Yes inviting new members can bring in more clickers than you alone could replicate in a lifetime.

But few are, or at least have been, willing to do that, either in their Care2 form or by volunteering to have a Hunger Hero identity.  But all is not lost for you still can do the little things, like clicking daily.

So remember the daily opportunities found at:

Daily clicks for hunger

or remember the one that is clearly an original leader in the clicking fight against hunger, and deals with the world (and with the very country that must eliminate hunger within its own borders and must help eliminate it everywhere else--USA)

www.thehungersite.com

or find ones specialized in that area of the world you want most to benefit and have the motivation to do so with daily work in that direction.

As A Method To Encourage and To Assist Site Members in Inviting Others to Click and to Learn... April 05, 2006 3:38 PM

Four threads have been started to record invitations to others to join this site.  Those who join will be introduced or re-introduced to the value of regular clicking on Click to Donate sites.   [Usually less than one in ten invited joins within a day or two and then maybe another one in ten join within a fortnight after some consideration so it will take some time to show much effect.]

Click on these links to see what has been started anew:

The "I've Invited One Hundred Today" Thread

The "I've Invited Ten Today" Thread

The "I've Invited Twenty-Five Today" Thread

The "I've Invited Five Today" Thread

Suggested invite letters and headings are included in the last three.  Anyone inviting one hundred in a day will surely want to do it all on her own, or maybe his own, but probably her own.

Philip Clark at least wished us April 01, 2006 1:16 PM

"Thanks, and goodluck with your goals."

Now what will the goals evolve into with the new owner and the four old hosts!

Time will have the answer, but it seems certain telling others about the need to help the hungry is irrationally VERBOTEN!

weird 21st century logic it seems to this 1st century mind.

What comes first is the question in all of our lives, but mine for I am but a symbol against the April 01, 2006 1:12 PM

Oppresive.

Active petition preamble, being circulated through Care2 mail:

"Stephanie Ascott of Ontario may lose her dog, Taco because he is a pit bull. She rescued him from certain death and he taught her how to walk again after her sugery. Keep them together!"

A Pit Bull Ban 04/5
A Policy Must Be A Policy
Stephanie Ascott is a woman who has recently had some hard times in her life. She has lost a leg and is in the middle of a divorce. During this hardship, Stephanie has leaned on the support of her dog, Taco, a pit bull which she rescued from the freezing cold this winter. Unfortunately, Taco was not registered in time to be spared under the Ontario Government's new pit bull ban. Consequently, Taco is to be put to death.
Pit bulls have been banned in Ontario. This is a rule made by the Government because of the increase in dog attacks in communities across the province.
Should the government make an exception and allow Stephanie to keep the dog?
What will other dog owners do if she is allowed to keep it?

Stephanie deserved better; Taco could have found a home elsewhere for Ontario does not allow pit bulls unregistered as of a certain date.

BUT THIS WAS LAST YEAR and you here at the site are still "pounding the pavement", "beating the drums" and spending your time e-mailing and e-connecting on this which seems to be over last year and

A million starving babies, every day malnourished, no big deal to you maybe.  That is your choice.  If it matters then to those a way will be found to spend your time on more than the few clicks you do when you do clicks, that will do more and have a greater long-term impact:

NETWORKING with five million strangers at Care2

Treasure your dogs and damn the world

 or better

treasure your dogs, your cats, all living things and do what is urgently needed (that you are able but resistant in doing) for those in the most desperate life-threatening need (along with the fight for a dog, if you feel a stand must be taken for all pets, that is one year ago OVER)!

need a Care2 Global Relief Aid Fund. April 01, 2006 1:10 PM

with a click to donate site such as this, we would be able to help the Hungary, the poor. but Poverty and Hunger does not start on its own, a big reason for Poverty and Hunger, it a lack of Education to Children and there parents in Third World Nations,Education Raise Income, schooling can raise income by as much as 20%,Education also Reduces HIV/AIDS, rural Ugandans with a Secondary Education are three times less likely with those with no education to be HIV/AID-Postive,Education will increase productivity and reduce Malnutrition, which leads to more productive farming, which will lead to more food more the people of that country, so it if fine to talk about Hunger, but Hunger is interconnected with Poverty, HIV/ AIDS, Education and Global Warming, which will make it hard to grow Productive crops, sure we need relief Aid to fee the Hungary, but we also need to address the other problems that come along with it, keep up the good work, and please support my Petition to Care2 for a Global Relief Aid Fund, http://www.petitionsite.com/takeaction/770562327

Thanks, and goodluck with your goals.

That is at least a start,

a response to why you prefer to limit your activities.

The goal of this site was NETWORKING.

The word used was SNOWBALLING but networking would have been just as good.

It was not meant that people would just be complacent.

Apathy is with what we are dealing.

You have every right, as does everybody else, to pick choose what you will and will not do.

But think of whether it meets with what you are stating:

caring about effecting a change.

That can only be done with inclusion and not exclusion.

Why is it wrong to ask someone to join and learn about clicking to help the hungry (and all the other clicking things) and A-OK

to be bombarded with these messages on the DANCING BEAR!

I still do not get it.

What is wrong with fighting for something which ranks, and this is subjective but no one but this one guy who hates people, will dare say a DANCING BEAR ranks above

doing anything rational, conceivable and not too time-consuming to help many malnourished babies and children.

I still do not get it.

But I need not get it.

"CALL THE SITE CLICKING as we see fit"

and then I can stop expecting it to be something different.

The old owner has left the building and for unknown reasons Care2 has left the site without any direction although the hosts either know who the new leader is or do not know, know why Care2 is keeping the old owner or do not know, but with time the new owner should be arriving.

When the new owner comes aboard a new name should well be considered so crazy ideas that others should be contacted, maybe as just a sentence about world-wide hunger

in one of the dancing bear letters

will be removed from any vestige in the site, if that is desire, and if not desired,

perhaps a way will be found to make a large enough plurality of site members to recognize that doing the clicking is worth-while but refusing to proselytize, in any manner that you are comfortable, to strangers but strangers who are  folks here at Care2, for children needing food for basic sustenance when you feel no problem having appeals done for

dancing bears (with bad teeth, I think was part of it),

sounds too absurd to really be occurring in any 21st century human comedy/tragedy.

And if you are appalled, think how appalled someone who places humans in so high a position that their minimal needs are

crucial

and their failures so terribly discouraging.

Hey Beth, I could not have said it any better..... April 01, 2006 11:59 AM

I do find the bashing over people's head offensive. I do know of many who have dropped from this site because of receiving offending and agressive responses to their comments.

You want to get people engaged? Why not try understanding people's reality and motivating people to act, rather than bashing people over the head and making judgement calls on people you do not even know. Profiles on line are but a tip of the iceberg and in some cases could be fabricated. There are many more dimensions to the people in this group. I joined because HUNGER and addressing the issue of hunger is VERY important to me. Will I have time to click each day? sometimes not, do I make a great effort to do such? ABSOLUTELY!! You have no idea what other issues I address each day and I am certainly not going to be forced to participate by insults or aggressive postings. Apathy is not a word I know or any of my friends know. Changes are many that can be credited to my circle of friends and the world is a better place because of actions taken locally. Will I ever justify my actions to a group who seems to be more interested in aggressively attacking people rather than engaging in positive, motivational tactics.....NOT!!!

 April 01, 2006 10:47 AM

Is it that the hungry only deserve a click from you and not better efforts striving towards the best efforts you will provide with your spare time.

Most of us have no spare money, as we need savings for car repairs and emergencies, but most of us have an hour a day of

spare time!

1000 and more folks would be able to change a lot of other folks' perspectives (or just awaken what is in 90+% of all people's hearts, no one should go unfed!).

But only the non-existent Hunger Heros can even imagine it being done.  And no one will do it themselves or as a Hunger Hero for this or some other Hunger site.

WHY

WHY

WHY

 April 01, 2006 10:42 AM

Click helps...

But do not any here claim that they are doing the wisest by only

CLICKING

And if you will not invite strangers to consider the hungry that is your choice.

But we have many inviting people to care about dancing bears and historic sites (all worthy of concern but concern in front of the needy?) and I do not and will not and shall not ever

place dancing bears on my agenda

in front of

malnourished children

but all of you may pick any cause you want in front of them-truly these babes and children will never know your priorities.

Invite one stranger a day to click here or where you want them to do so for the children-- for the hungry babies--for the families & do it

for yourself & your self respect!

Fighting Hunger in more ways than one April 01, 2006 8:55 AM

Ok, I click every day. I have asked friends and family to click everyday. But I believe there are other ways to fight hunger, both in the world and in your own town. Give to the food banks (even a little bit each month with help, most only give at the holidays), educate people on the connection between eating meat and world hunger. (Please note: I am not one who advocates bashing people over the head with my views, but setting examples and providing information to the interested). The beauty of sights like this is that there are so many individuals, with so much to offer (ideas and the like) that great things can be accoplished if we learn to listen to every person who has an idea to contribute. (If it doesn't suit you, don't participate...but don't knock their efforts).

And anyone you meet during the day that you know has access to a computer, let them know about the hungersite. "By the way, have you heard about the hungersite and that it is an easy way to make a difference in the fight to end hunger each day?" Do you know what I mean? There are thousands of things we say to people every day, why not say that too?

Have a good weekend everyone...I'm off my soapbox.

B.

Kristine, not so fast with the compliments March 30, 2006 12:06 PM

You have a profile showing college so you must have some knowledge that population growth is geometric and not linear, as is the endemic hunger in the world and thus an effective method of attacking hunger should be geometrically not just one clicker against the hard world combined with others.

So you say at your MyPage you want to be wonder woman, but how about being a noble queen fighting apathy by "knocking" on doors of MyPages with invites to group and introductions (just a dozen or two a day) to whatever site you think might should grow with more in the know.

Want to be a fighting queen of noble provenance:

Or we will do you up a wonder woman profile and MyPage if you believe that geometric progession is wisest to stop an exponential growth in the hungry!

anonymous I commiserate with you March 30, 2006 11:39 AM

It is sad that there is so little interest in caring for the poverty stricken and starving in this world. Besides Care2 and daily clicks, I also follow the Rx For Survival, Mercy Corps, The One campaign , CARE, AMJS, Amnesty International, Save the Children, etc. I am interested in fighting all aspects of poverty and the social injustice that causes it. I do forward information to my friends, what they do with it afterwards is up to them. Thank you for being a voice.   [report anonymous abuse]

The Title to this Thread Must Be Changed to Our Reality: March 25, 2006 7:07 AM

Why This Group?; What Could We Do Different?; Will We Change Anything AT ALL?

It is a month and several weeks more and nothing has changed.  The answers to the questions seem ominous.

Those who have the time care little about hunger and more about do-gooding on a myriad of less importatant matters which is wonderful when you have a normal meal once or twice or three times a day, but which is impossible when you have no normal meal ever, much less eat a full meal of a European or an American of the United States!

No volunteers, no changes, all that could be done is overlooked.

So sad, so bad, so much, so wasted.

Why This Group?; What Will We Do Different?; Will We Change Anything AT ALL? January 26, 2006 2:24 PM

The other hunger groups are smaller here other than hungersite.com a group here, which is frozen in concrete save a posting here or there and many from the founder of and symbols of our group movement against apathy within and without the Care2 community.

Almost 10000 people at that Care2 hunger group still and nothing happens there or changes.  Some click some do not and some do not even remember they said hunger was an interest to them.

We will try to alert the awake, awake the sleeping and prod the moribund into additional actions.  We have done a little already for some here only came because they care and they were finally reminded that they care.

The entire million or two or three or four or five Care2 community should be asked by the members of this group who Care2 Care enough to do some asking.

If you read this you will already perceive that you need to say more about hunger, about clicking, about CARING and about forcing every person on the www network, first here at Care2 and then outside to at least think if they care enough to take at least one more action today than yesterday and involve more people today than yesterday!

YES WE WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

HOW LARGE DEPENDS on HOW MANY CARE2 DO A LITTLE COMPUTER "DOOR-KNOCKING" BY INVITING TO GROUP a few dozen or so a day AND KEEPING THIS GROUP LIVELY, STRONG, VIBRANT, and EVOLVING into a better group with more that it can accomplish the larger it grows!
