projects. January 27, 2005 12:29 PM

Hello fellow beaders!! This list is way too quiet! What projects are you working on? i just finished a Birthin Mama amulet necklace. The Birthin mama was created in brick stitch, it's a primitive looking female figure in the birthing squat. There is a rainbow around her head representing the energy of the rushes and the mama birth glow. The baby is crowning and a rainbow also surrounds it representing the birthwaters and the flow of love and energy in new life. The stands of the necklace are done in stone chips, representing the Chakra colors. Red jasper, carnelian, citrine, aventurine, turquoise, sodalite and amethyst spaced with a few quartz rectangles. and then finished in silverlined glass beads. i'm also working on a Rose quartz beaded wrap. i just did a basic tubular Ndebele in rainbow rose seed beads for the necklace. Still trying to figure out how to end it. :) It' a little boring looking. as it is. Just trying to start some chatter in the group. What are the rest of you working on?? Wow! That sounds like a cool necklace. The closest I've come to any projects lately, is that I reorganized my stuff and got a new container for some of it. With school going on, I don't have a lot of time for other stuff.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

School's got me trapped too. I did actually have time to LOOK at some of my stuff the other night. HAHA!  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Michelle and Brandee, What are you going to school for? i originally went to school for fine arts, but after a couple years switched over and got my degree in Sociology instead. i would really like to go back someday and take art class again, maybe take a metal smithing class or pottery. Cassie, What type of beadwork do you do? about.beading.com has a lot of project ideas for beginers. i think the best way to learn is to just get out your beads and start playing. i finished the rose quartz wrap and than made three other necklaces this past week. Including some brickstitched faeries holding up and Aventurine Cab. wrapped in vines. :) Now i'm not sure what to start. i should sit down and try to organize my beads, because it's complete chaos right now. i just don't have an organized bone in my body. Anyone know a good online place to order good quality sterling silver clasps? i hate to order from FMG unless i'm putting in a large order, i need a place where i can just order a few without paying a huge handling fee. Many blessings and beaded dreams, ~tree  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

I'm getting my associate degree in library science. If all goes well, I will be finished after this semester. I don't know about where you could get clasps, but good luck! :)  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Tree, What kind of clasps are you looking for? Not that I would know a good place but I could keep an eye out. Michelle and I go to the same school but I'm getting my credits so I can transfer back out to WA and go to a school called Bastyr. It's a naturopathic school and I'm thinking I'll be doing what they call their health psychology program with a double major in herbs and a summer intensive for massage certification. Dang that sounds like a lot when I type it out. But I do have A LOT of school ahead of me and we'll have to see if I have the energy left in the end to go right into a masters program.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]
