How do you know... March 02, 2005 1:57 PM

...what the animal of your heart is?

Thank you.

Yeah March 03, 2005 1:13 AM

I was wondering that too.  I absolutely love rats, but I relate very closely to a lot of other animals too.  How do I know which it is?  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

hmmmm March 03, 2005 1:18 AM

i was thinking that it would be an animal that you feel really passionate about, or care about. it doesnt have to be just one.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

There seems to be a mix of ways to choose your animal, from what I've read in other postings.... some have the animals appear to them in dreams, others are just passionate about the species.

Is there a general rule for this, or is it whatever appeals most to you? There are a lot of animal species that I admire and love, but I don't quite understand the rest...

Finding the Animal of Your Heart March 13, 2005 5:37 PM

there is a learning process to go through - Jessica, my spiritual mentor, runs day long workshops to help people discover the animal of their heart: it usually has nothing to do with a particular animal that they love, but an animal, or animals, will appear to them. The work is based around guided meditation and her own story (she has written a book called 'The Elephant & the 9 Year Old Girl')and then creative activities to explore further the new relationship with your animals. Presently she only runs these workshops in London, but if enough from another area would like to experience a workshop with her, I'm sure there would be a way to arrange it! Let me know love n' harmony  [ send green star]

Animal Spirits March 15, 2005 3:47 AM

People can try meditating...clearing your mind of thoughts and just sending out the "intention" that you want to meet your guides and then seeing what comes to you.  I agree that it's not always an animal that we feel a special connection to. Also, there are some that will stay with us all our lives and some that are only there for a while to teach us a lesson we need (sort of like people. lol)

I always recommend that someone try to connect with their spirit animals without someone else's influence, but if you feel the need for someone else to either help you find them...or to interpret what an encounter means...I believe that David Carson (co-author of the Medicine Cards) is doing phone consultations now.  And he really knows his stuff.  You can find out thru his website. http://www.medicinecards.com/  (He also published a journal type book that one can use to help with this sort of thing.)

Nice thought! Unfortunately I'm not in the UK to make use of such a service (unless it's available at a distance through email or something).  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Mel March 15, 2005 11:15 AM

Thanks for that info, Mel. My mom has a set of Medicine Wheel cards, I think, so I'll have to borrow them and see if I can discover anything.

Phone consultations? Are they expensive?

Maybe I'll try meditating over it during my yoga practice this week...

The animal in your heart March 17, 2005 3:12 PM

If you resonate strongly with a particular animal or animals.. If you collect items of that particular animal, even when you are dreaming of animals they have a message and a lesson for you. I just know because I sense a connection and a strong affinity for that animal, and sometimes that also shifts and changes because new lessons are to be learned.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

For me  it was a case of narrowing down 2-3 possibles. This followed by a special experience.I have a MAIN animal (bear) but have also minor temporary connections, currently to two beuatiful show pigeons that came from nowhere and adopted our yard as there new home. They were a bit shabby and starving... they are now well fed thanks to my son and I, and have made a home on our roof. They have been there for me in a difficult time i went thru earlier this year, when i was stressed, hurt, troubled. They have brought us peace and friendship. It is also something to bring my son and I together, as he is currently 14 and loosing topics in common.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Sande March 21, 2005 4:11 PM

Thank you for sharing your story.  Sometimes the reasons for certain animals coming into our lives seems a little obscure and at other times it's amazing to me how clear the lessons seem.  When I think of pigeons, the first thing that comes to mind is "communication"  (humans have used "carrier pigeons" to communicate for hundreds, if not thousands, of years).  So, just when you and your son are reaching those teen years when communication is so difficult...what should come into your life to help bring you together!?  Fits, huh?

How do you know September 15, 2007 5:38 PM

The tiger is part of me and I part of them. when working at Turpentine Creek the way they greet me every morning...it's like i am part of their family as they are of mine. They come up to me in their enclosure, rub against them and chuff their greetings.  I once went to a website that asked how many of the characterist of a tiger you can identify with I could with all of them. I can also identify with the extinction because I too am the last of my line,as far as family goes. I hope it's alright to say that and please don't take it wrong. I plan to live a good long time and I'll do anything in my power to see they do too.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

tigerrrrrrr September 16, 2007 4:06 AM

Hello Tammy

Thank you for your post ... great that you feel so connected with these tigers! I was wondering if you can communicate with them, in real life or in spiritual life? Do you have a tiger as a spiritual guide as well? What does he or she mean to you?

Thanks again and hopefully till soon!

ask her September 17, 2007 4:23 AM

Dearest Tammy

Thank you so much for your reply! You are so priviliged to have this Tiger with you, and have her taking you to places of peace!

In the years I have spent with Lioness and the other animals that are guiding me, I have learned that they are a part of me, where I can't really get to be. I mean: they are my subconsiousness, but very much a part of me. Somebody who is helping others find their animals, has taught me the importance of asking this question: "What can I do for you?". The animals always respond in their own way, and sometimes it is not very clear, but one gets a lot of hints. It is most important to understand that the question you are asking is to YOURSELF, for this animal represents a part of you. Please try this and see what this beauty of yours answer. Listen carefully and give something to her, while you take time to do something with the answer she gave you. My Lioness often wants a lot of stroking I'm looking forward to your experiences with your Tiger Love and purrrrrrrrrrrrs Mirjam / Little Lioness

Tiger Love September 18, 2007 4:18 PM

How do you know October 01, 2007 4:35 PM

I apologise Dear Lioness for not putting anything on the message board, I have been so busy here. The tigers are doing wonderfully well since I have been away, but I feel their spirits with me everyday. Unfortunitly I lost one of my beloveds a few days ago of cancer and wished I could have been with him in his last moments. It's strange but I feel his presence with me and wonder if he is the one who is with me all the time and I may have misinterpreted his presence- thinking he was a she. His name was or is Thunder;beatiful Bengal Tiger.

Some nights I feel myself surrounded by my spirit friends in which I never find myself alone. But when it's just him and me at night I am comforted by his presence and can literally feel his warmth. Here lately it's been really stressful and sleep used to not come easily but when Thunder is here I lay my head on his body I can hear the faint sound of a heartbeat as I listen to my Indian music. He will cuddle really close and I sleep such a peaceful sleep. Just before I sleep I can feel myself being taken to places that are so quiet and peaceful, a quiet waterfall or a rippling stream as warm sunlight spills down on us. It's wonderful. He doesn't speak at least not verbally;it's heart to heart.

How do my tigers act when I'm not there; I think they're happy, but I've been told they miss me if I'm not there. I am the only one that can calm them if they are upset and they don't respond as well with others, even when someone else is taking care of them. I love them and I guess they know that.

Perhaps you can tell me what this all may mean sometime.

I do give Thunder alot of attention. I think my family thinks I have flipped out,but I love doing it. I too stroke his neck, pat him on the back and feel rub against me. Which is what he would have done in life had he had the oportunity to do so. (We weren't allowed to touch any of the tigers.) But he could only rub against the bars of his enclosure. I can now give him the attention he wanted in life.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Yes........................ October 01, 2007 7:47 PM

I too, feel the animal of your heart is the one who comes to you the most.  Who is ALWAYS in your orbit, your zone. The one animal who is always talking to you and you feel you understand what they are saying most (if not all) of the time! I feel we have bugs of the heart, too.

Thank you October 03, 2007 5:16 AM

Thank you, Karen and Tammy, for your posts.

Funny to read that your she might be a he ... I have had this the same way. Sometimes the other way around, and sometimes I just don't know what gender an animal has. Sometimes it doesn't seem to matter.

I was wondering if you, Karen, have a specific animal, and if so, how he or she is relating to you.

Tammy, I am sorry to hear that the tiger has passed away, and I am happy to read he's with you. I can understand why people are supposed to have no fysical contact with the tigers, like rubbing and stroking, but sometimes it's just a shame, when you feel so related to them.

Have a good time with them, in daytime or at night, in live or in spirit.

Mirjam / Little Lioness

He is a beauty indeed. I love cats too,all cats.  My family and I have four fur buddies. All four were cats that weren't wanted. My spiritual buddy passed away a few weeks ago but Thunder's spirit is with me whereever I go. He's my tiger buddy that I took care of at Turpentine Creek Animal Rescue. He passed away from many ailments complicated by old age. He was 20 years old.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Animal of your heart October 26, 2007 8:31 PM

For me, it is the Mustelid Putorious Furo..the ferret. I am in ferret rescue here in Australia and, even though I have a strong connection with all animals, I have a very strong bond with the ferrets. I have 6 of my own as well as many rescues and cruelty cases. My life would be nothing without them.

Hello Sharon and Susan

Thank you for joining the group and for posting. It seems to me that many people feel related to animals they know from their real lifes. How do you feel about connecting with the spirits of the animals? Does one of them offer you guidance, comfort, or whatever?

My Lioness offers me play, mostly. I fell very happy to have her around / or sometimes I feel I've lost myself and she's taken over! I can easily forget the responsibilities of normal life then, so it's good that I only have her around when my 2 children are not with me!

love and lots of laughter

Mirjam / Little Lioness (who's not that little anymore: she's fully grown now!)
