Iceland moss is rich in calcium, iodine, potassium, phosphorous, and vitamins.
- Used in Scandinavia as a famine food and bread additive.
- Has been used to treat coughs, tuberculosis, fevers, and scurvy.
- It has traditionally held an important place in Chinese medicine.
- Has also been used as a source of antibiotics.
- Used widely in herbal medicine for various ailments and as a tonic.
- One of the few lichens consumed by humans. A powder made from dried C.islandica can be boiled to yield a jelly used in soups in northern Europe. The powder is also used in breads and cereals.
- Lichens widely used as indicators of air pollution or air quality. Cetraria islandica exhibits an intermediate sensitivity to sulfur dioxide and to fluoride, and may be useful as an indicator of high concentrations of these chemicals. Lichens, including C. islandica, also absorb radioactive fallout.
- Iceland moss came into its own at the height of the world-wide incidence of tuberculosis when it was believed that this lichen killed or, at any rate, inhibited the development of the tubercle bacillus. Today it is still taken as a remedy for a range of bronchial conditions including respiratory catarrh, bronchitis and asthma, as well as being used as an agent in the battle against the debilitating gastro-enteritis.
- The plant makes a nourishing food but must be boiled for a long time to rid it of its bitterness. As a food it is a particularly helpful boost to people suffering from malnourishment and debility. A note of warning. In excessive doses or with prolonged use, Iceland moss can cause gastric irritation and liver problems.

HERBS!
Herbs are not drugs, they are FOOD. "Let food by thy medicine and medicine be thy food," declared Hippocrates, the father of Modern Medicine himself!
Herbs are the natural source of all food...Whether we eat meat or not, or food ultimately comes from the plants. Why not eat purposefully and go straight to the ultimate source?
And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. ~Genesis 1:29
I'm not sure what happened to A,B,C,D and E...but G follows F, and God covers it All, Best, Creatively, Divinely and Evermore, so that's GOOD. (God is good!)
The healing power that created all...in the best possible way...with the divine spark that will last evermore...this is the power to HEAL! (oh...i'm getting off into H now!)
What do we believe in? Do we believe God has the power or do we only believe in what money will buy? Do we believe God's power is limitless, or do we believe it is cut short by the economy's rule? Don't let money be the reason that you don't heal....God's power goes beyond dollars and cents!!!

A lot of people tell me they don't need to use any herbs because they are not sick. Herbs promote wellness, as does laughter, food, water and so many other things that we need to feel our best, even when we are not sick. Oftentimes when people try adding more of these wellness components into their lives when they are not sick, they find out how much better they really can feel!

TONIC - A substance that strengthens and revitalizes. Used for weakened conditions of the body or specific organs, tonics are remedies with a general anabolic effect, building up and strengthen organs and tissues, often causing great structural density or greater functional strength.
English proverb: 'He that would live for aye, Must eat Sage in May.'
Kitchen Sage: Sage Tea or infusion of Sage is a valuable agent in the delirium of fevers and in the nervous excitement frequently accompanying brain and nervous diseases and has considerable reputation as a remedy, given in small and oft-repeated doses. It is highly serviceable as a stimulant tonic in debility of the stomach and nervous system and weakness of digestion generally. It was for this reason that the Chinese valued it, giving it the preference to their own tea. It is considered a useful medicine in typhoid fever and beneficial in biliousness and liver complaints, kidney troubles, haemorrhage from the lungs or stomach, for colds in the head as well as sore throat and quinsy and measles, for pains in the joints, lethargy and palsy. It will check excessive perspiration in phthisis cases, and is useful as an emmenagogue. A cup of the strong infusion will be found good to relieve nervous headache. The dried leaves have been smoked in pipes as a remedy for asthma.
The fresh leaves, rubbed on the teeth, will cleanse them and strengthen the gums. Sage is a common ingredient in tooth-powders.
CLARY SAGE: Antispasmodic, balsamic, carminative, tonic, aromatic, aperitive, astringent, and pectoral
In Jamaica, where the plant is found, it was much in use among the negroes, who considered it cooling and cleansing for ulcers, and also used it for inflammations of the eyes. A decoction of the leaves boiled in coco-nut oil was used by them to cure the stings of scorpions. Clary and a Jamaican species of Vervain form two of the ingredients of an aromatic warm bath sometimes prescribed there with benefit.
VERVAIN SAGE: The Wild English Clary, or Vervain Sage, is a native of all parts of Europe and not uncommon in England in dry pastures and on roadsides, banks and waste ground, especially near the sea, or on chalky soil. It is a smaller plant than the Garden Clary, but its medicinal virtues are rather more powerful.
---'A decoction of the leaves,' says Culpepper, 'being drank, warms the stomach, also it helps digestion and scatters congealed blood in any part of the body.'
Rubefacient - Produces redness of the skin; generates a localized increase in blood flow when applied to the skin, helping healing, cleansing and nourishment. These are often used to ease pain and swelling of arthritic joints. Capsicum (Cayenne) is an example of this kind of herb.
Quinsy - Pus-discharging inflammation of tonsils. (Ewwwwwww!!!)

P.S. Rich...the pH I was talking about was the reading you get in your urine or saliva, not in your soil. It's different.
Hello All:
I have traveled all around the world. I look for natural things to help specific remidies.
When I went to Vietnam last year. I discovered a Chinese/S Asian fruit called GO CHI ZI or GOJI in the Himalyan area.
This fruit is grown naturally around the China sea costal areas as well as near the Himalaya range.
It is reported to help with vision. There are many other uses also. but I primarly wanted to use it for my eyesight.
The doses vary with the person but since I am big and tall I take about 1/4 cup 2 x daily. It is best when eaten fresh.(or reasonably so) You can look for it in Chinatown or go online and search for this. It has also been taken as a liquid .I have seen it bottled. But I prefer putting in my tea.
Since I have taken this.(I prefer to take in Chyrsanthemum tea-also an eyesight helper) My eye doctor has confirmed that I went from 20/200 in the left eye and 20/150 in the right to: 20/100 left eye and 20/80 right eye. I cannot contribute this to any other thing that I was taking.
They could not belive this!! But it goes to show Natural foods win again!!
Cheers
RObert M.
The pH reading measures the number of hydrosl (OH-) ions which are negative and alkaline-forming as opposed to the amount of hydrogen (H+) ions that are positive and acid forming. It is a measure of electrical resistance between negative and positive ions in the body.
As stated in the text, Alkalize or Die
- An alkaline-forming reaction refers to any chemical alteration in the body that produces an increased ability to energize the system and leaves an alkaline residue in the urine.
- An acid-forming reaction refers to any chemical alteration in the body that produces a decreased ability to energize the system and leaves an acid residue in the urine.
It is extremely important to overall health to maintain a proper pH. In fact, if our body chemistry is too acid, the result could be death, so the body does everything to maintain the pH that it can, including sacrificing it's own minerals to buffer a too-acid pH. To avoid depletion of important minerals such as sodium and calcium from within the system, efforts should be made to eat a diet that is conducive to proper pH.
In general, meats, dairy products, eggs, grains, alcohol, soda pop, and coffee are acid forming, whereas most fruits and vegetables are alkaline forming within the system. A general proportion of 80% alkalinizing foods should be in the diet, with only 20% of the diet being composed from the acid forming selections. Fats are neutral, and should be included to help neutralize an over-acidic diet.

HOW TO READ THE NEW ORGANIC LABELS
created by the Organic Trade Association
October 21, 2002 marked the first day that organic farmers and processors began usin the new USDA seal. Use of the seal is voluntary, but US regulations do establish requirements for the use of the word organic on food and other agricultural products Those regulations will result in labeling changes as organic food products currently on the shelves are used up. Requirements include verification from a certification agency as meeting or exceeding USDA standards. Farmers who gross less than $5000 from organic products and sell direct to consumers or retailers are exempt from the certification requirement. Those farmers may call their product organic, but they can't use the new USDA seal.
As promised by USDA, the regulations:
- prohibit the use of irradiation, sewage sludge, or genetically modified organisms in organic production;
- reflect NOSB recommendations concerning items on the national list of allowed synthetic and prohibited natural substances;
- prohibit antibiotics in organic meat and poultry; and
- require 100% organic feed for organic livestock.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) approved four categories of organic labels, based on the percentage of organic content. Look for these new organic labels which will start to appear on store shelves as of October 21, 2002:
1. 100 Percent Organic - may carry new USDA Organic Seal
2. Organic - at least 95% of content is organic by weight (excluding water and salt) and may carry the new USDA Organic Seal.
3. Made With Organic - at least 70% of content is organic and the front product panel may display the phrase "Made with Organic" followed by up to three specific ingredients. (May not display new USDA Organic seal)
4. Less than 70 % of content is organic and may list only those ingredients that are organic on the ingredient panel with no mention of organic on the main panel. (May not display new USDA Organic seal)
N.E.A.T. - Nerve Energy Alignment Technique
This procedure is designed to allow for improved communication between the para-sympathetic of the sacrum and the para-sympathetic of the cranium nerves.
Nerves control muscles, and muscles control the skeletal system. "The nervous system controls and coordinates all organs and structures of the human." (Gray's Anatomy)
Misalignment of spinal vertebrae and discs may cause irritation to the nervous system and affect the structures, organs, and functions which may result in many, many conditions normally seen strictly as organic problems, but which in fact, are the result of spinal misalignment.
N.E.A.T. is a body normalizing technique which works to organize communication and release emotional trauma, as well as relieving physical pain. This is a very effective technique which is easy to learn, and it requires no equipment.

Licorice Root has been used as a laxative; to adjust blood sugar, reduce pain from ulcer & arthritis. Do not use if you have hypertension, hypokalemia edema, cirrhosis of the liver, cholestatic liver disorder, & diabetes. We did get a message that chewing liquorice root has been most helpful in giving up smoking as it gives the hands something to do & has the shape/texture of a cigarette. Also it tastes like tobacco (because cigarettes are flavored with licorice).
Used for generations in China, ancient Greece & the British Isles, Licorice is cultivated around the world. The sweet taste of its yellow root prompted its use in the manufacture of candies. It contains vitamin E, B-complex, biotin, niacin, pantothenic acid, lecithin, manganese & other trace elements. Although Licorice has been used as a flavoring for hundreds of years, many people don't know that it also has very beneficial medicinal qualities. Licorice root has gained a reputation for strengthening the body during times of stress. Since the 14th century, Licorice has been used to soothe coughs, colds & bronchitis. It can be made into a licorice extract, concentrate or infusion, It is still used for these reasons today and it is one of the ingredients found in many European cough preparations. Research has shown that Licorice helps treat & relieve the pains that accompany certain types of ulcers. Although common practice in Europe, its use in treating ulcers is not as prevalent in North America. However, with more and more researchers gaining positive results with its use as an ulcer treatment, Licorice may soon become more popular in North America. Finally, Licorice also has anti-inflammatory properties & may therefore help relieve the discomforts that accompany arthritic conditions.
Licorice: (Liquorice) (Glycyrrhiza glabra)- What is it?
Licorice is a botanical, a shrub native to southern Europe & Asia, the roots of which have 2 primary desirable qualities: first, some varieties of licorice root are 50 times sweeter than sugar & may be chewed or eaten as a sweet & making it a useful component of candies and flavorings; second, licorice has been for thousands of years sought after for its reputed medicinal qualities. Licorice grows wild in southern central Europe and Asia. It is used for its roots and its rhizomes (underground stems). Glycyrrhizic acid is extracted from the root and used as a flavoring in food, tobacco, alcohol, & cosmetics.
What are these beneficial medicinal qualities claimed for licorice?
It has proven useful in the treatment of coughs, where it serves a mild expectorant, & of sore throats, where its soothing properties bring relief. Licorice increases the production of protective mucus in the stomach, & may reduce the acid secretion, making it a useful treatment of inflammatory stomach conditions.
Common Uses?
In the confectionery industry, water extracts of licorice roots are mixed with sugar, corn syrup and flour to make many types of licorice candy. In the U.S., however, anethole, a major constituent in the anise plant, is a popular substitute-flavoring agent for licorice. Licorice is also commonly used as a sweetening/flavoring agent to counteract the unpleasant taste of many drugs or added as filler in capsules. In the United Kingdom liquorice (syn. licorice) is used as an emulsifier to create foam in drinks and alcoholic beverages. Licorice root can be chewed or made into tea. It is frequently found in cough preparations and candies, often combined with anise seed. Consumption of licorice is believed to aid in healing stomach ulcers. Tea made from licorice and other anti-spasmodic herbs is often taken for menstrual cramps.
Native to Asia and Mediterranean region. Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra) in the family Leguminosae is a tall shrub (4–5 feet) having blue or violet flowers. Most commercial licorice is extracted from varieties of G. glabra. The most common variety, G glabra var. typica (Spanish

It is incorrect to say it is a diagnostic practice...it mearely gives indications of nutritional weaknesses in the various organs, so these nutritional needs can be supplied. It indicates blockages in energy, too, which may in turn be relieved through various naturopathic techniques.

Jasmine
Jasmine is known in India as the "Queen of the Night" because of it's intoxicating perfume that is released at night.
In Chinese medicine Jasmine flowers are known to "cool" the blood and have a strong antibacterial, antiviral, and anti-tumor properties. Because they cool the blood they help with reducing a fever or cooling an overheated person (from the sun) .
Jasmine has astringent properties which aids in treating inflamed eyes and skin, and as a gargle to relieve sore throats and mouth ulcers.
Jasmine is used in aromatherapy to calm the emotions, and as an aphrodisiac. It is a valuable remedy in cases of depression because is produces a feeling of confidence , optimism and euphoria. It revitalizes and restores the balance of energy.
Jasmine is used in teas, herbal bathes, skin creams, soaps and potpourri. It is also used as a decorative touch to special dishes.

Ginger

An ancient Indian proverb states that everything good is found in ginger. We wouldn't go quite that far — it's certainly no substitute for electricity, friendship or chocolate frozen yogurt — but we have to admit, there's quite a bit you can do with this versatile healing herb. Besides putting the zip in your stir-fry, here's how to use ginger to treat a number of common ailments.
Try Ginger if:
- Your stomach is sloshing and churning like an overstuffed washing machine. Whether you've got heartburn, abdominal cramps or a queasy stomach, a soothing cup of ginger is the herbalist's stomach remedy of choice. Ginger contains compounds similar to the digestive enzymes found in your digestive tract, which may help you digest a heavy, protein-rich meal more easily. Ginger is particularly effective for motion sickness: In fact, studies show it's even more effective than the prescription drug Dramamine. To head off motion sickness, most herbalists recommend ginger capsules, sold at any health food store. The standard dosage is 1500 milligrams, taken about 30 minutes before you hit the road, air or high seas.
- You're eating for two — but can barely keep down enough food for one. Ginger is a time-tested remedy for morning sickness; generations of expectant moms have found that a cup of ginger tea first thing in the morning can make breakfast a whole lot more appealing. If you'd prefer something cold, a glass of ginger ale also delivers the herb's stomach-soothing compounds. (Just read the label to make sure your brand has no artificial flavorings — if it does, it probably contains little or no real ginger.)
- You watch HDL and LDL the way other people watch ABC and NBC. If you're waging your own personal war on cholesterol, here's another weapon to add to your arsenal: Studies suggest that ginger can be useful in keeping cholesterol levels under control. Scientists still have a lot to learn about how and why ginger works, but in the meantime, you might want to try sipping a few cups of ginger tea throughout the day, in addition to exercising, watching your diet and following your doctor's advice. If you're concerned about cholesterol, a remedy this cheap, safe and pleasant to use is worth trying.
- Cold and flu germs have declared open season, and you've got a target on your back. Chinese herbalists have used ginger for generations to treat colds and flu, and modern studies confirm that ginger helps kill the influenza virus and helps the immune system wage war on infection. If you feel a cold coming on, try sipping on ginger tea throughout the day.
- All your bills are due on the same day — and it's still not the worst day of the month. For many women, scraping the bottom of the checking account is a walk in the park compared to suffering with menstrual cramps. If monthly misery has you down, we recommend a hot cup of ginger tea.
Botanical: Chrysanthemum Parthenium (BERNH.)
Synonyms---Pyrethrum Parthenium (Sm.). Featherfew. Featherfoil. Flirtwort. Bachelor's Buttons.
---Part Used---Herb.
Feverfew (a corruption of Febrifuge, from its tonic and fever-dispelling properties) is a composite plant growing in every hedgerow, with numerous, small, daisy-like heads of yellow flowers with outer white rays, the central yellow florets being arranged on a nearly flat receptacle, not conical as in the chamomiles. The stem is finely furrowed & hairy, about 2 feet high; the leaves alternate, downy with short hairs, or nearly smooth-about 4 1/2 inches long and 2 inches broad - bipinnatifid, with serrate margins, the leaf-stalk being flattened above & convex beneath. It is not to be confounded with other wild chamomile-like allied species, which mostly have more feathery leaves & somewhat large flowers; the stem also is upright, whereas that of the true garden Chamomile is procumbent. The delicate green leaves are conspicuous even in mild winter. The whole plant has a strong & bitter smell, and is particularly disliked by bees. A double variety is cultivated in gardens for ornamental purposes, and its flower-heads are sometimes substituted for the double Chamomile.
Country people have long been accustomed to make curative uses of this herb, which grows abundantly throughout England. Gerard tells us that it may be used both in drinks, and bound on the wrists is of singular virtue against the ague.
Medicinal Action and Uses---Aperient, carminative, bitter. As a stimulant it is useful as an emmenagogue. Is also employed in hysterical complaints, nervousness & lowness of spirits, and is a general tonic. The cold infusion is made from 1 OZ. of the herb to a pint of boiling water, allowed to cool, and taken frequently in doses of half a teacupful.
A decoction with sugar or honey is said to be good for coughs, wheezing & difficult breathing. The herb, bruised and heated, or fried with a little wine and oil, has been employed as a warm external application for wind and colic.
A tincture made from Feverfew & applied locally immediately relieves the pain and swelling caused by bites of insects and vermin. It is said that if 2 teaspoonfuls of tincture are mixed with 1/2 pint of cold water, and all parts of the body likely to be exposed to the bites of insects are freely sponged with it, they will remain unassailable. A tincture of the leaves of the true Chamomile & of the German Chamomile will have the same effect.
Planted round dwellings, it is said to purify the atmosphere & ward off disease.
An infusion of the flowers, made with boiling water & allowed to become cold, will allay any distressing sensitiveness to pain in a highly nervous subject, and will afford relief to the face-ache or earache of a dyspeptic or rheumatic person.

Echinacea
Resembling a black-eyed Susan, echinacea or purple coneflower is a North American perennial that is indigenous to the central plains where it grows on road banks, prairies, fields and in dry, open woods. It is also called snake root because it grows from a thick black root that Indians used to treat snake bites.
Herbalists consider Echinacea one of the best blood purifiers and an effective antibiotic. It activates the body's immune system increasing the chances of fighting off any disease. This popular herb has been used to help ward off the common cold and to relieve the symptoms of hay fever.
The Plains Indians used various species of echinacea to treat poisonous insect and snake bites, toothaches, sore throat, wounds, as well as mumps, smallpox, and measles. The settlers quickly adopted the therapeutic use of the plant, and since that time it has become one of the top selling herbs in the United States. Since the early 1900's hundreds of scientific articles have been written about echinacea. Most of the research during the past 10 years has focused on the immunostimulant properties of the plant.

The best water to drink, in my opinion, as well as in the opinion of natural health experts such as Paul C. Bragg
Water is the most important substance to take into our bodies, other than air, and it is extremely important that it be clean. Distilling the water takes ALL the impurities out.
Many will argue that mineralized water is best, but minerals are used more efficiently when taken into our bodies through plants. It is argued, as well, that distilled water may actually leach minerals from out of the body. Well, not the minerals we need.
The minerals our body uses to function are quickly put to work upon ingestion. These are not the minerals that distilled water is likely to leach. Distilled water does pull minerals to it, but the ones that it pulls from the body are the inorganic minerals that we would be better to rid ourselves of. It is the water of choice for removing heavy metals and debris we don't need!
Distilled water is also the water of choice for medicine making. When I make tinctures, or teas, for that matter, this is the very best water to use because it extracts more minerals from the plant matter into the solution that is to be used.

Benefits of Chlorophyll
Chlorophyll is the green pigment in plants that harnesses the sun's energy in photosynthesis. Chlorophyll is to plants what blood is to humans - it is essential to metabolic functions such as respiration, and growth. Interestingly, the chlorophyll molecule is chemically similar to human blood, except that its central atom is magnesium, whereas that of human blood is iron.
Chlorophyll has been used to repair tissues and is often used to help neutralize the pollution that we eat and breathe. It assists in the assimilation of calcium and other minerals. It works to strengthen and purify the entire body.
Did you know we could actually live on BEE POLLEN and water alone?!?! It contains ALL the nutrients we need!!!

Acidophilus
Lactobacillus acidophilus, commonly referred to simply as acidophilus, is a friendly inhabitant of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. It, as well as some related strains of bacteria, is known as a probiotic. Probiotic organisms secrete enzymes that support healthy digestion. They keep the flora of the intestines and vagina balanced, and compete with some pathogenic organisms. When the probiotic population of the body is severely decreased, as can occur with treatment by many antibiotics, yeasts and harmful bacteria may take over and cause illness. Normal and healthy amounts of acidophilus can also be decreased by chronic diarrhea, stress, infections, and poor diet.
Acidophilus may function in the production of some of the B vitamins, such as niacin, pyridoxine, biotin, and folic acid.
Recent evidence suggests that consuming Lacto-bacillus acidophilus L1 can be effective in lowering blood cholesterol. The February 1999 issue of the Journal of the American College of Nutrition reports on two studies done at the University of Kentucky. Subjects who consumed the yogurt containing L. acidophilus L1 had cholesterol levels drop by 2.4% in one study and 3.2% in the other. Although the percentages are small, the effect on the risk of heart disease could be significant.
A study published in the December 1998 issue of the Brazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research found that acidophilus induced a nonspecific immune response in experimental mice. Acidophilus is sometimes recommended as an immune booster for people, although the effect has not yet been documented in humans.
Acidophilus may possibly be helpful in the treatment of canker sores, fever blisters, hives, and adolescent acne. Its use has also been suggested as a preventative for colon cancer.

Zeolites are minerals which form from the interaction of volcanic ash, lava and salt baking in the sun for thousands of years. These zeolites have been powdered and used as a cureall by many asians since ancient times.
They are one of the only minerals with negatively charged ions, and they attract a great many things to themselves such as heavy metals and toxins. Zeolites have a unique cage-like structure which traps these substances and carries them out of the body.
I have a very good liquid form zeolite if anyone's interested. They are VERY useful to have, with all the toxic exposure we have today in the world. This particular product is called Natural Cellular Defense.

I hope that we all realize the importance of bringing sex into the Light and using our bodies and relationships as vehicles for Love, Spirit and Healing. (Sexual Healing, like Marvin says).

WATER:
1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.
2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.
3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%.
4. A glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a Univ. Washington study.
5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.
6. Preliminary research shows that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of
sufferers.
7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the
computer screen or on a printed page.
8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by
79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.
As The Charles Sturt University explains, "Water is the solvent for metabolic reactions in living cells. Many molecules and all ions important for the life of the cell are carried in an aqueous solution and these diffuse to reaction sites through the water in the cell. Metabolic reactions within the cell can occur only in solution where water is the solvent. It is critical for proper functioning of these reactions that the amount and concentration of water in the cell be kept constant. Most cells die when the water content is changed significantly."
In other words...Water is needed by every cell, to do everything that cells need to do!
Water regulates body temperature, removes wastes from the body; carries nutrients, oxygen, enzymes, hormonesand glucose to the cells; carries away toxins and metabloic waste from the cells for elimination; cushions the joints; strengthens the muscles; and provides natural moisture to skin and other tissues...We absolutely need it to live!

The number you get is the number of ounces of water you should drink every day...AT A MINIMUM!
Sound like a lot? To some, perhaps it might. But that's how much water your body needs to function the way that it was designed. Don't forget--It makes up more of our physical bodies than absolutely anything else!
Vibrational healing has to do with attuning our vibrational level to a higher level of life. This can be done through various influences, such as thought, music, color, light...even the foods that we eat.

According to Eastern spiritual tradition, there are twelve spiritual gifts of the sun that can be obtained through the chanting of mantras that invoke the desired qualities. Sun mantras are chanted to increase these specific gifts, and also to bring illumination, healing abilities, and spiritual magnetism. Healing from the mantras is associated with the heart and circulatory system, and the thymus gland. What Is Rebound Exercise?
Rebounding is a natural, instinctive type of exercise. It was our very first form of exercise. Mother's womb was the waterbed where we learned to bounce.
Parent's know how gently bouncing a crying baby can be calming. Children love to bounce on an adult knee or stomach. They begin bouncing on their own when their legs are strong enough. And you've probably seen kids bouncing on beds and other springy furniture.
The benefit of exercise is absolutely necessary for good health. Protein molecules and toxins trapped in tissues must be drawn out through the lymphatic system for elimination. Exercise and deep breathing move the lymph fluid.
Aerobic exercise is the vigorous type that oxygenates the blood and tissues, stimulates circulation and moves the most wastes along. Aerobic exercise includes walking, hiking, running, dancing, bicycling, and rebounding.
Bouncing on a small trampoline provides the best exercise benefit!
Rebounding will help you to slim down and clean the body. It moves the lymph fluid which carries trapped unmetabolized proteins and toxic wastes away from tissues so they may be eliminated.
Using a rebounder is ideal for heart exercise. Rebounding builds muscles, so it strengthens the heart, increasing its capacity.
With no need for straining, you can slowly increase to and maintain your heart rate in the "training zone". This is the ideal exercise heart rate of 72% to 80% of the result of subtracting your age from 220.
Before long this exercise will lower your resting pulse rate and improve circulation.
(NOTE: You can check your pulse rate during exercise by stopping and counting it for 10 seconds, then multiply by 6 to get the rate for a minute.)
CAUTION: If you are not used to aerobic exercise, begin rebound exercise slowly for short periods and increase gradually, especially if it is likely you have a lot of toxins. Check with your doctor first if you have any health condition or are quite out of shape.
I have one sitting right here by my desk and I use it on and off throughout the day. Sitting all day at a desk can bog a system down and make it sluggish. Rebounding is the best exercise there is, in my opinion, for getting the lymphatics moving. (Plus, it helps to keep me awake! Hahaha!)

Qigong (pronounced "chee-gung," also spelled chi kung) is translated from the Chinese to mean "energy cultivation" or "working with the life energy." Qigong is an ancient Chinese system of postures, exercises, breathing techniques, and meditations. Its techniques are designed to improve and enhance the body's qi. According to traditional Chinese philosophy, qi is the fundamental life energy responsible for health and vitality.
Qigong may be used as a daily routine to increase overall health and well-being, as well as for disease prevention and longevity. It can be used to increase energy and reduce stress. In China, qigong is used in conjunction with other medical therapies for many chronic conditions, including asthma, allergies, AIDS, cancer, headaches, hypertension, depression, mental illness, strokes, heart disease, and obesity.
Qigong is presently being used in Hong Kong to relieve depression and improve the overall psychological and social well-being of elderly people with chronic physical illnesses.
In Chinese thought, qi, or chi, is the fundamental life energy of the universe. It is invisible but present in the air, water, food, and sunlight. In the body, qi is the unseen vital force that sustains life. We are all born with inherited amounts of qi, and we also get acquired qi from the food we eat and the air we breathe. In qigong, the breath is believed to account for the largest quantity of acquired qi, because the body uses air more than any other substance. The balance of our physical, mental, and emotional levels also affect qi levels in the body.

"What is Ortho-Bionomy?
Ortho-Bionomy is a gentle, non-invasive, osteopathically-based form of body therapy which is highly effective in working with chronic stress, injuries and pains or problems associated with postural and structural imbalances. The practitioner uses gentle movements and positions of the body to facilitate the change of stress and pain patterns. A strong focus is placed on the comfort of the individual, no forceful manipulations are used. The practitioner also suggests home exercises that individuals can do to further facilitate the neuromuscular re-education process begun in the session. Ortho-Bionomy is very effective in helping alleviate both acute and chronic pain and stress patterns by reducing chronic muscle tension, soothing the joints, increasing flexibility, improving circulation, and relaxing the entire body.
Ortho-Bionomy was developed by Dr. Arthur Lincoln Pauls, a British osteopath, who wanted to find a way to work with the body which honored the body's inherent wisdom. From his experience as a Judo instructor and through his training as an osteopath, he found ways of working with the body by exaggerating the body's preferred postures, thereby permitting the body's self-healing process to create greater balance and alignment. He discovered that by working WITH the body and not against it, the body could find balance on its own without having to use force to correct it. Dr. Pauls began teaching this work in the US in 1976, and has taught Ortho-Bionomy extensively throughout Europe.
The term "Ortho-Bionomy" comes from "ortho" meaning correct or straight, "bio" meaning life, and "nomy" meaning the laws of or study of. Dr. Pauls defined the term then as "the correct application of the laws of life." He stated "[Ortho-Bionomy] is really about understanding your whole life cycle. Naturally, we focus on the structure because that is the literal skeleton upon which our life is built. When your structure works right, your circulation works better, you feel better, you think better." (Kain and Berns, 1992)
How does Ortho-Bionomy work?
Ortho-Bionomy stimulates the body's self-correcting and self-balancing reflexes by way of the proprioceptive reflexes located in our joints and muscles. The practitioner uses movement and gentle compression to find positions of comfort which allow the body to change the stress and pain patterns which are causing the discomfort.
Ortho-Bionomy also employs the homeopathic concept that what cannot be cured from within cannot be cured from without. Using gentle positioning and light touch, Ortho-Bionomy stimulates inner awareness to awaken within the individual a sense of natural balance and well-being, both physically and emotionally. The inner wisdom of the body is recognized and affirmed. Self healing occurs as the person remembers their natural ability to move away from pain and toward ease."
I hope this is OK! Oh, and a big "Hi" to everyone - this is my first post in this group!
Nervine - substance that supports the function of the nervous system; can be meaningfully subdivided into three groups, as follows:
- Nervine tonics - substances that strengthen and restore the nervous system.
- Nervine relaxants - substances that ease anxiety and tension by soothing both body and mind.
- Nervine stimulants - substances that directly stimulate nerve activity.
I like the explanation of Krishnamurti. Meditation is no escape from the world – no secluding oneself, but more the gaining of understanding from the world and its ways.
As many as 10 per cent of Canadians may suffer from some sort of seasonal depression caused by sunlight changes. Commonly called the "winter blues", symptoms can include low energy, excessive sleep, over-eating, weight gain and even severe depression. These effects are usually caused by what is commonly referred to as a malfunction of the body's clock. Light therapy may help these people as well as those who work shifts and those who suffer from jet lag.
As well as sending images to the brain, the eyes also tell our pineal gland, a small pea-sized gland located in the brain, when the day is over. The gland then induces drowsiness by secreting melatonin. This gland also influences moods, hunger and metabolism. (It has been determined that melatonin is used as a marker for the body's internal clock.)
Doctors have learned to treat this seasonal depression and jet lag by using a simple device called a light box. Because the timing, intensity and duration of the light all play a role in the treatment of each individual case, it is important to stress that the light therapy must be administered by a medical doctor or therapist. Some cases of corneal burns have been reported by people who have tried to treat themselves.
If you think light therapy may help you, consult your physician.
Kava kava (Piper methysticum) is a tropical shrub that grows throughout the Pacific Islands. Kava kava belongs to the pepper family (Piperaceae) and is also known as kava, asava pepper, or intoxicating pepper. It grows to an average height of 6 ft (1.83 m) and has large heart-shaped leaves that can grow to 10 in (25.4 cm) wide. A related species is Piper sanctum, a native plant of Mexico that is used as a stimulant.
Kava kava has been used as a medicinal herb for hundreds of years and used by Pacific Islanders to treat rheumatism, asthma, worms, obesity, headaches, fungal infections, leprosy,

gonorrhea, vaginal infections, urinary infections, menstrual problems, migraine headaches, and insomnia. It was also used as a diuretic, an aphrodisiac, to promote energy, and to bring about sweating during colds and fevers. Pacific Islanders consume a kava kava drink at social, ritual, and ceremonial functions. It is drunk at ceremonies to commemorate marriages, births, and deaths; in meetings of village elders; as an offering to the gods; to cure illness; and to welcome honored guests. Pope John Paul II, Queen Elizabeth II, and Hillary Rodham Clinton have all drunk kava kava during their island visits.
The drink is prepared by grinding, grating, or pounding the roots of the plant, then soaking the pulp in cold water or coconut milk. Traditionally the root was chewed, spit into a bowl, and mixed with coconut milk or water. That practice is no longer the standard.
Captain James Cook has been credited with the Western discovery of kava kava during his journey to the South Pacific in the late 1700s. The first herbal products made from kava kava appeared in Europe in the 1860s. Pharmaceutical preparations became available in Germany in the 1920s. Currently, kava kava has received widespread attention because of its reputation to promote relaxation and reduce stress.
Kava kava has been prescribed by healthcare providers to treat a wide range of ailments, including insomnia, nervousness, and stress-related anxiety and anxiety disorders. It is also reported to relieve urinary infections, vaginitis, fatigue, asthma, rheumatism, and pain.
The active ingredients in kava kava are called kavalactones and are found in the root of the plant. Kavalactones cause reactions in the brain similar to pharmaceutical drugs prescribed for depression and anxiety. Research has shown that kavalactones have a calming, sedative effect that relaxes muscles, relieves spasms, and prevents convulsions. Kavalactones also have analgesic (pain-relieving) properties that may bring relief to sore throats, sore gums, canker sores, and toothaches.
Kava kava is a strong diuretic that is reportedly beneficial in the treatment of gout, rheumatism, and arthritis. The diuretic effect of the herb relieves pain and helps remove waste products from the afflicted joints. Antispasmodic properties have shown to help ease menstrual cramps by relaxing the muscles of the uterus. Kava kava's antiseptic and anti-inflammatory agents may help relieve an irritable bladder, urinary tract infections, and inflammation of the prostate gland.
Kava kava is available in dry bulk (powdered or crushed), capsule, tablet, tea, and tincture forms. Many of the products are made from the dried powder of the root. Western consumers have generally been advised to look for standardized extracts of kava kava that have a 70% kavalactone content. On the other hand, a report submitted to the Committee of Safety of Medicines (CSM) of the United Kingdom in April 2002 indicates that many of the side effects reported in connection with kava kava are due to the high concentration of the herb in commercial standardized extracts. The report suggested that kava preparations made according to traditional methods are relatively safe. It is likely that controversy over kava kava will continue.
The American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) advised consumers in 1997 not to take kava kava for more than three months at a time, and not to exceed the recommended dosages. In light of more recent findings, however, it would be prudent for many adults to completely avoid preparations of or products containing kava kava.
As of March 25, 2002, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recommended that people who have a history of liver disease or are taking medications that affect the liver should consult a physician before taking any preparations containing kava kava.
Kava kava has been shown to interact with beverage alcohol and with several categories of prescription medications. It increases the effect of barbiturates and other psychoactive medications.
**In my opinion, Everything should be in moderation. These studies do NOT say how much Kava Kava was given nor do they say how the studies were conducted.

Iridology is generally based on the concept of neural pathways between the body and the iris. Although iridologists may differ on the exact mechanism, most maintain that the iris reflects what is happening throughout the body via nerve conduction from all parts of the body to the eye. The client's health is assessed by the iridologist, who interprets patterns, shapes, rings, colors and pigmentation markings, fibers, structures, and changes in the pupil and iris. Many iridologists also use sclerology (reading the lines in the white part of the eyes) in their health evaluation.
That's really cool, Douglas! I started to write a therapeutic bath book myself awhile back! Soooo.....
H is for Hot Tub Therapy, right?

hot tub
n. A very large tub made of ceramic, acrylic, wood, or another substance and filled with hot water in which one or more bathers may soak.
therapy - The treatment of disease, therapeutics.
Origin: Gr. Therapeia = service done to the sick
Thus I would write a book on hot tub medicine, along with other books such as the obesity survival manual, the heart disease survival manual, cystic fibrosis survival manual, and other killers.
An alkaline hot tub would cure cancer theoretically, plus other diseases like malaria.
Other diseases can also be cured in a hot tub theoretically. If one were to put soap or other antibacterial agent in the hot tub, such as bubble bath, he would cure all bacterial infections. So too, if that which is capable of destroying any virus were put in the hot tub, all viridae one has ever had would be wiped clean from his body.

EAR CANDLING
It is often thought that ear candling originated in the East but I found out that is NOT the case.
The Native Americans, specifically, the Hopi tribes used ear candling as a cleansing and spiritual practice.
Ear candling is when you use a candle (usually made of beeswax) which is hollow in the center to withdraw ear wax & infection from the ear canal. The candle is made like a taper with one end smaller than the other. The hollow candle creates a vacuum in the ear thus drawing out the wax. You must be careful when doing this so as not to cause a fire. It is best if you allow someone else to do this for you.
It is truly amazing!!

Colon Therapy (Also known as colon hydrotherapy, colonics, or colonic irrigation) -
Colon hydrotherapy is a process of cleansing the colon, which is the large intestine extending from the cecum to rectum--roughly 5 ft. in length.
Many illness can be born from the build-up of toxic waste in the colon. During colon therapy a certified practioner gently pumps water into the colon to wash the dried fecal matter from the colon walls, and then pumps it back out again. Treatments generally last for one hour. Massage is often applied.
Various methods of cleansing the colon have been in use for thousands of years, and colon therapy was standard practice for many medical doctors until the 1940's. Today it is still widely practiced by chiropractors, naturopaths, and massage therapists.

B - Bowen Therapy
Bowen is a dynamic, remedial body technique, that is extremely gentle and very relaxing. It empowers the body’s own healing resources achieving balance and harmony, resulting in fast and lasting relief from pain and discomfort.
Bowen is an all embracing vibrational energy therapy, safe to use on anyone, newborns to the elderly, with any condition from sports injuries to chronic or organic complaints.
A treatment comprises sequences of small gentle moves, each at a specific site on the body. There is not forceful manipulation, just a light cross-fibre maneuvering of a muscle, tendon or ligament, pleasant to the recipient. However, fascia also plays an important role in this technique.
The precise location of the Bowen moves correlate markedly with the latest research into the meridian energy system, acu-points and myofascial trigger point therapy. Observation also suggests the lymphatic system is greatly affected by this technique.
Bowen facilitates the balancing of a broad range of conditions. It can address any problem (with medical supervision where appropriate) as the treatment is holistic. Bowen produces an integrated body response, and consequently improves circulation, lymphatic and venous draining, assimilation of nutrients and elimination of toxins, joint mobility, posture, clearance of dysfunctional debris, normalisation of cellular physiology and tissue integrity.
(This came to mind because I'm thinking of trying it)
I have an idea! Let's start our own dictionary of terms that have to do with natural healing!
Let's go from A-Z, and include a definition of what the word means, either from your own knowledge or from another source. Try not to take two turns in a row, even if you have to write to another group member and get someone else to join in! When we get to Z, let's start again, and try not to repeat any words.
I'll start it off with A -
Adaptogen - An herb which increases resistance and resilience to stress, enabling the body to avoid reaching functional collapse because it can adapt around the problem.
