"A Moment for Our Mothers" May 01, 2007 12:35 PM

“ A Moment for Our Moms”

I would like to ask that we all take just a moment from our busy days to think about our Mothers. Whether they are here with us, or they have passed on to that place of eternal life….

Once we have done this… I would like to ask that we take another moment to just say a little something about that special woman who has made us who we are today, because if it had not been for her….  I know that I would be a very different person…. maybe one who is not so caring of those in my own life.

Thank You for your time,

In Buddha’s Light,

Dennis F. Stanton

In Loving Memory of My Mother

Barbara Marie Hebbard

You have asked that we take a moment to say something about our Mothers’.

So on this day, I am going to try in the best way that I can to tell you about my Mom.

I have not spoken about my mom in many years, because of how difficult it is for me to say those things that I never said about her. The things that I could have done in the time that I had with her, before she left me behind, with only her memory.

My Mom, gave birth to 18 children. Four of those who past away before I ever knew them. And one that I only had the pleasure of knowing for less that one year. There are 13 Brothers and Sisters in my Family. Then there is myself. Within this large Family, I am the only one to have been adopted.

She gave me the life that mine would not. She gave me all that a Mother could offer a child. She gave me the chance that a child should have. My Mother taught me about the things that most children never get. She show me the Beauty of  Opera. She gave me the knowledge of Literature. She gave me the opportunity to know what is was like to see Live Theater. She gave me the Family that I so wanted.

It has been 10 years since the last time that I saw my Mother, and yet even today, trying to write this, I still cry for all that I never gave back to her that she so freely gave to me.

I wish that my Mother could have seen the Man that I have grown into. I wish that she could have meet my Wife and more so been able to attend my Wedding. That she could have seen my Son, if only just once before he joined her in everlasting peace.

It has been ten years since I have allowed myself to think about Mothers Day.

So; to those of you who still have your Mothers with you, I would only ask you to do the one thing that I wish that I could have done more often than I myself had not done nearly as much as I did.

Everyday, you should tell her how much you Love her. How much she means to you, and that without her, you would not be the person that you are today. Tell her she has given to you, without an expectation of anything in return. Give her that Hug that she so deserves, Everyday. Let her know that you Love her for everything that she has given you. Because a day will come, when you will not be able to tell her these things.

Any woman can give birth to a child, but it takes a special person to be a Mother.

To My Mother, I say I loved you with all that I had.

Happy Mother Day to My Mother,

Barbara Marie Hebbard.
