Working to eliminate hunger in our own little corner of New York State ... www.foodbankcny.org ... it's encouraging to know that people care!  [ send green star]

Just do the little things if the big things are too much...

So remember the daily opportunities found at:

Daily clicks for hunger

or remember the one that is clearly an original leader in the clicking fight against hunger, and deals with the world (and with the very country that must eliminate hunger within its own borders and must help eliminate it everywhere else--USA)

www.thehungersite.com

or find ones specialized in that area of the world you want most to benefit and have the motivation to do so with daily work in that direction.

You like good feelings... April 03, 2006 4:48 PM

but disdain of, or even attraction to, good feelings is not the apathy this queen is attacking.

It is failure to do good deeds that are now known to be effective but ignored and deflected by all who post and say "I click" and one or two or three say "I have invited my friends" and no one seems to believe that it is those who are not yet in your circle who need your message or that you do not preach religion to the saved but those who could be saved (and in this case thereafter do a hope lot more clicking than the inviters could alone)!

I am sure you will perceive the negatives in this and yet you can not perceive your negative in posting a link to what is a marvelous and beautiful good feeling video when we were supposed to be feeling the need to do

MORE

for the

HUNGRY and MALNOURISHED

and then actually doing it (for a little while at least).

Although with out-of-date singing stars this video

http://youtube.com/watch?v=BTDswUf3PiY

remains relevant, for it, as is said in the song, "is time to lend a hand", "we can't go on pretending day by day" at least not with any honesty and we must help the time to come "[w]hen the world must come together as one."  Only more people fighting will have a significant effect.

Yet only a wisp of willingness can be found in your last post.  This site be renamed and new site started with people who actually care to profess that their self-satisfying clicks are good, but not the best they could give, and as better, even if not best, would be to grow the caring and hunger-fighting world as much as possible.

Is it so hard to say that inviting only one a day here to click with your and to invite one a day each with you the next day and so forth would if people could do it would be that billion impossible number at the end of the month!

I have ceased doing anything "positive" since there is no sense in a site that violates its summary on its front door with most every post, because no one, save Woodrow all alone in the proverbial wilderness, will make the positive statement that much good could come of inviting and reminding all the others at Care2 that Human Hunger is the world's prime evil with daily consequences none of us could bear to view!!!

I am ashamed at ad hominem attacks when the ones stated here by the Hunger Heros and the former site owner are ones relevant to the repeated posts here ignoring as blasphemy, usually without any specific reference, any responsibility to spread the message to all the world, or all the e-world at least, or all Care2 at the very least, along with all clicks one desires to make and not just click your clicks (although that is worthy action without doubt).

Sign me as one with no good feelings but with loads of fight left against the hypocrisy of pretend and of inaction in the more relevant ways.

Boy is that ever a negatice post April 03, 2006 8:10 AM

All I was trying to say is that what has been pomoted in this iste can indeed happen.

I don't believe in giving up. I don't believe in bashing people over the head. I don't believe in being negative in my messages.

I believe in motivating people. I believe in respecting people. I believe in constructive ideas and feedback. I believe in building by adapting the moment and focusing on the positive.

The fact that HUNGER is a very real and sad issue that should not exist in any part of the world does not mean that we have to be somber and tragic about the topic. We have to approach the topic with hope and a belief that we can move mountains and can positively effect the issue.

About marketing.....there is a lot to be said for motivational messages as oppossed to fear driven messages or bashing messages.

I was just making a point that it can work if we all work together and do our part. I did not post the site so to critic it or bash the efforts of one individual who accomplished something great in a very short period of time.

A Power Point Performance of Perfect Platitudes April 03, 2006 7:34 AM

We all deserve an enjoyable respite and it was truly well made.

All should see it and help Kate Nowak reach her goal of spreading good feeling and maybe understanding, but it remains to be said that net effect is what counts and bringing in one million people to click at the

www.thehungersite.com

each day for a year would have some effect, but one million watching that fine production might only have one million separate psychological highs that are not productive in helping anyone even those who enjoyed the high for the moment, minute or day of effect.

It is sad that Hunger, Malnourishment and People in Need can not be as smoothly marketed to make one million people do anything much less 1% of the members of this site actually do each day what could have been done during that presentation, invite 5 to 10 Care2 members to Care2 Care about those who have Hunger, Malnourishment and are People in Need and to do at least the little things such as clicking and be prepared to do a mass e-demonstration at an appropriate time.

The leadership here has, as admitted, been inadequate, ineffective and on the whole ignored, but there remains no reason that all that are here should not Care2 effect a major, if only local to Care2, attitude change for doing for the Hungry and the Malnourished, while doing whatever it else is of our interests.

This is the project:

The project took off very quickly and the numbers are more than doubling at light speed. Snowballing does work. There is no flaw in the theory.

I know about no Canadians who have hunger fears, but Americans... March 27, 2006 9:50 AM

exist who are hard-pressed to find a way to be fed.

Canada is a caring country for it citizens (or it presents itself as such).  There are probably smaller pockets of the poorly nourished in Canada but social programs should be better than in America, which relies on local charities.

Hunger is the no. 1 problem this very minute for hundreds of millions of people and until you do some minimal actions, all should be ashamed of the large amount of time spent on non-two legged animals needs which for many is greatly in excess of anything they will do for the hungry beyond clicking.

Hundreds of millions of people malnourished or ...

.

.

.

the East European dancing bears.

HMMM! I see the tough choices (but to me it is only watching the choice of language of the malnourished when dealing with those who think that refusing to do a little more for the poor and investing larger amount of time working in favor bears, wolves, feral cats... can be ethically, socially, morally justified!)

Do both, help afflicted animals and malnourished children, by all means!, but do the obvious for the poor humans a little each time you spread the animal message.  Ten invites a day to this group (or to any of the hunger groups for we are the world and we care not how we are helped) would take maybe 5 minutes a day.

Many invited would care if asked to care and to click, and would invite others if asked to invite others, and do much more than the one person inviting ever could do on their own.

What makes one cause MORE important than another? March 27, 2006 5:17 AM

I could make a compelling and strong case for pretty much any cause. We (as in the royal we) are individuals who are touched with passion for a number of reasons. Who is anyone to judge another?

When I referred to the recruiting, I meant to bring attention to the tone. I like to believe that motivation is a better tactic to aggresive comments. Hence my comment about the power of one and the ability to move mountains. I don't believe in accusing people of apathy, when I personally do not know what people are doing on a day-to-day basis. Many of us may be spending a great portion of our time taking action locally and do not have time to dedicate to an internet campaign of promoting clicking. I agree that it all amounts to 'helping'. I rather take the approach of believing in people and accepting the fact that this campaign is not getting of the ground for reasons other than apathy. I don't think the enemy is within. Energy stemming from frustration could be best channelled where true changes can take place. Corporations get away (literally) with murder, let's make them accountable by educating ourselves as socially conscious consumers.

I am passionate about the issue of hunger and I take action on a regular basis locally and internationally BUT animals ARE important too and so is land management and rainforests and violence against women(and man) and....... It will be a sad day when we stand alone on a planet where the only surviving thing is the human race....then what!? Hunger will definitely not be our biggest problem.

Almost certainly fault is in priorities of 1000 members here & 10000 members at hungersite.com... March 26, 2006 11:15 AM

Almost certainly fault is in priorities of 1000 members here & 10000 members at hungersite.com.. 11:14 AM

This is taken from a recent posting at the thread with link shown at bottom. It seems applicable, it is applicable, it must be addressed by all who make priorities of animals and do little thoughtful for malnourished children but a click here or there, day in day out, if that, when so much more can so readily, easily and without much time consumed, be accomplished to enlarge the current response with not one more cent spent by those who say they care!

There is a need for much, but malnourished children cannot wait until every "dancing bear" type animal is protected.  Time to protect one bear or a small group of them, but no stomach to stand up for those humans with empty stomachs.

It is embarassing to view the tenor, content and lack of human concern for humans in the mass amount of mail sent from the Care2 members:

The Title to this Thread Must Be Changed to Our Reality: Saturday, 7:07 AM

Why This Group?; What Could We Do Different?; Will We Change Anything AT ALL?

It is a month and several weeks more and nothing has changed.  The answers to the questions seem ominous.

Those who have the time care little about hunger and more about do-gooding on a myriad of less important matters which is wonderful when you have a normal meal once or twice or three times a day, but which is impossible when you have no normal meal ever, much less eat a full meal of a European or an American of the United States!

No volunteers, no changes, all that could be done is overlooked.

So sad, so bad, so much, so wasted.

Agreed, Timothy and a point well taken but here is another such point... March 13, 2006 5:33 AM

There is no one such place.

There is one up for sale [horrors, yes Hunger has been co-opted by good and by bad capitalists and the latter is more fit a description for the sale of www.stopthehunger.com (just click on it and then on the obvious link and see).

I am repulsed at those who have placed their personal financial interests in a superior position to those who suffer

malnutrition and hunger

That $3,500 should go to the hungry (click, click and see the price).

However commercial needs to exist and all sites have bills to pay.

Here we have many Click to donate sites, that you will find almost on your own.  Some of the funds made benefit Care2, and for that I have no problem for they have set up a unique vehicle for a variety of good propositions, and many debatable ones, but all worthy of display!!!

But do not forget the first and one of the more efficient Click to Donate sites:

www.thehungersite.com

Also we are in our contemplative period.

I am seeking a new leader to actually organize these and new members so as to fully utilize the growing power if we find the power to continue growing (one we had when I was posting using the Hunger Heros and one I can teach to my successor owner).

Is it to be Timothy or some other to lead the needed campaign for the needy so poor as not to have enough food for themselves and their children?

Write if interested KinMapper@gmail.com.

The field remains wide open from my eyes!

I think that the basis for this group is a great one, but I know when I joined that I really didn't understand about the clicking, and really even where to go to click everyday. Now that I have found the website I added it to my favorites so that I can do my part. Anyway I just wanted to say that maybe when we invite others to join we should explain to them about what we mean when we say click for hunger and how to get where they need to go.

Thanks!

Seeking a leader to grow our site exponentially to one large and loud!!! March 09, 2006 11:03 AM

Martha, those are all good works that would be good to keep working at and upon.

However this group is to open new horizons by organizing sufficient numbers to expand to those who forgot about the hungry, who may have never experienced malnutrition, but who are not so awful as to when nudged to fail to recognize that it is a world problem that has simple solutions if the powers to be care to work at it and that when nudged will fight the Hunger Fight a little more or for the first time.  Not just finding ways of giving food, but giving all the little things necessary to grow food, to stay well and to slowly pull oneself up to sustenance sufficiency.

HERE WE NEED TO GROW to be heard.  THUS I seek that person to do what I have failed to come close to doing despite the 1,000 members:

be an inspired Hunger-Fight Super-Hero able to organize the disparate personages here into a growing and well-functioning enterprise with one goal:

Ending Hunger to as great extent as possible by alerting and orgainizing the entire e-world, at least those with a half or so of a heart!

World Hunger March 09, 2006 10:10 AM

This is why I wanted to be able to call you "friend", Kin!! You are a dynamo..

I commented on one of you all's earlier campaigns. I got some of my friends from NA/AA together and we held a car wash/ food drive. We made list of food pantries in the area and we made lists of daily labor outfits and gave these to the homeless along with the donated food.

We are still trying to determine who will get the carwash proceeds, or how it will be distributed.

My granddaughters church group is thinking of doing something similar. They love to help Grandmommy with her causes!!

My significant other took a large jar for change,he hopes to get  from the other guys on the job site. There are so many ways to make the money or to get the food, however, as Kin says, it is getting it to the people who need it the most. Without it being waylaid to the coffers of the militants in the 3rd. world countries we are trying to help.

We, as a group, have decided to keep ours here in this country. We have enough homeless and hungry children right here.

Seeking Volunteers To Grow Our Site to show our fight! March 02, 2006 12:06 PM

I am the new and the old of this group.

When we see a nucleus of people wanting to SNOWBALL our fight, we can again attempt a growth exponential step.

That is one difference of this site from others, we want to include all who are disgusted by world hypocrisy preventing world food from feeding the world malnourished.

Who has the will, the time and the dedication to assist a cadre in growing our site to be one worthy in size to the problem it wants remedied.  If you want to show that most all of us care about hunger, by getting most all of us at Care2 to Care2 at least join and add to the cacophony of voices crying out:  Enough!

There is enough, just no means to force the rich to help the poor of the world to be less malnourished!  We can start the SNOWBALL!

Anyone?

someone said to me, ' Without war there would be no progress.' we would not be enjoying the benefits such as technological advances the world has made. That was nearly twenty years ago.I disagreed with that person back then and now.The suffering, the cost of human life, wars tend to have that effect. Famine, drought, disease and death, seem to fill our everyday lives,we see the images on tv,internet, news papers, year after year. We try to help with donations, we care, we want to make things better. We look to our leaders who run our countries, we expect more from them, and so we should. Not enough is being done we know that, this is a consumer world every thing revolves around money. There does'nt seem to be enough of that, ( not for the starving ) where its needed most.

There is enough food to feed the people, perhaps another war might be the answer.

technical, not necessary, and commercially sponsored February 09, 2006 12:20 AM

Hunger in the world today should not even exist. ANYWHERE! We have enough food for everyone, and even more.

We only have a technical problem. It's commercialized.

To get it from here to there, commercial transactions are involved (Pay for packing, Pay for transport, Pay for delivering, Pay for distribution, Pay...Pay...Pay)

Unfortunately, the ones who DON'T 'earn something' are...the producers or the end consumers.

There ought to be a volunteer system based NOT on 'give MONEY to help', but 'give your TIME, your TRANSPORTATION, your HANDS, FEET, ARMS to help'...

When a supermaket throws away so many TONS of produce during any given year just because it's reached the end date of safe use, instead of finding a way to give it to who really needs it a day, a week, a month before it expires on the shelf (in accordance to the type of produce, which could have been there a week, a year, 3 years, etc.), SOMETHING IS REALLY WRONG WITH THE WAY WE'RE DOING THINGS!!

Welcome and Suggestions January 12, 2006 10:58 AM

Welcome to a site established to explore ways, better methods to get the most out of those who care at least a smidgen about world hunger. This will be a related site to the hungersite.com group here. This will remain a cheerleader site for http://www.thehungersite.com/ unless and until we find a better fight hunger site to be our premier site. There are many close ones I suspect and I am eager for some proponent of some other site to point towards it as better per click, net, then the one above. So check in and say hello and let us start with suggestion here and new threads elsewhere, as well as once we see if there is anyone else but the 2 showing immediately joining, finding a way and a method to try to alert those who might like a challenge to meet this one in an area that they have expressed an interest, such as the other 9500 and more members of our sibling group. Suggestions, on any area of the proposed efforts.  [ send green star]
