 Our Father in Heaven, I light this candle for all who have been hurt and die at the hands of those who should have loved and protected them. 

One little face stands out among the others, but only because Destiny Norton lived right behind me and only three doors down from my own six year old grandson.  I ask you please lord, to lessen the hurt in the hearts of the children of this neighborhood who were Destiny’s friend.  They do remember and speak of her often.

We know these children are better off in your arms now Father, never the less, the pain is grate.  We ask that you give us the strength to carry on, the knowledge to know when and how to step in, and most important to lesson the pain of those who are still in the hands of evil.  Amen.

A Prayer for Children

We pray for children who put chocolate fingers everywhere, who like to be tickled, who stomp in puddles and ruin their new pants, who sneak popsicles before supper, who erase holes in math workbooks, who never can find their shoes....

And we pray for those who stare at photographers from behind barbed wire, who can't bound down the street in a new pair of sneakers, who never "counted potatoes," who are born in places we wouldn't be caught dead, who never go to the circus, who live in an X-rated world.

We pray for children who bring us sticky kisses and fistfuls of dandelions, who sleep with the dog and bury goldfish, who hug us in a hurry and forget their lunch money, who cover themselves with Band-Aids and sing off key, who squeeze toothpaste all over the sink, who slurp their soup....

And we pray for those who never get dessert, who have no safe blanket to drag behind them, who watch their parents watch them die, who can't find any bread to steal, who don't have any rooms to clean up, who pictures are not on anyone's dresser, whose monsters are real...

We pray for children who spend all their allowance before Tuesday, who throw tantrums in the grocery store and pick their food, who like ghost stories, who shover dirty clothes under the bed and never rinse out the tub, who love visits from the tooth fairy, who don't like to be kissed in front of the school bus, who squirm in church or temple and scream in the phone....

And we pray for those whose nightmares come in the daytime, who will eat anything, who have never seen a dentist, who aren't spoiled by anybody, who go to bed hungry and cry themselves to sleep, who live and move and have no being.

We pray for children who want to be carried, for those who must, for those we never give up on and those who will grab the hand of anyone kind enough to offer it.

I need to correct the information on James Bulger below..

He was murdered by Jon Venables and Robert Thompson in 1993 not one year ago, just 40 miles from my hometown here in the UK.

Jon and Robert were released from seperate young offenders units approx 2/3 years ago. They were  given new ID's to enable them to integrate back into society and live a life as normal as possible. They served ten years for taking a life, and destroyed families that have never been able to pick up the pieces.

They do not deserve new ID's, they do not deserve to live a normal live.......but hey thats what you get for living in the UK.

FORT PIERCE, Florida (AP) -- Four people, two of them young children, were found shot to death Friday along an isolated stretch of Florida's Turnpike with obvious tire tracks nearby, authorities said.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers got a call shortly before 8 a.m. after someone spotted the bodies of a man, woman, boy and girl on the southbound shoulder of the highway, the St. Lucie County sheriff's office said in a statement.

Sheriff Ken Mascara said the adults were both in their 20s or 30s, and the children appeared to be between the ages of 4 and 6. All had been shot multiple times, he said.

Anthony Turner disappeared between 4:30 and 5 p.m. near East Renfro Street and Farm Road 917, said Cpl. Pam Jetsel of the Johnson County Sheriff's Department. "I believe a relative was watching him and had stepped over to a neighbor's," Jetsel said. "They looked back and he wasn't there."

Authorities from several agencies and helicopters with the Texas Department of Public Safety and CareFlite searched for the boy, she said. Neighbors scoured the area in unincorporated Johnson County between Burleson and Alvarado. Anthony's bicycle has not been recovered, Jetsel said. Adding to authorities' concerns, she said, was a report that someone in a dirty gold or beige 1984 or 1985 Ford Taurus was attempting to pick up children in nearby Burleson on Wednesday.

"We're treating it as a potential kidnapping," she said. "We're looking at all the possibilities."
