what is the place of The Animal of Your Heart in your life June 30, 2004 2:55 AM

I have an alter-ego since I was 6 or 7 years old: a cub lioness. She is not yet 3 months old, and in my fantasy / day- or nightdreams she is always meeting people. She is always frightened in the beginning, but because of the fact she is very curious and the fact there are always people who do nòt kill her (lion-)family, who do nòt poison or mistreat her, but are friendly to her, she is sort of getting used to living with people. She still thinks they behave very strange, but it's acceptable ... This Little Lioness is there, when I am not. She doesn't know me, she only knows people I know from my daily life, and people I don't know (I fantasy 'new' people). And than to the subject: what is the place of The Animal of Your Heart in your life ?????  [ send green star]

So Many! June 30, 2004 9:06 AM

St. Francis is my patron saint and I always loved that he could communicate with Nature! I have always felt Nurtured and Secure out in Nature and quite the opposite when I went to my 'Home' with the humans. So I have always held All of Nature deep in my Heart. All the Plants, Rocks, Water, and Air! I was, and still am, entranced by Fire! I liked what others did not; Snakes, Spiders, the smell of a back bay or horse/cow manure, even skunks! I have a little trouble seeing Grubs as beautiful, but they turn into japanese bettles! though distructive are very beautiful! For some reson when I was younger I had a great dislike of Rats but now I like them also, especially the Sky Rats: Squirels (but I always greatly enjoyed squirells). I belive my Soul individualized from a Cougar so I feel most connected to the Cat family and a Cougar is my main Power Animal. Hawk is another one of my Power Animals! I have always been mesmerized by birds in flight. I did spend most of my life flying outside my body! Of all the animals in Nature, though some I would prefer to not be near like the wild Boar, the one that disturbs me the most is Man. Within us is the Opertunity to radiate Gods Love into the World of Form and bring Heaven down to Earth or through Selfishness destroy all the Beauty on this planet creating our own Hell. Although Man is the one Animal I would most like to stay away from, it is through Healing this confused Animal that the future of this planet rests. God help us all! Thanks and A question to you and all June 30, 2004 9:51 AM

Hi Frank Thanks for your reply. I was wondering how it is to be a man, for you. It looks like a burden! Another question: are you able to, how shall I call it, English is not my home language, you see ... are you able to 'climb' in the skin of the hawk, for example? I want to compare the way you feel about the animals you described, with the way I feel about 'my cub'... who is not mine in fact, for she is me, on certain moments. This is also my question to other members: can you 'live' in the animal you chose, like a sort of actor who is forgetting himself when he performs his role? three ways animals are in my heart June 30, 2004 11:40 AM

Hi! Fun subject! I have three ways that animals are in my heart. The first is that I just love animals. I have an assortment that live with me/ around me, and I just have always have had a good rapport with most any kind of animal. I learn life lessons from watching animals. Patience from Heron, contentment from Tortoise, persistance and industry from Beaver, etc. The second way animals are in my heart are as allies. When I was a small child, black Panther would be my comfort and companion. To the casual observer this interaction might have looked like an imaginary friend. However, Panther was very real to me. Now, my main allies, or Power Animals are Horse and Hawk. Hawk is my protetor that intervenes in my ordinary reality (OR), daily life. Though she is also there in non ordinary reality(NOR), ie trance, dream, shamanic journey. In NOR I have flown on the back of Hawk, seeing the landscape flowing below me. Horse appears in NOR and is also separate from me. He is a guide. I can "check in" with him in OR to ask a question, or get some guidance. I hear/feel his answer in my heart. The third way is that I can slip into certain animals. I can do this with most animals but some don't "fit" as well as others. I am most comfortable as Lynx or Bobcat. Sometimes when things in life get to be a hassle I just "go" Lynx. I also fit rather well in Red Fox. During these events, I see through the eyes of Lynx or Fox. I feel what they feel, my perspective is from their perspective, close to the ground. Of course my physical body in OR doesn't change shape. My spirit/heart/mind fills in all those details. Hope this answers your questions! *grin* Maylilly (the name that most my friends use for me)  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

choose or being chosen June 30, 2004 10:25 PM

Hmmm .... I don't know if I chose the cub, or she chose me? How do you know, Regina?  [ send green star]

WOW June 30, 2004 10:26 PM

Wow Maylilly, yes, this seems to me a broad (?, I mean large and deep) answer. Many aspects, you wrote about. And finally, this morning (it's 7.21 here), I found out, I am not the only one who feels she can 'change' (slip) into an animal and watch / feel from her perspective ... without being able to change the human shape .. alas! Thanks, dear!  [ send green star]

shall you choose? July 06, 2004 3:49 AM

Is well known among dolphin trainers that at the moment of interactions, the dolphin is the one that choooses you. You can swim or walk towards the dolphins, but normally they are the ones that decide to get closer or to swim off. I don´t know if it happens the same with other group of social animals, but talking about dolphins, they are the ones that have the right to select. You just wait..  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

My animal July 06, 2004 1:35 PM

I have always been told I remind people of a big cat. When I lived in Colorado big cats would run across the field behind my house making a yow call. I loved hearing it! During a trance meditation a cougar chose me in my "dream". Favorite people refer to me a Kitty Kat when they can't remember my name. Funny thing when I was a kid I didn't even have animals around the house.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

On equal footing July 07, 2004 10:47 AM

There are so many animals that speak to me in so many different ways. My earliest memories were those of cats. My family always had many. I have two of my own now, Geist and Kali. So much love from them. The cat really speaks to me because I am one. I am a leo sun sign and a tiger in Chinese astrology. I can be proud and brave, but sometimes too independent and need to be reminded that I am not alone and I don't have to do it all by myself. That's where my puppy, Lucie balances me out. She reminds me that I am part of a pack and I have a greater responsibility and that I must make decisions that will benefit the greater group and not just the individual. I remain humble and with more love in my heart having animals around me. I notice the squirrel, the skunk, the racoon, the bluejay, the butterfly, the fireflies and always send them well wishes and loving hellos. I mourn when I see one of them squished on the roadways as if they were part of my pack, because I really feel they are no less important than anyone else. "Om mani padme hum" the mantra of compassion. They have just as much right to life as I do. In this interconnected world, my heart is full of blessings for all natures creatures. Loving, Amandha  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

What a fantastic group! July 08, 2004 9:23 PM

I am so excited about joining this group and the wonderful feelings it brings. I feel a centuries-long connection to black cats. I have a beautiful statue of Bast, the Egyptian Cat Goddess, who watched over mothers and children. Bast is always portrayed as a black cat and I leave her with my family when I need to be away for any reason. A few years ago I was able to hold a young black panther in my arms. This beautiful boy had lost his mother and was being rehabilitated in Southern Oregon. Holding him was a defining moment in my life. I had never held such power and strength so close before. I now have a gorgeous black cat of my own. His mother gave birth to him in my lap and he is one of the most important creatures in my life. Of course, he's making his Auntie Creepie hiss and scream like a banshee right now, but she'll get over it! Kindest Regards, Mich  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

thanks July 09, 2004 12:34 AM

for your replies! When we started the group, Stephen and me, I was a bit anxious about it ... it seemed like a silly idea. But I see there are more people with very strong feelings for an animal!  [ send green star]

I refer to Fox as my spirit guide July 13, 2004 4:36 AM

and that is what she is - guiding, overseeing, watching from above. I am shamanistic, so I should be able to "go to an animal" but I haven't tried yet. I don't know who chooses, if it is the animal, me or Goddess Maybe no one chooses... Some animals of my heart are pets of mine - and they are family. They are not my children, they are my animals, as I am their human. The relationship is very different from those to humans, more equal and spiritual somehow... I guess there is too much in being a human, all these words and filters and masks and expectations and manners and habits and prejudices and thoughts and... with cat you have a cat. Irritating, yes, manipulative, yes, pain in the butt - yes, but no lies, no fear of loosing face, no mind games. Ketutar  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

To observe everything, everyplace and everywhere. To see beyond the light. Also, Dogs have taught me unconditional love and trust and kindness. these are my counterparts, my co-patriots and the kindred spirits I share my world with.

My Spirit Guide has always been a feline...sometimes she (or he) is a puma, sometimes a much smaller cat.  I have had visions in which my animal had led me, and protected me, and even taught me.  Cats and I are naturally drawn to each other.

My Native American name is Mosi (you say : Mo-sah) which means "cat", and my name, as you can see, is Kat.  There's a reason for everything!

Until next time...WALK IN PEACE.

It is quite strange, but people tell me whenever they think of tigers they think of me and that I embody their spririt and their energy. A good friend once told me:

"You are definatly one of best human beings I've ever met. More human than most of us, and yet so much like the tigers you so ferverently strive to protect. Your pride is solid, your honor is worth your name, and anything you say has the most intellegence I've ever seen."

I have known the tiger has been with me for a long time. I have had great experiences communicating with tigers in zoos and some have said they are responding to my energy. Although a mystic once told me there is more to this than meets the eye I would rather not go into it at this time.

Hopefully, I can earn my stripes in this life.

My Favorite Animals... April 22, 2005 8:58 PM

Okay, well, if I'm being honest, my favorite animal would have to be a Unicorn. I know what you're all thinking, "Unicorn's don't exist"! And your, right, they don't exist anymore. (They did in Biblical times) So, since they"don't exist" anymore, my next would have to be, of course, Horses. But to be perfectly honest here, I love every animal. Seals, Dolphins...To me, every animal is so precious! I loved what one girl said, & it describes me as well. "I didn't choose a cat. The cat choose me."  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

No much difference for me!! August 18, 2005 11:29 AM

First, many thanks to Stephen Wish who let me discover this interesting topic. He's a lovely & friendly Man.

So, what about my heart??... "I love nearly all kinds of Animals, from the biggest to the smallest ones!!! My heart has a very, very big place to each of them!!!"

If I was a millionaire & more, I wouldn't lost time to build a special park to receive all the ones who need a warm home!!!

Honestly, seeing how the Humens'-beings are worst & worst nowadays, do you really think that there's a difference between the Animals & us?? Fot  my part, I dare say that I'll have difficulties to succeed in distinguishing us from them!! I mean that we're not truly better than them!!

In any case, that's one of the reasons why I'm more & more close to the Animals than to the Humen.

Indeed, after reflections, Animals are much more faithfull than "us", they ignore what hypocrisy is, & they seem to understand your pain easier than a Human!! Ok, that's right that they are sometimes as dangerous as the Humen, but yhey are lovely with you most of the time!!

In short, "Animals are NATURAL"!!!

Concerning the pets I got at home, whose ones I nicknamed "my Champions", my nature makes me have a bigger feeling to them than to the Others outside. But however, I consider all Animals as "my Kids"!!

Well, I wish a beautiful evening to all of you, & "Bon Appétit".

I have more than one January 13, 2006 8:58 PM

Greetings!

I have been away for quite a while due to 'puter problems.    Hopefully, those issues have been resolved.

I have several animals of my heart.  First of all, my alter-ego is usually a dragon.  I know, I know - most of you are probably thinking "That's a fantasy creature!"  Perhaps, but it's there, none the less, and is quite persistent.

My other alter ego is the feline, of all kinds...sometimes, it's a domestic house kittie, other times, it may be a lynx, cougar, lion, tiger, cheetah, etc. (you get the picture).

Birds in general, have always played a part in my spiritual life.  But most of all, the crow has always been a strong ancestral tie for me, maternally.  My mother's maiden name, loosely translated from Ukrainian means 'clan of the crow'.

Another animal that has always been strong for me, is the honey bee.  The bee for me has strong ties to my father in particular (long story), but my mother, as well.

On and off throughout my life, the horse has made its presence known to me.  This is tied in with my paternal ancestors who were expert horsemen (my father, included) and were also renown in regions of Ukraine for their excellent horses.

There's another handful of other animals that I have strong spiritual ties with, but the ones I just mentioned have consistently been a part of me, in my heart, soul and mind.

You are very clear in your writing about your animals. Many of us don't know why they are related to any kind of animal, and you know where it comes from.

I was wondering what the dragon means to you in your daily life. And how do you sense him, how does he or she look like? I am looking forward to hear more from you!

You wrote: "I was wondering what the dragon means to you in your daily life. And how do you sense him, how does he or she look like? I am looking forward to hear more from you!"

Mirjam / Little Lioness,

Your questions are very good ones, but I'm not sure I am presently able to answer all of them, clearly.

While growing up, I sensed something different, but was clueless as to what it was. My awareness of what it might be started to evolve over 10 years ago. It's still a work in progress. When I was invited to this group, I started to begin to have a tiny understanding of what 'IT' may be.

When I 1st started to surf the Internet, I wanted to keep my anonymity. So, in some Yahoo and MSN groups (mostly focusing on Nature-based Spirituality), I began to use the name that seemed to fit me - shyDragon (yes, lower case 's' & upper case 'D')...it just came to me so naturally, I didn't even have to think about it.

As shyDragon, she (the dragon) has iridescent golden scales w/a little green, here & there. Her wings are strong even though they are a shimmering translucent gold, outlined w/silver. Her eyes are a deep emerald green. Sometimes, I appear as a human being, other times, I morph into a dragon.

Here is my developing speculation of what my Heart Animal/Alter Ego means to me in my daily life:

 Dragons seem to have a reputation of lurking around in caves, away from the public eye. However, when there is a need to come forward, s/he rises to the occasion.

I certainly can identify with this kind of behavior. As a general rule, my nature tends to lean towards the Introvert's side of the scale. But, when there's a need to, I cross over the middle line to be a temporary (if somewhat reserved) Extrovert, only to slink back afterwards into my 'cave' to regenerate.

 Dragons have a reputation for appreciating fine arts. Without trying to sound like I'm bragging...being a creative/artistic sort, I am able to relate to that.

 Now, we come to a dragon's ability to soar way above the clouds. Although I may not be able to physically fly outside a plane, my imagination and spirit don't seem to have a problem defying the constraints of gravity.

 I'm a Fire sign in the zodiac (Leo), and of course, dragons are associated with the element of Fire because they are well known for 'breathing fire'.

 Generally speaking, I believe that a dragon is a noble creature. Due to a dragon's longevity, s/he observes and learns much & has the opportunity to become wise through experience. Loyalty & honor are extremely important to them.  This is something that I aspire to & hold dear in my own heart.

Hope I have answered some of your Q's.  Thank you for asking them & giving me the opportunity to put in writing what I'm trying to understand.  You have no idea how much this is helping me!

Blessings ' n' Hugs,
Olena / shyDragon

CLEAR! January 15, 2006 2:32 AM

Thank you, Olena, you are very clear! Clearness, of course, brings up other questions ...

It was funny to read how you started on the internet with your nickname: it was exactly the same for me: so obvious it had to be this name!

I read that you are sometimes feeling as if you are the Dragon. I have the same with my Lioness. I can feel her often, but I can also move backwards, as she moves forward: she then is present. I can not often let her of course ... people would get frightened! But Stephen, the co-host of this group 'can handle her'.

In 2005 I have learned a lot about my cub, which now has grown to be a small lioness, because of the development she and I have had. In the past I was completely 'gone' when she was present, and afterwards (when I was back) I could only remember some of the things, not all. The cub could then not understand language. Because of the development, and our 'coming closer', she can use a lot of my abilities .. and I of her! She is learning to use my ability to speak!!!

I was wondering when you feel to be the Dragon: in what kind of situations does that happen. Can you feel yourself as well, or are you 'gone' at that moment. Has there ever been a development, a change?

As you see, I am very curious to hear from you!

Mirjam / Little Lioness

Hey!  I'm a new member in this group, and I just couldn't help but notice what fascinating stories you all have to tell about your animals!

I feel all animals are in my heart, but only those closest and most special to me flow throughout my soul continuously.

The frist animal of my heart, is the cheetah.  Cheetahs are my favorite animal, and so that may be partly why I have such a strong connection with this animal.  I feel the cheetah's speed flow thruogh my body, and people say I even kind of act like one.  Not literally, of course ( I don't go around running on all fours!  LoL ) but even when I eat, I constantly keep an eye out around me like a cheetah, and I get nervous if someone watches me.

Second, there's the bat.  I have incredible hearing like bats, and I often sleep during the day, and I'm awake at night.  By the way do not have insomnia.

Third is the wolf.  I'm part Cherokee indian, but I've always felt a close connection with wolves.

I also have a close connection with bald eagles.  Just as they glide high over the world, so does my spirit soar high and free.

Lastly there's the Dragon.  Notice I capatilize "Dragon".  This is because I feel the Dragon is very high in power and should be greatly respected.  I love dragons, and I can feel my Dragon's strength within me.  Sometimes, in my dreams, I AM my Dragon.  My Dragon is a beautiful shimmering blue, with huge, strong, and powerful wings, and silvery, moonlit eyes.

Sometimes I feel other fantasy creatures in me too, like the Pheonix, and Griffin.

Lastly, geckos are also in my heart.  I stick around places, and people say I'm cool like geckos.  I also have a long tongue.

I'm also like penguins, and my nickname is Penguin.

thank you Rhiannon March 03, 2006 2:24 AM

thank you for your wonderful description of all the animals you have a strong connection with! Great to read how you share some of the behaviours of the Cheetah. My favorite animal is also the Cheetah, even though I am a Lioness, and we lions kill cheetah cubs every now and then .....

The Cheetah is one of my seven animals, it's my guide. It's calm when it is possible, quick up to topspeed when necessary ...

Wolf is one of the animals of Stephen, the co-host.

I wonder how your animals interfere with you in your daily life ... can you write about that? Thanks in advance!

Well, sometimes the animals of my heart do interfere with my everyday life.  Sometimes when I get mad, I can feel for example, the Dragon's strength and anger growing and wanting to resurface in side me, but I try to keep myself calm and let my anger subside.

But it's not always bad, like in p.e. ( because I'm in high school ) when I have to run, I use the cheetah's power.

Well I have to go, but I'll reply later.

HEY!!! :) March 03, 2006 12:23 PM

Hello!! Sorry I had to leave in such a hurry, but as I said, I'm in school and sometimes I'm forced to give up the computer

Anyway, as I was saying before, my animals do interfere with my life, but sometimes I like it. One problem though, is like the cheetah, I'm not exactly the most sociable person Well, I guess I shouldn't say that, because I AM sociable, it's just that sometimes I like being alone more than anything.

I used to think I was the only one with strong connections to certain animals, but it's really cool to now see how a lot of other people do too!

I will always continue to love the animals in my heart, and share their inner strength and power!!

STAY COOL!!!

thanksssssssssss March 03, 2006 1:07 PM

I hope you don't have too many people around you when your Dragon gets loose and breaths fire ... ....

And I understand the way you feel the power of your Cheetah ... I have the same with the Lioness. We are getting more and more connected, and the more I am her and she is me, the more I can use her abilities (and she mine ) Sometimes I'm cycling so hard ... I feel her legs running ..... And like the Lioness, I am someone who wants to live with people around ... not on my own like the Cheetah ...

Lately though, I've also had a strong connection with the hyena ( is that how you spell it???)
Hyenas also kill cheetah cubs, and sometimes "steal" their prey.  My friends sometimes even say I laugh a little like a hyena, and I LOVE to laugh.  It makes you happy and takes away all your troubles!

dolphin, hummingbird, dog June 23, 2006 2:59 AM

Hi all. I'm new here. I feel if I were an animal it would be a dolphin: they're very social, jump for joy, love to sing and help people, and they're free to swim around and go wherever they want. Oh, yes, they're great communicators and very intelligent.  I also like manatees for their gentleness, seals for their silliness, and tropical fish for their beauty and originality     I love hummingbirds: very tiny, they dart and flutter from flower to flower sucking the sweetest nectar we can only dream about. They are independent, fascinating, mysterious and shy, they bring me alot of joy. I love to hear their song. The dog is close to me as well. There is a strong connection here. I feel if I were a dog I'd be part German Shepherd and part Labrodoodle. Dogs generally are very loyal, protective, trustworthy and sincere. They'll follow you anywhere and put your best interests ahead of their own. All they ask for is a pat on the head, a kind word, and to love you unconditionally. They love to look up at you adoringly and feel connected. Their bark is usually much worse than their bite. They only want to please - they're agile and want discipline and order in their world. Thanks. This is great.

- A NATURAL REASON OF MY EXISTENCE - June 23, 2006 4:35 AM

Because of a health problem, I can't have any children of my own NATURALLY... That's one special reason why I consider highly & lovingly the Animals as my children ON ONE HAND, and on the other hand, luckily, I've always had a great deal of pets with me, in my life since I was born untill now, wherever I am...

In response to the question that you asked, Dear Little Lioness, the Animals give me a real reason to keep going on surviving on earth; they mean my life in a way...

HELLO! June 24, 2006 4:14 PM

I just joined too and I am curious... long ago a Cherokee friend knew of close to legit NA sites you can go to in order to learn your animal/ bird/ etc. totem, clan... calling.  I am curious as to whether anyone knows of one?  Normally this is done as most know via the NA ways period.  But now many are branching out even here in ether land to share how to do this.

I am still connected to deer, horse, butterfly, my own part Austrailan Cattle dog "Dave," and Redtail Hawks bigtime.  Okay then.  :o)

Glad you are here!

Thank you for joing the group! I have been away for a while, but I'm happy that people find the group and post while I'm away!

I wonder how you found out which animals are your totemanimals? And how do you relate to them?

Thanks again for posting!

sorry for my ignorance... June 28, 2006 3:52 PM

Nice to know that you're back, Dear Mirjam.

Would you have the kindness to let me understand what do you call an "Animaltotem", please? Many thanks beforehand...

aaaaaaaaa well June 29, 2006 12:47 PM

I just learned the word here on care2! I used the word alter ego for my Lioness when she was a cub, because she was there when I was not. Now I can still do that (or can she???), but I can also be WITH her, and then she can 'talk' to me, like my other animals. Totem has to do with guiding, also with having a meaning for you. I compare my animals (together) with my Inner Me, my Self. I see things more clearer because of them, because of what they tell me.

You told us you have a lot of animals around you, and they give you a reason for living. Do you also have inner animals, in your imagination?

How do you relate to your inner animal(s)?

Love to hear from you!

Mirjam / Little Lioness

THANK YOU SO MUCH, DEAR MIRJAM June 30, 2006 12:32 PM

It's so nice to have such an interesting & wonderful talk with You, Mirjam !! Thank you very much for teaching me better & better about the big & deep Love you feel for your Animals, especially for your  precious Lioness that you call your Animal_Totem.

Aaw!! I'm sorry I'm awfully bad in English in fact. Luckily, I can understand well enough this beautiful language, BUT sometimes... HARDLY all the same.

In response to your question, I only still have 3 dogs, a parrot, 4 other birds & about one hundred red fishes of my own...

Otherwise, I share the same feeling like you, Mirjam, "whoever" the Animal I talk to is: I noticed that the Animal has a very natural sense to understand me everytime I talk to "him" or to "her"!! This one listens to me always keeping his/her eyes on me with a deep feeling!! I truly think that he/she understands my words & my moves perfectly!! That's really MAGICAL... SPECTACULAR!!

Anyway, my Animal_totem is the TIGER!! On one hand because this one is my chinese zodiacal (horoscope), & on the other hand because I'm a too frail person who is always scared of everything in life. For that reason, I've dreamt to find/to have the strength of this fabulous Animal since always... BUT UNFORTUNATELY for me, I'm still too far too succeed in...

Sweet kisses to you, & talk to you sooner, Dear Mirjam.

Tigerrrrrrrrrrrrrr June 30, 2006 12:54 PM

Hoi Tatiana

Thanks for your reply and don't compliment me too much ... I get red!

Lovely to hear from your Tiger! When you are quiet in bed, or meditating, you might be able to talk with him/her. See what he/she has to tell you! I have experienced that the animals have a fantastic wisdom ... that must be somewhere within, for they are within too! But without them I wouldn't be able to reach that wisdom.

It's good that he/she shares his/her strength with you!

hoi! (means bye in Dutch .. also hello .. weird!)

ALL MY SORRIES... July 05, 2006 12:18 PM

I apologize to be back so late to you, my dear Mirjam. I'm now not in a real good mood to talk... Receive all my sorries about this delay, PLEASE.

Right that I have a true & deep Love for almost all kind of Animals, from the biggest to the smallest, BUT the special most precious one of my heart is the Tiger "who" is a kind of "PRINCE" for me!! (not a king 'cos every one knows well that the King of the jungle is the Lion... like your Lioness )

God bless you, & may each of your days be more & more beautiful, Beautiful Friend.

Lots of kisses to you, & take well care of you.

With much love,

Tatiana.

Thank you so much! August 24, 2006 6:50 PM

This thread is what I've been looking for.  The info on Dragon was fabulous.  I've had two Animal Guides that I can recall from my childhood:  Dragon and Horse.  Later, Wolf became known to me, and then Crow.  Dragon and Horse I've been drawn to as far back as I remember.  Wolf came to me in a powerful dream.  I caught a glimpse of Crow in a dream.  Gargoyl is also one of my Animal Guides.

As I watch, Animal Spirits make themselves known to me to help.  For example, when struggling on a decision to do something, Grasshopper came - the whole distance between my office and the pizzaria and back I kept seeing Grasshopper everywhere - and Grasshopper kept jumping at me!  Just the other week I had Worm visit me while I was rock climbing - I've been struggling with some difficult stuff and the wriggly Worm came to me as I picked up Worm off the path, and touched Worm as I reached for a ledge.  I've had friends who have mentioned an animal they saw that grabbed their attention, and I've been able to provide them with interpretations.  One had a ladybug, another a wild turkey.  There's also been sparrows, moths, butterflies, spiders and many more.

I've always felt August 29, 2006 12:42 PM

that the dolphin is my spirit guide.  I'm a Pisces and my element is water.  There is nothing better than immersing myself in a natural body of water...I feel at peace and one with nature.  Even just sitting by the water calms me.  Dolphins are beautiful creatures with such a strong spiritual energy.

I also feel connected with birds, be it my budgie or the pigeons out on the street.  Birds seem so wise to me.

i have noticed the life cycles and intelligence of birds too. we have tame magpies, released show pigeons, kookaburra, etc in our back yard everyday to observe. They became our friends and we put seed and water out for them, bacon scraps for the kookaburra, etc.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Margaret and Sarah September 03, 2006 12:55 PM

Thank you for joining the group and thank you for your posts!

What this topic is about is the meaning of your inner animal or animals in your daily life. Like you, Sarah, say: water makes you calm, and so I think maybe the Dolphin has also something to do with that? Can you feel his / her power inside you?

And Maragret: you describe really amazing how the animals helped you in your daily life. I wonder how the Dragon and Horse have a place in your life?

I look forward to read from you!

to Sande September 03, 2006 12:57 PM

Thank you for your post. I thought you had a connection with a bear, isn't it? Do you relate to more inner animals, or are the birds you described also internal?

Hope you will reply

Mirjam / Little Lioness

 [ send green star]

 September 04, 2006 12:43 PM

Inside it is the bear. The black bear of America i beleive. I have had visions of assistance from such, relate internally to the bear, and find a peace within me when i read about the bear. Something draws me towards the bear for understanding when i am troubled, and to those who also relate to the spirit of the Great Bear. it is as if an inner family i feel connected to it has grown increasingly strong to me since the middle of 2004 when i first began to wonder, and explore the possibilities. the birds are literal, but i have followed their patterns and needs and find an inner relation to them. it is not as strong though, the bear remains the leader and core.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Thank you, Sande, for responding. Did you, or any of the other members of this group, ever hear about the chakras and their connection with animals (or the other way around)?

Maybe we can start a new thread about this subject? But now I'm going to bed!

My silver tipped wolf January 14, 2007 9:22 PM

Hi I am new not just at talkin' to you all but also with computers so please excuse my mistakes.  When I was a small child my animal of my heart and soul started to visit me.  Mostly in my dreams or when I was sad.  I would talk to him.  Still do.  He is a silver tipped male wolf and he always managed to chase my fears away.  Still does.  My parents said they first realized that I was talking to an animal when I was about 2 yrs. old.  He has never left me and I have always called him Wolf--my wolf.  I have been around animals most of my life. Some wild that needed my help.

Sincerely, T.J.

Wolf January 15, 2007 9:48 AM

Hello Thyra

Thank you very much for joining, and posting! I was very happy to read that you also, like me, have had this animal with you since you were very young. I wonder how your parents reacted to it, to you. My only know about my Little Lioness which I had since I was about 7, since I was 38 .. that is one year ago! And my father said, that if he had known this when I was a child, he would have sent me to a psychiatrist! (And he added: he would want to do that now, but he doesn't have that much influence on me anymore!)

I also would like to know how you sensed him: did you see him, smell him, touch him, hear him? And did you feel him outside of you, or inside? Or did you shapeshift (change into Wolf yourself)?

Thanks in advance for answering ...!

love and light!

Place of animals in your heart. February 17, 2007 12:38 AM

Dear Lioness, all this talk reminds me of a dear friend of mine, she was 1/2 Cherokee and a beautifrul person inside and out. She passed away in December. She and I used to talk about stuff like this and she was about to tell me what my animal totum was but she didn't have a chance. My Dakota name is Wakinyelaska( wah keen ya lah skah} White Dove in english, given to me by a Cherokee shaman here in Arkansas. I do love doves but don't relate to them as much as I do the tiger. I never thought of talking to my tiger, never thought imagining I had one as a close friend. I volunteer at a wildlife refuge that has tigers and my spirit soars when I'm with them even though I feel heart broken they are there,if I can say that here. Can you teach more of what you are talking about here?  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

to Tammy and Sophia February 19, 2007 10:23 AM

Wonderful to hear from you, new people in this group.

I read, Tammy, that you have a relationship with Tigers for longer. I wonder how they behave when you think of them, or what they do to make you things clear. Please try this out by meditating or just before you go to sleep: when you feel silence inside, there is a good chance that your inner self in the form of your totem animal(s) might talk to you. Please ask what they want, for they know very well what is important for you, as they are you.

And Sophia, I really would love to hear from you how you form your relationship with the white dove, such a beautiful animal ...

I hope you will post and please feel free to ask whatever you want to!

Love, light and lots of laughter

Mirjam / Little Lioness (though she's a full grown Lioness now ...)

What Place does the animal of your have? February 19, 2007 11:03 AM

I sent an earlier email but had some problems with the server hopefully it will come through later. Meditation is a hard thing to do. My mind is always full but not enough that I don't have time to think of my precious tigers.I have Indian and Asian music I listen to which does help to calm the chaotic spirit, which at this time I usually use it to study. Thank you so much dear Lioness, I will try what you said and see what happens. The tigers I have here hanging on my wall all have names but I have one particular one that is a white bengal and when I look at him/her it seems her head and eyes follow me every where, her name is India and she always smiles. I talk talk to her, sometimes pokeing fun because she does follow me,but she's precious. Tammy  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

What is the place of the animal of your heart in your life February 19, 2007 11:15 AM

one more thing. I do have a special relationship with my tigers, I call them mine even though they really don't belong to me but the refuge where I volunteer. They chuff at me and rub against the enclosures greeting me when I come in. They know I love them, all of them and we have over 50. There is one really special one named Kenny, he is a victim of inbreedinging and so is his brother Willie, both have birth defects but I love them. Jerry also is a victim of an abusive owner before he came to us. He had a broken leg and it had to be amputated. We take in Lions, tigers and all sort of wildlife that come from, neglected, abusive and ignorant homes. Most,if not all of our animals have something wrong with them and that makes them special to me, but tigers of all animals are my favorite.

Place in your heart February 20, 2007 7:11 PM

dear Lioness, I did as you said last night while listen to my Zen music and guess what, the golden eagle came to me but said nothing. I held out me arm to him and he came and softly smiled but like I said before he didn't say anything. It seems like I can feel him here right now but I still need time to get deeper since this is all new to me. Could use some suggestions.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

HELLO AGAIN!! May 07, 2007 11:04 AM

Dear Little L, Tatiana and All,

Sorry I too have been away for a very long time.

What's curious is in my quest to simplify my life [after moving from Colorado to Arizona and now to Austin] I find myself here!  You see, I had it in my head to avoid C2 yet there is much good here, eh?  <Yes, I did reside in Michigan for awhile...

Okay, our totems and clans are from our Native American ancestors along with our animal brothers and sisters...  <this is my wording only so please filter your own spirit through the reading.

Albeit no one is confirming w/in family, I came into the world an 'indian.'  Thus my deep connection to animals vs. two leggeds.

You see, before I knew of the Native American culture I dreamed 'Pow Wows, fry bread (yum), the beading/ feather/ leather/ horse/ tipi/ music/ drumming/ rattle/ respect and honor of all life/ respect for elders/ the importance of the buffalo/ any bird-animal, etc., visit (repeat or not) having meaning.......'

I remember being in my 8th grade 'Social Studies' class when our teacher literally snuck some books in that had our True Americans in em!  I started yelling "I know this!  This is me!  Where are they?  This is my family!  This is where I belong.... etc.,   <<<the only thing that saved me was the family I came from (my Mom is an actress and Dad was highly respected...) or without a doubt I would have been put away for a time, eh?

Regardless, I knew and recognized all and thus my animal connection was brought to voice...  I have the deepest to many but mostly the horse, deer, whale, hawk, eagle, cardinal, butterfly and yes, 'robins.'  :o)

When 'studying' with my Cherokee friend and Apache and Navajo friends since, I have learned more of these connections.  They are a sacred gift.

Okay... enough rambling for now.  I hope this thread comes alive again.

In Deepest Respect for All Life,    robin

i have been trying to find my spirit animal for many years. one time i had a dream where i was a wild mustang captured off the range and my heart was yearing for freedom and the joy of my herd.
after that i thought my spirit animal was a wild mustang but then i had another dream where i was running faster than i had ever run before after a shadow. i didn't know why i was but i was drawn to it. finally the shadow stopped and so did i. the shadow materialized into a wolf and touched noses with me and then i realized i was a wolf.

i don't know which dream to listen to, to believe. i felt them both so strongly.

Dream June 12, 2007 9:30 PM

You can have many animals that will guide you through your life at different times and to teach you different things. This is not unusual for people. Each animal brings different thoughts and energies to the table, each opens a different door, and each door is unlocked with a different key. there is much inside you and inside your heart, you have a long path to travel, these animals are your guides and companions along the way. Enjoy what they bring, bask in their presence, they are a gift not all get to enjoy. let them come to you. Some dreams are visions. Pangaya Wolf Rescue  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

everything was black and quiet and nothing felt right. then my wolf came to me and so did my mustang. they did not look at me but they looked at each other. my mustang said a challenging neigh and they started battling. at the close of my dream the mustang was laying on her side with gashes bleeding furiously. the wolf stood near her. i know  this cannot mean anything good, but that's all i know.

if there is any animal that really, truly love with all or most of you heart then that is your spirit animal. there might be more than one but if you look for it you possibly may never find it. for all you know your spirit animal may be one you have never heard about before but it's probably an animal that you think about a lot.

 August 20, 2007 5:37 PM

Hehe, i sorda feel silly for writing this, however I'm amazed at how many other people have this experience. For years I would drift away into my mind to the animal connected to my soul and then feel like a dork when my teachers would tell us to do something and i would still be in my seat daydreaming. Ah, i love all critters but i have a few favorites. In fact I wish to become a zoologist and specialize with bigcats, deer/antelope, and sea turtles. However, most and foremost I am a huge cat lover from the domestic house cat to the African Lion (my favorite animal). One of these precious felines is the animal of my heart, though i don't really feel like it is only the animal of my heart. I feel more as if you would pull out my soul, it would not be human at all but the animal that I feel connected with. This animal is truely special to me and in fact no longer exists. I know this will sound unbeleivable, but I have seen this creature in my mind ever since I was a little girl way before I even knew it once existed. A great white smilodon is what you would find if you caught a glimpse of my soul, however she is far more personalized than your average smiledon. As a little girl, i could slip into my dreams and marvle at this huge whit beast. I had no clue what this animal was but called her my funny looking kitty. If you don't know what a smilodon looks like, I will tell you. Most people think they look quite odd but I think they were beautiful. They were very muscular big cats with huge dagger shapped teeth and back legs shorter than the front. And indeed that was the creature I saw in my mind daily, she even had a bobbed tail and thumbs on her front paws. Smilodons have those same adaptions, i just found out yesterday that they had the extra toes. That's because even though that is the animal of my heart, i never researched them one bit, i allready felt like I knew them so why bother. The only difference between my girl and your average smilodon is that mine is as big as a horse, with a gorgeous white coat, a bit of golden fur here and there, and steel blue eyes. The reason for that is because I don't feel like we are seperate entities but one in the same. So i guess that's how I imagine I would look like as a smilodon. At night I love to go outside and walk around my woods and daydream (i would be creeped out but whenever I daydream my body is on autopilot, nearly got run over once, hehe). I imagine that I am no longer trapped by a feeble human body, but I'm running free, as fast as the wind in the magestic body of my smilodon. I just run and run for hours. When I'm in that state of mind I feel like I could take on the world. I also feel like the protector of all Earth's critters and sometimes I daydream of pouncing out of my human skin into the agile body of my smilodon just to terrorize in the middle of the night any unlucky person I came upon that was doing wrong. Well I feel like quite a dork for writing all that but I wish I could write more, however I'm babysitting and my baby sister is being a terror, and the phone won't stop ringing. Ah, how I wish to be as free as the wind,.......and free of babysitting and ringing phones.
