Vet said my dog is dying December 09, 2004 3:27 AM

My housemate, a mutt, 12 years old, has lost her stupendous appetite. She now eats very little but still drinks water. She won't touch her regular food but will eat a bit of yoghurt, boiled chicken and pork. She was vomiting every other day last week and was admitted to the vet's. This week she is purging what looks like some oxidised blood mixed with watery stool. Her vet says she is likely to be having a tumour in her abdomen, based on an X-ray he took of her. He has prescribed a liquid antibiotic which he hopes will stop the purging. Does anyone know how else I can help her? She doesn't look like she's in pain but she's losing weight fast.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

I am sorry you are losing your pet. I know at any age it's hard to accept their leaving us. Unfortunately I don't have any advice on how to ease her pains right now but there is a board called Ask the vet techs and they may be able to give you some helpful advice.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]
