),whom you may know as Weber. After 33 years of being a "born-again Christian",I have seen certain verses that convinced me that I was wrong, all those years.I have 10 minutes to write this. Also there was much prayer on my behalf,I can have no doubt.I am not yet a Catholic, but I have made the choice, that when I am able,I will be baptised, and take classes, etc,so I am satisfied for now in saying that.

Oh, are we going to try and revive this then?  That'd be great.  Being a convert to catholicism it seems that so many are lax in expressing their faith.

Hi,
I'd like to see this group become more active too.  Should we post prayer requests, news stories, and stuff??  Ideas?

anonymous Introduction October 25, 2008 3:56 AM

Hello everyone, I'm proud to be a Roman Catholic. I love my faith. I believe that Jesus is present in the blessed sacrament of the alter. The Catholic faith will be here to the end of time because it is Christs church. Pax (peace) :0)

ABOUT WHAT I SAID BEFORE September 17, 2009 12:05 PM

This group I have left alone for a long time, for lack of computer access.Since that time,I became a Catholic(Easter,'09).I go to Old Saint Mary's on 13th street in Cincinnati. What really makes my day is confession. There was none of that as a protestant,of course. My sins just built up, and up.After confession, I feel clean, and ready for Eucharist, and death, for that matter.  [ send green star]
